I saw someone with what looked like a strawberry lemonade walking around the market and tracked it back to this spot. They have different flavors, all sound and look so refreshing. I got the strawberry mango lemonade and it was the perfect choice. Refreshing and the perfect amount of sweetness, coming from someone who's more of savory rather than sweets person. We also tried a chicken samosa, it was fresh, hot and packed with flavor. Had us wanting to try the other flavors. The food was tasty, but I found the pricing difficult to understand. When I asked for an itemized receipt, the owner said he would provide one, but I never received it. The receipt I did receive was not itemized, making it impossible to verify how the subtotal was calculated. I later returned specifically to look for any posted information about an additional charge for paying by credit card. The menu board was difficult to read because several prices were faded or smeared, making it hard to verify the cost of individual items. While I was there, another customer asked, "How much is it if I pay with a card?" Instead of answering verbally, the employee entered a number into a calculator and showed it to the customer, who then chose to pay cash. I left without knowing whether I had paid a credit card fee, a service fee, a takeout fee, a kitchen fee, or some other charge. I simply could not determine what, if any, additional fee had been added or how it was calculated. The food was good, but I believe customers--especially visitors to Pike Place Market--deserve clear menu pricing, itemized receipts, and transparency about any additional charges. read more

I am grateful for a veg option at the Marketplace. I ordered the veg rice bowl. I think it is a bit high priced. It tasted ok. The staff were courteous and prompt. They do charge a very high service fee of 10%. Also, the receipt is not itemized which you do not know until you get the email making it useless for expense reimbursement. read more

I'll start with the positives. The two guys working were friendly and welcoming, very warm and inviting which you gotta have in the market. I didn't get a smoothie but they did look great, and may be the only reason I would return. However, a couple negatives. The garlic naan I got could have just as easily been sold as pita bread at a nearby Mediterranean spot. They made it "garlic" by adding maybe 10-15 individual pieces of garlic on a little speck of the bread. For the rice bowl, I got the Mumbai chicken and lamb kofta. The tikka masala was tasty but had little to no spice- not asking for Level 5 from here, but at least some more kick would be good. Lastly, I got hit with a 10% credit card transaction fee, making the final total much higher than expected. In all, I paid $24, which for $18 I can go to Spice King and get more curry and way better naan. I would recommend checking out the smoothies, but there are way better quick lunch options Indian or non-Indian in the market or market-adjacent. read more

Ommmmgggggg their samosas are the best ones I have ever tried! They are massive and DELICIOUS!!!! For $3! What a steal. I got their veggie samosa which has potatoes and chickpeas. I also got their beef one which had peas, beef and onions. They are crispy and full of flavor! It comes with this semi spicy creamy sauce. I just wish they added spice to the filling, not in terms of heat but in terms of flavoring. What helped with the flavors of the samosas was the chutney and tamarind sauces that were served. Saffron Spice is located next to Daily Dozen doughnuts. There is a small seating area between the donut counter and Saffron Spice. I get a few samosas with their yogurt sauce and the kind of spicy sauce and am HAPPY! We like the chicken and beef samosas equally. The samosas are crisp and warm and ready for dipping in that delicious sauce! You can also get wraps, they're very filling. I've seen the food truck around Seattle but have never tried that option. The menu at Pike's Place is limited in comparison. Give them a shot before spending way too much elsewhere in Seattle. read more

INCREDIBLE samosas. Very flavorful; the chicken is perfectly cooked and flavored well, and the veggie (potatoes and peas) is incredible as well. Sauces were out of this world. I wanted to really enjoy this as I love Indian food but I was sad to find all of the entrees were super bland and lackluster. The chicken tikka had no chunks of chicken and the sauce just tasted like tomato sauce. The lentils, while better than the chicken weren't spiced and almost just tasted like a ladle of lentil soup. I have yet to find another Indian restaurant in Pike Place but doubt I'd buy another meal here. read more

I went to the truck and I think during lunch rushes, they just prepare everything and keep it heated because my food was ready instantly, but it was lukewarm. Came here for the first time for lunch because I was craving something spicy and was in the Market. It took the three employees working there nearly 5 minutes to see me standing there. There were no other customers present so that probably was a bad sign. I proceeded to order a two curry plate with salad. Not all of the curries were labeled but all looked pretty good. I paid for my order with a credit card which was surcharged $0.50 and proceeded to take the lunch back to my desk to eat. The flavor of the curries and the salad dressing was actually pretty good. The chicken masala was very flavorful and had a nice thick curry. The meatball curry was super buttery which was both tasty and slightly unappetizing. Neither had any spice whatsoever. I think the only thing that was really off putting was the salad. It was iceberg lettuce and really brown. It definitely wasn't the spring greens that I have seen in most everyone else's photos. Why would any restaurant in Seattle serve iceberg lettuce, and if you are in the Market it better be fresh. That's the main reason that I docked two stars. That and the service wasn't that friendly. I've probably said this before, but I get Indian food everywhere I go and pit them against one another. A small food stand like this would not be my go-to, but Pike Place is not very conducive to vegetarianism without being pastries. There are a couple of combos to chose from at around $9. I got the veggie one, obviously. Several options to choose from including a generic veggie curry, saag paneer and chickpeas. I got the latter two. It was served over a huuuuuuge bed basmati and a side of onions and peppers. I opted out of the salad. It was average. On par with what you would expect from an express food joint. I wish they severed naan instead of rice, but I didn't see that as an option. The flavors were good, but not enough spice. Will definitely please the masses. The food tasted ok. Not too bad but nothing great about it either. They have daily specials, like in vegetarian today they had veg korma and yellow dal as well. Their chai was pretty good. Price - pretty reasonable for the quantity of food. Post taxes it was $8.81 for the vegetarian rice bowl. Quantity - decent portion size for one. Service - they were very quick. I had to wait only a few mins after placing my order. Overall - If you're in the area and the line is not too long, it might be a quick option. However, that about surmises the entirety of my positive experience, which concluded with my first bite. When you can't tell the tikka masala from the salad dressing you know something's wrong. Typically, Indian cuisine carries with it an expectation of strong, well-rounded flavoring. This was not the case with Saffron Spice. The spicing, ironically, was the weakest point of the dish as I struggled to differentiate one bland flavor from another. The only unique flavor was the naan, baked with enough butter to make the doughboy himself raise questions. Yes, the dish was edible, but just so.
