I understand this place is a wonderful establishment, however the employees who were serving were sloppy and lazy. At some point the lady in front of me had a pile of what looked like goo on her plate. The lady worker did say she was only there for two days, but how much experience does it take to put food on a plate and serve it? At some point she used her fingers to adjust the food in the to go box, (IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMERS) regardless of wearing gloves, I didn't appreciate that. I was looking forward to this place saw the pictures online but when I went in person I was greatly disappointed. I stopped by at lunch time toady, it's been few years, and grabbed a couple of vegetable sambosas and strawberry lemonade. The sambosa had didn't have much flavor and the chutney tasted disgusting to me and sadly threw away the 2nd one. As an Indian person I'm always on the lookout for some good Indian food. Had 2 of their somosas and both were tasty, but not traditional. Like many Americanized somoas the filling was made from a fillo/puff pastry dough, did not have potatoes or peas and was small. These had sautéed bell peppers and onions, which while good, did not remind me of my mom's. Give this place a try, but temper your expectations. read more

On our second day visiting Pikes Place, I knew I wanted to try even more of what the market had to offer. I had walked by this stand several times the day before and couldn't stop thinking about how good the samosas looked. I talked my husband into sharing a plate even though we had just eaten some other yumminess from around the market. I was soooooooo right. We got a plate with a little bit of everything. It was all full of flavor, and the rice was PERFECT. The beef samosa was my favorite part. He added a bit of a delightful sauce, I believe it may have been some sort of creamy cilantro sauce. Really good food but a little expensive. It's not spicey but it's flavorful and very good. We tried their special milkshake ($4+) saffron pistachio which was good as well. The naan doesn't appear to be freshly cooked. I think maybe it is store bought. That was mediocre at best which was unfortunate cause everything else was so good. I m very surprised they call their food truck as INDIAN FOOD. I was very excited to try this truck and it took no time to turn my excitement into disappointment. I ordered the standard chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. The chicken tikka gravy was watery, tasteless and bland. I don't how can one go wrong with simple chicken tikka masala? I've been here twice for lunch. I was tricked the second time! The first time, I ordered the butter chicken and lamb kebob. The chicken in the butter chicken is too dry. The butter chicken sauce is pretty good though. The lamb kebob is a little greasy but super good. During my first visit, I noticed a grilled shrimp with mango on the menu and was intrigued. I went back a second time to order it but they said they don't have it. He then went on to say they usually don't have it. Then why is it on the menu?!? WHYYY??? This review is for the food truck. I am obsessed with it. for $7.00 I get 2 dishes, rice and salad. it fills me up and is a good bargain to boot. The food here is really magnificent. I really enjoy everything but I always get the spinach paneer because it's creamy and yummy with a good amount of spice (although this has been inconsistent). The other dishes I've tried, all veg, were great also. The lines can suck and take a while to get through which is annoying but I avoid that by hitting up the truck at 11:30 or after 1pm. One of the best Indian Food Stall I have tasted in Seattle. It is right beside another famous stall in Pike Place Market, the mini doughnuts, the Daily Dozen Doughnut Company. Try their pack lunch that consists of 2 meats and 1 rice. The Lamb is to die for!!! Quite expensive though if you want to go all meat. And there are no tables and chairs on the stall itself, so you need to look for it around the corner. Best to buy to go and bring it to the office. read more

This stall was near the really popular donut stand. We mainly stopped here to get something to drink since we were hot from all the walking around we'd been doing at the market. I had the $3 mango lemonade. It was good but severely lacking in ice. My friend Jenifer ordered the Mango Lassi and she gives her drink 3 stars. She said she thought it would be a lot colder than it was. It was good but not the best she's had. All the food and juices at Saffron Spice are fresh fresh fresh! I love the samosas...there are 3 kinds: veggie, chicken and beef. Naseemas yougurt sauce is out of this world!! I eat it with everything. It is garlicky, minty goodness and especially delicious with tamarind dollops added. I eat here several days a week. The paleek paneer is creamy with a zesty after bite. I had the most pathetic food from this place! I was wanting to have a wrap and decided to hop onto this place and got myself a "mix vegetable Bombay wrap". It was priced at $7.72. The lady at the counter billed me for $8.45 which I guess should be the tax and later showed the screen for tip that starts at 15%. To my surprise the total bill had come up to $12 when I chose 15% I was shocked but let it go thinking I need to have my wrap. But to my surprise, even the wrap was a tiny one with absolutely no good flavor in it! He rolled it in a tasteless vegetable wrap. Deep inside I was crying cos I paid a fancy amount for nothing!!! Got Vegetable samosas delivered by Peach Delivery from Saffron Spice. The experience was beyond horrible hence wanted to spread the word. Of the two samosas delivered, one had minced meat filling (please note this was supposed to be vegetable samosa). The other has potato peas filling. One bite of that and I realized that the potatoes have turned spoiled. They came with mint and tamarind chutney. Mint chutney smelled of spoil yogurt and the taste confirmed this. The proprietors were very friendly but in a rush to serve me.. they under-cooked my beef samosas and I was en route to a very bad mid day bathroom break(s). I would probably have given them four stars since the pastry was decent and it tasted good up until the cold beef part. That's pretty unacceptable. We tried Saffron Spice last week. We hadn't noticed them before at Pike Place Market. Apparently they moved in this January. It was a very nice couple who were running the business. We work at the Market so we don't have a lot of time to get our food. Saffron Spice has their main dishes completely ready for you to choose from. I asked for a few small samples and then decided on the Chicken Masala with rice for both of us. You get to choose your vegetables so for plate #1 we had their Curried Vegetables and plate #2 was the Saag (spinach). The meals were priced very reasonable at $6 each. What a deal! For a little extra, they will cook for you right there some Nann Bread (flat bread). $1 for plain or $1.25 for garlic (our favorite)! Additionally, we couldn't resist the Mango Lassi and the Strawberry Lassi for our yogurt smoothy type drinks. If you ask, they will give you some chutneys too. I tried the Mango Chutney and the Tamarind Chutney. Everything was very very good. The food quality, the flavor, the tenderness and the temperature. We were very happy with this new restaurant and we will definitely be going back a couple times a month at least. My favorite food is Indian and it is nice to now have a place in the Market where we can get it at a decent price and a quick pace. I am looking forward to trying their other dishes too. If you work downtown and are in a hurry like us, when you visit them, ask them for their to-go menu and their phone number so you can call your order in to save even more time. I haven't checked out the restaurant yet but their food truck is my go-to place for lunch in the south lake union area. Sad that they don't come to SLU on Wednesdays :( My favorite (and almost always what I order) is Chicken tikka masala + Malai Kofta with rice and salad. I have tasted the other stuff like lamb kabob with mint chutney, samosa, spinach paneer and aloo chickpea and everything is equally delicious! The other good thing is how fast the line moves. They don't prepare all the food in the truck and that's why they are able to serve so fast. Usually there is a very long queue outside this truck but I get my food within reasonable time and get back to work satisfied. read more

Cons: - Tasteless watery curries - The salad they gave as a side was only a little bit of lettuce - The spinach paneer curry had no salt and only 2 pieces of paneer - Aloo Chole was basically water with no trace of aloo in it - I ordered a side of roti which was as hard as a piece of leather and I had to throw it away - It cost 7.99 for the veg rice bowl and $1 for the roti. Had lunch there with my son a few months ago. What a pleasant surprise. The food was great and the service as well. I had a special request, it was no problem at all. Super friendly owners! My son had a smoothie with fresh vegetables and yogurt. I had a vegetarian combo of palak paneer and vegetable curry with biryani rice. I asked for more paneer (cheese) the fried it up in no time and added it and even gave me a small smoothie for free! Will go again when I'm at Pike Place. read more

The only thing Indian about this place and it's Food truck is the Indian name. Food is nothing like Indian food or flavor. In everything they add Potatoes as they are cheap and saves them more serving with less curry. The Naan they give is a flat bread not a Indian Naan. This is not how Indian food taste, look or smell like or should be served !! read more

Fantastic mango lemonade, although not very cold since they have them sitting out already. Kinda weird. The Bombay wrap was crazy delicious and not something I can really describe.
