I found this place by accident the first time I visited and now I'm hooked. Delicious food, relaxed environment, friendly people that take their time explaining all the dishes. It is a hidden gem. I'll be back again!!

Great services even when busy. All the items we have tried are very good. We try something new each visit & have not been disappointed yet. Smaller restaurant with big feel even when busy.

We had a really long day and thought a Korean restaurant would be quick and easy, especially with side dishes. However, this place took such a long time, almost 2 hours to serve the food. The side dishes didn't come out until the very end. There was only one large party other than us when we first got there. Another family came in, and they were also waiting until we were done with our food for their order. Disappointing. We got the stone bowl bibimbap, seafood pancake, and tofu soup, but none of it was remarkable. No refills on the side dishes either.

Busy on a wed evening but staff was attentive and food was delicious as usual. I usually come for the tofu soup or the cold buckweed noodles. Good value for all the yummy side dishes.

This is as authentic as it gets! THE OG Korean food spot of Anchorage. Super friendly staff that were very welcoming in such a tiny cozy location. The food comes with almost a dozen small plates of various kimchis, and other tasty dishes like tofu, and lotus. The combo of the rice and kimchi is very filling so don't be surprised when you get full after just a few bites! The flavors were amazing and incredibly complex, love the pork belly they serve here. Overall fantastic experience and to top it all off I once accidentally left my wallet and didn't realize it until 2-3 hours later, I called them up and the staff held onto it for safe keeping! So thankful to have eaten at an incredible restaurant with incredible food and hospitality! Easily earned a loyal customer who will be back guaranteed!

This was an excellent and authentic Korean restaurant. One of my coworkers was craving some galbi-tang so he picked this spot. It's fairly small inside but I did notice that there were a lot of people picking up take-out. The lady who seated us, also served us. She was very friendly. I wanted to try something new so I thought a Goat Stew sounded interesting. My order, the Goat Stew, came out in a hot, boiling bowl. It was a little spicy but fit perfectly with the flavor. The broth in itself could have been a little more favorable, but the vegetables/meat ratio was very good. We also ordered Mandoo and a Green Onion & Seafood pancake. They were both really delicious.

We were visiting Alaska for the first time and had a craving for Korean food with the family. We saw the great reviews on Yelp and decided to give this place a try. Started off with the seafood pancake (haemul pajun). Nice crisp good flavor-could have used more seafood in it. Pork bulgogi (dwaeji bulgogi). Not my favorite marinade, was maybe a little sweeter than my taste buds prefer, but tender with a mild spice. Squid stirfry (ojinguh bokkum) really enjoy the flavoring. Good combo of peppers, onions, cabbage, and the pieces of squid were tender The standout was the budae jigae (army stew)! It filled the 4 of us easily. Great layering of all the flavors-the broth was complex and delicious. It was Korean comfort food at its greatest. Would definitely order this one again.

Tried dining in possibly the first time ever- if we've been here before it's been years. Located in a mini strip mall across from Carr's Aurora on the west side. Best fried dumplings we've had... and we wanted to take home the sauce made for dipping them in! The bulgogi I had was so tender and delicious, and I liked all of the little side dishes our orders came with. My husband got the tofu soup which he loved. The service was great too, very attentive and helpful. We almost said "see you tomorrow!" Haha, we might actually go back tomorrow...

When you've got that craving for some bibimbap, this is the place to throw down! Lots of tasty side dishes. I think we had 9. The kimchi was the freshest and tastiest I have ever had. It wasn't as bitter and pungent as others. My wife said it was the freshest she has had since she lived in Korea. Fresh hot tea. While I was enjoying my clay pot of Korean perfection, the wonderful lady serving the whole restaurant brought out a grill to make Korean barbecue. The vegetable and pork belly looked and smelled delicious. Next time I'll order Korean barbecue. This isn't a fly in and out place. Sit down, enjoy the pictures and the fish tank. Sip on your tea. Service is a little slow, but the quality is well worth the wait. And if you make eye contact with the serving lady, she'll be right there ready to please!

Homemade kimchi dumplings and kalbi beef. Awesome!
    Justin H.

I really enjoyed the food from Home Town Restaurant. I had kimchi dumplings and kalbi beef. It was a picture perfect dish and the flavors were very well defined. I love beef and probably eat too much meat, but it was the kimchi dumplings I couldn't stay away from. I think I ate half of them before I even tried the kalbi beef, but once I did I was very happy. The kalbi beef is delicious, but doesn't stand out as exceptional like the kimchi dumplings. I finished off the kalbi beef in the first sitting, but I think I'll try something else with my kimchi dumplings next time. I'll be back!

My sister, my niece, and I ordered from here for the first time and we got the pork ribs, cheeseburger, hotdogs, baked beans, macaroni salad, and potato salad. The only problem was the hotdog just way too small to be worth $9.50, even if it comes with a small bag of chips. But, the flavor was freaking amazing! It tasted exactly like a barbecued hotdog should. It was totally worth it for me this time because she's amazing and is very generous! But as a regular basis thing, I'd go for it if money was no issue for me lol. Times are hard and inflation is high, so I get the higher prices, but I gotta watch me walket too. That's it. Only complaint lol. Otherwise is was freaking great! The sides were really good and flavorful. The macaroni salad was the most flavorful Ive ever purchased, as they are usually pretty bland. But all other macaroni salad has been trash compared to theirs lol. The potato salad was really good and the beans were super yummy! The hamburger was pretty good, lots of cheese, but we had to do some surprise errands and the box bounced around. We didn't get to eat until an hour later, so it soaked up all the juice from the pickle and was soggy with the juices of everything else by the time we got to it. Our fault, and it was still pretty good lol. But the ribs... My gracious. They were AMAZING! One of the reviews said they were dry and with lots of fat but I find that impossible. True, they weren't smothered in BBQ sauce in every crevice but even the non-covered parts were outrageously flavorful and perfectly moist. Maybe that person just doesn't normally eat pork ribs? There is bound to be some fat but on all of the many ribs we got, there was plenty of meat and the fat was minimal, and I was thankful lol. I hate a lot of fat, and it just wasn't anying more than normal pork ribs would have. But they definitely tasted better than normal lol. Just phenomenal! I'd spend my last $20 on that lol. But I, personally, would ask for extra BBQ sauce. Not because they are stingy with it or anything, I just.... I don't eat my food with some sauce, I eat my sauce with some food. I hate dry food lol. Which is why I can confidently say their ribs are not dry by any means! My sister and niece thought they were perfect, and my sister didn't want any ribs when I ordered lol. And most importantly, they are so super nice, and very generous! Very personable and great with communication. If the customer service isn't good, then it doesn't matter how good the food is and they certainly deliver in that, as well. Just an all in all fantastic experience. 5/5 stars. Would definitely recommend! *Update* I just had the left overs for dinner and it was still delicious the next day!

The pig meat (pork) was very good: the ribs and the pulled pork were above average. The brisket was A-OK. It was too dry and didn't have enough fat for me. The sides were very very below average. The beans were worse than you'd get out of a can. The coleslaw was dramatically underseasoned. It just tasted like shredded cabbage. The bread was as plain as can be. The only way I can recommend ordering from here is getting meat by the pound. The sides are offensive. I hope they can work on getting better sides, as the meat is decent.

The brisket was moist and fatty. It had huge chunks of fat, AS IT SHOULD. If you don't like fatty brisket, you dont' like brisket. Please stick to that tough, dry stuff that tastes like beef jerky from the gas station that ya'll call "brisket". The pulled pork was nicely smokey and charred, and not overly sweet! So much of the pulled pork in this town is over honeyed/corn-syrup'd/glazed/etc. It came with crinkle fries and coleslaw. The slaw was a brilliant mix of sweet and zesty flavors, loved it. For $20, it was a tiny bit on the high side, but ultimately well worth the cost! The service was funny and friendly, some of the best I've had in Anchorage. I will be back!

We stopped back by after and ordered the Denali Fries, Jambalaya, and a blackened catfish po boy. Yes, blackened catfish. I was also very skeptical. I must admit I was surprised at how amazing everything tasted. The blackened catfish sandwich was really good. The bread they use is so soft and chewy. The fish is flavorful and moist! The coleslaw it came with wasn't saturated in mayonnaise. It's was just the perfect dish. It was so filling I didn't eat the coleslaw. The portion to price ratio is perfect!! The jambalaya was soooooooo good. Drool worthy good. Rice cooked perfectly. Flavor on point! Right amount of heat. Full of veggies and meat. Just phenomenal. The Denali fries were probably the most fulfilling and surprising entree. I thought it would be a side of fries just loaded up. No! It's the whole container! Loaded with perfectly cooked fries, cheese, meat, jalapeños, and bbq sauce. Every single fry was loaded up. I low key felt guilty ordering them because I only ordered them so I didn't have to share my food with the kids if they were peckish. No one finished them. I highly recommend the Denali fries if you're super duper hungry. Even if you're sharing. There's a lot of bang for your buck there. A lot goes into the pulled pork on top. And for all of us environmentally conscious people out there, they use 100% composting containers. The containers turn to soil within 90 days. There's literally no waste. The service was a 10 out of 10. Can't beat it. Very personable, knowledgeable, and nice. Super upbeat and fun. I recommend this food truck. If you see it be sure to stop. They also have a Facebook you can check to see where they are any given day and what time. It's a must try. Drooling just writing this.

After we placed our order and the meat arrived as she was placing meat on the grill she dumped blood all over my side of the table and into my dipping sauces and I wondered if it was intentional, but I didnt say anything. Then she placed TWO WHOLE TRAYS OF MEAT ON THE GRILL at once which they are not supposed to do due to cross contamination and it takes too long for things to cook. Since you only have your table for 90 minutes, I also wondered if this was intentional. She didn't come back to check on us and I had to push the call bell to ask for help to turn up the heat since 20 minutes later the meat was still raw. Then when it was time to change to chicken they usually change the grill plate because the plate gets very smokey. She completely ignored us when I called for help. And when she finally did come back she let raw meat plates on our table, which I know they are not supposed to do. She kept giving us weird nasty looks- it was so strange.
