Came here this time since we stopped by the Pinellas Taco Fest, & it was right beside it. This time had the Bun noodle bowl with shrimp wrapped in beef #31. This also comes with a broth type soup. Also ordered the #55 Grilled Pork Combo Platter with broken rice Chinese sausage, shredded pork, egg, shrimp roll and shrimp. I did like my shrimp wrapped in beef. Every now & then i stumble upon a restaurant that blows away my expectations. PKG did just that. The interior was clean & neat, & the staff was excellent & helpful. But it's the food that stole the show. I ordered a vermicelli bowl with lemon grass beef. A large bowl arrived with noodles, beef, veggies, herbs, peanuts, & pure deliciousness. I added some hoisin sauce & their homemade fish sauce, & the food was elevated to new levels. Keep in mind most of the time I avoid fish sauce because it tastes fishy. Go figure. But this fish sauce had no fish taste at all. It was simply flavorful. The beef was great quality & the imparted lemon grass flavoring & ginger & other flavors in the bowl had me devouring my dish with complete unexpected joy. And to add to the fun, I ordered a Vietnamese coffee. They brought out a contraption which was creating the mix of coffee & condensed milk right there in front of me. The coffee was unbelievably different than any other Vietnamese coffee I've ever had. It almost tasted like a coffee liqueur with sweet condensed milk. It was completely satisfying. read more

I had the pork vermicelli dish and was pleasantly surprised because The fish sauce was different than what I'm used to but definitely good in its own way it seems their fish sauce is homemade. I thought they should get credit for their unique flavors as their chili (hot sauce) was also seemed different than what most places use. I'm a big fan of pho, and they absolutely nailed it the broth was incredibly flavorful, and the special combo offered a generous variety of meats. This was our first time at the original pho kien gang. We ate at the location that was on Dale Mabry several years ago that was run by other family members. We loved that place but this location in Pinellas Park is frankly superior. The summer rolls, vermicelli, pho were all delicious. The restaurant is basic Vietnamese (they could take lessons from the Thai places) but, it was clean and the staff were friendly and responsive. What a local gem, the pho was not watered down and the fried rice came to us as a little mountain on a plate! There was a generous amount of beef in my pho which had a mild aromatic taste. The beef continued to cook in the hot broth. We were given extra bean sprouts for preferential crunch. I can see why they are rated highly on help. Everything is kept clean. The price was completely different from what is listed on the website menu. I placed a to-go order expecting to pay a certain amount, but the total was much higher than anticipated. They also charge a 3% surcharge if you use a card, so make sure to bring cash if you plan on coming. There was no printed receipt; just a handwritten one and there was definitely a discrepancy between the online prices and what I was charged in person. Not bad for Pho. At first you notice the parking really does suck. Super narrow road with this puddle that never seems to dry out. Every time I come here I see that puddle and it never changes in size. The outside doesn't look as attractive as the inside. Once you enter the restaurant you get a home vibe feel. The servers were super respectful. I enjoy chatting with them. They made us fresh chili sauce, and also brought us extra cut up limes. I got the usual pho you can get in most Vietnamese restaurants. Comes with tripe, tendon, brisket and many more meats. The meat isn't the best quality or quantity but the broth is next level! The broth tastes super rich. It adds on flavor to the noodles and everything it touches. Overall I really enjoy going to this restaurant. The quality of food for the price you get is good. I really wish they would add some more meat to it because I finished the large bowl they serve here with no problem. The servers are also really great. Super friendly people. And if you know me, you know I love egg soda, so that already won me over from the start. The pork egg rolls ! Onto the pho! For $2 more, you get a large ass bowl of pho vs the small and I'll tell you, it's worth it. I was originally planning on ordering another bowl to take home with me, but it was not necessary as this lasted me 2 meals! They give hefty portions of bean sprouts and Thai Basil ! While the soup is not the best I've ever had, I'll tell you, this meal was the closest to it around these parts. So for that, they get an A in my book! Located in a run down plaza is Pho Kien Giang. We did not experience the "sketchy area" that most reviews stated. Coming from California, we found this place to be legit and I would highly recommend this place for pho if you're in Pinellas County. The pho special came with all the different meats. Sriracha has been a shortage every where you go so they didn't have a bottle here. Too bad, because it would have tasted even better. We got the cá kho tộ which is a caramelized braised catfish. Also got canh chua cá which is sweet and sour catfish soup. Both of these items reminded me of home cooking. The soup had lots of bean sprouts, tomatoes, okras, pineapples, bac ha which is like a spongey celery stalk, and 4 slices of catfish. The broth had the sweet and sour taste of tamarind. So good and it came with a large bowl of rice. I loves that it was fresh pineapple not from the can. Everything here reminded me of my childhood. Very authentic. read more
