This was our second time dining at Wagamama Tampa, and once again the food, presentation, and service were absolutely outstanding. Chef Joel made our experience unforgettable. He came to our table to personally explain the Tokyo Fries, introduced us to the new Shrimp Bao and the new Crispy Rice with Yuzu Ponzu, and shared the inspiration behind the dishes. Everything tasted incredible, and you can tell how much care goes into every plate. We've been to Wagamama in the UK, but the Water Street location is truly exceptional. Chef Joel has been amazing both times we've dined here. He even took the time to talk with my daughter about the food, and it completely made her day. We were really hoping to find a spot with a great atmosphere, awesome vibes, and tasty food for our Sunday night dinner. We checked out a bunch of different restaurants, but they were all booked up. So, we ended up booking Wagamama for our dinner on Sunday night. After finding roadside parking near the restaurant, we checked in at the register and were shown to our table. Our server greeted us and provided us with menus. Following a discussion among ourselves and with our server, we began our order with a lychee martini and a coconut drift for drinks. For appetizers, we selected the Bang Bang Cauliflower, which our server highlighted as a very popular option, along with chicken pot stickers.For our main courses, we ordered the chicken pad Thai, Karage Chicken Strips for our toddler and the chicken firecracker dishes. Our drinks arrived first: a Lychee Martini and a Coconut Drift. The Lychee Martini contained a significant amount of vodka, so much that my spouse could only manage two sips. The Coconut Drift was better, but it still had an excessive amount of sugar. We got our Bang Bang Cauliflower appetizer. However, upon tasting it, we found it wasn't cooked properly. It tasted like they simply coated the cauliflower with sauce without properly cooking it. We were disappointed to have to return it. Following that, our chicken pot stickers arrived. The chicken pot stickers were just okay, without anything particularly noteworthy about them. They weren't even properly cooked around the edges. Both appetizers we ordered turned out to be disappointing. Our dinner arrived and included Pad Thai and Chicken Firecracker. Both dishes were just alright; they could have been better. Compared to how other reviews described them, they didn't live up to the expectations set by those reviews. We couldn't get the Chicken Karage Strips we wanted for dinner. We ended up having to comp the whole thing because even though the restaurant wasn't that full (only about 70-75% empty), we had to wait a super long time for the food to be ready. My group and I were excited to try this place. Sadly or experience was disappointing. The restaurant was not busy at all but it was clear that the waitresses were in distress, maybe not enough personnel on site. After being left waiting for over 25 minutes on the table and nobody taking the orders or bringing our drinks, we decided to go somewhere else. Food looked good, but unfortunately the service wasn't. I've been wanting to check this place out for a few years and finally made it there! It has great indoor and outdoot seating. Wagamama is super stylish, but also casual. It was a nice evening, so we chose outdoors. We started off with a few drinks. I had a Ube Espresso Martini and it was 10/10. Would drink this everyday. Lol. My husband had a fresh juice drink w Calamansi (his favorite fruit). He's still talking about it. We had a few apps including the Tokyo Fries, Aji Tuna Nachos and Chili Calamari. Both were crispy and very tasty. For entrees mu husband had a tofu dish that we can't find on the menu...must have been a special. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars is that my food never came out. Wagamama was pretty good when we tried it a few weeks ago! The inside is very casual, upbeat, but the seating is very tight and uncomfortable. Most of the seats do not have backs on them and if you get sat in a booth, it is extremely tight. They tried to sit four of us there and that did not work out, it's really meant for two people! The food was overall very good. I had the chicken Ramen and we also did the chicken yakisoba noodles which was delicious. The drinks were pretty good as well! Our server was very nice when we moved tables, but our original Server was quite interesting. Coming up yawning right away while trying to talk at the same time. Our server seemed uninterested, water did not arrive until after all the food was served, and initially brought the wrong bao buns. I also noticed another table nearby go without any server check-in for a solid ten minutes, which stood out. Maybe it was just an off night, but service is part of the experience, and it noticeably impacted the overall meal. I'm not sure if it's due to budgeting or just incorrectly made, read the following description and look at the food app. "Delicious crispy rice bites topped with ahi tuna, Yuzu ponzu, avocado mousse, chili mayo, Yuzu zest + green onions" None of that is correct or featured. I thought that the beef itself was very tender and cooked at medium to medium well. The noodles were flavorful but I do think there were part that were too clunky. The puddle was peculiar, we didn't sit we advised the bartender. She proceeded to tell us the fridge behind the bar on that side by the window leaks and the overflow drips and creates a puddle.
