Stopped by Jerome's at the new location on McMullen Booth today around noon. As it was at the previous location, the cafe and bakery is bright, clean and well staffed. In fact, the staff couldn't be nicer, and they were quite patient as I spent some time ogling the bakery case making my decisions. My selections were all sweets today. Blueberry croissant - a first for me and utterly delicious (couldn't wait to get home and had to have a bite in my car!). An almond and chocolate croissant - the gold standards. I topped off my order with the classically French tarte au pomme and a fresh berry tart with cream filling. Just divine, each and every one! Jerome's does not disappoint! read more

To call this French is an insult to France! I was born and raised in France, getting my bakery goods in the mornings from bakery down the street. The ambience was nice and so was service, but that's where the good things end. This was a disaster and shameful that it's called French. Serving croissants and eclairs and putting French names to menu items does not make something French. We ordered a turkey omelette with eggs on top, an eclair, a chocolate croissant, a croissant with ham and cheese and tomato and lettuce, and a cream filled beignet. Let's start with the bakery goods. All bakery goods should be made fresh that same morning. The croissants, and pastries all should be flaky and taste fresh. These were hard as if they were all yesterday's leftovers. The filling on the beignet was obviously a Jell-O pudding mix, and definitely not homemade. The eclair for some reason had some kind of supposed chantilly cream and raspberry instead of the traditional filling, and both of those fillings were also all store-bought. The eclair was also stale and tasted like it had been in the fridge since yesterday. The omelette was an absolute joke. If you look at the picture I posted, my index finger was actually taller than the entire omelette which is supposed to be filled with ham and cheese as you can see from the post photo. The ham and cheese were also packaged meat and cheese as you can tell since they all were sliced exactly in the same way and same size and tasted processed, and the cheese wasn't even melted completely. The omelette was just incredibly dry and bland. The croissant suffered from the same disease. It was hard, not flaky, and tasted stale as if it had been made yesterday, and all of the meat and cheese was obviously packaged meat and cheese which tasted processed. This tastes nothing like anything you would find at any French bakery in France. In France. Everything is made the same day, and the moment it starts going stale and stops being flaky, is thrown away. This is an absolute insult to French bakeries. Even if you compare it to other American bakeries and breakfast places, nothing tasted good and for that price, it should. Definitely avoid this place. I know I will. read more

Phenomenal is an understatement to describe this bakery! I walked in late morning on a Sunday with my toddler and we picked out a ham and béchamel croissant as well as a Nutella cruffin (a croissant-muffin hybrid). Both were an absolute delight! The staff was very friendly, the bakery case was overwhelmingly full with a wide assortment and the price point was fair. Not a ton of seating but there is some inside and out on the patio. I'm obsessed with this bakery! They have just about every single croissant you could think of & more. It took me about 10 minutes just to decide what I wanted. I ended up getting a blueberry one. They heated it up for me as well. For my coffee, I got an iced latte with vanilla. They have tables inside and a couple outside to sit at. They even had small, free samples of an almond croissant. They also have a savory menu for those that want more filling breakfast options. The service was nice and provided to go containers for our treats. Can't wait to come back and try more! read more

I am quite honestly sitting here in utter disappointment..... Jerome is no longer flying and sadly it shows. Flying to France for ingredients apparently with signs all over the door notifying patrons that they are not an authentic French restaurant and don't use French ingredients. I hadn't been to Jerome's since it was flying with Jerome on belcher rd. But I dreamed of it regularly. Today I made a conscious effort to come to the new location not thinking much of the signs. But once I tasted the food and it was just bad I knew it wasn't the same. Even my beloved lemon tart no longer tastes like the one I had in Paris. Even if you take the French expectation out of the experience and I just look for good food, I can't find it. In fact, and this is rare, I couldn't even eat the savory crepe I ordered. $18 for a crepe and pastry all in the garbage. No lunch for me. I cannot express how painful it is for me to write this review. I am saddened by the entire situation. Thank you for the good memories, Jerome. But sadly this is the end of that era. Love the food here. Pastries are always amazing, and somehow we always leave with at least a lemon tart. The brunch items are wonderful as well, I mean how can you go wrong with bechamel and creamy cheese. They have a good amount of latte flavor options too. My only qualm is the restaurant is a bit cramped inside, so maybe better to do take out. Overall delicious though! read more

Cute little French cafe and bakery! There are way too many delicious pastries and baked goods to choose from...we settled on a pumpkin cheese croissant and blueberry croissant and some drip coffee. The croissants were so buttery and flaky! The cream cheese was perfect and not too sweet. Both had just the right amount of blueberry and pumpkin. We were served right away - everyone was super friendly. They even have a couple of tables outside - it was a little chilly today but when it's warmer that would be nice! We celebrated my girlfriend's birthday here Saturday, January 6, 2024. The two young women who helped us order at the counter were friendly and knowledgeable. My girlfriend ordered the buckwheat crepe with cheese and ham, and I got the croissant with egg, ham and Brie. We also got two bakery items to go. Our crepe and croissant were delicious! We helped ourselves to water before and during the meal. Lemon or plain water dispensers were available near us. It's a small place, and somewhat intimate. We enjoyed talking and eating while inside. Jerome's has an outside seating area. When it's warmer, we will definitely eat outside! It's a little pricey, but the food was made for us individually, and all of the ingredients seemed fresh. When we walked in we were immediately greeted, you have to order up front and they bring your food to you. The servers were nice and answered the questions we had politely. The food came out promptly, the breakfast croissant was light and fluffy, very refreshing. This cafe is a true gem!! Fresh, deliciously crafted pastries, sandwiches, crepes, and coffees. The staff were also lovely and welcoming. They were busy, but had lots of seating inside and out. There's free WiFi & water. The bathrooms were clean. We came multiple times while staying nearby & wish it were closer to us! Favorites: the Jerome sandwich (AMAZING). I've been a fan of Jerome's for a long time. Sadly I was a little disappointed in the new cafe because I loved the waitress service and restaurant feel of the old cafe on Belcher. The new Jerome's doesn't really have the same cozy, hole-in-wall vibe. It's more like a to-go place now. It felt somewhat cramped and uncomfortable. Went for lunch with friends. We planned to visit a nearby Thai restaurant that was open on Monday. When we arrived it was closed and web site was closed. So by pure chance we discovered Jerome's. It is a small shop with about 6 small 4-person tables with an eating bar by front window. We were able to grab the only empty table. We perused the menu then proceeded to the counter to order and pay. My wife chose the special Meat Frittata. Our friend and his wife chose the Breakfast Sandwich on Ciabatta bread and the Norwegian Sandwich with smoked salmon on Ciabatta. I decided to try the Mushroom Quiche. We also order drinks and talked while we waited on our food. After awhile, and several customers getting food to go, our food arrived. My wife really enjoyed her Frittata with bacon & ham. My friend also enjoyed his Breakfast sandwich very much, especially the soft bread. His wife however was surprised that her Salmon was smoked, not fried. I guess she thought smoked was too close to raw! So she moved the salmon to second half to eat, and cook, later and had a half egg sandwich. My Quiche was different than any I had ever eaten. Instead of a slice of a Quiche in pie form, the quiche batter was baked on top of a puff pastry. Very different but really delicious. And with so many tempting pastries on display we decided on The Crunch to share. This appeared to be a chocolate coated mousse on a crunchy (wafer?) bottom and it was decadently yummy. We were such a fan of the Flying with Jerome on S. Belcher in Clearwater that we decided to stop in. We were there at lunchtime. The interior is rather tight quarters and there wasn't a seat to be had. We looked around and ogled the beautify pastries in the refrigerated display cases. The prices are a little on the high side but look like they're worth it. As, with Flying with Jerome's, the store/restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. read more

I am glad I do not live super close to Jeromes, or my waistline would be in trouble. I love French pastries... and have not been too impressed by the selections available in the Tampa Bay area! At least, not until today! I went to a Audubon Society Birdwalk at Moccasin Lake Park with my buddy Dave.. and afterwards he suggested Jeromes for a bite to eat. Walked in... and WOW... the pastry display is gorgeous! So many kinds of delicious pastries, and just lovely in execution and appearance! I ordered a Breakfast Sandwich (Croissant) and Mocha to eat there, but got several pastries to go for later. Berry Crumble, a Chocolate Croissant, and an Apricot Cruffin. It was hard to limit myself to that... but I managed. The Pistachio Chocolate Croissant was just tempting me to order it also... but I promised it, next time! The sandwich was delicious, as was the mocha! And I was naughty and ate the Berry Crumble as soon as I got home... and WOW, heavenly! For those in the know, Jerome is very well respected in this area. His original shop, Flying With Jerome, was hidden, local, amazing, beyond delicious and later sold to a French couple. Now, Jerome has a new spot at the border between Clearwater and Safety Harbor! It's in the shops in the south west corner of Enterprise and McMullen Booth. We were thrilled to find out and try it on the first weekend! Spotlessly clean with incredible pastries, soup, sandwiches and savory or sweet crepes, everything is made from scratch! The croissants are the best you can possibly have! This morning, we braved the small crowd to obtain a full assortment of wonderful treats! Then, it was off to a nearby park to relax with a view and enjoy! Butternut squash soup of the day? Creamy, hot and soothing! A savory crepe with perfectly fried egg, bacon, onion, cheese and sauce? Spectacular! A mushroom and cheese homemade croissant sandwich? Flaky and decadent but light! A Tronut!? Clearly inspired by the famous Cronut from French baker Dominique Ansel in NYC back in 2013! I ordered a coffee, a breakfast croissant and a TRONUT to go. I asked for mayonnaise on the breakfast croissant. Instead they served me a package of mayonnaise on the side. Disappointed in that plastic pollution option although the to go order was in paper containers albeit in a plastic bag . However the sandwich was delicious. Jerome's is a gem of a cafe located in a shopping plaza in Countryside area of Clearwater. Everything is made from scratch with fresh, quality ingredients. The interior is clean. There's plenty of seating as well. All the times I've gone, Jerome (I assume he is the owner/head chef/ head baker) seems to be the only one preparing the hot foods. If there's a large crowd or you have a large order, you may have to wait just a bit but your patience will be rewarded. In my opinion, they have the best crepes in all of Tampa Bay. They are closed on Sundays. I love and respect that. I've been here multiple times and never had a bad experience. Will be back. read more

It's an unassuming diner with a sign that says French Bakery. There are people coming for take out pastries. The chocolate and almond croissants are great (got one to go). The mocha I ordered was good. I should've gotten the bacon egg and cheese sandwich but I got the French toast based on reviews. It is not good. The toast was dry making me wonder if it was dipped at all. They are regular pieces of bread and "well done". It comes with fruit and jelly. The fact that it tastes like dry toast with no butter and served with jelly makes me wonder if that's intentional. I got a side of bacon and side of egg. After salt and pepper the eggs were good. Yes, Jerome is a real Chef from France. He makes the bread and all of the pastries fresh every morning. All of the coffee based drinks are outstanding. His sandwiches and other food items are totally over-the-top. Jerome's version of the Cuban sandwich and his Quesadilla are both freaking amazing! You can usually get a seat inside or outside. Food was okay until I spent most of the day trying to digest it. Had a late breakfast and couldn't eat the rest of the day. Based on prices, I would have expected better ingredients to be used. Béchamel in croque madame didn't taste like butter and was bland. Bread pudding was dry and dense. Crepe was also bland and probably seed oil filled. Felt like all the food we ate was seed oil based. Not trying to be mean but I wouldn't have indigestion all day if the items were made with butter and or olive oil or high quality ingredients in general. Staff was really nice and vibes were good or else it would have been a 1 but ultimately, we came for the food so that's what I'm judging. Located in a plaza off Enterprise Rd., it's easy to overlook this gem of a place. Jerome's is a quaint bakery that fits into the Safety Harbor neighborhood vibes. You walk in and you have a plethora of sweet bakery options and other menu items on the wall to choose from. I opted to try the almond croissant and a latte to go. After I placed my order and paid, I saw the sign at the pick up counter with the different flavors that could have been added to my latte, but that's okay. My order rang up to about $10 and if you're paying with a card there is a surcharge. The latte was good and the pastry was fresh. I'll be back to try their other items. This is my second visit to Jerome's Café and bakery. I usually only come here when my favorite breakfast French bakery, Elizabeth is closed. The first time I came. I ended up regretting it, and I regret it even more today. In search of a relaxing brunch getaway I came here today as Elizabeth is closed on Monday and Tuesday. I walk in and order at the cash register. The staff was perfunctory and unprofessional and chatting amongst themselves.There was little recognition of me as a customer and when I went to order, the prices were comparable to Elizabeth and a screen for tips popped up. I tipped 15% because I thought at least they would do something. There was no service other than slapping my crepe on the table.The whole experience was a major disappointment. The crêpe was tasteless. I had to get my own water ,eat out of and drink out of paper cups, and with plastic utensils. There was no service whatsoever. And while I'm sitting there an hour and a half before closing time, the two employees are talking loudly and sweeping the floors around me and acting as if there were no customers around. So in essence, I will say that the food was less than mediocre and the service was terrible. If I'm going to pay top dollars for a nice brunch, it's not gonna be to eat on paper plates and paper cups with plastic forks and knives while getting no service and dealing with sweeping and loud noises around me, I will say to end on a positive note that some of the pastries are good. But, next time I want brunch and Elizabeth is closed. I won't be coming here. read more

My rating is based on the pastries we brought home - sublime. I lived in France for a while and my favorite afternoon snack was a chausson aux pommes - an apple turnover. I can never find them in the US and Jerome's had them. I would make the hour long trip just for this - it was that good. Rich and flaky, just sweet enough to be a treat but not so sweet as to be a dessert. Delightful. The buckwheat crepe (galette) that I ate while there was a bit of a miss for me. I believed I ordered the Le Forestier. Ham, mushrooms, onion, cheddar cheese sauce, and an egg. I omitted the cheese sauce because I am not a big sauce person, but definitely not cheddar on a French galette. I feel all of the options had an American style cheese - I wish there was a Gruyère option. I feel that's pretty standard galette cheese and easy enough to come by. It honestly doesn't matter about the crepe though, because the pastries are the draw for me. I'll definitely be back to this cute and cozy spot for more! read more
