Friendly staff, cozy interior, and good food! A little bit pricey but I think it's still worth visiting. Would definitely come again. Banchan is solid as well FOOD: Kalbi (7/10) - Sauce here is really good and the meat is tender, but do think the hot plate could be a bit hotter so the meat crisps up a bit more. Tteokboki (7/10) - Again, good sauce and fillings but the portion is actually pretty small. Not many rice cake inside. read more

We've eaten at every Korean restaurant in the Anchorage bowl except Jin Mi and after years of experience we only go to one place. Unfortunately our go to place was closed for vacation, which gave us the chance to try the one we hadn't been. It was fine, but we definitely won't be going back. The menu grossly overpriced given the ambiance, portion size and presentation. The thing i found really offensive the menu indicates was banchan refills cost $5. And when I saw the mealy selection- 6 sad, tiny selections.... yikes. Compared that to the 13 beautiful varieties I get at WonJo and there reason for us to come back. They also don't have a foyer and it was freezing inside. The server was very pleasant and attentive. My goat and Perilla soup was good- the broth was excellent. I dont think anywhere else in Amchorage makes this, so that was probably the thing I appreciated the most. 3.5. I just couldn't give them a 5 when a bowl of single serving soup costs $30 with such dinky Banchan. It's against Korean culture. Nope. read more

Every time I come to town have to stop at JinMi with my mom for some Japchae and a rotating appetizer. Today we got their Friend Dumplings. The place has ample seating, good natural light, clean and has quick service which explains their lunch rush for people working in the area. All their main dishes come with a varying selection of ban chan (or side dishes) typically including kimchi, fishcakes, pickled radish and potatoes. Everything is fresh and warm when it comes to the table! While not pictured their tteokbokki and soups are all fantastic as well. I will keep coming back every time! read more

We were in Anchorage for less than a day. On the way to our hotel, I saw the Jinmi restaurant in a nearby strip mall. Yelp said it was good and I trust Yelp. I walked from my hotel and as I entered the restaurant, it smelled delicious. I was able to quickly place my order for Bibimbap and a Diet Coke ($23). Within minutes, it was ready and I was out the door. I was a block and a half away when I repeated heard someone calling "Sir! Sir!". I turned back to see an employee from the restaurant chasing to catch up to me. I stopped and she ran to hand me a cup of sauce to put on my Bibimbap. I was stunned she would have gone to that much effort and was thankful for her caring attitude. How was the Bibimbap? Fantastic! Great portion size and fantastic taste. Even without the exceptional service, I'd have given Jinmi Restaurant high marks. The service just assured me the people working there truly cared about making their customers happy. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch at 2:30 pm. Discovered that we could order a Bulgogi Lunch Special, and share it between two of us! It was a great meal for us because they serve a variety of Bibimbap with the order, that included rice. We had soft drinks with the meal and left this restaurant very satisfied. The rice came out perfectly crisped on the bottom without burning. Nice selection of banchan to go with the meal. I wish there had been a bit more flavor to the meat. I feel about this place like I feel about Alaska: I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could. OK, maybe not. I completely missed this place, and I have no good reason why : ( Like just about every good restaurant in Anchorage, it's located in an unassuming strip mall. Emphasis on unassuming, this is located in what I lovingly call the "bed bug hotel district". It's that part of Spenard near the airport that offers affordable living and lots of "weird stuff" viewing. Anyway, this place is great! I'm not expert on Korean. Like coffee...it all tastes pretty damn good to me, and also tastes pretty similar. The service is what set this place apart. I had no idea I had a Korean grandmother, but now I do. She wouldn't let us order two beers: "They are very big, you can order one and if you finish it, you can order another" She was right. I got the spicy pork and Abbey got the Bibimbap, we were both really impressed. We were also really impressed by the banchan, but we are push-overs for any banchan. The only thing I was into was something I said tasted like "meaty, chewy, seaweed". I asked what it was, and it was squid! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, or even if you aren't! read more

I was invited to this restaurant with my mother and her group of friends (an elderly bunch) but super great young acting people. When I arrived we had a group of 8 to be seated and the owner and her family waited on us with Top Notch Service. These people I was with had been here before and they were treated like family (the kind of family you love), the servers, would call some of the women "mama" with respect! Now let's get to the food, most of this amazing group spoke Korean so they knew what to order, we'll I know 2 things in Korean that I really like. Most ordered the Bibimbap in a stone bowl ( hope I got that right). I ordered Japchae ... we'll when the food came it was gorgeous!! I'm glad I ordered the Japchae since the Bibimbap comes with a very soft egg that you mix in the bowl to finish cooking. We'll I'm not an egg lover but if I was this is what I would be ordering. This is the only good Korean food left in Anchorage. I think the soups are the best but the banchan are good too. I prefer kimchi pancakes to be thinner/crispier but everything overall is pretty satisfactory. Korean beer is so expensive in the states but I would recommend trying it because it pairs well with the food. read more

As with all other great Korean restaurants in Anchorage, this one is located in an unassuming strip mall. The restaurant is simple and small but comfortable. Service is always great. The menu is somewhat smaller compared to other Korean restaurants in town. I prefer quality over quantity with restaurants so I don't mind. My favorite menu item is the spicy rice cakes. The rice cakes are always perfectly cooked. The sauce is delicious and I like the addition of the fish cakes and glass noodles. I've tried the japchae, spicy chicken bulgogi, and stone pot bibimbap, all of which have been fresh and flavorful. You can get one complimentary of the side dishes which is a bonus. Excellent Korean restaurant and would recommend whether you are new to Korean cuisine or frequently enjoy it. read more

Real Korean Food! And not a fusion like the majority of Korean in Alaska. This place was fantastic. My wife got the Stone bowl and it was amazing. She isn't into spice but she was able to get thru the stone bowl, she enjoyed that it continued to cook the meal. I got the spicy pork and it was delicious! more than enough for me. I had to take some home to eat the next day with my eggs. so good. Very much enjoyed this local ownership and family run place. I am excited to come back again. Menu is not over the top and they have everything you would imagine. They have less than the fusions and i liked that. it makes it easy to find something and sick to it. not reading a book and have to remember what chapter you last saw something you liked. Price, honestly this is where I fight everyone in this town! You have to remember your not going to get good fresh food cheap, you also have to remember that not being part of a chain will also add cost. That being said the price is fair it's going to be higher for some but it's fair. The food is cooked amazingly, fresh with ingredients and not frozen or from a can. You get what you paid for. This was a great experience on a Saturday night. I highly recommend bringing some friends and getting a something you know but also try something new to share. You won't be disappointed. Location is in Spenard and closer to the airport side. I am never in this area so i am happy to now have a place to bring me here. This is truly a hidden gem of Anchorage for some great Korean food. So i failed and didn't get any photos of the food. wow what was i thinking. I am out of experience with not going out to much this last year. Next time we come i will get some epic photos. read more

First time here. The Ban Chan was good! The japchae was just ok. It lacked flavor and the meat didn't help. The menu is very limited also. The bulgogi was also just ok. I was bummed because they were very nice and we need more good Korean food here. I would go back and try something else but sadly I don't have high hopes. read more

Very unassuming from the outside but it was within walking distance from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. We had to wait a little bit to get in because they were BUSY which is always a good sign. Everyone looked like they were enjoying their food and it wouldn't be long till we did as well. Min took care of us alongside with the whole restaurant. She is a rockstar that was working her tail off to make sure everyone was taken care of. I had the sliced rice noodle and beef dumpling soup and it was just so so good!! The broth was absolutely delicious, the dumplings extremely flavorful and the rice cakes were so soft!!! So sad if I want this again I'm going to have to come all the way back to Alaska!!! read more

Pleasantly surprised by this Korean family-run spot in Anchorage. I got the dolsot bimbimbap with tofu and it was great. Banchan was on point here but refills are not complementary like most places I've been too. Food - my wife, who lived in South Korea for a year, can attest to the authenticity of the food here. She was impressed with the bipimbop (joking that the same dish in Korea had far more vegetables and sold for far leas). She noted that the stone bowl made the rice crispy and heated the egg when it was stirred around. There were lots of side dishes! 6 or 7. The waitress said that some of them were sour but I thought they tasted fine. They are what I have came to think of kimchi as. I ordered the spicy pork bulgogi. It was good, not great. First off, it wasn't spicy at all. Second, it was a little bland. Some spice or sauce or seasoning would have been nice. Notables - pretty simple menu. Not real need for appetizers since they bring side dishes. I thought the price was very reasonable, especially for Anchorage. You pay at the front. Very limited selection of beer. Ambiance - it's a small place with about 7 or 8 tables. There are a couple TVs and a few plants. Cleanliness - I noticed some smudges on my water glass and realized they were inside. I asked for another water and the waitress quickly replaced it. She said the smudges were rice. Service - just one server. When it is busy (like it was when we were there, she is spread thin). She brought water but never asked if we wanted other drinks. One gentleman was drinking tea that looked really good. read more

This place is the bomb dot com. I am Korean and I can attest to the authenticity of the food here. I was so excited to find this place when I stayed at the Holiday Inn next door. Even more excited when I saw it's great reviews! I ordered a dwenjang jjigae and dweji bulgogi (pork). There's a lunch special until 2pm where the portions aren't as big so I finished both dishes! The food was flavorful and filled me up. It reminded me of home cooking and presentation of the food was amazing, as you can see from my picture. Also- 8 banchan!!! Banchan (side dishes) are free and usually restaurants don't give you so much, especially since I was eating by myself. I was amazed and happy at their generosity! The server is a kind lady who speaks both Korean and English. She checked up on me 2-3 times during my meal to make sure I didn't need anything. The warm barley tea she gave me was hot and great for the cold weather. Overall I would highly recommend this place! I'll definitely be back! read more

The restaurant was really busy when we arrived, which was around 6 pm. You seat yourself, so we sat down at a table nearby the entrance. The waitress was super nice and gave us our menus and some iced water. After we ordered it took a bit for the food to come out, but then again it was busy so that's natural. I really liked my soup, but that wasn't the case for my mother, who couldn't finish her soup. The intestines inside her soup felt like they weren't cleaned properly as she could taste a sand-like texture when she ate them. I wish that there could've been more side dishes that came out, too. It was a little bit of a shame that there was only 6. But other than that, it was an okay experience. However, I don't think we'll come here again. read more

A great first experience with Korean food! I've only ever eaten what I myself have cooked at home (japchae, bulgogi) and Jinmi provided a great first experience. Our waitress had such a fun personality and was great about informing my friend and I about the different dishes. We had the spicy octopus, japchae, and spicy marinated pork. Everything was fresh and flavorful! We also got lots of side dishes and it was fun trying the different flavors! It's a little pricy (spent about $60 for the above dishes) but portions we're very generous. Our server was attentive and made sure we were happy with our meal.
