    3. Pork Cutlet Dosirak
    Dexter R.

Food is just ok. Banchan (sides) tasted weird/overly seasoned. The kimbap was salty too. The cutlet sauce wasn't great, probably just out of a bottle. Probably wouldn't be desperate enough to try it again.

Sorry I started digging into my food before I thought about the review lol spicy pork Bulgogi

Good place for a simple lunch. I ordered the Pork Cutlets and Gimbap. The Gimbap was large enough to have by itself as a meal - 2 rolls.

For example, a 21 oz Korean beer is $20. 2) The food takes a very long time to come out and...when it finally does, all the ban chan comes out with it? An easy fix to this: bring out the banchan FIRST! It's insane that you're sitting at your table 30+ minutes, starving...and then tons of food all comes out at the same time.

We honestly didn't expect to find an authentic Korean restaurant in Anchorage, much less one that exceeds many in the SoCal area, but we did!!!! The dishes were delicious - reminding us of Grandma's cooking! The service was great, the owner spoke in full Korean AND parts of the menu were only in Korean so we knew it was legit! Lol. And the BANCHAN!!! Omg!!! Take a look at my pics! They were endless! So many different delicious types and many of the roots and vegetables were hand picked from the area! The interior felt like a traditional Korean restaurant. Nothing fancy and plenty of room for a larger party. We enjoyed the meal so much that we put it into our itinerary to stop by again for our last meal before leaving Anchorage! I highly recommend!

But the macaroni salad...weird? Or am I missing something? It tasted like run of the meal, store bought macaroni salad. Is it for the non fermenters? Cause that ain't me! Those fermented side dishes were the stars, until the bibimbap came out. The clay pot was more a large plate, but it was HOT and it made the rice exactly like I like it: crispy on the bottom and soft on the top. All the accoutrements were tasty and blended well with the rice and sauce. I wasn't sure what each of them were, so I tried a little bit at a time. They all had some unique savory flavors. In the end I mixed them all together for a final flash and bang of flavor. Service was excellent. Maybe the owner, maybe the manager was also seated at the bar and he stopped by at the end of my meal to ask about everything. Friendly and professional. The restaurant is clean and has great lighting. When one walks in, the bbq side is to the right and there is a bar area to the left. There is both tables and bar seating.

They gave solid recommendations and even offered to start grilling the meats for us, which was a nice gesture and made the whole experience feel easy and chill. Prices are honestly very reasonable for Alaska, especially for Korean BBQ. They have a variety of tasty banchan--everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and there was a good variety to keep things interesting between bites. Overall, great food, great service, and just an all-around good spot to hang out, eat way too much meat, and have a good time. Definitely coming back.

When we arrived things we a little disorganized when they seated us, but the team was pleasant. But after that, things got weird. Our primary server Alaya had some seriously bad vibes that felt... directed at us. We watched the way she interacted with other people and it was definitely specific to our party. After we placed our order and the meat arrived as she was placing meat on the grill she dumped blood all over my side of the table and into my dipping sauces and I wondered if it was intentional, but I didnt say anything. Then she placed TWO WHOLE TRAYS OF MEAT ON THE GRILL at once which they are not supposed to do due to cross contamination and it takes too long for things to cook. Since you only have your table for 90 minutes, I also wondered if this was intentional. She didn't come back to check on us and I had to push the call bell to ask for help to turn up the heat since 20 minutes later the meat was still raw. Then when it was time to change to chicken they usually change the grill plate because the plate gets very smokey. She completely ignored us when I called for help. And when she finally did come back she let raw meat plates on our table, which I know they are not supposed to do. She kept giving us weird nasty looks- it was so strange. We were nice to her- i have no idea what her issue was. On our way out, we mentioned to the cashier how Alaya had ruined our experience. She asked if it felt "targeted"- so I think they've gotten, other complaints about her. We spent over $2oo on a 3 person meal, but i can assure you we won't be back if we're going to be treated like that. I'll save my business for WonJo.

Always look at newest reviews!!!…read more We saw the 4.4 red stars and thought this was gona be an amazing place. The first red flag was 1pm on week day and there was only 3 parties in the place. The one and only server was very nice, but being the only one, twice when new parties entered he would walk away. Wife ordered chicken katsu rice plate. The overall theme is everything is bland. EVERYTHING.. Her cabbage slaw/salad had a white creamy sauce, my best guess is mayo mixed with ranch but only if both was every kind of free there is, fat, sugar, carb, keto, and most importantly, taste FREE. Her rice was purple, there were purple chunks, not sure if it was potato, the rice was mushy, wet, and Bland. Her kutsu sauce was made from the same everything free ingredients. Come on man, Kutsu sauce is 3 ingredients and all three are bold flavors, how do you mess that up. But ok, they want to be fusion, maybe add some cilantro or chili. She asked for soy sauce and salt to try and add some flavor. Half way through she has me hold out my hand and pours a handful of the "salt" from the shaker. It was not salt granules, almost looked like a salt substitute. I honestly don't know what it was but when I tasted it I would be extremely generous by saying I got a 25% salt flavor. Normally, you put 2-4 tablespoons of salt in your hand and lick your finger, when you taste that, you get a powerful punch in the mouth of dam, that's salty. I was dumbfounded, if they are using that "salt" to cook with them makes since why everything is so bland. I don't want to repeat the Bland Bland Bland theme over and over. I had bulgogi, kutsu, and BBQ chicken tacos. I will skip to the end- yep, you guessed it, Bland. We did have the bulgogi egg roll, I do want to touch on this only because I was so mad at myself once we left I dug Into the reviews. These are one of the most positive commented items, BUT those comments are from over a year ago. Overall, 11$ for two small egg rolls cut in half is ridiculous. Then if you bite/taste just the egg roll, there is a 5% taste of bulgogi sauce. Which again is so explosive of a sauce. But, If you drown the egg roll in the creamy mild sriracha sauce then the egg roll is ok. If you forget what it should taste like and just concentrate on how did they make the sauce with no heat, then you could get at least a 2-2.5 star. Server deserves 5 stars, Food deserves 2 stars.

As was not suprised to find this store is even more dilapidated than the last time I was there. I highly doubt they worry about rotating stock ot would pass a health inspection if Anchorage bothered to do them anymore. They do have a pretty large kitchenware section (which is what I was looking for) but I was unable to locate what I needed. In general, I recommend looking elsewhere.

I think it is run by a Korean family, and not everyone was fluent in English but they're helpful if you ask (or try to be). Certain items may be on the pricey side (which is often unavoidable when you import items into Alaska), but overall I find the merchandise is priced reasonably. If you manage to grab them before they're sold out, try the Korean food - they sell kimbahp and jokbal near the register, and there is banchan towards the back. They even offer some of the less mainstream Korean treats, which is a pleasant surprise. I do wish they had more snacks, drinks, and sweets, but their overall merchandise range is diverse, and the vegetables appeared fresh. Definitely worth taking a peak if you're not intimidated by non-English signage.
