I think it was our first time coming and I like Asian food as much as the next person but mm this wasn't really me. Regardless our waitress was VERY nice. Inside it was also very nice. We sat outside and ordered the meatballs to start mmmmm they were not so good sadly. To order I think my sisters got the salmon and the Yaki soba while I got the bulgogi beef. The salmon was very good but the yaki soba was not seasoned very well and my beef mmmm not good either. I guess I just don't get Bulgogi beef. Why I'm giving 3 stars though is because I ordered the cherry blossom tea and the water wasn't even in the SLIGHTEST bit hot so the tea was not able to brew. Therefore basically I was served a second cup of water. I'm not saying do better to your restraint, but to your bartenders... DO BETTER!

calamari and crispy rice ahi before the recipe changes

photo is the calamari and crispy rice ahi before the recipe changes. i've been coming to wagamama for quite some time now... and i am NOT pleased with the recipies changed literally every time i go now. I'm not sure if it's up to the chefs, but after they changed the calamari to the rings and tentacles instead of the individual textured legs everything has gone downhill. that calamari was the best in tampa by the way as well as the dipping sauce that they also removed. i always get the crispy rice ahi and when they changed that, i was fuming. at first they changed the tuna supplier but then the recipe itself and after that it was never the same. every time ive been going the crispy rice ahi has changed. last time they didn't even use full slabs of tuna, they literally cut mine in half. service is good, never really had a complaint and setting is waters street approved for the larpers.

I had went to the run club event in DT Tampa and this was where they had an after event it was a really nice bar area and patio. I didn't eat to to try the food so for sure stopping in when I'm back in town.

Indoor and outdoor seating. Menu feat. mosty Japanese dishes, but also food from other parts of Asian, like chicken tikka masala. The service was substandard. Tuna poke bowl was pretty, but tuna had a less than fresh taste (had to send back). Tantamen ramen was really good, along with Korean soldier and bao buns. Booths seemed made for mini-sized people, so had to relocate to a table.

I've been wanting to check this place out for a few years and finally made it there! It has great indoor and outdoot seating. Wagamama is super stylish, but also casual. It was a nice evening, so we chose outdoors. We started off with a few drinks. I had a Ube Espresso Martini and it was 10/10. Would drink this everyday. Lol. My husband had a fresh juice drink w Calamansi (his favorite fruit). He's still talking about it. We had a few apps including the Tokyo Fries, Aji Tuna Nachos and Chili Calamari. Both were crispy and very tasty. For entrees mu husband had a tofu dish that we can't find on the menu...must have been a special. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars is that my food never came out. We waited over an hour, but they were busy and seemed short staffed. I didn't leave hungry...I was full from all those fantastic appetizers! We will definitely be back!

Wagamama was pretty good when we tried it a few weeks ago! The inside is very casual, upbeat, but the seating is very tight and uncomfortable. Most of the seats do not have backs on them and if you get sat in a booth, it is extremely tight. They tried to sit four of us there and that did not work out, it's really meant for two people! The food was overall very good. I had the chicken Ramen and we also did the chicken yakisoba noodles which was delicious. The drinks were pretty good as well! Our server was very nice when we moved tables, but our original Server was quite interesting. Coming up yawning right away while trying to talk at the same time. Overall, I would come back, but there are plenty of Ramen places to try in Tampa as well so I'm not sure I would be in a rush.

    Korean Fried Chicken Bao Bun

Huge location located off of Water Street in downtown Tampa. I think what the menu and what they actually offer are two different renditions. I'm not sure if it's due to budgeting or just incorrectly made, read the following description and look at the food app. "Delicious crispy rice bites topped with ahi tuna, Yuzu ponzu, avocado mousse, chili mayo, Yuzu zest + green onions" None of that is correct or featured. The photo on their website does not match either. True stars of the show: The Bao Buns. It's where it's at. These certainly hit the mark and were quite delicious. Sitting at the bar was better experience my second time here. The bartender was quite entertaining, and the drinks were made correctly. For the price point and for what you receive tho Wagamama is not worth the price point for their final product.

Wagamama was the perfect stop after an evening walk. My boyfriend and I came in craving something warm and comforting, and it definitely hit the spot. The food was flavorful, fresh, and well-portioned great for sharing a few dishes and trying different things. Shoutout to our waiter Steven he was super nice, attentive, and made the experience even better without being overbearing. The vibe was relaxed but still lively, making it an easy choice for a casual date night. Would absolutely come back.

We came here after a hockey game. The dining area eventually got very packed, but we were able to snag some bar seating. The bar seating is nice. It's very secluded. It feels very personable. The staff are very attentive to your needs. They're very quick with ordering and delivering the check. The bathrooms are fairly clean, and the drinks are pretty good as well.

Chili Hoisin Duck Bao Pillowy bao buns filled with rich, sweet-heat duck. Soft, savory, and incredibly satisfying in just a few bites.
    Jeff L.

I really wanted to love Wagamama, because the food delivers exactly what you hope for: bold, layered flavors and comforting bowls that hit the spot. The chili hoisin duck bao were soft, flavorful, and satisfying, and the spicy pork Szechuan ramen had great heat and depth with a rich broth and fresh toppings. The ambiance also deserves credit. Modern, energetic, and inviting, it is a great space to settle in for a meal. Unfortunately, the service held the experience back. Our server seemed uninterested, water did not arrive until after all the food was served, and initially brought the wrong bao buns. I also noticed another table nearby go without any server check-in for a solid ten minutes, which stood out. Maybe it was just an off night, but service is part of the experience, and it noticeably impacted the overall meal. With food this good and a space this enjoyable, I would easily rate this higher if the service matched the quality coming out of the kitchen.

This place has great ramen and interesting starters! The margaritas taste freshly squeezed and refreshing. The ambiance is typical of a downtown restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was great, timely and friendly. I consider it an evening well spent and will definitely go back to try some of the other menu items that piqued my interest.

Great looking restaurant on a perfect location in downtown Tampa. I was really looking forward to it since I had a few friends that had told us about it. Came for lunch with some co-workers and ordered the chicken ramen. I was so disappointed, it had no flavor at all. I'm probably going to give it another try in the future to see if it was a one time thing, but I'm really disappointed. The service was great, no complaints there.

Steak Bulgogi & Beet + Mango Juice
    Brennan S.

Thoroughly enjoyed me experience at Wagamma. First, I love the location. It's located in Water Street- which is a super modern, clean area in downtown Tampa. The food was amazing. My friend and I each got a different juice- which they press in-house with fresh ingredients. I got the Beet juice which was tangy, fragrant and smooth. I got the Steak Bulgogi which was extremely flavorful. The sirloin, chopped green onions, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, brown sugar and rice blended together perfectly. It was hearty and delicious- perfect portion size, too! The service was great- quick, attentive and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu.

The Ramen is okay, but it just doesn't hit like before. The restaurant was a laid back vide with Japanese inspired themes and music in the background. Our server points us to our table and hands us menus to start. We always start out with an edamame appetizer and then go ahead and order the ramen. My partner got the spicy tonkatsu and I had wanted to do the "make your own ramen" option. I really wanted wagyu but didn't like the toppings it came with. So I just made my own, though it was very costly to add more toppings, so I just chose 2. Overall, the experience was okay. The two not so favorite dishes for me were the fried rice topped with fried chicken. While chicken was very tasty the rice was extremely basic. Could have used eggs or other ingredients to elevate this dish. Also the Volcano roll was extremely disappointing. Normally the volcano topping is cooked or (torched) and this topping was cold and very unappetizing. Would not recommend this roll. Overall this place is a hit or miss. When your food is ready, they call your name over a microphone and you bring it to your table, which is available on a first come first serve basis. There's not really anyone working the front counter, which I thought was interesting. There's picnic tables out front where people were sitting with their dogs, so appears to be pet friendly outside. I had the curry with tofu and vegetables. I ordered spicy and enjoyed it. The heat kind of creeps up on you. I will order this again. BF had the chicken katsu - the chanko sauce was so good on it. The pickled daikon is a great touch, and if you like pickled veggies, that tiger slaw is AMAZING. We ordered a small plum wine to split. Portion sizes are HUGE, so I appreciated that everything was served in to-go containers. We definitely had leftovers that I may or may not have eaten for breakfast this morning. One thing I felt could be improved is that it's a little warm inside. Clearly they know that because there were fans on the counter. It's Florida and it's summer and their kitchen is busy in a small space, so probably the A/C is just a little overwhelmed. Great place overall.
