This truck pulled by an apartment complex near me and I LOVE cajun food so I got a haul of goodies. I got red beans & rice, gumbo, crawfish etoufeé, bread pudding, and king's cake soda. I regret not buying more of the soda lol it was good af. The red beans & rice from a purely objective standpoint was the most well made savoury dish of the three. Super flavourful, I'm just more of a seafood girl but would get this again. Loved the crawfish etoufée, it was FULL of crawfish. The gumbo was a delish flavour bomb. Wish it was a little chunkier (with okra pieces or something) but keep in mind that sauces that use crab/certain fish these goodies dissolve in the sauce, so I knew based on the flavour it was full of goodies. The bread pudding was da bomb dot com, but keep in mind it has raisins if you're not into raisins. I got extra butter rum sauce, which was a good move to make. I was excited to see a cajun food truck in my hood this evening. I found the menu onkine and quickly decided on Crawfish etoufee and strawberry lemon Beignets. Holy smokes, was I in for a treat. The Etoufee was delicious. Lots of seafood and flavor. Then on to the Beignets. I have had some insanely delicious desserts in my day but this was the best sweet treat I have ever had. The beignets were so light and crispy on the outside and doughy goodness on the inside. They were paired with a divine and light as air lemon creme, fresh whipped creme, strawberries and some vanilla ice cream on the side. My love for cajun food is epic! As soon as I hear about a place I go. This one proved to be a challenge just to taste the food. 3 trips in cross town rush hour traffic before I finally scored. $80 later I was beggared, disgusted and mortified. The truck is not reliable to be open during the hours published, the food was a farcical example of what cajun food should be. Canned seafood, burned beans, hair in the etouffee and unauthentic flavors are some of the issues. A cheap cheap version of the real deal, overpriced and huge mounds of rice in the bowl means you get very little real food. The good news is I will never have to brave cross town rush hour traffic for this place again. read more

Alexis is the owner and is very pleasant. She offers cajun cuisines in her cute little food truck thing. Her location changes and I also believe the menu rotates. I suggest getting the crawfish étouffée. It had a subtle spice, but not too spicy though. I did add a bit more cajun seasoning when I got home. If you're not a spicy food enthusiast, like myself, it'd be perfect! My only complaint is the portion (or maybe I was just starving). I'd love to have a bit more, luckily I did order the Deep Fried Bread Pudding to complete my meal. I really enjoyed the Bread Pudding bites. I am usually on edge about bread puddings because textures can vary but this was perfect. I did pick out the raisins, just because I am not a fan of them. I would definitely order again. I would visit again for the beignets and poboys... I did see she had breakfast as well on her instagram business page. My mom tried the Jambalaya... she said it was a bit dry. You can't buy happiness but you can buy gumbo. And that's kind of the same thing. This food truck is packed with a whole lot of flavor. Alexis greeted me as soon as I walked up to the truck. Y'all, she serves king cake-flavored soda! I already knew what I wanted ahead of time but I noticed how patient and accommodating she was to all of her customers. The gumbo was full of seafood and so tasty, that I wanted to chuck my spork and drink the bowl like a kid drinking the last bit of milk from a bowl of cereal. The beignets were so pretty, with their blankets of sugar. I'm glad we were outside to enjoy them so that I can pretend that I was at Cafe Dumonde with the iced coffee that I brought with me. The best Cajun food I have had in the actual whole state of Florida has come from this truck. My husband is from Louisiana and has a love for red beans and rice like no one I have ever met, and he agrees. The beans and rice (no surprise) is our favorite dish to order, and the seafood gumbo is a close second. It's the only seafood gumbo I have personally had with that much crab in it! I don't know if I would ever find fault with a beignet and so this is possibly moot buuuuuut the beignets are so good. Sooooo soooo good. And if you're lucky you will go when they have a special seasonal flavor too. And the cherry on top? The mom-and-daughter owners actually like people and service and the whole shebang. I was born and raised near the bayou so I was brought up eating some of the best Cajun food you've ever tasted. Being in Tampa Bay, that is one of the things I have missed until I encountered this food truck. I had the privilege of inviting Baton Roux to my neighborhood and the experience did not disappoint. I'll start with the Cajun red beans and rice. There are layers of flavors that very well balanced and only achieved with thoughtful slow cooking and love. The red beans are Cajun which means spicy, but not so spicy that you cannot taste and enjoy your food. Let's talk about the greatness of the desserts! I'll start with the beignets (not pictured because I devoured them as soon as I got them in my hands). She could teach a masterclass of how to make beignets. They are pillowy soft in the middle with perfect texture and melts in your mouth! The bread pudding intrigued me because I am typically not a fan of raisins, but I ate this in its ENTIRETY. Frying the bread pudding gave it a nice texture and the ability to eat with your hands, but the rum sauce makes it NEXT LEVEL. Baton Roux is on my list of flavor cravings! As a Baton Rouge native, one of the toughest things about moving away has been giving up my hometown cuisine. In Tampa, it's hard to find the ingredients to cook my favorites and none of the local establishments come close to replicating my hometown's flavors. Ordered the Jambalaya and it had great flavor. The bits of chicken inside were well seasoned, tender, and obviously not processed/spongey "rib meat" chicken. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because I also ordered the Cajun beans & rice...and somehow received no sausage inside (assumed maybe it wasn't stirred and I only got beans-it happens)...ALSO the rice portion was too large compared to the stewed beans. All in all I would definitely have the Jambalaya again...ladies were nice so an easy solution to the rice & beans would be to simply ask to make sure the served portion has sausage as well as beans AND ask for less rice or more stewed beans, They seem they would be happy to oblige. Good. LORD. The jambalaya was sooooo good. The perfect seasoned rice and not too heavy. Everything was balanced perfectly. The crawfish etouffee was in a perfect seasoned roux and smelled like seafood on the bayou and not from a food truck. BUT THE BEIGNETS. Perfect fried powdered pieces of heaven. Warm, soft, and sweet. The food truck visited my apartment complex last night so we decided to patronize. My husband and I had the crawfish etoufee which another reviewer recommended. The dish was delicious, I agree that more heat would have made it more popping but it was good. When we got back to the apartment we just added some Louisiana hot sauce. He was impressed by the amount of crayfish in the dish we shared and when it was gone we were both looking for more! We also tried the bread pudding, which I am always on the hunt for. The bread pudding was yummy; it had a varied texture which I love. Some crust on it, deep brown color, some softer bread pieces inside, the raisins were nice and chewy. And the rum sauce was yum. I'm a saucy person so I wish I had asked for a wee bit more on the side and I was sad we didn't have ice cream at home because that would have set it off. My husband doesn't love bread pudding like I do but he kept coming back for more. I don't eat pork so there aren't many more menu options for me but I'll always stop for some bread pudding.
