On our way from home to Busch Gardens, we decided to stop at Lunar Coffee for a quick coffee break. We found parking right outside the coffee shop and went straight to the counter to order our coffee. After looking at the menu, we ordered a Matcha Latte and a Double Espresso. The matcha latte was expertly prepared and absolutely delicious, tailored perfectly to my spouse liking. My spouse, who is a big fan of matcha lattes, also thoroughly enjoyed it. The double espresso was also well-made, featuring an excellent espresso shot. I really wanted to like the matcha here, but it fell short for me. The drink tasted mostly like milk with only a thin layer strawberry, couldn't taste the distinct smooth matcha flavor I was hoping for. The cups also seemed quite small for $8 I'd guess around 12 oz, which feels smaller than what most shops offer. On the positive side, the service was okay, and the location has plenty of convenient parking. I can't speak for their coffee or other menu items, so those may be worth trying. After having lunch nearby at Olive Tree by Chef Yousef, I was in need of a nice hot cup of coffee. Lunar is located in a shopping center, with plenty of parking. We were greeted within seconds of entering. The service was good. I ordered a Pandan Latte, hot. My daughter ordered an Iced Ube Matcha Latte and a in house made brown butter Miso cookie, warmed. I made two mistakes while I was at this super chill spot in my old stomping grounds of Temple Terrace: 1) I didn't check the seasonal offerings before I ordered (and the menu was right there!) and 2) I took my chai tea latte to go. I should have stayed... and soaked up the zen vibes. But I had errands to run, for my third and final Christmas party (I know, in mid January) (!), so I dashed. But this just means I have to go back. Lunar Coffee is in the end unit of a two story building, with a big gorgeous tree out front. It's shady and peaceful- you forget busy 56th Street is right out there. There's a private parking lot with lots of spaces. It's a little tight-and there are lots of businesses that share that lot. Don't let it scare you off. It's worth it. The shop is so clean-with lots of table seating and some high counter seating at the front. There was soothing music on when I was there, on a cool Thursday morning. There were lots of customers but it didn't seem frantic or hectic. It's like everyone just leaves their stress at the door. You feel it sort of roll right off you. I had the most pleasant gal take my order. She was very sweet. I should have asked her more questions about the treats I saw in the glass case and about the menu. I should have taken more time. Finally! A cozy cafe with an ambience like no other place in Tampa! I was so excited to try out their coffee. They have unique flavors and blends that are absolutely delicious. The cafe itself was easy to find. Parking lot is large and easy to find. As soon as I walked in, you can sense a feeling of calmness and peace. They played classical piano instrumentals and it honestly gave me the best experience. One of the best strawberry matcha lattes I've ever had. Thank you to Tiktok for this gem. I was in Tampa and needed my matcha fix, and read the Yelp reviews in addition to the Tiktok comments - which I knew I needed to stop into Lunar Coffee. It's located in a plaza but you do have to look for it because I drove past it when trying to locate it on my GPS. This shop is quaint and cozy, but for a Saturday afternoon it was pretty busy. The staff was friendly and helpful. I wanted to order the ube cloud matcha latte, however when I watched the video reviews on Tiktok; everyone raved about their strawberry matcha latte. I ordered the latte with oat milk and it came out to $7.75 with tax. I loved that you can watch them whisk the matcha, which they use organic ceremonial grade as well. I was so excited to try it once I saw the presentation of the drink. It was so pretty! The first sip had me in a chokehold. It was perfectly sweetened and the freshness of the strawberry puree was amazing. The puree is also house made - not the fake stuff! This was refreshing pick me up for a warm September day. Got one of their specials, the Pandan Coconut Latte and was honestly disappointed. I had heard such rave reviews about this place previously, but the latte I got barely tasted like pandan or coconut. Their matcha is very traditional and you definitely need to ask for sweetener if you want it. I prefer the ube drinks from Sorbo because they are sweeter. I truly enjoyed the sweet corn latte, which was something I'd never tried previously. The interior is modern yet inviting with tables of various sizes to set up shop for work, or just hangout. So good that it's always packed here. I cry just because I really like studying here, and I wish there were more seats. The vibes are great, the drinks are great, the decor is peaceful, and the music is not too loud, which is great for getting some work done. I guess a lot of people agree with me because the cafe is always full of patrons. Come early if you want a seat! I recommend the pumpkin chai (which is seasonal) or the matcha strawberry latte. The service here is excellent! They bring your drinks to you. I love their seasonal drinks like the Korean corn latte. I tried the Hochija iced latte this time and it was perfectly sweetened with simple syrup. My friend had the Vietnamese coffee, which was very strong but not as creamy as a true cafe sua da would be. The coffee itself had great flavor. I also had the miso brown butter cookie, omg it was delicious!!! There is ample seating here with outlets and the place is super clean. I love it! I pretty much felt that right away when we walked into this modern & chill atmosphere. The menus are on full display at the ordering counter. There is a seasonal menu as well. There are pastries and other treats in full view as you're deciding on what type of coffee or tea brew to order. The Black Sesame Rice Krispies were too tempting to pass up. They were sitting there on the counter begging me to buy them. What else was I supposed to do? You place your order at the counter, and they bring it out to your table when it's ready. Our barista was wonderful. She had quite a few people there, but seemed to handle the flow very well. There were a few students or remote workers using their Wi-Fi during the morning hours. I'm not sure if it's this quiet later in the day. It was very relaxing, as well as the soft music. The Black Sesame Latte was amazing! I love that they use unique house-made syrups in their signature drinks. They have other Asian inspired flavors, but I'd never had black sesame with espresso. It really does go well together. There was even some sweet black sesame grinds at the bottom of the cup. It's definitely a good choice for lovers of espresso based drinks. Their coffee beans come from a Brooklyn based coffee roaster named Parlor Coffee. I could taste the quality of the coffee in this cup. The sesame didn't overpower it. My friend let me sample her Korean Sweet Corn Latte. This one was iced and had a smooth cold brew feel to it. I think it was the sweet vanilla corn foam or the condensed milk that made it so creamy. It was very good. Perfect for those who like sweeter drinks. It even had a little corn nut topping. I had the Black Sesame Rice Krispie treat the following day with coffee. It felt like the same great experience all over again. I'm now loving black sesame in baked goods. If you love sesame candies (like me), then you'll love this. Honestly, I can't wait to go back to try other signature and seasonal flavors. There's a rose matcha tea that I'd love to try. I also meant to get the ube mochi brownie, but that didn't happen. Nothing better than checking out a new to me coffee shop with a wonderful friend. This is the coffee shop we picked to go to. I love the Asian influence options here. I always want to find the most unique flavor offerings, & options you can't find just anywhere. This is that place. I had a Korean Sweet Corn Latte and my friend had a Black Sesame Latte. The barista assisting us was very friendly and helpful. I asked about other drinks like the pandan coconut, and ube coconut drink. This one was perfect for me. This location is very quiet. I have a quiet voice as it is(that's what people say) and I felt like I was so loud here. I didn't like that aspect. I felt like I had to whisper and I hadn't seen my friend in forever. But I do love the vibe here and it's nice and chill and there's some people on their laptops and people have their drinks and snacks. It was my first time coming to Lunar Coffee, and I am for sure coming back when I visit Tampa again. The cafe is Asian owned and woman owned, so it was definitely awesome to go support! I came here because I was working remote that day, and the ambience was really nice and relaxing. One of the best things about the shop is that they really curate their menu. They have a lot of international beans and coffee from Honduras to Kenya. They also have really nice desserts. I got the Ube Brownie, and I loved it (especially since I'm picky with my ube). I also think that the prices were reasonable for very high quality drinks. Also, the service is really great! Shoutout to Vivian, who was our cashier. Oh my God, I wanted to try a new coffee spot and I did a little Google researching and came across the spot. It's in a little funky area. The shopping center has a lot of of Middle Eastern options which is kind of cool. The coffee shop is in the corner. Parking was really hard. It was super full and I went on a weekday. Once I got into the coffee shop. There was literally one seat left just for me at the bar top. It seems that everybody comes here to work, which is super cool and it's a great community if you need to get stuff done. But people were literally waiting outside for 20 minutes before somebody left so they could come sit down. I tried their cappuccino and asked him to put condensed milk in there to make a Spanish latte and it was phenomenal! I will literally be back next week to have some coffee and work from my computer a little bit, hopefully they won't be as busy. The people who work there are super kind and super nice anything you ask for they will bring it over to you with a smile. Try their chocolate chip cookies warmed up they are great! I have been on a matcha kick lately and had to try Lunar Coffee from all the great things I've been hearing about it lately. As a matcha AND ube lover, it only made sense to get the drink that combines the two. I can't begin to explain how good this was! Lunar Coffee is a tiny but cozy spot. TLDR: The staff here is exceptionally cold and callous, but the coffee is pretty good with creative and fun options that you'd find in Tokyo or Seoul. The inside is cute, but very small and tight, and people can hear each other talk from the front to the back. Service: I've had at least 10 coffees from this spot in the last month, and the staff here is so extremely unfriendly - I left crying this last time. I came by today for a to-go latte after my dad's funeral with my dad's small papillon, and they said dogs were not allowed in an extremely rude, cold, and callous way. I didn't notice a "no dogs" sign outside (which is my bad, but I'm really overwhelmed from everything going on), but when I went back outside, I saw they have a poorly drawn black and white figure of what appears to be a dog with a line across it (you can see it in the photo I posted). They should put up a clear sign so people don't make the same mistake as me. If I had known, I wouldn't have come, but the point is that she didn't have to be SO rude and mean, especially after she knew what a difficult time this was for me. After she said that, I had quickly stated I only had the dog because my dad just died and I'm watching his dog now so she understood the context - and she couldn't have cared less or been meaner - she didn't even look and me, said nothing, and looked like she rolled her eyes. It was hot outside so I couldn't have left the dog in the car, my dads house is being fixed/cleaned up right now so I can't leave him at home, and it was also for a to-go drink. I've been coming here almost daily (without the dog) for the past couple of weeks, and I even started convincing family that lives nearby to come here too. I had even told family that getting coffee daily here had been the highlight of my day since my dad passed. However, I'm totally done coming here because I'm not supporting such mean people. Coffee: Coffee is good, but not extraordinary. I really like the fact that they have some creative drinks and fun syrup options similar to what you'd find in Tokyo or Seoul. Location: I like this plaza as a location and the decor of their place - it looks like coffee shops in Tokyo or Seoul with the natural wood furniture and flooring.
