Full stop the food here is absolutely worth it. I had the saag paneer and my partner had the chicken vindaloo. I had a 2/5 but couldn't really taste the spiciness so I'd probably go a little higher if you like spice. The naan was amazing and the chai was probably some of the best I've ever had at an Indian restaurant. The people working here were lovely and kind, but the reviews that mention people doing strange things and entering the restaurant or doing drugs or other things outside the window are correct. There was a person who kept coming in repeatedly and trying to ask for free food and was bothering the host. There was a guy waiting on his food who seemed to know the workers who sent her away finally. But I'm really pretty frustrated with how this amazing restaurant is forced to just contend with this kind of thing when there was a police car parked one block over and 6 cops chatting across the way on the corner. I'd definitely go back here despite that and I never felt unsafe, but my partner felt he'd only want to come back for take out or delivery. This is my FAVORITE Indian restaurant in all of Seattle! Why? Because it's a cross between great food, reasonable prices, and good service. The food: I've had their naan, samosas, veg pakora, chicken curry, chicken vindaloo, daal soup, chicken saag, and aloo gobi. My favorite is the chicken vindaloo. The chicken is very tender, and the dish is very flavorful. The potatoes are also very tender, and unlike most Indian restaurants in Seattle, hot means hot! Service: The service is great! I can't believe how quickly they could bring food out - especially since I've gone in while they're slow and know they make everything fresh to order. Prices: Very reasonable prices for an Indian restaurant in Seattle - especially for downtown. Portion sizes are just a little on the small side but not bad at all! Atmosphere: While the place may not have the best or upper end ambiance, I think it's quite nice. It is a bit more of a hole in the wall, but it still feels nice inside and you can look out their window and see folks passing by. read more

Wildly varied meal. Absolutely loved the fish pakoras and saag paneer. While tasty, the goat curry was more like curry flavored soup with a little bit of goat. The flavor was nice but it was disappointedly runny in consistency. The garlic naan was ok - was missing a little something - maybe needed a little more time in the tandoor? Unsure but I wouldn't order it again. Would give the curry another chance as it's the missus' favorite Indian dish. All in all - I'm kind of torn. Doesn't look like much when you walk pass but the food is spot on! Located on Pike not too far from the market, this little gem has some fantastic authentic food. We popped in here and was greeted when walking in and opted in to dine in. The service is friendly and helpful. The paneer was spiced great and fried to perfection. The lamb wrap was huge and very filling. It was delicious! As for the tandoori chicken, YES, this was worth it. It came with 4 big pieces of chicken, veggies and rice. The chicken was seasoned well, tender and juicy. It was so filling I took half home for lunch. It was absolutely delicious! Overall, I do not have any complaints and only compliments for this place. Can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious food. They also have takeout if you do not want to dine it. Haven't tried it but it appears it would travel well. You know when you go to a shopping mall or a college campus, there's usually a food court? A food court consisting of decent and sub-par dining options. Well, given the quality of the food, I wouldn't be surprised to find Spice King Seattle in the midst of a local food court. Now, the food was not terrible. Decent, actually. But it was far from authentic and nothing mind-blowing. We ordered: lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. Lamb biryani: major skimp on the lamb with a ton of rice. And the sauce was very watery and did not add to any flavor. The rice wasn't bad, but the star of the dish was supposed to be the lamb, or lack there of. Chicken tikka masala: honestly, we thought it was tomato bisque. On top of that, major skimp again on the chicken (probably 5-6 pieces in total). The curry tasted sweet and was actually pretty pleasant, but it had a huge tomato bisque taste. Garlic naan: cooked beautifully and was a great complimentary to the curry and biryani. Only problem? NO GARLIC AT ALL. Really big disappointment. Overall, this place wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I heard the one in Renton is great, so we'll skedaddle over there soon. read more

Total score today finding this gem. I already love the Renton location and got super excited when I walked by and found that there is a DT Seattle location! I got the paneer wrap with butter sauce on the side ($1.00 upcharge) to drizzle on top. The wrap was soooooo good! The cashier was super sweet and really made the experience all around great! However, I can understand why there are negative reviews. The cleanliness was a little questionable---the bathroom specifically. But honestly, it's a downtown hole in the wall! They're the best places for great food, so i'm not even mad about it haha If you can overlook that small aspect, you'll love their food and hospitality! read more

This restaurant is one of my absolute favorites. Their chef's special is the best deal you will find downtown, bar none. $9.99 for a huge portion of curry (usually chicken), plenty of Naan, rice, salad, and a canned soda or bottled water. My husband and I split the meal and always have leftovers to take home. The food is absolutely delicious, fresh and piping hot. Worth it at three times the price. The lovely lady that greets and takes orders is very friendly and remembered us and our preferences after a couple of visits. I couldn't recommend this place more! read more

We will be driving from lake stevens next time we want Indian food. It was quick and also the flavors were incredible. That tandoori chicken was unbeilable. Stopped in here after walking around Seattle all day, definitely a very hole in the wall type Indian place right outside of pikes market. I knew when I walked in that this place was gonna be legit. Seems to be a family owned, so don't expect the works. I live in the neighborhood and usually order my Indian food from another place a few blocks farther right across from Pike Place but decided to try this place bc the prices were lower and there was more variety. Man I'm so glad I decided to give it a shot. We ordered the Meat Thali, Paneer tikka masala, a side of roti and mango lassi. Now please note I'm by far not an expert on Indian food so I can't comment on "authenticity" but everything we ordered was delicious and my husband and I agreed this would be our new go to spot for Indian take out. We got so much food for what we paid and I was stuffed and only finished half of my order. Meat Thali - this is an amazing deal. You get so much variety and it comes with naan. We had never tried any of the curries that came with it but they all tasted delicious. My picky husband was very satisfied and happy with this. Paneer tikka masala- delicious and the sauce tasted much better than nearby places we used to order from Mango lassi- good but a bit watery compared to other lassi I've had. With an extensive menu that covers the basics of Indian cuisine and then some, it was the perfect place to satisfy both the appetizer-fiend her spice-averse sister. I was able to eat my fill with an order of two appetizers; a plate of vegetable pakoras and the perfectly sized single samosa were enough to fill me up - and they were delicious, too! Spice King Seattle - Meat Vindaloo - Indian Near Me - Seattle, Washington

How have I not reviewed this place? I've only eaten here about once a week since I moved to Seattle! Though tonight is the first time I've ever had DoorDash deliver it. Spice King is located on Pike, between 2nd and 3rd, in what one might fairly describe as "a war zone". It's not a great neighborhood, only two blocks from Pike Place Market. That probably explains why I'm usually eating there by myself, while food delivery service folks go in and out. The poor family that runs the restaurant frequently has to chase drug users out of the vestibule where they are blocking the door. That said, it's totally worth it. The food is really great. I almost always get the Meat Thali, which comes with chicken curry (a red curry), chicken saag (a green curry), a piece of dark meat Tandoori chicken, naan (bread), rice, salad with dressing, raitha (a sort of cucumber yogurt sauce), and kheer (a sweet rice pudding). They number their spiciness level, and most places, I'm a solid "medium" or even "hot", but here, a "three" is sinus-clearingly intense for me, and even "two" is pretty exciting. Fortunately, even when it's really spicy, it's flavorful, and not just "burning". I prefer their saag paneer to their chicken saag, but when I get the Meat Thali, it's usually not worth the effort to make the substitution. The naan is that perfect combination of light and fluffy, but with a bit of char, and the Tandoori chicken is also well seasoned, with just the right amount of char. And the kheer. Well, let me just say it is the only dessert I've ever looked forward to that wasn't made of chocolate. It's sweet, but not too sweet, with a great texture. The thali is always a lot of food, but having it delivered today, the containers for the curries seemed like about fifty percent more than what is served in person in the restaurant. That did not stop me from completely stuffing myself with it. I think I'll be saving the kheer for later. Speaking of delivery, I was not expecting it super fast, because when I come in to the restaurant, the service is never particularly speedy - which is fine, because I'm never in a hurry. But having it delivered, I think I got my food faster than if I'd walked over and sat down in the restaurant! All neatly packaged, and still warm. I rarely have food delivered, but it's nice to know that it is a viable option. But I'm looking forward to heading back in person next time, where I'm always greeted warmly and treated kindly. read more
