Wahoo's is a very casual, eclectic spot with a California coastal vibe. It has a Mexican base, but you can feel other influences mixed in. It's relaxed, unfussy, and easygoing. For an inexpensive place, it's pretty good. The portions were generous, and it works well if you're looking for a quick bite or small plates without spending a lot. What I enjoyed: The enchiladas were my favorite -- very good. The taquitos were also well done and flavorful. I asked for flour tortillas with butter, which they gladly brought out (just make sure to request it). The mango beer was excellent -- definitely a highlight. They offer happy hour drinks, and it wasn't overly busy when I went. They also have a large outdoor patio, which is nice if you enjoy sitting outside. Next door there appears to be more of a biker-style bar atmosphere, which gives the area a very casual, laid-back feel. There was a small mix-up at first -- I ordered a beef enchilada but was given chicken by mistake. However, they handled it properly and didn't charge me for the error, which I appreciated. Well this place is known for live music on the weekend I have yet to have made it out there for that. They do have an incredibly large outdoor shaded seating area so I can only imagine it's amazing. I've been here twice for the fish tacos I had one burrito one time I think it was called onion Hawaiian beef roll or something like that I would skip that it was OK but I would skip that and go straight to the fish tacos get the more expensive ones they taste better. Also disappointed in the nachos they were just kind of a soggy mess nothing to write home about would've been better off just getting tacos instead. The chips don't hold up to the toppings. But live and learn. Staff here has been nice both times I've come in. Ordering is easy you order either at the bar or there's a person at the counter that can take your order and then you sit and wait with a number for your order to come out They do have a nice choice of salsa bar so you can make it hot or not depending on what you like there are jalapeños lines etc. Beer selection was lacking for a bar. Do you want light beer this light beer or a different light beer or an IPA ughhhh no. How about an Amber or something with flavor? This might compete for the new top happy hour in LT/Four Points. Half off apps and cheap beer and margs, how could you go wrong. They have a handful of different salas to choose from, and plenty of great food options. We ordered the taquitos, spicy fish tacos and mild fish tacos. The mild wahoo was easily the favorite. Two words: so gross. These positive reviews are written by delusional gringos. The food is so bland and basic. OMG the salsa...what was that? Not edible. The fish taco has potential but it's paper thin and all breading. Bar service makes weak drinks and spends too much time chit chatting with regulars and flirting with staff your food will come out before your first drink. Tried Wahoo's Tacos and I'm officially a fan. This is such another great spot for watching games, hanging out with friends, and just vibing for a while. My favorite part? Found this place while on the way to Lake Travis off 620 and had to turn around and give it a try. It's fairly close to the Mason Dam for reference. Once inside, the beach decor will make you feel like you are at the Texas coast. It's a fun place and it makes for a relaxing time. For service, head to either the bar or the counter. After you order, you will get a table locator tag and then the food is served to you. Quick and simple. I went with the crispy fried flounder protein bowl and wifey settled on the protein bowl with carnitas and chicken. The flounder reminded me of my childhood memories of fish sticks. The bowl insides were good and the fish was just ok. The carnitas bowl was tasty but the chicken was a bit bland. Both dishes are ok if you are looking for an above average meal. We had the Carnitas nachos and Chicken quesadilla, I felt like I could make both dishes at home with minimal effort and it would be tastier. The restaurant has two driveways, with parking available in the back. There's outdoor seating and a stage for live entertainment on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. We visited on a Sunday, so the vibe was calm and relaxed. There's plenty of indoor seating, and we really enjoyed the decor and music. This is such a great neighborhood spot! I love the casual atmosphere and ample seating. There is a ton of outdoor seating and dogs are welcome. I sat at an outdoor bar for an early dinner one night and had a good evening. We tried queso, street tacos, and a burrito. No complaints on the food, fresh ingredients, plated nicely, came out fast. I'll start by saying this. I never leave negative reviews for any business without thinking things through because I know the impact negative reviews can have, which affect not only the ownership's investment in the business, but also the good hardworking employees. I was excited when I saw Wahoo's opened up in Austin a few miles from my home after being a regular customer at several of their locations in SoCal before moving here in 2020. I read through all of the reviews for this location and there is a consistent pattern of reviews by California transplants who are disappointed overall with their experience at the new ATX restaurant compared with what they were used to having in SoCal. I came by for lunch after my workouts about 2x a week for a couple of months until I saw no improvement in the food quality, customer service, and atmosphere. I'll break down the problems I experienced below, so anyone reading this knows why I haven't been back in several months. - The entrees are significantly smaller in size than what I got at other Wahoo's locations and half of the time, part or all of my entrées came out too cold. - Most of the employees working the register are not properly trained, and I attribute this to a lack of management presence. I don't know about the evenings, but during the day there is only one manager who floats between the three different restaurants that are part of the same ownership group. - After a customer places their order and the employee behind the counter tells you the total, they will flip the payment screen around without telling you they've added a 25% gratuity. You have the option to change it manually, but it's sneaky and can easily be overlooked if someone doesn't look closely at the total, which has been changed after an additional 25% has been added. Keep in mind, this would happen after they would see me put cash in the tip jar as well... Not cool! - The bartenders, or whoever is in charge of the music during the day, play the music at a volume that's way too high. One time, when I could barely hear the employee behind the counter while placing my order during the day, I asked the bartender if he could turn it down because it was impossible to hear the employee behind the counter. He looked at me like I was crazy. And it's not just too loud by the counter area, but also in the rest of the indoor dining rooms. - The final straw for me at this Wahoo's location came when I was ordering at the counter one day and wanted an extra a la carte taco removed from my order when I realized it cost over $8. The employee taking my order at the counter was brand new and the guy helping him told me it was his first day and the guy training him told me he had only been there a week. After about 3 minutes of nothing happening and the line of customers getting longer behind me, I suggested he get a manager or someone else to help them. Another employee who was doing something next to them at the counter, started to walk away, and I asked him if he could help them remove an item from my order. I did not raise my voice and I was being respectful, but he took it upon himself to tell me, 'Just relax!" and put his hand up in front of my face acting like I was some kind of irate customer causing a big scene. It's a shame the people in charge at this location can't figure out how to make things better and unless things change, I doubt this location will survive in Austin... read more

We have really been liking these guys as they are close to where my parents live and they have a great happy hour. The fried fish tacos are my favorite. I also really like their spicy white beans. Margaritas are strong and are on happy hour. Pro tip: If you happen to use the inKind app, you can get cash back here. As an Orange County native, I was excited to see a familiar face in what any discerning eater would consider the food desert that is Lakeway. My memories of Wahoo's in Costa Mesa are some of my favorites, so this was a welcome addition. Service: Friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. Big plus there. Food: Overall, just fine. The tacos are yummy, and the salsas really carry the meal--they don't play around. Chips: Absolutely terrible. Stale, possibly the worst I've had in Austin (and that's saying something given Austin's generally weak chip game). Almost impressive how bad they are. Drinks: Okay. Not great, but serviceable. If you're coming here just to drink, there are better local options. Ambiance: Beautiful property with a nice vibe. But the location is tricky--it's on that bend of 620 that's famous for high business turnover. Overall: It's not the Wahoo's I remember from Wing Lam days (but that's to be expected from a franchise on the comeback trail). Still, I'm rooting for them. Lakeway needs more places like this, and if Jesse really has his heart in it, there's room to grow. read more

Being called "bro" every 30 seconds doesn't improve the experience, and the salsa is downright awful. On all three visits they've been out of teriyaki sauce--apparently it doesn't "arrive" until 5pm, which is bizarre for a signature menu item. My experience with Wahoos has been entirely from So. California and I was so excited when I found out they were opening one in Austin. It had not disappointed!
