We also decided to try "The Originals" for the table, which is meant for two people, but ended up being a fun way to sample some of their featured dishes. Everything from the selection was solid, but some dishes definitely stood out more to me than others. The truffle siu mai and char siu pork belly were two of my favorites from the tasting. The siu mai had such a great flavor and texture, and the pork belly was SO good. The Ma La fried chicken was also tasty and definitely a table favorite, even though it wasn't necessarily my personal standout. The Florida gator was interesting and I actually really liked the sauce, which reminded me of an orange chicken or sweet and sour style sauce. The gator itself was a little chewier and leaner, so it was more of a fun-to-try dish for me than something I'd specifically order again. The Papa's egg roll was probably my least favorite. It was huge lmao, so definitely keep that in mind if you're ordering one for yourself, and while I appreciated that it was different from a traditional egg roll, the filling just didn't really do much for me. The jujube apple tart was also fine, just not a dessert I'd personally go out of my way to order again. Then we got into some of the other dishes we ordered, and this is where things really picked up for me. The Blackbrick Tower with the six steamed siu mai was delicious, and I love shumai so naturally this was an easy win. The Dan Dan noodles were also really good, but they had a pretty strong peanut flavor. I know that's common with Dan Dan noodles, but I've had versions where the peanut flavor is a little more subtle, so for me they were good but not my favorite. The Yangzhou fried rice, though... WOW. This was probably my favorite dish of the entire meal. Super flavorful, very salty, and completely my kind of fried rice. I know a couple people at the table thought it was a little different from a more traditional fried rice, but I absolutely loved it. I cleaned the plate LOL The curry prawns were another huge standout for me. The Thai panang sauce was SO good and I could not get enough of it. Between the prawns and the fried rice, those were easily the two dishes I'd recommend trying. The duck breast was probably another dish I could have done without. It was fine, just didn't really wow me, although I do love duck, so I'd be curious to try their whole roasted duck next time and see how that compares. Oh and I forgot to mention the hugo spritz! A good solid rendition and will definitely order again. Overall, we had such a fun dinner here.
