I actually missed this place the first time I drove by as it is hidden in between a liquor store and a laundry mat but do not let that fool you this is a hidden little gem. I had the Tom Yum noodles number 13 with beef and I had them make it spicy. it was really good and had a different flavor than I've ever tried but was just fantastic I would definitely order that again. Additionally I had the spring rolls with the peanut sauce to dip it in which everyone told me was super authentic..... I'm not sure if it was but it sure went down good. The waitstaff was super friendly and super helpful when it came to helping me decide what to get. If Vietnamese food is your thing or heck even if you just like good food do not miss this place you'll be glad you tried it. read more

I've visited twice. The pho is excellent. But the service was ok the first time and really really bad the second time. I was excited to take my son to this local Thai restaurant and we sat there at a table and waited for someone to acknowledge us for almost 20 minutes. There was only one other person at a table and maybe 3 people waiting for take out. Unfortunately we left without trying the pho for a second time. Saigon café is a new Vietnamese restaurant in a mini strip mall across from the Los Pinos Mexican restaurant. I have been to Saigon twice and have ordered both the Bun and the Pho. The fish sauce that comes with the Bun is quite good, and the char roasted pork and fried eggrolls that were on top were spot on. I ordered the medium pho as a part of the lunch combo for $7.95, it came with a can of soda and your choice of a spring roll or two egg rolls. I got the spring roll, and it was fresh but the peanut sauce could be better. They were a bit busy during lunch time, so it took about 13 minutes to get my food. Overall I will be back as its tough to find a good restaurant who knows how to cook Vietnamese. read more

Where I come from Pho is plentiful and there are usually more than a few Vietnamese restaurants to choose from. When I moved to Lakeway, I was deprived and disappointed with my one option until I discovered this wonderful place! The family who owns it are so pleasant and grateful that you came in. Very, very good! Like a lot of people, we found this little gem somewhat by accident. We were not disappointed! The Special Eggrolls are outstanding and could be a meal all on their own. Marvelous place. Tiny mom and pop, about 15 minutes from Four Points. My reviews are pretty critical, so for me to give a 5 star, well, it's rare! The owners/cooks were kind and you had the privilege of eating food as they would cook it for their own family. I had the Charcoal Pork with Vermicelli, and my dining partner had the Pad See Ewe. I requested some mint, when really I meant basil and was brought a lovely plate of greens including cilantro and Thai basil Which made the dish even more awesome. The Pad See Ewe great on all counts. I call those wide soft noodles "velvet noodles" because they taste like it! We did order Spring Rolls at the beginning and my slightest ding is that the wrapper was incredibly chewy, and, as I make them on occasion , I would say they were not soaked long enough. Another 30 seconds would have made them great as well as either mint or basil inside. All in all, can't wait to go back! read more

Well we found one. Its located in a little strip mall area next to a dive bar and a liquor store. The inside is like any other Vietnamese restaurant in any city. We had put in a long week, I wasn't in a mood to cook and leftovers were a no go. We decided to try Saigon Cafe - a new addition to our neighborhood since it was so close. Wow! I was not expecting anything this good from this little cafe. My husband had the Shaken Beef, I had the Nature Symbols and both were fresh, perfectly cooked and beyond tasty. We started with the egg rolls, which were savory, crisp and not the tiniest bit oily/greasy - perfect! Our dishes are served with white rice, but we wanted to substitute with fried rice to try it out - I haven't had better fried rice anywhere. I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes! The thing I like about Yelp is it's real people posting real reviews. Just got back home from having dinner with my friend, Maggie. She and her husband have been to Saigon Cafe several times and had talked about how good it is. I can't even describe how good it was. I love Korean, Japanese, Thai, Chinese food, etc. but this was UNREAL. When we first arrived, the place was PACKED but thankfully we only had to wait a few minutes for a 2 person table to open. I understand that they are going to expand into the place next door which is definitely needed. We ordered the crab rangoon and the steamed dumplings for appetizers - OMG....so good. I've had crab rangoon at other Chinese, etc. restaurants around town and they are NOT made from scratch - probably came from a bag. This was MADE FROM SCRATCH - fresh green onion, crab meat (probably Krab with a K but it was still great), cream cheese,etc - fantastic. The steamed dumplings were made from scratch - also very, very good. I ordered S1 (the steak and shrimp special) and my friend Maggie ordered a seafood combo. OMG - GET THE FRIED RICE. Also, get the Jasmine rice but order both. The fried rice was the best I've ever had. The steak and shrimp combo was soooooooo flavorful that I ate almost the entire plate. The flavors were just out of this world good. I am beyond impressed with this place. It's in a rather obscure location off of Hudson Bend Road (across the street from Los Pinos) but it is SO worth the drive. I will be eating her MUCH more often. I was so excited to find out there was a new pho restaurant in the neighborhood. I've have yet to dine in, always get my order to go. But I can truly say that it's the best pho I have had in a while! I eat it a least once or twice a week. Love love love it!!!!! The staff are so friendly and great service ( help carry my order to the car if my order is large :-) lol). My faves are the Pho Thai chin (veggies are fresh and the broth is to die for), cheese rolls, egg rolls, crab Rangoon and the Thai tea. So delicious!!!!! read more

This is a great family run restaurant with friendly service. It is a quality place for take out or to eat in. I love their Thai Tea and I recommend their pho, it is amazing. Typically their fried rice/rice dishes have less sauce/flavor than I prefer, but it also makes it taste more home-made and you can taste all the ingredients because the sauce doesn't take over. That would be the only reason I did not give if the 5th star. It is reasonably priced and it is one of few Vietnamese cuisine restaurants in this area so I am super excited to have it in the neighborhood!!! read more

Barton Creek Square's Ruby Thai kitchen has much tastier, spicier and FRESHER food than this. Don't say I didn't tell you. Gave it 2 stars only because I didn't get sick after eating here; I ain't goin' back. Also: they run the disgusting laundromat next door. Went there to try to wash a rug; the place was filthy, dirty, disgusting, broken machines, creepy and horrible. The first washer I used had no water in it. There are only about 10 tables and three were occupied at the time of my visit. It was a disappointing meal at Saigon Cafe today. But let me begin with the positives. Three people greeted me upon arrival and instructed me to choose a table. The service was fast and the food was served hot. Portions were average and appropriate. The shrimp spring rolls were good, but not great. Now for the negatives. The peanut sauce accompanying the spring rolls was the worst I have ever tasted. It was so watery and had no peanut flavor to it at all. The chicken dish had almost no brown sauce and lacked flavor. The space could use some redecorating. It is not very warm or inviting. Somehow we had a mixup on our carryout order. We got home with one bag that obviously was not ours. We called to explain our problem. We offered to go pick up the new order. The owners insisted on delivering the new order to us personally. We thought this was over and beyond what a person should expect for service. We tried to tip them, but they refused. Absolutely Terrible. Waited for 15 min on a to go order. Teriyaki chicken is served in tin foil covered with cold uncooked Teriyaki sauce. Rice was even very low quality.
