I appreciate the local mom and pop places. And, I know rent is probably high?? . But, man oh man, is it expensive for what you get. Went for dinner (not sure about lunch, may be more reasonable). Ordered the bento box braised beef. Comes in heavy ceramic glorified lunch tray. 4 sections. One had a thin consume soup (think miso soup kind of). One had a rice puck (think hockey puck), the other had ratatouille (chopped eggplant, squash, zucchini, tomatoes (decent portion), there was also a literal tablespoon size section of pickled veggies (carrots, celery, cucumber). Lastly there was the beef. VERY tasty, but olny somewhere between MAYBE 3 to 4 oz tops. Price tag $40!!! Soup and rice lietrally cost pennies to make, veggies, and about 3.5 oz of beef. My date had the salmon which cam same way except instead of the veggies it had string coleslaw. Salmon size about 3oz, maybe 3.5 (seriously). Price $38. OUTRAGEOUS. I won't be going back due to the sticker shock. If I do, I'll try lunch, they probably have some specials. read more

At first, I was a bit surprised to find the restaurant closed at 4 PM, but I later realized they close between lunch and dinner service--a good note for next time. Upon entering, I was immediately impressed by their beautiful herb garden. They have an abundance of rosemary, more than enough to last me a year! I ordered the Beef Pho and was very satisfied. While I personally would have preferred a bit more seasoning, the pho was still delicious. The menu mentions the use of grass-fed beef, and I could definitely taste the difference compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. My fiancée ordered the pork noodle salad, and it was incredibly fresh. It seems the herb garden is really paying off in terms of flavor. I've been a huge fan of BT Nguyen ever since I discovered her in Hyde Park Village many moons ago . She ventured on and our community has continued to be deliciously blessed as she opened up three more establishments in the South Tampa area. Bistro BT's interior is designed with minimalism and has a Zen like feeling. It's small yet comfortable. Service is delivered in a simple efficient manner. She serves up French Vietnamese fare with the freshest organic ingredients. Her flavors pop . One can tell that great care has been put in to all that's done in the kitchen. Today , I ordered the Garden Veggie Salad which is loaded with chopped kale, red and green cabbage, radicchio, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, roasted sun flower seeds, dried cranberries, and BT's special poppy seed and sesame vinaigrette. It's a fave of mine. I ordered my daughter the chicken bahn mi, to-go. Unfortunately , I got home and after tasting the sandwich she did not care for it. She normally enjoys a bahn mi. I tried it and we both found it tasteless. I could not pick up on any flavors. It was not eaten. Thank goodness I had leftovers from my lunch. Delicious and fresh Vietnamese food located in south Tampa. The restaurant is surrounded by fresh herbs outside and has a nice earthy intimate vibe inside. I am in love with every item I've ever tried on the menu, but my favorites are the fresh rolls with the shrimp, the bun bowl which is a noodle and lettuce salad, and the pho. The outside of the building is lined with fresh herbs and vegetables that are grown then used in the kitchen, and the inside is lined with jarred spices and herbs. What truly makes the experience is the owner, BT. I was first introduced to Bistro BT by a friend because I was feeling under the weather. I came here and enjoyed a cup of hot tea and a steaming bowl of chicken pho with organic chicken broth and plenty of vitamin-filled greens. The part of this experience that sticks with me is that I really liked the chopsticks I was given and ask the server if he knew where they were from so that I could purchase a pair. That is when the owner, BT, overheard me and went to the kitchen to grab me a clean pair of chopsticks which she gifted me. She then stayed at our table to ask about our dining experience. BT is a wonder person with exceptional culinary skills, and I'm the brief moment I shared with her it became evident that the restaurant is a reflection of her. Over the years the quality of food and service have remained the same in the best way possible. Bistro BT is such a great spot. Prices are higher than some other Vietnamese restaurants but totally worth it. All of their ingredients are super fresh and all of the dishes are a perfect flavor explosion. I love the Chicken Chili Salad, it is a huge portion and my favorite thing on the menu. Spring rolls and Rice Vermicelli Bun Salad Bowl are both great shareable choices. We have also enjoyed the Pho and Bento boxes. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Just discovered Bistro BT even though I've lived near it for a while now and I'm so glad I found it! While their items are on the pricier side, they seem well worth it. I got the pork and pate Banh Mi and it was the best Banh Mi I've ever had. The inside is quaint and quiet and I loved the atmosphere. I looked up BT after and found out there was a To Go version (that I had already been too without realizing it was part of BT) and Restaurant BT, which I'm now so excited to try out! Happened upon this place en route to an appt. so glad we did! We ended up going here for date night. It's very quaint and cozy inside! Everything we got was very tasty. I ordered a pork banh mi to take out. I didn't expect it to be more than triple the price for a banh mi compared to an authentic Vietnamese joint, but I didn't falter at the register because I still wanted a banh mi. Bistro BT's banh mi does not travel well. When I opened my box at home, all of the pickled vegetables fell out of the bun. They did pack an extra little container of other pickled vegetables on the side too. I started to take some bites. This banh mi is super juicy (could be a good thing or a bad thing). Oil dribbled down my chin. The experience wasn't pretty. Good thing I was eating this alone! Overall the taste was alright, just not worth the price point. read more

I really enjoyed restaurant BT the times I've been there, but bistro BT was a huge disappointment. Went with a group of people - my friend and I who both ordered the monk's curry noodles and veggies for dinner felt nauseous after eating it. I took back my leftovers and when I took a few bites of it a few hours later, I immediately got a headache so it must've been the food that made us feel sick. I wanted to leave a review as I saw another reviewer recently got food poisoning from this place and was dismissed for it, and I think it's important people are aware that food safety might be an issue here. Service was not great either - servers were not friendly and there was some passive aggressiveness? It was subtle but I have not experienced this before. Bistro BT is my favorite spot in the area for authentic Vietnamese pho. My husband and I found this gem thanks to our fellow Yelpers and lucky for us, its close to home. Everything we've ordered has been made fresh and you can taste it. The beef tenderloin pho is some of the best pho I've had in years, and the chicken fresh rolls are also a must try. I can definitely recommend this restaurant. It's a small restaurant in South Tampa that serves primarily Vietnamese food but other American foods as well. BEWARE!! My friend got FOOD POISONING here. Shortly after eating here my friend had stomach cramps, sweats and repeated and violently throwing up. I immediately called the restaurant and spoke to the owner to let her know what happened so no others customers would suffer the same. To my shock she was not even interested to hear, she said it could not happen at her place and did not even as much ask how my friend was doing, but instead took a defensive and combative approach. She told me, and I quote " Have a nice life" and hung up the phone on me. So Nasty Food, Nasty Owner. Not to mention our bill was over $150.00 for soup, salad and tea? If you have never had French Vietnamese I know it sounds interesting but it's such an amazing favor journey it's worth the trip. This is another restaurant by the owners of Restaurant BT and it's just as good. Menu is different so don't expect the same items, I always go for the Bun Bowl and ginger prawns. Such amazing flavors and very delightful on a warm day since it's a cold bowl. The duck appetizer is small but fantastic. And you can't come here without getting the addictive Jasmine Tea. I absolutely love restaurant BT and BT to go. Of the 3 BT restaurants, id say this one is the worst. All the BT restaurants are higher in price but I'd say most of the time are worth it. The service isn't bad and the ambiance is a sense of clean minimalism. It's cool! There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We went for lunch and orders the bahn mi. It was good but nothing amazing like you'd find at Restaurant BT. I found it hilarious that they charged me for my hot sauce as well. Overall, it was fine to check out but I just wasn't wowed by the place and won't be going back. This restaurant is a slightly more casual and moderately priced version of Restaurant BT. My husband and I have grabbed lunch here twice. The pho is a little more expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants we have dined at, but worth it since all of the ingredients are super fresh and of high quality. My only complaint was when we were charged extra for asking for more sriracha sauce. A bottle of sriracha costs less than $3... do you really need to charge me more for a condiment?
