The service and food were spectacular. The atmosphere was perfect for a celebration and making good memories!

Went here for a date night and the food and service were both excellent! We tried the Samosa Chaat, Paneer Tikka Masala, and Veg Maratha, with garlic naan and rice. All were delicious! I'm so glad they had many vegetarian options to choose from. I was a little bummed that we weren't able to order cocktails because their bartender was out, but we enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine. The server was very kind and attentive, and he answered our questions and helped us decide on what to order. My only complaint about the restaurant was that the atmosphere was a bit confusing. It seems like an upscale restaurant but there is a TV playing sports and the kitchen is open, so you can hear the blender and all of the cooking while you eat. They were also playing music that had ads in between songs that made it a bit of a weird vibe. There were several open tables and they sat us right next to someone else instead of spacing us out. But I was able to overlook these things because the food was so good! read more

2.5 stars. I'm updating this review based on my recent visits, as my last couple of experiences haven't been great -- especially this most recent order. I ordered the chicken tikka biryani, paneer butter masala, butter chicken, bullet naan, and gulab jamun. Unfortunately, most of the food was disappointing. The naan was a little chewy, and the biryani tasted quite different from previous times I've ordered it. It didn't feel as flavorful or well-balanced as before, and the chicken wasn't cooked as well. The rice that came with the curries was underwhelming. Both curries also tasted sweeter than expected and didn't come together well flavor-wise. The paneer was hard, and the chicken pieces in the butter chicken were too large. The gulab jamun was the only item I really enjoyed. Overall, I was disappointed with this order, especially the curries, since I've had a better experience here before. read more

The ambiance is modern and inviting. From the outside, the restaurant looks quite spacious, but inside it only has a few tables. Since we didn't have a reservation, we were offered bar seating, which we agreed to. If you're planning to visit and prefer a table, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. We went during Seattle Restaurant Week, where they offered a $35 menu that included one appetizer, one entree, and one side. I chose the beetroot kebab as an appetizer and the veg curry kofta with garlic naan for the main and side respectively The staff seemed quite overwhelmed. We waited about 10 minutes just to place our order and another 10 minutes to receive the appetizer. The beetroot kebab was delicious and easily the highlight of the meal. However, the chicken starter was very dry. The Veg Curry kofta itself was good, but the curry was sweeter than expected. We also ordered butter chicken, which was similarly sweet, and both curries tasted almost identical it felt like the same base gravy with different additions (I know both the curries are on sweeter side but these two were way sweeter than I was expecting) The garlic naan was disappointing; it didn't taste like it had any garlic at all. The rice was the biggest letdown it was stiff and felt like leftover rice that had been sitting in the cooker. Please note if you're planning to go during the Seattle week and plan to order from their Seattle week menu the portion of the appetizer and entree is 50% less as compared to what you get in the full menu Overall, the service was slow and the staff seemed stretched thin. The restaurant can also get quite loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. If you're looking for a quiet dining experience, I would suggest avoiding this place. The only standout for me was the beetroot kebab. read more

Food was great, service was kind of slow but not bad at least. Will definitely come back for the food. We got chicken lababdar, goat biryani, goat curry, vadapav, mixed tandoori platter. I would totally come back just for the chicken lababdar and vadapav, which I'm told is just like the ones in Mumbai. read more

Amazing and just amazing food. The flavors were suttle but each dish had its own flavour. This new gem will give a tough competition to all super expensive low on quality restaurant . We ordered the following and everything was very very good particularly the beetroot, chaat, and black Dahl: Beet root kabab 5/5 amazing flavor in these little fried patties. Comes with 4. Samosa chaat 5/5 wow the flavors and different textures were soo yummy Butter chicken 4/5 usually my go to dish but wasn't the best here Black Dahl 4.5/5 one of my favorite dishes. So flavorful and creamy Baingan 4/5 a tad spicy and good but not as great as the Dahl! Overall I definitely would come back. read more

Me and my husband went for date night and we loved everything we tried. I loved the vibe we found parking right away which was surprising! Absolutely loved my experience at Aamrai. The place has such a nice fine-dine vibe--classy, comfortable, and perfect for a chill evening with good food and drinks. We started with the Chilli Mushroom, and honestly, it was so good--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The Kerala Chicken Fry was a standout for me--super flavorful and cooked just right. For the mains, the Chicken Korma was rich and comforting, and the Kadhai Baingan was surprisingly delicious with bold, well-balanced spices. Excellent Indian restaurant! They had items on the menu that my friends had only seen in larger city Indian restaurants. Good spice balance and something for everyone if you wanted more spice or less. The service was also impeccable! Two waiters helped us and both were so nice and helpful. We went on a 90 degree day and I was nervous about them not having AC but the restaurant was perfectly comfortable. The vibe of the place is also very cozy and welcoming. Had a great experience dining at this restaurant. We ordered lahsuni gobhi and paneer tikka for appetizers; both the dishes were very flavorful. For main course we ordered the veg baingan dabba which was amazing too. Fast service; very attentive staff. We had the cozy nook to ourself with great music playing . Such a fun new neighborhood spot! Interior was so cozy and chic, service was kind gave lots of recommendations and attentive, and the food was great! Came for a double date night ended up with the beetroot kebab, lamb kebab, Bombay vada pav, butter chicken, nagpuri saoji chicken rasa, rice and garlic naan. All delicious though for me the Bombay vada pav and nagpuri saoji chicken rasa stole the show. The butter chicken was sweeter than I've typically had but was a really nice alternative when paired with the nagpuri saoji chicken rasa which had a bit more spice to it. We also ended with the saffron tiramisu which was good but not as delicious as the mains and appetizers. Overall great spot to go for a good meal with kind people and a great ambiance! Only notes (which were completely understandable as they are new!) were they took all of our menus when we were done ordering initially, so we couldn't continue to peruse - including the drink menu. Which they didn't not ask if we wanted another round at any point or bring the menu back for us to consider more drinks. read more

Their Chicken Tikka Biryani was so good. Helpful staff and great ambience. But I appreciated even more their location. It's only a few minutes walk to Capitol Hill station and it's also served by pretty frequent buses close by. Felt like a proper neighborhood restaurant integrated with the city. Only suggestion would be to work with the city to have a bike rack installed nearby. read more

Really like trying new Indian restaurants, one of my favorite cuisines. Nice when they are near by. Sorry, no curried goat, so went with the butter chicken which very good. Bit more buttery than tomatoey seemed to me or perhaps they somehow decreased the tomato tang. I also had a side of the Lentil Bukhara, also very good though not quite as spicy as elsewhere. I chose the onion kulcha bread also good. I had a spicy tamarind guava cocktail rimmed with a peppery salt, very good. Ended up with a very good Gulub Jamun. Service was great, checked back several times and the setting very cozy. read more

Service is quite great here - came on a slow Sunday lunch and was seated immediately by waitstaff. The paneer tikki masala was pretty rich and maybe a little too sweet for my taste, but it wasn't terrible? The Samosa Chaat was quite good enough - definitely worth trying. Rice being extra $ to add is kind of weird - have been to few Indian places where rice is not included with the main entree. The naan was $16 for 4 pieces, which is normal but still lowkey kind of steep for what it is. Overall, for 2 people, we got 2x portions of naan, 1x entree, and 1x appetizer, and it came out to be $35/head after tax and tip. Not really sure when Indian food got that pricey but I probably would. not recommend this location if you are looking to get a bang for your buck. Food isn't that bad though, but it definitely isn't good enough for me to feel happy shelling out $30+ a head for stuff I can find elsewhere for $20. read more
