We arrived t 1:p.m. on Sunday afternoon, knowing that they closed at 2:p.m.I approached the gentleman at the cash register and asked if we could stay for lunch or should we come back. He said we could stay and told us we were his last guests in, he told us to sit in the last booth in the corner as it was the only vacant table. The restaurant was packed and very busy. My granddaughter, ordered and the food wa delicious. I had a "veggie crepe, French onion soup and water with a slice of lemon. We ate and left about 2:05p.m. and were the last customers to leave. Stopped in with two friends for breakfast. I've never been there before. It was so good and the portions were huge. I ended up eating my omelette over three day. Period. Period. I love French food. I really really wanted to like this place. The waitress was very nice. I ordered a cup of French onion soup. It wasn't very strong in onion flavor it tastes a little bit like a mushroom soup. I ordered the cheddar omelette with bacon and onions. The bacon was not cooked and the onions were hardly cooked either. The owner tried to tell me that I needed to ask for the bacon extra crispy before they cooked it. That's ridiculous. Raw bacon is still raw bacon. I think I'll pass on the salmonella today. They removed it off my bill so I paid $10 for a cup of soup and an iced tea And then asked him if he could break a $10 so I could tip the kind waitress in cash. He gave me two fives back. I would come back just for the unbelievable coffee that I was served, I'm not talking about even one of their specialty coffee either, I'm talking about their normal brew, incredible, I don't normally drink 4 cups of coffee in the matter of an hour and a half in the am, but I did on 17 September when I came back down to Clearwater... The crêpe that I ordered for breakfast was simply delicious, #1 Fla. cousin, said her croissant breakfast sandwich was really delicious ... It's hard to choose from their dessert case, but we chose, and split a delicious pastry called a Mont Blanc (pastry, cream, and raspberries) heaven on a plate... After a 4 star review by me two years ago, I decided to visit again. Most of my original review stands but some things got a bit worse. Service was hectic since there was only one server on a Sunday morning. My chocolate brioche was tough on the outside and soggy in the middle. I decided to try the French toast--a mistake. It was also soggy in the middle and inedible. I asked the server for anything else to replace it and received a croissant which was good. The accompanying fruit is still a pile of cheap melon and a bit of pineapple. The owner worked the register when I paid and he handed me a punch card that would give me a $10 credit after 10 visits. The man behind the name is ever-present, circulating like the maître d' of your dreams -- introducing himself to tables, checking in with staff, orchestrating the experience like he's hosting you in his own living room. This place is a little out dated but the newer owner is working on that. I believe it's family owned. Immigrants from France and oh so friendly. Breakfast was great and they also have a bakery!! They brought a little of their culture to breakfast (salad homemade French fries) which we did enjoy. Owner waited on us and took good care of us. Perfect example of someone coming to our country and wanting the American dream. He has even taken the time to learn our language. I'm sorry to write this because as a small business owner I understand this will have some sort of negative impact on their business. However, I feel like I owe a warning to yelpers, just as I would appreciate one. This was probably the worst breakfast experience food wise my family has ever had. The service was great, the place is nice. The food was a joke. My wife loves eggs benedict, gets them all the time. Muffin, poached egg, ham, Hollandaise sauce, pretty standard right? Her order was a piece of hard bread, an overcooked FRIED egg and what appeared to be melted american cheese at first glance but turned out to be some kind of sauce. 2 bites, plate pushed away. I got a Croque Monsieur that was 2 pieces of bread with a little ham and drenched in sauce. I ate half because I was starving. It was bland and soggy. My two adult daughters both took a bite of their meals and pushed them away. Coffee was really good, fries were beautifully presented and decent, salad was pretty good. Maybe we caught them on a bad day (Sat at 11:00Am) but someone named Dave (with a french accent) was in the kitchen so I don't know. Regardless I will never go back, but the meal (especially the benedicts) will live in my family history forever. read more

Chez David 1469 S Belcher Rd Ste 33764 Clearwater, FL 33764 . They make the best French Cream Donut in the world. It is light and fluffy and filled with a huge portion of vanilla cream. All chefs have their secrets recipe but I think their cream is so good because they use real mascarpone cheese. Light fluffy and amazing. Often, after eating sweets, I feel over full or bloated. These leave you feeling like you ate healthy food, I think that is because of good ingredients and they are not too sweet. . David and his wife are very nice people. Very accommodating. . Now onto the tiramisu. Oh, my God, pure pleasure. Not a large portion but every bite was so amazing. It was smooth and silky, not too sweet, not too much coffee, just perfect. . It is a cute little French café. . And the croissants were the best I have ever had. The chocolate desserts were too sweet for me. But the others were in the category of the best I have ever had. .
