I was trying to kill time before a meeting but I didn't have time for a full sit down meal. I pass this place often and it's in a small, unsuspecting plaza so I checked the reviews, they looked good, and I figured I'd try it out. Being entirely honest, I wasn't as impressed as the reviews led me to hope. The server was very sweet and helpful, but they were out of a LOT of stuff. The snack case was literally about empty. Despite many reviews saying you could order your tea and also donuts from the mochi donut place a few doors down at the same time, no such option was available. I was offered Boba and when asked what kind, almost none but the regular "crunchy" was available (I'd call it chewy not crunchy but I digress). With that in mind, its a very cute shop. The vibe is nice, pretty relaxed and easy to settle into. The tea was absolutely delicious. I got a honey milk tea and it was really good. A regular came in behind me and recommended the fresh fruit tea which theyre apparently known for so I may give that a shot next time. Because a mildly disappointing experience definitely doesnt mean there won't be a next time! This is by far my favorite boba place. I always get the brown sugar milk tea extra sweet. It has a great flavor that I haven't found anywhere else. The service is kind of hit or miss. This Ding Tea used to be a solid 4.5 stars two years ago but has gone down hill ever since. I used to come here at least once a week years ago but I told my self to stop coming here until they start to care again, so I recently visited to see if anything changed but with my experience it showed me not to comeback to this franchise again ever. Ding tea Tampa, has been serving old watered down beverages and their sanitation has plummeted. It can be one person in the store for hours but all the other tables are rarely clean, and floors are dirty. If you expect to grab a quick snack from what they offer don't even bother, it could be a minute after they open and they won't have any in stock. Don't get me started on the service, it's just not a welcoming environment anymore, their either on the phone making you wait or rushing your order to get the person behind you as if money is going to fly away; and for $7+ for a drink it feels as though no one cares. After tip your drink is over 8.50,comes as one set size, leaking and watered down, don't waste your time coming here. Go to teastori on Fowler instead the employees are sweet and you get the most for your money along with fresh Boba. read more

Pros: Clean and cute interior. You can modify the sugar content similar to Kung Fu. The boba itself was soft and chewy. They have a physical stamp card- 10 purchases gets a free drink.(Kung Fu switched to an app that makes it more cost prohibitive to get a free drink) They seem to come up with new drinks every so often. The Thai Tea was one of the better iterations I've had from a boba place and rivaled some from a few dedicated Thai restaurants. I would recommend getting it. The Strawberry Coconut Butterfly had a sweet coconut taste and the strawberry solution at the bottom was tasty. I don't know what the "blue" part is supposed to taste like, but it looked pretty though! Adequate parking Cons With tax, each drink costs about $7.15 (both Thai Tea and Strawberry coconut butterfly) Kung Fu /Kaleisia near USF are about $5.60 on average. When I arrived to Ding tea they were working on a pretty big order of 8 teas. I was greeted promptly and they took my order. I got a Thai milk tea and a strawberry mango smoothie. It took about 15 minutes which is understandable, they were busy with a big order in front of me. My smoothie came out wrong, it had boba in it and I had ordered it with no boba. The man took it back and remade it. When it was finished they handed to me as the big party left. When I inquired about the Thai tea the woman working told me she accidentally gave it to the big party and to run after them. I had to knock on their car window to get my drink. Nothing to rave about, but at least it was good. If you do decide to grab a bite to eat be aware you'll have to walk two doors down to the Mochi Donut space they seem to be partnered with. They offer curbside and take credit cards! We were in the area and the moment I read on the Yelp page that they offer curbside, I was sold. When we arrived, I called and placed my order, matcha milk tea with black boba. There were quite a few people there and the parking lot was pretty busy. I'm glad they do curbside, because I wouldn't have wanted to walk in. I freaked out while waiting that they would only accept cash. I remember Got Tea only took cash and I had to use the ATM when I was there before. Thank you Melony R. for writing in your review that they do accept credit cards. That saved me a few more minutes of freaking out. It took a little while for them to bring out my drink, but like I said, they were a bit busy. Only reason I noticed is because I had a toddler freaking out that we weren't moving. The employee wore a mask and brought out my drink. She took my credit card back inside, charged it and brought it back. I assumed I was going to be able to write a tip when she brought the card back, but I didn't get the chance. Therefore, I owe them a tip and if you do curbside don't forget to tell them if you want to tip when they take your card away. The drink itself was good. Next time I think I'm going a step down in sweetness level. I did 100% and I didn't think it was too sweet, but I'm interested to see what the next step down tastes like. Ding is just alright in the bubble tea arena. Ding took the place of 'Got Tea' which was my number 2 behind Kalesia Tea. Ding doesn't make it in the top 3. Kung Fu is now my number 2. Anyway, my go to is the taro or matcha slush/snow. They didn't have slush on the menu but I was pleased when they said that they could make the milk teas into slush which is really the way I prefer to drink them unless it's a fruit-like tea or tea-lemonade. The taste was a bit powdery. That's a no-no for me. I do like the fact that they take credit/debit because Got Tea was all cash and I always forgot. Good boba in a cute, clean cafe with great service. This is one of two new Ding Tea locations in Tampa. It is in the plaza where the original Yummy House used to be. They have a good selection of teas, slushes, juices and add ons. I had a classic milk tea, 25% sugar (which was still plenty sweet) with sea cream on top (basically like getting a salted caramel cream float on top of my tea). It was really good. My son had a kiwi slush with rainbow jelly, and he wanted to go back the next day for another one. My daughter had a strawberry milk tea. She was not a fan, but I think that's because she prefers popping boba to jelly. They also serve food like popcorn chicken and spring rolls. So I was FINALLY able to stop by Ding Tea to try one of the drinks. ABFAB! As you can see from the pix, there wasn't much left by the time I got home to New Tampa. Five stars for the super helpful staff & delicious drink. It was the kumquat lemon ice tea with crystal boba and you could taste every single component of the mix. Since I'm not into really sweet drinks, they suggested 75% sweetness & it was perfect. I have to admit that this is only the 2nd time I've had crystal boba, and the slightly crunchy texture was initially a little surprising. The first time I had it I actually thought they were under cooked. Now I know that's their proper texture. And yes, I think that's an actual kumquat in the drink. Whatever it is, it tastes food. We came here because we were craving boa boa. This replaced the other tea place that was originally here when the plaza burned down. I was sad when it burned down because this was our go to spot! They have special precautions for COVID where it is mostly a contactless ordering process. We are to call and place our order and they come out and bring the order to you. They have PPE on, so I felt confident it was safe. Their selection is vast from milk teas to green teas. It was hard to decide what to get. I like their different flavors.
