I cannot give this restaurant and it's owners/staff high enough rating. 5 stars does not compare. They are so nice, and the food is top notch. I've been going here for years, studied for many exams in its old restaurant, and I love the new place. Still you can sit but so fast for takeout now. Expect a lot of lunch orders from me. Props to the chef for keeping the same flavors as the old shop. The pho is just as clean and fresh tasting as I remember. It's like eating your way through a fresh Meadow of beef and herbs. Saigon Bay has been my go to restaurant before my Yelping day. They have been upgraded their restaurant interior to better open look since my first visit in 2002. Food is still good, they do have some royal customers to keep the restaurant open is a testimonial. Today I have the grilled pork chop rice. It come with fried spring roll, rice and the pickle salad. The spring roll is crispy. The pork chop is marinated with sweet soy sauce. They have given two chop in the dish. Good quantity. Food is good. I have added the avocado boba Yogurt. The taste is good and the boba is chewy. We have table of seven. The food come out quick. Even one dish was mistaken too spicy, the replacement dish was on the move quickly. Service is good. When my friend and I first entered, it was clean. The music is nice and peaceful. The staff was very friendly. Our server was great! I didn't catch his name. He was able to switch our pork for the pad thai. Initially it was suppose to be roasted pork but, he brought out a sample of the marinated pork. It was so delicious and he offered to switch it out. The fresh rolls really did taste fresh and the peanut sauce was good. Their selection of food was great. They have a vegetarian selection by the way.The prices are cheap which I was glad about. Confession: this is my favorite local restaurant in the Temple Terrace area, and perhaps my favorite Vietnamese restaurant of all time. I visit the restaurant about once per week. At this point, I am surprised that I did not write a review sooner. Saigon Bay is family owned and the wait staff are very friendly. I could go on and on about this wonderful family, who I am now on a first name basis with, but instead I'll stick to the basics. I highly recommend the beef pho, any of the fried rice options, the pork bun, pork chop platter, and the spring rolls with shrimp. More often than not, I order the beef pho with extra beef and ask for a side of the chili oil. When you come in they will tell you to pick out a table and will follow the basic routine. Definitely ask for their recommendations. Jason (a wonderful server) has often recommended the fish (I believe it's a whole salmon). I plan to continue making this place an affordable and regular part of my week; attending with friends, family, and USF colleagues. Thank you Saigon Bay! read more

You are instantly greeted with a feeling of WOW! Where am I?! It was busy for lunch but we were seated quickly. It is a mom and pop feel restaurant and that's a good thing. They were already saying hello to us as we walked in and seated us in an area that, if no other tables were by you would have though a panda would walk up next to you. The decor is absolutely adorable! I love the bamboo feel and the little touches all around the dining room. We tried the hot tea and Vietnamese coffee. They were both very delightful. All of the meals came out looking so absolutely fresh and totally clean. You won't find that feeling at many other Vietnamese restaurants but that also hinders as you want some fat and gristle on your meat for that other bit of zest. Nevertheless, the food was very tasty and the pho broth was full and flavorful. After reading all of the rave reviews, I had to stop by and give Saigon Bay a try. The convenient location and menu options were enough to bring me in, even without any reviews. But, those menu items are not actually available to my surprise. The facilities and decor are nice enough, nothing particularly fancy about them. The waitress appeared to be rushed, even though there were only three tables of customers. They were sold out of Beef Stew with Baguette, Che Ba Mau, and any choice of Banh Mi. Sooooo... I ordered a rice plate with pork chops, it was just decent. I could have cooked something better at home. The chops were a thicker cut and still a little dry. The Pho lacked depth of flavor, and I even recognized the brand of bouillon cube used to create it. It was sad to see such wilted herbs and browned sprouts served on the side. There are many Vietnamese restaurants in Tampa worthy of trying, even on the same street as Saigon Bay. I recommend trying to somewhere else. I wish I did. read more

I normally don't go to Vietnamese restaurants to eat pho since I can have it at home but my friend wanted to come. I was genuinely surprised by how good and authentic it was! I got the pho dac biet, which is the typical pho with beef slices, tenderloin and tripe. It was really delicious and very close to what I think of when I think of home and comfort food. I only recently tried the pho dac biet at this restaurant and needless to say, it's not bad for those on a budget! The broth was flavorful and the meat quantity was more than I had expected. My sister got the pho ga and also raved about the quality of the broth. However, if you've never dabbled in the Vietnamese cuisine and want to be safe with your choice, I recommend their fried rice. Every time I get it, I always take home leftovers because of how much they give and hey, that's not at all a bad thing! The servers are prompt with seating guests, taking orders, and even bringing out the food in an ample amount of time. The decor as someone has described it is very "bamboo zen." My stomach was satisfied. The banh mi was absolutely delicious as well..we had to get one to go since we live 4 hours away! I've had so many bowls of pho in my lifetime and this one was one of the best. It's been a month since I've had this place and Im still craving it which is why I'm writing this review! I was really surprised by the prices and quality of food of this restaurant! The banh mi here was only $4 and it was delicious. I recommend getting the grilled pork if you go that route. They give you all of the usual toppings by default (cilantro, cucumber, carrots, onion, and jalapeño). They also have a lunch menu where you can get some of their dishes at even better deals. Unfortunately, even though we came in past the start of their lunch specials, the servers didn't give us their lunch menu and I had to ask for it. Other than that, the deals were pretty good. My friend ordered their tofu dish as pictured. Service was quick and waiter was friendly! There was no wait when we arrived, and we were seated right away. Although a lot of pho restaurants can be hit or miss, Saigon Bay proves to be dependable every time. Located just minutes from USF, it is a really convenient location to grab lunch with friends or during a study break. Just from a glance, the menu has various pho, bun (vermicelli rice bowls), rice platter, and banh mi options. Although the food isn't absolutely astonishing, it is worth the the amount that you're paying for, especially since their portions are large enough to have some leftover. Personally, I always order the pho dac biet or bun bo hue. I would say that they give a generous amount of noodles and enough meat to satisfy your hunger. The broth has enough flavor, and isn't watered down like a lot of other restaurants. However, I wasn't a big fan of they're curry, but I also wouldn't go to a Vietnamese restaurant for curry anyways. The restaurant is full of traditional decor, and has sufficient space to host large parties. The waitress, who may also be the owner, is very nice and friendly, despite having a small language barrier. If you come in a few times, she'll remember you and will joke with you too! read more

Just stared eat Pho, and have only been to SB. So here is the deal, how can I tell if it is bad Pho? And how can I tell if the other food is as good as the Pho Ga, as that is all I eat lol!! This is our favorite restaurant in the whole USA. We are a traveling family and come to Tampa for one month a year. Last year we discovered this amazing, delicious restaurant and this year when we came back to Tampa we knew where we are going to eat lunch. This year our newborn baby joined us when we entered the restaurant and we were amazed to see that even after all that time that passed, and how full the restaurant is alway , they remembered us! The family that runs this restaurant is so nice, worm and the service is wonderful and attentive. We ate here most of our lunches in this month and were so sad when we knew that soon we will have to go back home and miss it. The food is absolutely delicious. It's fresh (we actually saw one day one of the owners preparing the accompaniment for the soup we ate), authentic and we tried many of their appetizers and couldn't agree which one is better because all of them were outstanding. The prices are very reasonable and the ambiance is calm and nice. We are sure we will be back not only for the delicious food, but for the wonderful personal service and the great touch this family gave to the restaurant which feels more like eating at home, away from home. The best vietnamese place around the usf area! Everything is good- pho, bun bo hue, bún, pork chop rice platters...appetizers, coffee! Family owned and run, and they're super nice. They're closed on Wednesdays and I think they close earlier like 9pm. Pretty casual and prices are reasonable, definitely worth it. read more
