Our friends recommended this spot as it is nearby the convention center and apparently a tradition for them to dine at whenever they go to Sakura-Con. We were really hungry and decided to join them as I've had this spot saved too as the reviews were pretty positive. They were definitely very popular but we were put on the waitlist but I think it would be helpful if they took peoples' numbers as apparently they would just shout it outside. We weren't aware as we went somewhere else to wait as it was very cold. When we arrived, a different employee started cleaning a table for us and we waited but then the employee who did put us down was frustrated with us as he called us and no one of us answered cause we were elsewhere. We weren't sure if we had a spot after that but luckily the employee who was cleaning was done and offered that spot. They also did drop a glass cup after cleaning nearby which was concerning but they did clean it up right away. Once we were seated, it took almost a half an hour to get some to take our order. Luckily we did get our water refilled decently but there were a few times where our empty glasses were seen and ignored. I definitely think there should be staff training as it was non-existent. I understand being busy but you're across the convention center so it should be expected. The music was also so low I didn't know it was even on, they have a loud fan going on and even their TVs have no volume. It's a pretty awkward ambiance, especially with how they try to look like they are a upscale restaurant. It did take some time to get food and it seems like the kitchen was frustrated too as I heard the bell signaling food being ready several times. The food was actually good, especially for the price. The portions are generous. We never had paratha but our friend recommended it so we got the aloo paratha while my boyfriend got their butter masala and I got their tikka masala extra hot. It wasn't really spicy at all, definitely nothing like what I've had at other Indian restaurants. The curries were flavorful with good pieces of chicken. We might return if we need something nearby but there are definitely better options that I would walk for. read more

My feeling toward Daawat is, "It's fine." The best part of the meal were the samosas, which were flavorful and piping hot. Portions were generous all around. Naan was rock solid. But, there were also several negatives during our visit. For one, the medium spice level was fairly bland, so our palak paneer and chicken shahi korma left much to be desired. Service was slower than it needed to be, given the light traffic in the restaurant. And, strangely, our kids' fried fish included a chicken tender -- though, honestly, the chicken was better received. So, a mixed review is the best I can do. This is my go to spot for Indian food in Seattle. I've gotten take out numerous times and dined in a few times, and it never disappoints. The food is delicious, comes in pretty large portions (I always have leftovers). You could definitely do family style here, or order an individual dish, and one order of nann is enough to feed 2-3 people. The restaurant is always pretty quiet, but service is great, and the waiters are very attentive. It has a very formal feeling but is a casual spot and would be a great place to eat after exploring downtown. The only downside is that parking can be hard to find. read more

While in Seattle, there weren't too many things around that sounded good and we wanted to eat somewhere close to our hotel. We haven't had good Indian food so we ended up picking this place (rating was good and food looked good). We ordered crisp calamari, tikka masala (chicken and comes with rice), and garlic naan. The calamari was perfect. Crispy and tender calamari. They give you a good amount. It was perfect for the two of us. The tikka masala was really good too! Just needed some chili oil / hot sauce. The rice was basic. Wish it were garlic rice. On the other hand, the garlic naan was REALLY good! Ate more of the naan than the rice. They give you a good amount and they freshly make it in house. Daawat also serves one of the largest servings of naan bread I have had recently. 1) This inauspicious grill nestled in the heart of Seattle is close to a white cloth restaurant with a full bar and great staff. 2) My food was just right for the afternoon and my sauce was plenty to cover the chicken and some to dip the naan in. 3) I have to say they have some menu options that I had not seen before and when I return I will have to try. It was more of a mixed saucy texture with larger pieces of chicken. I'm used to it being more dry. The portion was also very generous. Service was pretty good. For food we ordered the Tandoori Chicken and Lamb Vindaloo. Curry was thick and the rice was not dry. They forgot to bring the naan bread, but they brought it out when we were finishing up our meal. They apologized and took the naan bread off our bill. The naan bread was fluffy and buttery. For drinks, I ordered the Chai Tea. Tasted great, had subtle hints of cinnamon. How do you go out for a late dinner on a Monday night in Seattle? There are few options. One of them is Daawat Indian Grill. We were welcomed to a restaurant with white table cloths. They began by giving us a complimentary offering of vegetarian pakoras with green and red chutneys. This dish was fresh, crispy and superb. We ordered several dishes. Of course Tandoori chicken, then peas and potato curry, chicken curry, chicken biriyani, naan and rice. All these were well prepared, bursting with flavor and had intense taste. I've never dined in but I always do take out and their coconut curry is the best. It's definitely my favorite vegan dish in Seattle. My boyfriend loves the Tikka Masala with Paneer. Always ready very fast and delicious. Great portion sizes for a (relatively) cheap price. Definitely a must try in Seattle and my top spot for Indian food as well as one of my top spots overall. We've ordered takeout from here plenty of times and have also eaten in the restaurant. Everything is always timely and the food is fresh off the grill. When we went in the spring, the temperature inside the restaurant was OK, but we went here recently with friends, and it was quite warm inside, I don't know if it's because it was just a hot day or if they don't really run a/c but we were warm Service is fine, nothing particularly stands out as being either great or bad. We always order the veggie samosas, also love the masalas, biryani, aloo gobi, naan, and lassi of course. This place is conveniently located near the convention center and the paramount theater, so if you're looking for lunch or dinner before or after your event, I do not think you will be disappointed if you eat here! read more

Disappointed. Such a good restaraunt but it was sabotaged by bad energy. Today's meal tasted like smoke and mirrors. Or maybe more like their attitude. Both statements are not facts but my opinion. From the time I walked in and they sat us until we got the check, the energy was just off. The guy that brought us to our table literally dropped menus on the first table we walked past and kept walking without even changing head direction towards the next table which he started cleaning. My date went to the bathroom but I just stood there waiting for him to say something. Maybe he dropped the menues and started cleaning that table just for us. Maybe he is having a bad day and doesn't want to look at people. Either way,, Not a word, so I sat by the menus. I eventually asked if I could move to a better table. Our server was slightly better, but something about him was off. Maybe he and the other guy had an argument moments before we walked in and decided to hit the switch and serve us as we walked in. He was still nice. I swear when he was taking an order at another table, when they weren't looking, he pretty much gladly checked out for a moment before paying back attention. It was quick, but I seen it, and it was the look of, I'm ready to get out of here 3 hours ago. Then came the apps. My app was deep fried. Supposed to be aloo tiki. It was, but felt like it was well made then frozen in some food processing place and not made by the restaraunt. The first one I ate was half hollow. The next was only a little bit hollow. And the last had enough spices inside to guess it was aloo tiki. Then came the Mango chicken curry and paneer Naan. The curry had an interesting taste. The mangoes used may have been bad. The paneer Naan, looked promising and stuffed with paneer, but only stuffed at the visible openings. The first piece I grabbed had almost all the paneer. Last was the bill, we realized we never got out Mango Lassi. So we had him remove it before paying. He seemed surprised they forgot but fronted by saying oh, you don't want it still. Uhhh, we asked for it to come out with our food, not after we paid and are ready to leave. Fortunately they were professional and the food was fairly high quality. Just tasted like it was made with hate, not love. I'd come back, but I wouldn't recommend the Mango curry. Or the aloo tiki. Or the flavorless plain paneer on one piece Naan. read more

The food selection and reviews of this place made it enticing to check it out, especially considering that not many places were open the day after 4th of July. My friend and I shared the mixed grill tandoori, vegetable curry specialty, and garlic naan. While I enjoyed the tandoori, I felt that the chicken could be more tender and the meats can be less burnt. They gave a huge amount of vegetables and rice that we couldn't finish, and all the dishes portions were huge. The garlic naan is pretty solid though. I would say there isn't really anything to rave about; the quality is quite standard What was irritating was that the service and food took way too long, even after considering the global staff shortages in restaurants. It took 15 minutes to order the food, with 45 minutes to finally get the food despite an estimate of 20 minutes for the Tandoori. In fact, a table next to us were sat after us and finished their meals well before our food arrived which was ridiculous. Fortunately we were not in a hurry, but I wouldn't recommend this place if you don't have a lot of time to spare. read more
