The manager is overtly friendly, trying too hard to build a customer relationship, often times going overboard with comments like "I should give you more food so you can put some weight on" or "oh you don't want rice, are you dieting?". Hubs and I decided to past time while waiting for our dinner reservation, so we decided to walk around Pike Place. To quench the thirst (cos the thirst was real. This is a review for the food truck. They have a nice rice bowl setup where you get scoops of a couple different entrees for a few bucks. You also get nice clean saffron rice and some diced vegetables, along with a complimentary drink. The roast eggplant was a little on the gooey side, even for eggplant. They have three kinds of Samosas, veggie, beef and chicken (went with beef) The meals are either in wrapped form or served on rice (plain or saffron). I went with the non-vege meal with chicken tikka masala and creamy spinach. This came with a tiny salad and saffron rice. The beef samosa was decent for being kept in warmer. The chicken tikka was okay. Small portion but yummy over the rice. The creamy spinach I gander was some kind of ode to palak paneer or something but less flavorful and without the paneer. This is for the Food Truck establishment.I based my review purely on the food and speed since you don't really get service in a truck. The staff is friendly and very apologetic when they ran out of somethings. Even with a long line they were able to quickly pump out orders. The flavors in the Tikka Marsala wasn't the best i've had. It was very oily, over salted, and wasn't as creamy as i'm use too. It wasn't horrible nor was it great. The Lamb Kabob with mint Chutney was delicious. I haven't had it before so i don't have anything to compare. I will point out it was ground loose meat and not a "kabob". The naan isn't anything special. Felt like warmed softer version of pita bread. It wasn't thin, bubbly, and light like most naan I've had. The rice was also kind of oily and undercooked. Overall the food is more than filling and is satisfying but it nothing to rave about. This food truck used to be great, but the food has taken a dramatic turn for the worse over the last six months or so. First, they used to actually be spicy - like give-me-hiccups spicy! Now it is just bland. I thought maybe it was just an off day, but I have been back 4-5 times and they have permanently turned down the spice level on their beef kofta, saag paneer, and all their chicken dishes. Maybe they got a new cook or they were responding to customer demand, but now the food truck offerings are just insipid. Second, their tikka masala and other chicken dishes were made from shredded chicken that had been slow cooked until it was falling apart. Again in the last few months the food truck converted to using chunks of chicken breast, and these things are hard as rocks. It's like eating styrofoam. Really inedible. Grabbed lunch here yesterday. The line was long but moved super quick. You should probably go early because they sell out of stuff by 1pm. I got the non-veg rice bowl combo. The chicken tikka masala was actually really good. It was better than most other places and wasn't just colored cream. Good flavor and juicy chicken. We were walking around the market and I was craving fresh juice and I remembered seeing these guys from the day before so I dec'd to give 'em a try. I knew that I wanted beet juice but didn't know what complimented that and couldn't find any fresh juices on the menu so I asked if they would make it and their answer "We can make anything you want"-- GREAT ANSWER! They made a beet, apple and orange juice for me. The ONLY bad thing that I could say about it is that it was NOT cold and if you've ever had beet juice warm, it's quite EWWWWW. I asked for some ice but since the glass was full, there was barely any room for them to put ice so I was in a lose-lose situation and just tried to drink it as fast as I could before it got warm. Though tasty, enjoying it at this point was not possible. Next time, I'll try to bring my own glass or something bc that warm juice situation was NOT the business. This is actually for their food truck (yelp doesn't quite handle food trucks well yet afaik). It parks on Westlake in South Lake Union on Thursdays at least. first of all the food was good. They are also super quick. Literally ladle out a rice "bowl" (really a plate of rice with two sides) in seconds. The curry chicken masala was flavorful although you needed the rice because it was a little salty and the Matar Paneer was nice. Overall a great value in South Lake Union because it is fast and not expensive ($8). read more

We got some spicy lamb kathi rolls from here and holy shit they were good. They were delivered through a food delivery service and ended up being cold but even then I savored every bite. The green spicy chutney that they came with was a nice addition to make the flavor profile more interesting. Would go again and again! read more

If you are a vegetarian I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. I had tried their food truck at Stewart street about 5 times as its the closest Indian option to my work place and I regreted every time. If I try it again I would surely get a tattoo in my hand reminding me never to get food from this place ever again. I gave 1 star because of the following reasons: The taste is so bad, I am not comparing with the food you get in India (or bay area) as its unfair, its just bad by itself. I have been living in the US for 2 years, had Indian food at various places and this is easily the worst. Cost is too high. I spend lavishly, but this place actually made me feel bad for spending a lot for this worthless food. $11 for a biriyani that tastes like shit. I am sure this is how shit tastes. This is a review of the food truck. I was torn between a 2 and 3 star. I've been here twice for lunch and it's a pretty good lunch deal at $8. You get rice, salad, 2 entrees and a soda. The curry sauces aren't bad, but where these guys go astray is the meat. Here's a brief description of each visit: 1. Got the chicken tikka masala with the lamb curry. The chicken tikka masala is good, but for the lamb curry they use gyro meat. If I'm buying lamb curry I expect real lamb meat, not frozen processed lamb gyro meat. 2. Got the chicken tikka masala with the beef meatballs. Again, chicken tikka masala is fine, but on this one the beef meat balls were those little frozen swedish meat balls you get at Costco. Come on man, can't you make real, fresh meat balls? I'm Pakistani so I know good Pakistani food. The sauces are fine, but you can't make these dishes with this type of meat; it just doesn't work. One of the many iconic stalls that marks such a remarkable place, Saffron Spice was a place I've always wanted to try. What drew me in was the donuts next door, but I stayed for the combo curry selection they had. Their mixed veggie curry was dectibly spiced yet mellow enough for anyone to enjoy. The somosa is deliciouse but dont just stop at that they make great fresh to order smoothies plus I had the delight of trying both their Salmon burger and their lamb wrap which were both delicious. The salmon Burger was so great with a nice amount of spice and red peppers and onions not to mention a buttered up bun. These folks obviously know how to make good Indian food. I've had the lamb curry, the spinach paneer, and the malai kofta. All of these were AWESOME. The roti is also very good. The samosas are also probably the best samosas I've ever had. Why not five stars then? Because about 50% of the time, the food they give me is warm and right on the verge of being completely room temperature. This is kind of nasty, but since my office is only a block a way I usually just zap it in the microwave and it becomes delicious again. I understand this place is a wonderful establishment, however the employees who were serving were sloppy and lazy. At some point the lady in front of me had a pile of what looked like goo on her plate. The lady worker did say she was only there for two days, but how much experience does it take to put food on a plate and serve it? Pretty good, pretty cheap. The veggie samosas were fabulous and earned that fourth star all by themselves. Everything else was straddling the border into blandness territory, but still good, if not rich and spicy enough for us.
