Lori, my girl in the bakery! She hooked it up with the most delicious custom made chocolate cake with strawberry filling and cream cheese frosting I could have asked for! She was so pleasant and generous with her time. I can't thank her enough because I was able to give my father one of the best birthdays! She was able to make this cake for me last minute, she didn't have to but I appreciate her so much. Someone give this girl a raise!! read more

I used to frequent this store when I lived in the area. It is always nice and clean, well organized and the staff is very friendly. Some of the staff even remember me when I swung in here after it had been almost 8 months since I moved away, the people who work here are great. I've shopped here for 5 years now. No real complaints! Lots of nice carts, very clean store. You have to know how to shop Safeway -- use their "Just 4 U" discounts and gas station, watch weekly sales, use the pharmacy and really well stocked deli. Admittedly, they are expensive if what you're buying isn't on sale or Just4U. For non-sale bulk stuff, you can't beat Winco in Folsom. But for "Shoot, I'm out of milk, bread, or need a birthday cake, etc", Safeway is the place. I find the employees to be very friendly. 5 years--not one rude interaction. read more

Buyer beware...their bottled water is on pallets outside the store directly in the sun! We've been told not to drink bottled water that is in left in cars because of the plastic bottles yet a grocery chain is doing this. What else are they doing that we should worry about? read more

The store is ok but they are slow to bag and get you through checkout. Lots of talking and not enough baggers or checkers. Wouldn't mind the higher prices if they were quick and didn't have to bag my own groceries. Save mart across the street is much quicker and generally cheaper. read more

I usually wind up grocery shoppng at this Safeway because of the gas rewards and the onsite gas station. The employees are friendly especially the cashiers and produce. However, I'm not crazy about the new tiered pricing, where if you buy X amount the each price is higher, but if you buy X more the each prices are lower. The produce section and meat sections are well kept and have more variety than Savemart (probably due to more space), but I often find lower pricing at Savemart, depending on the ad and the items I'm looking for. The deli dept makes really good sandwiches, as fine as any place we have tried and I think we prefer the Safeway deli sanwhiches to Raleys, though I'm not sure why exactly, maybe the toppings are of a different quality? I will say that the bakery at the Safeway in Cameron Park seems to have more selection, but that could just be a conincidence based on the days I happen to stop and shop at whichever the location. Due to inflation of grocery prices, I pretty much shop the chain that has the most appealing ads and coupons in any given week, but more often than not I find myself at Safeway instead on Raleys (usually higher prices) or Savemart (less selection), I just wish Safeway would get back to basics and keep their price points simple. read more

Overpriced, & you must participate in rewards, & extra secret (meaning you must use a computer or cell phone app to select products) rewards to get decent prices. Never enough clerks at checkout, & specialty counters either. This store is an obvious example of how large business controls costs: Cut staff, and ask those that are left to do the work of 5 people. read more

HM... got a deli sandwich saturday... by that night I was puking constantly. All I can think about is flashbacks of the sandwich maker without gloves.. and not washing between sandwiches! should have known better than to go here. Its the only thing I ate out in the past week...Its Tuesday and still sick. avoid deli at all costs. Not to mention took 20 plus minutes for them to make it. pretty sad what some hand washing and gloves could have prevented!!! read more

I shopped here today. I brought my own bag and had just enough groceries to fit in my one bag. The customer behind me asked the checker, (who was a lady who was probably in her 60's with bleached blonde hair with bangs pulled back in a pony tail. Don't remember her name, unfortunately), "Where's the bag boys?" She said, "I don't know and don't care because I didn't sign up to be both." Then she continued to "stare" at me as if to say you have to bag your own groceries. She continued to compliment me on how fast I was. Really??????? I shop at your business? Pay your prices? And you are only good enough to check my purchases and take my money in order to get your paycheck, but not good enough to bag my one grocery bag? The next time I go there I will make a point of getting your name and personally report you to management and I will not check out in your line. read more

Parking lot is disgustingly dirty! The store is ALWAYS out of disinfecting wipes to clean your shopping cart, and when you ask an employee for some they are stumped as to what to do. I have brought this up to the manager he was less than interested, and responded by saying "we are a busy store"! Adios Safeway, hello Raleys! read more

Clean and new store, but very poor customer service (repeated times.) The older, frosted blonde lady with glasses that I always manage to get in the self check out is the rudest. Seems miserable and clearly does not like her job. My husband who is soo happy and kind all the time, even commented 1 time when we were checking out "Boy, they are rude here." and that's not like him. I can't count how many times I have gone in late or perhaps really early in the morning and there "He" is, never a smile and that same crusty attitude that shouts, " you are bothering me." One night I had car trouble and went in to ask if I could use the phone to call a cab. I know the guy recognizes me because I have been in too many times, and endured too many offensive looks and grunts that he's being interrupted for him to possibly not know that I am not homeless and loitering. He blurted out what to do to get an outside line. I guess I didn't get it because the usual "pick a line and dial nine" didn't work. I went back and he said " I don't know what to tell you." I was stuck there at about 2:30 am and didn't want to approach him again due to such hostility. Finally after 3 and 1/2 hours and couple of rejections from other patrons to use their phones, I went back into the Lion's Den. I swear to God, he threw his little price gun or whatever he had in his hand down, jumped up with more vigor than I have ever seen from him, and charged toward me angrily over to the phone and picked up the phone to call and realized I needed a cab so it wasn't that easy. It wasn't that I was afraid of him but rather afraid that he would push me too far. I started in and finally he loosened up and got me a cab. I am never dressed less than top notch. I do not look like anything less than a well maintained woman in her mid Forties but am much older. And no one should be treated like that: let alone a woman, late at night forced to wonder around trying to stay warm just because this A-Rate A**#@^% doesn't want to be bothered to do his job and be somewhat bearable. I would fire this kreep. When I am forced to go in there and deal with him, I am now always borderline rude. I have tried everything else and I will never forget how easy it would have been for him to spend 2 minutes helping me and a lot of things would have gone better besides not hanging out for 3 and 1/2 hours at Safeway in the middle of the night. Ok so i normally go to safeway after work because its the only damn store left opened. Every time i go there there is only one cahsier for the night. they take forever to bring another one up, Plus they are slow. I asked the cashier if i could get a pack of marlboro 100's her bag lady went and got me a pack of marlboro light 100's i spoke out and said, i ddint say marlboro light 100's i want marlboro 100's the girl looks at me then goes get the one i want. its like seriously how dumb are you. I shop here every time because not ony is it the only store opened by the time i get off work but the quality of food they have. It just irritates me after doing a hard days work and you have to deal with one more thing irritating you for the end of the day im sick of it ...... read more

The store manager Kari is amazing. I had ordered 2 trays of sandwiches from the deli and custom cupcakes 1 week prior to my sons 4th birthday party. Upon arriving there to pick up my items I was told the deli had not made them due to people calling in sick. They quickly went to work making them. I then went over to the bakery to pick up the cupcakes, not only were they completely wrong there wasn't the amount I ordered. At this point I am not happy. I ask to talk to the store manager , Kari comes over and apologizes and asks us what she can do. She not only hand mixed new frosting for the cupcakes she added in an extra dozen plus a special one for my son with Optimus prime on top!!! I was given 3 different salads from the deli , 2 HUGE trays of sandwiches, all my cupcakes and ice all for free! Kati not only made it right she went above and beyond!!!
