The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Thursday evening! We had a reservation so we were sat instantly. The interior of the restaurant was cute and vibey with lots of sunlight. I could see how it would be good for groups. The one thing I did not like was that it was way too hot in the restaurant, like uncomfortably hot. They needed the AC on. Between 4 people, we ordered 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 2 orders of naan. The entrees each came with a small portion of rice as well. The portions were quite generous so we had leftovers (enough for 2 meals). My favorite was the dal makhani with garlic naan. It was lentil based so it was kind of like a bean dip in texture. I also loved the malai kofta with rice. These were little potato/paneer balls in a thicker gravy. We were not fans of the paneer tikka masala as it was too sweet. This gravy was much more liquid. These 3 dishes all had distinct flavors, which is what we were aiming for to have some variety! If I came back, the only thing I would skip would be the paneer tikka masala. We also ordered the falooda for dessert. It was big enough to share between the 4 of us. This was my first time trying this dessert, and it was very unique. I have no idea how this place has less than 5 stars! I went on a trip to Seattle in Sept 2025 from South Florida and it is the best Indian food I have ever had. I am not a vegetarian and I can honestly say; I had vegetarian food with some new friends I made in the town and I can honestly say I didn't even miss the meat! This place absolutely tested my taste buds and brought flavors that made them feel like they flied to the moon! Hands down outstanding everything. I was craving Indian food and I happened to remember this place and went back to my old photos to see if I could figure out the name. The reason for the very very low score was that members of our group got food poisoning after, myself included. The dal makhani and palak paneer were VERY oily. Butter chicken wasn't bad, but it was a small portion for the price. Garlic naan was actually very tasty, but the aloo and paneer naans didn't have much filling. The ghee prawns were tasty. For desert, the daulut ki chaat and rasmalai were very tasty. The sizzling brownie was a stupid desert, the cast iron it comes in is heated up WAY too much and the chocolate and brownie ends up getting charred, which is both gross and unhealthy. This restaurant was clearly CHEATING the customers! I went there for dinner. When I got my reciept, I noticed that they calculated tax based on the price of food PLUS 10% mandatory service fee! I asked my server about it, the server said he could not do anything, so reciptionist dealt with it. He told me that "the restaurant knows about it", and "many customers have complained this problem". This made me even more angry: so they knew what they did, and they simply ignored the customers' complaint!? I asked him to give me a correct recipt as I cannot pay for it as it is a problematic bill, but he kept saying he couldn't until I said aloud that "you are cheating customers?". Even the couple who sat next to me laughed at him and shook their heads... Eventually they gave me some deductions, but the attitude of the reciptionist clearly indicated that they would keep doing so. You should be CAREFUL when dining in this restaurant. I went to Zaika with my friends this past weekend, and we had a great experience. We all tried their thalis. I got the non-veg thali while my friends chose the veg thali. Each thali came with three curries - For the non-veg thali, I got two chicken gravies - Butter chicken, saffron chicken, and a mutton gravy. The veg thali had Butter Paneer gravy, saag, and a mixed vegetable curry. Both the thalis also came with: Appetizer(Samosa), Dal, Rice, Roti and Dessert (Gulab Jamun) which were all really tasty and flavorful. 10 on 10. The food was delicious , and for the price, it felt like such a great value for the quality and taste. I also ordered a mocktail - Mango lemonade- It was so refreshing and delicious as well. The staff was super friendly and attentive, especially Anthony, who seated us and took our order with a smile, which added to the overall great experience. Stopped in for the Valentine's day tasting menu and was pleased overall. Each dish was very rich and well balanced, and the servers were attentive and accommodating. There were a few options for each course, with vegetarian options available. We went with all of the carnivore options and were very pleased with the quantity of food provided. The only note I had was that the dessert's presentation was pretty over-the-top and a bit lazy. A single piece of gold paper was set on top of the dish, seemingly for no reason. It really looked out of place and didn't add any semblance of sophistication. This place is so right next door to the Starbucks roastery. Upon entering we were seated at a very comfy couch and table. It was so cozy!! The food. I had the chili chicken 5 5/5 the taste was amazing. Could have been a little spicer for me, but I could have asked for that and will next time. We called to confirm, and they said they would take orders until 10:30 PM (I think). We were very pleased with the food. Service was very good as well. Our waiter Isaiah was very kind and helpful. I saw someone else post about a service charge that goes to the business, and they gave the restaurant a low rating because of it. We didn't know about it until we saw it on the bill--it wasn't mentioned beforehand, which felt a little strange. I'm not sure if it's their way of raising prices without changing the menu, but either way, it didn't take away from our experience. The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were just as warm. We had the chicken biryani--we were hungry but not looking for a huge meal so late, and that dish was perfect for the two of us. Zaika is a famous spot for Indian food in the Pike Street area. The food tastes really good. I tried butter chicken and the gravy was outstanding. I also had Bhindi Masala and that was pretty decent too. However given the ambience of this place, the restaurant is over priced. Because it's so pricey with a very average ambience, the place is definitely not a 5 star spot. Moreover the curries doesn't come with complimentary rice. That is a norm in USA for Indian restaurant. So you need to either get extra Basmati or Briyani rice. If this already doesn't add to your owes, the will impose a mandatory 18% service tax. And then expect a tip too. I am sorry with just two dishes with average quantity and a rice and bread and taxes - my check is already crossing $80+. Don't expect tip. There are more affordable Indian restaurant with better Food Safety Standards delivery same flavours that Zaika does. read more

Overall 1.5/5. Not really worth it! The food quality and staff service has been going down and down. Now they blatantly accept as well that they make to-go order differently than their dine-in orders. Food quality is not really good. We have ordered probably 3-4 times (all takeout) in last 6 months and each time we didn't like it. We have ordered multiple things - dal makhani (very dry, doesn't look fresh each time), paneer butter masala and shahi paneer (same stale taste, paneer very hard and looked even fake), okra (too oily, less okra more green peppers). Naans are the worst, they are generally older breads that they give in delivery/togo orders - garlic naan (very dry, pre-made and very stretchy), lachcha paratha (stretchy, not the real lachcha layers and not at all crispy), onion kulcha (premade frozen which they just heat up), butter naan (premade again and very dry). Everytime we ask them to make naans crispy and they never honor it. Infact once or twice they said that they can give us the burnt naans if we want, which to us seemed a little rude. We trued this place at our recent visit to Seattle. We got seated immediately and the restaurant was empty but took the waiter almost 15 mins to come and attend us. The food was innovative and tasty but I was disappointed with the drinks. I ordered sugar cane juice without ice and the amount of juice showed up in my cup for $12 was not acceptable (see pic ). On top of that a service fee added on our bill which I think was ridiculous because we did not see any other restaurants in Seattle add that so not sure why this restaurant did that. A really great spot for Indian food! Especially for their happy hour deals. I came right before the end of happy hour on a Wednesday, and there weren't many people inside. So, we were able to get seated immediately. We got the chili chicken to share, and I got the aloo tiki burger as my main. The chili chicken was AMAZING. Super spicy, but the flavor was absolutely amazing. I would definitely get it again. The aloo tiki burger was also delicious - two patties perfectly fried, with a delicious bun and sauce. The peri peri fries were also fantastic - well seasoned and crispy. Service was friendly as well, and relatively efficient. The food was absolutely amazing and beautifully presented, and the atmosphere is relaxed and great for dinner with a friend or group. We made a reservation for 5 PM on a weekday, and we were under the impression that they still did happy hour. We found that this was not the case when we arrived, although the happy hour menu was still posted outside. This was a bit disappointing , but we were happy to pivot to the normal menu. We got chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. We also both ordered chai, which was probably my favorite menu item. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess. The only bad thing I would say is that happy hour is only one hour, so not a lot of time to enjoy it to its fullest. We started with the cottage on the pond which was really good. I would recommend this as an appetizer to start with. To eat, I had the large plate: lamb pepper which I highly recommend. The portions for a large plate a very big so this can honestly be shared between 2 maybe three people. For a large entree it's only the meat that you're paying for and so if you want any sides it's an extra cost. Other than that the meat was really good and well cooked with lots of flavor. The ceiling is painted black so it was clearly either paint or insulation. We told the hostess we wanted to move and requested new waters. She noted the specs and said "oh, that happens sometimes." We had already finished our appetizer and the manager offered to make us a new one, when I really think it should have been comped for the massive inconvenience and health safety risk. Then when the bill came, there was a 10% service fee added that doesn't go to the waiters. This place is already priced high (butter chicken is $26 and doesn't even come with rice) and I did not feel that the 10% fee was stated clearly enough on the menu, as has been stated in a reply to an early review by the owner. Reservations are available and their website is very nice. Apart from their happy hour menu, they have 2 menus, traditional and non-traditional. Entrées start at $24. My friend and I tried Zaika special burgers with peri peri fries and enjoyed them. Their smoked chili-mayo sauce was spicy! My aloo tikki patties kept their crunch nicely. We split a garlic naan (large, buttered, crunchy on the edges) and their kale chaat, which for me was the star of the show. I'd never tasted anything like it before! This deep-fried superfood was complex, savory and extremely crunchy and the dates and tamarind gave every bite a delicately tart sweetness. An interesting and delicious shareable. They charge 18% tip to everyone to ensure the service quality , so keep that in mind. Great location in cap hill, right next to rumba. Parking can be hard to find around, though there is a paid parking lot right across the restaurant. Overall, zaika gets 5 star from me for their quality, taste of food and service!
