    Ca kho to

The good: shaken beef and nice servers. The ok: ca kho to (clay pot fish) fish is bland unless drowning in sauce, they needed to be marinate longer. Quails were nicely flavored but it was just 2 quails, cut in halves... more veggies than meat to fill up the plate. Fried chicken was done right on the outer layer, nicely crispy but what happened to the inside flavor? Like it was brined for too long. The bad: crispy tofu, crispy yes, flavor was almost non existent. Fried rice was so dryyy, it's not even crispy, just dry, needed more salt. The rau muong xao toi (morning glory) was bland, need more seasoning, tasted more steamed than stirfried.

Great service and food! I always stop in for some coffee with milk when I visit the market next store. Their Vietnamese coffee is the BEST in town. They are quick to take your order and getting to go is always speedy. They take great care packing up your items individually as well (see photo). When I do take time to stay and eat, it never disappoints. They staff is friendly, very quick, and the food is delicious. I highly recommend if you haven't tried their pho yet! The inside is so cute and inviting and you will always be greeted as soon as you walk in

Craving a boba drink & happened to be in the area. Ordered a fruit tea & it was very refreshing. Freshly made to order & fast. Very small restaurant. Will have to come back & try the foods here.

Authentic! My husband said this was one of the top three bowls of pho he has had in his life--chock full of meat and a delicious broth. I had a healthy but tasty dish of stir-fried tofu, mushrooms, bean sprouts, green onions and carrots. We also had mango bubble tea with plenty of boba. The tofu summer roll was just OK. When we asked questions about the desserts, the friendly owner gave us complimentary a sticky rice/corn confection and another with taro. Interesting but tasty.

**do not go here. seriously.** i came here simply wanting to try something new. i walked in and politely told the woman at the front that i would like to sit down and eat. she flat out said "no." thinking there was a misunderstanding, i repeated myself. again, she said no and told me i could only order to-go. i asked why i wasn't allowed to sit down, and she completely avoided the question. i repeated back to her that she was telling me i could not sit down and eat, and she nodded yes -- still without making any eye contact or offering any explanation. as a woman of color, this experience felt extremely uncomfortable and discriminatory. there was no clear reason given, no professionalism, and no basic respect. i left shocked, disappointed, and honestly relieved that this business did not get my money. i will never return and would not recommend this place to anyone.

Very delicious food. Will come again. Good service. Convenience area to shop for groceries.

This is where you go if you want an authentic family style Vietnamese meal. I was missing this kind of food so much and I'm so glad this restaurant offered it. Definitely recommend! You can get classics like pho and spring rolls, but also authentic dinner food like canh chua and ca kho. Wow! The food is delicious, just like eating at mom's or grandma's. Prices are reasonable. Service is fast and staff is friendly.

My friend brought me to this little restaurant for the first time this weekend. It's in a small plaza with just a couple of other businesses, I've driven past this place many times but I've never noticed it was there. The look of the plaza is a bit run down, but the inside of this restaurant is very cute and aesthetically pleasing. It's very welcoming, as far as the decor is concerned. I ordered the chicken pho - it was delicious. The broth is flavored nicely and it came with a very good serving of chicken and noodles with all of the extras on the side. I also ordered the thai tea with boba - the boba they gave me was not the traditional tapioca, it was like a fruit jelly which wasn't what I asked for, but the thai tea itself tasted good. My friend ordered the crab fried rice - I tried some and it was really tasty. My one complaint with this place is the service. We had to wave our hands to flag down our server - and even that didn't work sometimes. They were not very attentive at all. The only time they came to our table at any point was when we went out of our way to get their attention and call them over. I'll be back for the pho and fried rice - the food really is quite good, but if the service isn't great next time then I'll likely be ordering to-go moving forward.

Top 3 dishes here: Pho Shaking beef fried rice Clam steamed with lemongrass Let's not take my word for the pho, rather if my father says the pho is good, you better order it! He gets the pho here every time and it's consistently steaming hot, aromatic broth, perfectly tender brisket. I love the shaking beef (bo luc lac) at Viet Kitchen. It's a signature Vietnamese dish. The smokiness and black pepper seasoning is delicious. What makes Viet Kitchen different from other Vietnamese restaurants is the seafood! Grilled snails, oysters, clams. My favorite is the succulent clams with lemongrass. If you like steamed mussels, try the clams and taste that herb infused broth. They recently added bun bo hue to the menu too. A spicy beef and pork noodle soup, divine. Pho's sexy cousin as some may call it. There is also a variety of desserts so check those out! And right net door is Lien Hoa market. Two gems in one parking lot.

My brother and I have been here twice. The first time the servers were very attentive and nice. This time around 5 pm today, they were nice but not as attentive. They were in the kitchen laughing and watching stuff on their phones. One of them was on her phone at the front counter. We sat there for 40 minutes after got our food without them asking us if our food was good or if we needed anything. They were attentive when we were getting ready to leave, my brother had to go up to the counter and ask our server for To go boxes and the check. She gave us two desserts for 'free,' and it was because we didn't get good service. Other than that the food was delicious. Besides that the food was so good we can't complain. There was some crumbs on our seat, and on the floor where we sat, but the ambiance was pretty and the severs kept it very clean and tidy for the most part.

This place is soooooo good! The pho was great and so was the rice meat platter. My parents and grandparents are still talking about this place and it's only been a few hours... and they wanna come back! Too bad we live far from Tampa and are only here for a visit. The staff were kind and very helpful! The decor is very put together! Love it! FYI: parking can be tight. So big cars/trucks will be hard to navigate in the parking lot.

Go-to spot for Vietnamese food whenever we're in Tampa. Pho broth is beefy and well-balanced. Grilled items taste grilled, which we appreciate. Service has always been kind and welcoming to us.

First I have to say is YES YES YES! This restaurant sits at the corner of the Lien Hoa market and is easy to find but the turn to get into the plaza might get you if you're not familiar with the area. The restaurant is a bit small if you're going to have a big party of just enough to host a good amount of parties of 2-4 people. Staff were very attentive and menu wasn't overbearing. We got the spring rolls, fried rice and pho. Our spring rolls didn't come out but it was fine since I was full by the time we paid for our bill. Pho: 5/5! Didn't even need the condiments! Only thing that would make it much better is the portion as it's kind of small. Fried Rice: 5/5! Just a mouthful of flavor! So freaking good! Did I mention that the food out fast?! Another plus! Staff apologized for our spring rolls not coming out but it all worked out since I was already full and she gave us 2 free desserts! They've been opened since 2020 and I can't believe I'm just finding out about this place! It's a yes for me forever and I'm going back soon! 5/5 stars is sometimes hard to find but it was so easy here! Thank you, Viet Kitchen!

My latest birthday he picked Hales Blackbrick as he knew I never had dim sum before so thought a nice dinner with higher end dim sum would be just the trick. Walking into the place was a little crazy for me because I had been to that location when it was previously owned by others and I could still see some of the same things from before, though I gotta say, for turning it into a high end restaurant, some of the things they left should have been removed to fit the setting and price point. We started out with their family tradition egg rolls that is over 100 years old. We did the dim sum tower as we figured that would be the best way to try multiple styles and then we ordered the fried rice, which Ben knowing me knew I'd rather have it with the lobster option BUT I actually was fine without it because that would mean the fried rice would have been $50.00, but since it was my birthday, he ordered it anyway. Now, since I had not had dim sum before I am not sure if it was just theirs or if all are like this but ours were very watery when we would bite into them. I basically held up a small plate under my chin so that I didn't get any juice on my face or clothes. Didn't seem right to me and even Ben mentioned it and I know he has had them a few times. Also, out of the 3 different styles we got, it was difficult to make out which one was which as they were pretty bland. The rice was good but the small meat of the lobster tail was not worth the extra costs they charged for it and as I thought, the plain rice would have been fine with me. The best part about my evening was obviously my date and his thoughtfulness he put into planning our evening out.
