We finally stopped in here a few weeks ago and I'll say I was hesitant at first. The location is a bit odd but the parking lot has seen better days but I'm glad we didn't let that sway us. The place is tiny but cute and packed full of character. You have booths lining the sides with a few tables in the middle and some counter seating. The walls are lined with kitschy type memorabilia and I enjoyed looking around. Great menu options and specials are available - I had a ham & cheese omelette and my boyfriend had the steak skillet. Both were outstanding! They definitely didn't skimp on the fillings for either. I'd say it's the best omelette I've had in my memory and my boyfriend loved the skillet. At one point he asked our waitress if they had tortillas and she brought a few out twice as he made steak breakfast tacos. All in all, we loved the place. Absolutely loved this place!! First time eating here today and had a major DoorDash fiasco (they refused to find a driver to deliver or refund!) so I rushed there in person before they closed! The entire staff was super friendly and extremely understanding! We will definitely be back as our food was delicious even after! Honestly one of the best crepes I've ever had as well! If I could give this place zero stars, I would -- and even that would be too generous after the appalling treatment my mother received. Laurie, who claims to own this establishment, should be ashamed of herself. What started as a *basic* request to remake a cold, rubbery pancake turned into an outright meltdown. Not only was the request met with unhinged, aggressive behavior -- Laurie *threw a dish* in the middle of a packed, tiny restaurant and shouted, "I can do whatever I want!" No, you didn't read that wrong -- she literally threw a dish. The food is passable at best, but the service is beyond unacceptable. Our server, Yuli, was rude, dismissive, and had a nasty, condescending attitude the entire time -- clearly taking cues from her unprofessional boss. She acted as if we were an inconvenience from the moment we sat down, despite the restaurant clearing out soon after. I approached Laurie afterward, hoping for a reasonable conversation. Instead, she doubled down on her behavior, shrugged it off, and implied we were being too sensitive. When I told her that throwing dishes and mistreating paying customers isn't just unprofessional -- it's dangerous -- she smugly told me I didn't need to return. Trust me, that was already decided. In this economy, people are choosing carefully where they spend their money -- and this place isn't worth a single cent. No one deserves to be disrespected, let alone yelled at and endangered in a dining environment. Avoid this place at all costs. First time dining at the Tin Can Cafe in Clearwater and have to say it was a pleasant experience. Restaurant is a seat yourself style which is nice that you can choose between a booth, table or counter seating. Craig was our server and he was excellent in helping us with everything to make our visit great. Food was brought out in good time, looked great and the flavor was amazing as well!! In the downtown Clearwater area for a Dr visit, this place looked interesting, had great ratings and was nearby. Plus our Dr was between breakfast and lunch so a brunch spot was perfect. Found Tin Can easily, parking a bit tight but ok. This a small homey diner and obviously very popular with locals. They were very busy at early lunch but we lucked into the only open table for two. We were brought menus and waters right away. My wife chose the Waffle with strawberries, bananas, whipped cream and chocolate. I decided on the Spanish Omelette with beef, onions, jalapeños and cheese. It was a bit for our food but understanding with the number of diners present. When our food arrived, the plates were huge. Mine came first and my wife wanted to share, so I cut off a section and put on my toast plate for her. It also came with salsa and sour cream, that the waitress forgot. After a couple reminders, I asked another server and he brought salsa, but I never got the sour cream. By now it was cooling off so I ate my 3/4 portion. And my wife shared 1/4 of her amazing Waffle. Both meals were excellent and huge portions. I guess because with locals they do tend to chat with the waitstaff. Not a huge problem but I suggest late breakfast or lunch to avoid the crowds. In town with the gang and we couldn't decide if we wanted lunch or breakfast. Well let's go some there where they serve both. I had a party melt and she had a Cuban sandwich. Both were delicious. I'm not a fan of rye bread but it was a perfect compliment with the patty melt. It was a nice and quaint spot. The service was great and the breakfast options were huge portions and looked delicious. Wow! Delicious breakfast potatoes, and the Eggs Benedict was ON POINT! I ordered it with regular bacon and it was awesome. The coffee was okay. Could use a little more strength, but the service was great so that's a huge bonus. Craig was our server and he was helpful and kind. Tin Can Gets a Gold Medal This small café has been around for a while, and it feels like a friendly and well-oiled machine. My server was efficient and helpful and the kitchen was quick. The café is nicely decorated and comfortable. I got some scrambled eggs which were good. The accompanying ham was thick, properly seared and very tasty. The "Quaker Grits" were, obviously instant. Sorry, But that value for breakfast one expects exceptional food and exceptional value in ingredients which was not the case. We have driven by this place for 20 years and decided to try it. Thanks for showing us that there are better places at better VALUES ABUNDANTLY IN CLEARWATER. I have a soft spot for diners and I have a softer spot for a diner with warm staff and wood paneled walls. So yesterday that softer spot emerged and after my meal, i was pleased! The Tin Can Cafe is a little off the beaten path in Clearwater. Overall The diner itself has about 12-14 tables/booths along with counter service. We started with a single pancake as an app which was a great call as it was nice batter with a great aftertaste of malt. Then I ordered the Sausage Skillet which is so big it can feed two people! What I loved about this was the veggies (green peppers, onions and potatoes) were cut in big pieces not diced. Now they were so soft that you could cut it with your fork. Plus they must've been sautéd because they had a nice buttery flavor to it! Plus there was great amount of sausage in it. They offered toast or English muffin on the side. The service was great and everyone was warm and welcoming. There is a parking lot next store so parking should not be an issue. I'm not sure if it's cash only. I can't wait to go back! read more

Unfortunately we didn't even get to eat here so I can't comment on the food. We got there and it was full but no one waiting for a table or anything. We stood inside for a while and no one even acknowledged us, except one woman who gave us a rude look. Finally after trying to get someone's attention for a while I went up to the counter to ask how long for a table. We just wanted ti be acknowledged for the next available seats or table for 2. The waitress whose attention I finally got when approaching her said "10 min maybe more". Again, they were full but not super busy and there was no reason someone couldn't have acknowledged that we wanted to wait for a table. We felt really uncomfortable and not welcome there at all. If we had we would have happily waited for a table, but decided to leave. It's unfortunate because we wanted to try their breakfast and drove out of the way to eat here. read more

Tin Can Cafe is one of those spots the locals will recommend when you're visiting the area. It's not near the beaches or tourist scene, but it is easily one of the best breakfast spots I've been to recently... and not because it's necessarily "luxurious" or has all the frills of a fancy dining location... because it doesn't. It seats maybe 25-ish people, and is a bit of a hole in the wall, honestly. But you know what? It's legitimately delicious food from a family-run business where the people care about providing their customers with an authentic experience. When trying a new breakfast place, I almost always order an omelette... I feel you can tell a lot about the quality of the food in a place when they can make a delicious omelette. Thankfully, Tin Can Cafe did NOT disappoint with my tomato, mushroom, and feta omelette... including little crispy bits that I just love. With seasoned home fries and some slices of rye bread, I was nice and full by the time my breakfast was complete... and I think my total (with a $5 tip) was just over $16. TL;DR When I was younger, my grandmother would always pick places for breakfast or lunch because "it's a good deal"... but the food was almost always greasy or gross.
