Sad to say tonight will be my last visit here. As I have pointed out before, they have gotten stingier and stingier with the amount of protein that they put on the bowl, but now it has gone over the top. I came in tonight and placed my usual order. There was *no signage* on the glass case whatsoever mentioning a price increase. I only saw the price increase once around to the other side of the case at the register, at which point of course it is too late because you have already had your food made. I had noticed, while they were making my bowl (before I realized they were going to charge an arm and a leg for it), that this was probably the least protein I have gotten so far. I internally rolled my eyes because, as I said, they've been reducing the protein for some time. There *might* be 15 tiny little cubes of tuna and what is supposedly a double protein bowl. So I clicked it of course, everything started looking and sounding JUST as good. Turned to my mom and said "we're getting this for lunch!" I got the Beach Bum and we got the Tofu Bao. The bowl was so light and fresh tasting I love how they cut up the tempura shrimp rather than other places that leave the whole thing in. The poke itself was very delicious. I love that they have cream cheese, which I tried once in a poke place and fell in love with it with my poke. The reason why it wasn't a five star review is because the prices are a little crazy to me. 3 slices of avocado is an extra $1 or so. I also wasn't a fan that sauces are .50 extra so the poke comes out to be dry unless you pay a few dollars extra for decent sauce. I have been wanting to try the place forever and I finely did. It's in a strip mall and very clean but plain. The servers were nice and quick. I knew they had the bowls but didn't know they had Pho which my husband absolutely loves. I did get the salad bowl with spicy tuna and crab. I had 3 sauce's added and a few more veggies and it was sooooo yummy! The serving size was great and everything was fresh! My husband had the beef and meatball pho and said it was great as well. Super fresh seafood and very friendly staff! I love getting a salad bowl with all the veggies to choose from and the original spice sauce. Their salmon is always clean and the portion of 1 scoop is generous. Sometimes I get two scoops if super hungry. I also recommend their fresh summer rolls and typically customize mine to remove the pork and add jalapeño which they do for a very small charge. Cons: There is not enough rice in the bowl and they don't mix the sauce with the rice by fork like U Poke Spot. My bowl had large clumps of rice without sauce and taste. The Spicy Tuna was too finely cut and "mushy". Other places have the fish as distinct pieces. It reminded of the Spicy Tuna roll at the nearby Sushi Cafe. No bueno. Only 1 sauce is allowed per bowl. A 3 protein custom rice bowl is $16. Compared that to U poke at $13.50, it seems a bit much. This is New Tampa - a more affluent area so I understand prices will be a bit higher. However, Fresh Kitchen is only a few feet from Poke Island and I can get a large amount of food for $10-14 and feel satisfied. I was still hungry after eating at Poke Island. Misc: There is only 1 bathroom and it is unisex. They sell soda by individual cans for $1.25. I would have preferred fountain style drinks. They have boba. My teen is Poké and sushi obsessed so in a day of errands we stopped here for lunch. We both ordered a bowl. I got tuna and he got salmon. I had the salad base with veggies and a spicy sauce and he had the rice base with veggies and eel sauce. He got a Boba tea with mango popping bubbles and I had a sparkling water. The bowls were absolutely delicious, and they were fresh tasting and generous with all of the toppings. He absolutely loved his Boba tea and it came in a really cute cup. We were iffy about this place for a long time but craved some pho and poke so decided to give it a shot for convenience of getting both dishes at the same time. The prices are high when compared to other pho and poke places, but the amount of food you get is very little, comparably as well. The taste was also not as good - the pho broth tasted like they made it with vegetables or very little beef bones, and the poke was lacking in toppings. Other places include seaweed salad and masago, this places charges you $2+ for it as just a topping. Unless they make some serious improvements, will not return as we feel many places offer better quality/quantity of food for the price. read more

STOP, you don't need this review just go there and eat good food. This little poke/ pho/ sushi and boba place is 5 star. The small location doesn't leave much space for a ton of patrons to sit and eat, it's defiantly designed as a take out spot but the food and service where among some of the best take out spots. They have a large assortment of fish and topping for a poke bowl and as you skim their menu, you'll also find sushi, rice bowls, noodle bowls and PHO! I've eaten a lot of Pho in my life and I'd say they make a spot on good bowl (I wouldn't say it's #1 pho but for a take out place it was great) We also had some sushi and a couple of boba drinks. At this store, everyone is very friendly. The food is fantastic, very clean and freshly prepared. The vermicelli rice noodle with pork, brisket pho, and light sweetened passion fruit tea are all excellent choices. The cooked rolls are also delicious, but if you've already ordered noodles, they may be too filling. I've also had their poke bowl delivered by Uber. Very well-packaged. I am very disappointed with this venue after today's experience. Multiple issues happened today. I've already spoken to the manager and they heard what they heard and I said what I said so we are going to have to leave it at that. But I called in to order beef pho, plain with just noodles and beef slices. Apparently the associate heard 'beef balls'?! And put them in as meat ball pho orders. I picked them up, can home and NO BEEF. I called and said I was charged for two beef phos and the manager (Lina) apologized for the inconveniences and said she'd have beef ready and offered to throw in summer rolls. The whole time nobody says the order is beef MEATBALLS or not. I assumed that it was beef slices we always get. I sent in my daughter to pick them up. She comes back, open the containers - there are meatball instead of beef slices. So I called back and spoke to Lina again, and she says both she and the associates thought I said 'BEEF BALLS' over the phone instead of "BEEF PHO' so she was adamant becUse that's what they heard over the phone and what it sounded like they stand by them. She kind of made it sound like my pronunciation was WRONG and causing the confusion. This. Really. Offended me. So many levels. It took a lot of restraint to advise her that her associates should learn to repeat back the order or at least clarify 'meat balls or beef sluces' instead of 1) accusing me of mispronouncing it and thereby gaslighting me on the whole confused situation 2) and blaming ME for not saying beef SLICES instead of balls. So she did not offer any more apologies or any mediation. I've ordered there 4-5 times in the past and always get the same thing and did not happen. This was the first time they truly royally messed up, but the damage was so great and offensive on so many levels, I will never ever o back or recommend this place. So advice to you yelpers, make sure you say beef SLICES AND DONT SAY BEEF PHO' because then their mistakes are owneoys on YOU according to this restaurant. read more

It is ALL THAT and more. The reason that I know that Poke Island Plus is official is because it has been opened for a while and my first visit was well after it has been opened. That is usually when you can see the quality of the restaurant, when a restaurant is new, they always provide the best service and the best food. The true test is do they maintain that same service and quality after they have been opened a while. I decided to get a poke bowl because a friend was talking about them and remembered there was one up the street in the Hunter's Village strip. When I went inside, I didn't know what I wanted and the gentleman there was patient and told me to take my time. I'm not a regular poke consumer so I had to do research for the best combinations and after picking a white rice, ahi tuna, steamed shrimp, avocado, cucumbers with tempura flakes, spicy mayo and eel sauce...it was DELICIOUS!!! Like really really good. It was just a deconstructed sushi roll to me. While I was there, I noticed that they had pho on the menu and bao buns...I was skeptical because it is a poke place. I found myself back at Poke Island the next day because it was a cold day and I wanted to try the pho. WHOA! I am taken aback...this place is too close to home with such tasty food. This is DANGEROUS!! The pho was so good. The broth was not watered down, it was hearty like what I am accustomed to at Saigon Bay! It was official pho with the hoisin and jalapeno slices. Authentic! I also ordered the bao buns just out of curiosity and they were wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than the bao buns that I've had at Token Ramen and Michi Ramen. They were a bit smaller but much tastier and the presentation was better as well.
