I stopped by with a coworker for lunch. The restaurant is located in a side room in a small Korean market. They seemed to be doing brisk business fulfilling takeout orders. I ordered the jjangmien. My friend had the bibimpab. We split a kimchi pancake. Man, these were all bangers. We were surprised by a couple of little banchan offerings (pickled daikon and spicy cucumber). The jjangmien was quite large, so savory, and the sauce had meaty chunks in it. I tried my buddy's food, great sesame oil flavor and served with lots of gochujang. The kimchi pancake was so tangy. I was stuffed. Way exceeded expectations for such a low-key spot. I would come back in a flash if the opportunity were to arise. read more

Walking into the Asian market, I was excited to see the Dosi Rak Sign. There's a menu that shows the food and prices and when entering, you will see lots of pics of all of what they have to offer. There were two ladies in the kitchen and one lady somewhat by check out. I ordered beef bulgogi Dosirak(bento box), & bulgogi bibambap to go. She said 15 minutes so I walked around the market. After a while I came back, sat at a table and waited for my to go food. It was packed up in a bag and the same lady gave me my food. Thankfully I read the other reviews and went through the grocery store but I can definitely see how others get lost with all the signage outside. Inside of the restaurant is really small, not ideal for big groups but you're able to order ahead and dine in as we saw. Food took 35-40 minutes to come out with us being the second diners there, which is a while so be patient as I believe there is only 1-2 cooks. You place your order and pay first. There is also free water and cups to the right of the cashier. Menu with pictures on the wall to be descriptive and visualizing. Galbi: 5/5, so flavorful and delish! Bulgogi Kimbap: 5/5, it was filled to the brim, so good! Meat dumplings: 3/5, it was good. Beef stew: 3/5, it was also good. Bonchon: 3/5, it was okay. A request for an alternative produced something that seemed to be a cross between hoisin (yes, I know that's chinese) and gocujang. It's inside of the Korean market (bonus, you can shop while waiting for your food) it's a little more pricey than K-kitchen but they have fairly large portions with tasty banchans. I drove from Wesley Chapel to USF area to visit a Korean grocery store and imagine my surprise to discover Dosi Rak, that I've heard good things about, was attached. Of course I had to order! My Mom was with me and she tried Korean for the first time, she had the bulgogi bibimbap and loved it! I'm happy to be able to share new foods to her. I got something I've tried before,Bibimbap, veggie style and tried something new, Korean Street food Tteokbokki. Unfortunately I had a bit of a drive home before I could chow down but the food was delicious! My egg continued to cook on my ride back to Wesley Chapel so don't judge my photo based on the well done egg! We ordered to go bc my Mom is being ultra careful with covid even tho by the time our order was up the other diners had left. I have never had Tteokbokki as I said and it was delicious! My eyes were watering bc I'm a bit of a spicy weakling but it was too good to stop eating. The little rice cakes were such a nice texture chewy and soft and just yum. I could eat some more right now. Such a comforting food I can see why it's a popular one. I'm a carb fiend so it was quite delightful The sauce is very spicy, I handle gochujang fine but the added chili powder really lit me up but the flavor is so good despite the heat. Nice deep and rich smoky heat, better than what you find at American grocery store called chilli pepper. Definitely try Dosi Rak out! Our new favorite Korean spot! I love that it's attached to their market so you can shop and eat all in one. I tried the galbi beef and the marinade was delicious and gave the beef a little carmeling flavor. My husband tried the spicy chicken bulgogi and he said it reminded him of his favorites from when he lived in Korea. The kimbap didn't come with a dipping sauce but was tasty as well. Because this is a convenient option when I'm craving Korean. --- --- --- I've bookmarked Dosi Rak a couple of months ago because I am always down for beef bulgogi and I saw that the reviews here were really solid. When I arrived, I discovered that the restaurant is actually just a counter inside of an Asian market. You walk in, head to the far left and will find that there's a small area dedicated to the restaurant. I actually don't even recall if there were tables, but there were definitely no other patrons here (or in the grocery store, for that matter). As should be predicted, I ordered the beef bulgogi. Sadly, to be honest, it was not very memorable. It was possibly the least inspiring beef bulgogi I've ever had. It wasn't bad or anything, but it was not something I'd need to order again from here. But the 3-star bulgogi is brought up by what else I tried: chicken katsu and the wings. Both of these were great. I really loved the bbq sauce that accompanied the wings. The crispiness and the flavor of both of these items were ideal. In a heartbeat I'd order both again. I see people in reviews mentioning the short ribs, but I did not see those on the menu photos. This plaza is adjacent to the dingy yellow plaza with Kaleisia Tea. When you enter A-green, turn to the left , walk to the end and turn right. You will see a few tables with red chairs and a counter. They dont have a large scale menu but this is fine since it is small and sharing a space. They have different types of Korean dishes like bulgogi, japchae rice. Most of the items are under $10. I decided to get beef bulgogi ($9). It comes in a Japanese style bento box which makes it easy to transport. It has beef, steamed rice, veggies, and a side of Kimchi. This was MUCH tastier than 1 Family Korean that I went to last year. The beef was seasoned well and there was a good quantity. The kimchi was spicy and yummy. The rice had a purple tint to it but tasted like standard rice to me. It was a filling and balanced meal. They have canned sodas for $1 or carafes with water. The clientele was %90 Asian (Korean if I had to guess) and one white gal. So it probaby is authentic. Service was fine and polite. Cons They accept cash and card. But only take cash at the cafe counter. If you use card you have to pay at the grocery store cashier which is odd. Overall: A nice North Tampa stop to get some good Korean food. read more

I am so lucky to have found this hole-in-the wall hidden gem to get Korean comfort food! It almost feels like it's secret to know the existence of this place and only true locals know about it. Dosirak actually resides inside of an Asian grocery market called A-Green Oriental Market, so don't go looking for a sign that says Dosirak when you're driving there. When you enter the market, just go to the far left and you'll see it. It's a small establishment but they have some tables and chairs for you to sit and enjoy your meal. The area was very clean and the staff were friendly. They checked on us periodically and even the owner greeted us and made sure nothing was amiss. Dosirak in Korean means "packed meal" or lunchbox. The "rak" part means comfort, pleasure, or joy. That is also the small business' mission statement.. to offer you food with those standards. Space is scanty so don't expect an elevated restaurant like one of those Korean BBQ restaurant; it's more of a small mom & pop place to get a quick bite. It's not a large menu but there's an adequate selection to choose from. I personally love places with smaller menus because it let's you know the ingredients they use will be more fresh and your dish will be made with better flavor. I tried a few items here and left pleased with everything we ordered. My party and I requested the tuna kimbap, pork bulgogi, fishcake soup, and ttukbokki. I'm not even a fan of tuna but upon hearing a strong recommendation for this, I gave it a go and loved it. Everything was flavored well. The soup took me by surprise with the depth of flavors that the broth incured. They make it fresh and use crabs as a main ingredient to season the broth. The kimchi comes fried and for those who aren't a fan (like my friend) should still try this... fried kimchi has a slightly different taste to it (fyi, friend loved it). I love that there's a place closer to me that sells delicious Korean food and I don't always have to drive so far like South Tampa to get it. The prices are affordable. If you like causal Korean food court food, then you will really like this place. Of course, with this place called Dosi Rak, I had to order one. I got the Chicken Bulgogi Dosi Rak because I wanted something spicy. It also came with stir fried with vegetables, rice, and 2 daily sides. Everything in the Dosi Rak was delicious! I also ordered the Bibimbap - rice with different vegetables and beef. Spicy sauce on the side to be mixed with the food. Served with an egg on top. It was okay, but I think I was expecting more beef or more vegetables. I probably won't order this option next time because their other menu items seem more appetizing to me. We were so full from eating the Chicken Bulgogi Dosi Rak and Bibimbap, so we ordered our Kimbap to go. Dosi Rak is genuinely a quality restaurant. These types of eateries are known in larger cities as bun-shik, which means causal snack house. In this case, you order at the counter and get your own water from the water machine and utensils. You can even buy snacks and drinks at the market and bring them inside. The location in the side of a disheveled and half empty Korean market makes the location even more endearing. I love it. I really felt content and comfortable dining at Dosi Rak, so don't just always get take-out. The food is truly delicious and a value. Where else can you get spicy-sticky-sweet Korean style chicken wings for under $5.00??? Everything I tried was just as tasty, if not better than street food I have eaten in some of the most popular neighborhood in Seoul. The reason I say it is actually better is because the flavor is less sweet and more natural tasting at Dosi Rak. I tried the wings, jjolmyun, and tteokbokki. The wings were super tender, juicy, and sticky with just the right amount of kick. Jjolmyun was some of the best that I've ever had because the noodles were chilled and perfectly chewy (hence the name of the dish), and the fresh vegetables were cut into the same width as the noodles making the dish even more easy to eat and refreshing. I even brought some to work the next day to eat as a side salad. The tteokbokki was perfection. The rice cakes were puffy and super chewy, amazing. The fish cakes were tender and the egg was fresh. Take out or very casual sit down Korean in a grocery store. I love these kinds of places, hidden gems where you can get tasty and inexpensive food. Also love that you can browse the grocery while waiting for your food. I had the fried chicken and also the ramen. The fried chicken was perfect. It was crispy and well-seasoned on its own, and the sauce was on the side, so you could use as much of it as you want. The sauce was also excellent, a perfect blend of spicy and sweet. But the chicken could be eaten plain, if you prefer not to get sauce on your fingers. The ramen was also good. Very spicy, slightly unctuous kim chi broth, perfectly al dente ramen noodles. Extra kim chi on the side if you want more. I wish they'd poached the egg in the broth rather than turn it into an egg drop soup deal, but that's a minor qualm. After 3 late lunches here, finally had time to finish the review using their WiFi service. Like the name suggests, this is a casual, snack eatery that serves up easy, quick Korean food that is ideal for lunches. This is snackery eatery in Korean 'bun sik Jum.' This eatery resides inside A-Green Market which has a totally different name in Korean (says 'Hana' Mart). My Korean-American brain gets super confused when I see two different names. Anyway, back to snackery called dosi rak. The price is slightly less than reg sit down placem almost everything is under $10. That being said, even though the taste is on point, some dishes are not as plentiful in quantity. Like spicy rice cakes which are my FAVORITE Korean carb load snack choice. Not enough rice cakes! But I've had kimbap (cooked meat, rice, veggies roll) and bibimbap (meat and veggies in a bowl with spicy sauce) and they are on point. As a quintessential Korean, I also needed some hot soup to go with my bibimbap, so I ordered fish cake so u p, which sounds gross but it isn't. It's basically cooked imitation consistency of 'cakes' served in hot soup. It's 'oden' in Japanese. See how similar Korea and Japan are? Dosi Rak is a quick service restaurant located inside A-Green Oriental Market. My friend recommended this restaurant because I was looking for a place that serves fresh kimbap. Dosi Rak is located in a small plaza off of Fletcher Ave. It has its own parking lot with plenty of spaces. There are four tables that can accommodate up to six people each for dine-in eating. There were no other patrons in the restaurant when I visited, but if it WAS busy, there isn't much social distancing enforced unless the customers themselves choose to sit away from other guests. They did have hand sanitizer and extra cleaning supplies readily available to use to clean your eating area. Customers can order and pay at the counter; they will bring your food out to you when it's ready. The menu is written on the wall left of the counter. They serve hot entrees, bowls, noodle and street dishes. They have a variety of kimbap that's made to order, as opposed to pre-packaged kimbap that is picked up from other quick service places. I ordered a regular kimbap and a bulgolgi kimbap to go. My wait time was about 10 minutes when my order came out. The kimbap was delicious to eat! The veggies were very crunchy and the rice was not dried out. I enjoyed the bulgolgi kimbap slightly better because it had the added meat inside. It had excellent seasoning and stayed fresh to the next day. Although I only had a taste of what Dosi Rak has to offer on their menu, I would definitely go back for more takeout food. Dosi Rak is located inside the supermarket, walk in and go to your left. FYI despite the market being open til 9pm Dosi Rak is open until 6pm. Upon entering, we were greeted by the owners and orders taken. Took about 15 minutes for the food to be ready which was great because we walked around the grocery store and purchased some items. It's a cute little quick service Korean restaurant with very limited seating. Don't expect to be greeted by anyone for seating. You walk up to the counter and place your order -- they have the menu posted on the counter and despite being small they have an array of our favorites. They have soup options, meat options. I ordered the beef bolgogi, my hubs ordered the jajajangmyung, my daughter ordered the spicy ramen with no veggies. My bogogi was served in a cute lunchbox type container that had kimchi, fish cakes, and rice. The meat was a thicker cut (I prefer the thinner cut) and the flavor was good but not the best as it was sort of dry. I would've liked to have had more flavor and sauce on the meat. My daughter's ramen she said was just ok as well -- noodles would've liked to have cooked longer so was more soft but the flavor was good! My hubs dish was the winner of the evening. Both me and my daughter kept digging off of his plate and he actually ended up finishing mine. Lol. We all agreed that next time we are all ordering the jajajangmyung!!
