Mother's Day dessert spot to try - had been hearing and seeing reviews of Bekdash and decided to give it a try. I LOVE Qamaria and Roasted and wasn't sure how it compared to those who both offer delicious coffee and treats in a chill atmosphere. First off, it was decorated beautifully- the outdoor space looks like it would be fantastic to be at when the weather isn't blistering hot (like today) - our group all got different drinks to try ranging from iced americanos, to white mocha to Mint smoothies. We got a treat sampler to take home (rather sent home with son for him and roommates to share) and then got a baklava with Arabian ice cream which looked like it would be really rich and sweet but it turned out to just be simply delicious! We will probably go back or at least I will with friends to share this interesting ice cream that I actually really enjoyed! read more

The pistachio gelato is outstanding. Fan favorites at our table were the knafeh. The warm melted cheese with lightly sweet syrup made it a great balance and a really enjoyable dessert. Wow!!! The hype is real!!! I saw a video on Instagram and said I have to taste for myself. The whole environment is beautiful. The music exposes you to a different culture as does the aesthetics. What an experience! This place is lavish from the decor to the desserts, everything just feels like a luxury and I'm here for it! Of course I had to get the Dubai Chocolate Baklava Arabian Ice Cream Sandwich which is just as good as it sounds. Watching them stretch the ice cream was almost as good as eating it! We tried a couple of their pastries as well but the best thing here (even better than the baklava ice cream sandwich if you can believe it) is the kunafa - you absolutely must order it, trust me. My only recommendation would be to make the signage clearer or have some menus available to make ordering easier. It's a bit confusing when you walk in since it's one long L shaped counter but you order different things at different spots and then pay at the end. Even though each counter has an overhead sign, it's not clear what you can order or what the prices are. I was so excited to try this place. It is beautiful inside and outside. They offer a wide variety of desserts. I got the mastic ice cream, which was delicious. The pastries were also delicious including the kunafa. The Dubai chocolate was good, but a little too sweet for me. They offer samples so you can try before you order. I love trying food from different cultures, so I thought I'd give this place a try. Firstly, the kunafa blew me away and was the perfect mix between sweet and salty! Now, first off, I didn't get the ice cream--I came instead for the baklava. And to be fair, I believe Bekdash needs to be properly known for its baklava and other sweets just as much as its ice cream. There is a *huge* selection of baklava here, plus chocolates, and other treats. And you can get a small box of baklava, a bit larger a one, or a downright massive one bigger than a pizza box. (And good thing my friend Davis was not along or we'd likely have gotten that and then eaten half of it on the ride home.) The baklava is very high-quality, very fresh, too: it's a tall order to have impressive baklava in this neighborhood because there's at least one bakery dedicated to actually making the stuff (and shipping it all over) just down the street. I don't know who makes the baklava for sale here, but it's mighty good. The ambience is bright, clean, and welcoming. This place has been on my list for a while now and i have finally gotten around to try it out! Inside is very specious and design very nice. They have a cute Aladdin and Jasmine life size poster when you first walk in. You can also see their famous ice cream to the right also. I came in wanting the kunafa. I actually came back two days in a row because i didn't realize i got the soft kunafa instead of the crispy. Which was fine with me because they were really good. Customer service was really good too. While waiting, they let me try one of their pastries. It was really good! My second day i came back, they made fresh crispy kunafa so i wouldn't get a small "older" piece. Which i thought was nice and thoughtful. It didn't take long neither. We stopped by one night after dinner to try this unique dessert. When we walked in they just started a performance as they were stretching and mixing the ice cream. The whole place, inside and out gathered around to watch. I did not realize at first they were making the ice cream while doing that. It was super fun and entertaining. After that we got in line and sampled. We got some of the original and one of the chocolate Arabian ice cream. It is stretchy and soft and not too sweet. It has a pleasant taster with booth sweet and savory notes. It gets rolled in pistachio. It was very unique. We enjoyed pulling our ice cream like string cheese. Inside is huge. Beautiful place but pricey. No mention that Almond Milk in my Latte was 1.50 extra. Latte was priced 6.95 on the menu and rang up at 7.25. It was good but the pistachio in it was thick and too sweet. I just held the straw up from the sweet bottom To drink the decaf coffee and milk that sat higher. The baklava mix was pretty tasty but at $24.99 pound, this little dish of 3 was 5.75. Not to mention that the interior decor was 10/10 the place is just really spacious and elegant. They had lots of other desserts but I really only came in for the ice cream and they have a lot of options! I tried this ice cream that if I'm not mistaken they said used this tree sap? Walked in close to closing on Wednesday night before 12am. There were probably about 20 customers sitting inside and out. I was served promptly with a sample of their Arabic icecream without even asking with a sprinkling of pistachio. I was sold! Mohammed was very pleasant and took time to explain what they were giving me as it was clearly my first time. The icecream is not too sweet and paired nicely with the baclava. Bekdash is one of my favorite places to go for icecream. The icecream is stretchy and creamy, and the quality is constant across their flavors. My favorite is the snickers icecream, but I've also tried the baklava which was fantastic. The taste of the pistachio was very fresh, and I enjoyed my visit. Bekdash is a newer cafe/pastry/ice cream shop in Temple Terrace. I saw ads for it a while back and a dear friend of mine suggested we have a girls outing since they are 1) really good and 2) have some harder to find items. We went on a weekend night and it was slammed. The parking lot was overflowing to the unpaved area and it was absolute insanity inside. There's an ice cream station (scoopable flavors and also the stretchy middle eastern variety), a baklava station, kunafa station, a coffee corner, and a cold case for the dairy-based and pudding type treats. There's a QR code for the full menu that lets you see things like ice cream sandwiches made using baklava, but I was so overstimulated I couldn't put any focus on that the first time. We ended up getting an assortment of baklava, a kunafa, one of the creamy cheese filled Syrian pastries from the cold case (on my friend's suggestion since she hasn't been able to find this specific thing since she spent time there), and an ice cream. Everything was exceptionally good. Kunafa was on point, the cheese thing was great, and I am glad I only got a small box of baklava or I would eat my weight in it. The prices were very reasonable. The service was great - the ice cream station offered samples, the lady at the baklava case offered a sample (insisted, didn't even give me a chance to say no), checking out was super easy... I went back a couple months later with a friend on a weekday afternoon and it was super quiet in comparison. But the service and quality were still excellent. The coffee was great too! read more

As for the ice cream , it was really cool seeing it stretch kind of like melted cheese. The secret is the mastic gum they add to give the ice cream elastic properties. My family spent over $50 dollars on some ice cream and desserts. I asked for some water and was told I had to buy it. They would not just give me and my kids a cup of water which the salty desserts definitely needed. I though that was very rude. We got a baklava cheesecake and was told it would be delicious and we would love it. It was ten dollars. My husband and I each took one bite and threw it away it tasted like it was sitting there for a long time and had gone bad. My kids got ice cream and they said it was good. It's located in the same plaza Presotea Boba and Lunar Coffee which is where we went first. This was definitely a great find. Their stations consist of Arabic ice cream, gelato and ice cream, coffees, TV screens with the different ways kunafa is made, as well as the culture. I saw more desserts like tiramisu as well as other desserts that looked like Turkish Delights. I tried the ice cream and gelato first. I chose the mango which also had a flavor of passion fruit. It was so nice and smooth and tropical and light. I was set. My friend got the Kinder and Lotus(Biscoff). I asked the girl working about Kunafa. I kept seeing it on Instagram and had to try it. I didn't know they have a crunchy version and soft version. She suggested the crunchy version. She made this for us and we shared it. It was rich, crunchy, sweet, & and definitely something I haven't had before. The crunchy part is similar to a texture of shredded wheat in a good way I think. It tasted like honey which I read was simple syrup. The cheese, syrup, and crunchy were highly addicting. The kunafa is a must try and I must bring my husband next time for it. We went on a Saturday night, and they were slammed!! Be prepared to wait in line. They have Arabic ice cream, gelato, baklava, coffee, other desserts, and more! It's a great selection. Bekdash was our next stop after a very satisfying lunch. In keeping with the Middle Eastern/Mediterranean theme we ventured into the very large dessert building. Situated on N. 56th St. just south of E. Fowler. The place is huge, with seating inside and out. Pastries, Ice Cream and Gelato are served. A clean, well lit and spacious environment. The pretty young lady behind the counter was very patient explaining the many choices while handing out small samples. To take home we chose a nice assortment of sweet delights which mostly come in bite size shapes. A piece of heaven called kunafa (knafeh), a Middle Eastern dessert made of crispy pastry layers, cheese and sweet syrup. It was my favorite. Then we got some pistachio ice cream with pistachio sprinkles to enjoy on site. It's a nice experience for adults but kids would love it, after all, there's ice cream.
