Ohhhhhhhh my goodness..... met up with friends before a show right next door and had a protein bowl and flan. The protein bowl was meat and rice and beans and platanos... it was ok, I would order it again if I was really hungry, and more likely would try something else. BUT Can I just say the star of the show is.........(DRUMROLL PLEASE)....... THE FLAN! TOTALLY FLANTASTIC! It is absolutely, hands-down, THE BEST flan I have ever had. I first came when they had just opened. They hadn't expanded yet. It was a pleasant surprise to see how their space & menu has grown. The manager, Jada, was so friendly and accommodating. We decided to try the Timba. I really loved the guava dip. The ham croquettes were delicious. But I really liked the flavor of their chicken empanadas. Of course you can't leave without trying a flan. We had the Coquito. They're also offering tres leches and key lime pie now too. Scrumptious! A few friends and I went to an event across the street from Armature Works and figured we'd get food while we were in the area. I had the Arroz Frito chicken bowl which was okay. I felt it needed a sauce or more seasoning. One of my friends ordered the Protein bowl with shrimp since he doesn't eat meat. Unfortunately, they got his order wrong and added chicken to his bowl too. He ended up picking out all of the chicken pieces and giving it to me. A taste of home! I was living in Austin TX for the last six years and this was exactly the taste that I missed. This protein bowl was a little of everything you want to have with Florida Latin culture. It reminds me of Miami and Cuban food and everything was seasoned to perfection. The Sangria was sweet and citrusy. My only complaint is I should have gotten an extra to take home because I live 20 miles away. I had been wanting to check out the Flan Factory for quite some time. I liked that they offered quick, friendly and fast counter service. The restaurant is clean, has a nice vibe and has a good amount of seating. Free parking across the street and in the parking lot. The Cuban was packed full of roasted pork, an easily shareable sandwich. So you have to give credit to them for giving you plenty of value for your money. I thought it was good, but nothing amazing, especially when you've had a Cuban from the Floridian. The side of beans and rice were also just fine, nothing amazing. Despite the name, they offer a variety of food. We stopped by for flan but they were so many other tempting options we had to rethink our dinner plans. We ended up ordering Cuban sandwiches, rice & beans, arroz frito (Cuban fried rice), deviled crab, and of course flan - original and guava. So this is my second visit to this location and I've been to their other location once. The flan is excellent. This time my wife had a protein bowl, which was essentially Cuban Moho pork over rice with platinous, that was also very good. She took half of it home but it didn't reheat that well. I tried a Cuban for the first time. Honestly, it's not great. I only ate about half of it. I get this is a locally owned success story but my experience is that it repackages stuff you can get at other local Cuban spots and upcharges it for rich channelside residents. And they are all fine waiting for it too. We were told 25 mins from order to getting our food and they were right. They have individual sizes in some unique flavors. If you want to bring something to a dinner party that will impress everyone...bring a FLAN! Flan Factory also offers great breakfast and lunch options. This morning we got breakfast. I had the Ybowl w chorizo. It was delicious. Perfect avocado, crispy home fries fries, eggs cooked perfectly and tasty gravy. Both my husband and our friend got the Classico Breakfast. They loved it. We got a Ybowl and Timba to go. I forgot to take pics of our food, but snapped a few of the takeout order. Their Cuban and Breakfast Cuban are also delicious. We also enjoyed the maduros and the beef empanadas. I was disappointed no spicy sauce came with the empanadas though. Maybe they have something and you have to specifically request it. We did not enjoy the chicken empanadas (dry and not flavorful), the rice and beans (also dry and lacked flavor). The tostones and maduros were ok but not amazing.
