Smaller establishments make for great stops For the size the it's a huge variety of items. One line can take awhile when everyone is in a rush however they called for another cashier. Have a little patience and you'll be great. The cashiers were kind especially the older gentleman that helped me out. On my way to a memorial for a cousin who lost their life to cancer: Although we had one lady who cut myself and four people behind me everyone was kind about it. See etiquette for lines is to wait for opening so we don't block the walk way. However Karen wanted to walk through us waiting to cut us. I politely told her maam we are all in line with one item at that and she has a basket not a hand one but a cart you push with tons of items. Her leaving her house last minute to be late does not mean It's ok to cut everyone in line. I went next looked behind me and see she has decided to still cut the others two young teens that didn't want to stick up for themselves I want you to know to next time please don't allow someone to cut you. We are equal now if she's elderly and all let her go ahead yes but when someone is downright stealing your place in line that's okay I got fruit for $6 but it was a little frozen cold so it was a little older tasting but for all of this to be handled well I up'd the stars. read more

I've been coming here over 20 years. I come because the employees are the best and there doesn't seem to be much turnover. Most of them recognize me by now. I've never had a long wait to checkout except maybe before a holiday. Even then it wasn't that long. I wish they could get a little better produce but that would of course affect the price. Also the parking lot here is a whole lot easier to deal with than across the street! read more

I used to love coming here especially in 2018 when we first moved to the area because of the employees, who were so kind and willing to do anything for the customer. Fast forward to 2020... complete difference and I cannot figure out what happened. Every employee looks miserable, is not friendly and unhelpful. It drags down the energy in the store when you can't even ask for assistance without getting an eye roll or the feeling like you are bothering them. Most upsetting is Juan. He clearly sees lines backing up and he will hand pick the person he wants to check out, rather than those who are already waiting in line. It's disturbing, as it's usually only very young girls he can flirt with. Needless to say, I'll stick with Safeway and Raleys. I wouldn't come here unless it's dire. read more

It is what they call themselves, a mart that saves. The bathrooms are always nice. I've had to stop and run in a couple of times and they were always clean. But the service, oh, the service, one man stopped what he was going to go work on to point out a sale on energy drinks to me when I was just about to buy some that very day. He said to wait until tomorrow because the sale was SO good! I respect that man. read more

I haven't been in here in awhile and now I know why. They never have anything i need, half the shelves were empty, barely any gluten free stuff, no bakery, no deli, no meat butchers, not a lot of organic produce. Even though they had a recent facelift, I still felt like it was dirty in there. Also nobody was social distancing or wearing masks(we're in a pandemic still folks). I felt unsafe grocery shopping here which is weird because I'm always comfortable grocery shopping. If you like Save Mart, go to the one on Missouri Flat, so much better. They have large quantities of everything there. And it's cleaner. Won't be coming here anymore. read more

Did some shopping here, at checkout they asked if I wanted a bag. I said sure I'll pay the $0.10 fee per plastic bag. Seems California passed a law to charge consumers hat amount to "save the environment". However, Save-Mart wants to gouge customers 2 1/2 times that. You want a paper bag? That'll be $0.10 then you gotta risk it ripping and not lasting. Be careful when pulling items out of refrigerated section, you'll be sticky because it seems the caps are loose on the various products and good luck washing your hands or wiping them there, no place to do that. Rub down store, lighting is horrible, nasty smell to it. Employees look miserable, cannot answer questions when they are pressed for reasoning or finding a product. Will NEVER shop at ANY Save-Mart again. I rather pay higher prices for products elsewhere and get friendly service and not get ripped off on what the law states. read more

i had a problem with the tweaked out meat cutter. As i am speaking to him explaining the type of event i was having he reaches into his smock and pulls out a towel and with the towel a glass pipe used for smoking meth falls to the floor shattering. He totally ignores the rest of what i was saying and preceded to pick up the pieces to his shattered meth pipe. needless to say i won't be going back to the meat counter there any time soon. read more

There is one check out clerk who is really really surly. I understand working that job you can get a little attitude, but she crosses the line well into rude. Today I got in the line of the nice older guy so I could avoid her but she kicked him off the register and made us all wait while she berated him. I was amazed at how unprofessional she was. I'd stopped shopping here more than a decade ago due to bad produce, dingy and out of date flooring and displays, poor selection and disgruntled employees. Recently, this store has undergone a face-lift with new lights and flooring, and bright displays. I thought this might signal an improvement in this store - I was disappointed. I purchased a pre-made salad. Even though the freshness date was five days away, the lettuce was slimy, brown and moldy. Same old SaveMart. Save your money and drive a little farther to any other store in Placerville - I know of I will. read more

SaveMart is a small store with limited selection, but it's right around the corner from my house. So, now that I have been going there for a couple years, I know exactly what they have. I usually go early morning to get coffee and/or creamer and the same sweet lady with the dark hair and glasses is there. I just love her!!!! The other day she was out sick and I was sad to not see her. :( all the employees are really nice there. I have seen some pretty rude customers and have seen the cashier handle the situation perfectly (better than I would have). Also, the manager is very kind and always asks if I found everything etc. My only wish is that they carry more organic foods, but they still get 5 stars because the store is always clean and organized. read more

It's cheaper than Safeway and they did a lot during the fires for the community. It's a smaller store and it isn't perfect but overall people are friendly and it's more local than Safeway. I will continue to use it when in central valey and NorCal as preferred cheap standard grocer. Deli isn't bad meats are good, and the bakery is better cakes than Safeway. The meats are a tad lacking but the seafood is very cheap and you can find beer six packs for under $4 discounts. I got a 12 pack of seltzer for $4.49 today! So I like it overall despite the cons people mention but it's a small family owned store so it happens. read more

Unfortunately it's close to my work. Fortunately there are other places to go that are only a few minutes further. I understand hating your job, but suck it up please like the rest of us do or have done and be NICE to people. It doesn't take tham much to say hello, and I can't tell you how many times I've not received this simple thing from the cashier. I WILL say that there is ONE cashier there (and I feel bad for forgetting her name) that is ALWAYS friendly and nice, and makes conversation. It's really disheartening to have issues at the only market near downtown Pville. I have had a few small issues in the past, but not things I would consider writing a negative review over, until yesterday. I stopped by the store for a few things and as soon as I walk in I can see there's a long line of people at the checkout stand and someone calling over the speaker for a checker. I got my items and got in line only to find the checker talking to the current customer and going quite slow in the process, like unreasonably so. The lady in front of me had a full basket, and there were two people behind me. The checker proceeds to chatter away until all of the customer's items were rung up, then chatted some more before finally moving around to the end of the stand to FINALLY start the bagging process (something normally done AS you ring in items, when a bagger is unavailable and you have a long line forming at your check stand). Meanwhile, the only other checkstand that is open also has several people in line, only they have the luxury of a bagger to stand there and help move the line along. But, the bagger then pulls out her phone to take a call, which she does just outside the entry doors, so I can see her in plain view (so classy!) Fortunately for the other checkstand's customers it's a short call and they get the luxury of having a bagger and thereby a faster checkout experience, once again. Meanwhile, the customer in my line has moved on and the lady in front of me (who brought her own bags, the first person purchased paper bags) has begun to bag her own groceries, thereby speeding up the process, since the checker was aloof to just how frustrating it is to stand in a line unnecessarily. Finally, she springs back to life and calls for a checker (who never appears, even after several more minutes, and an additional call out over the speaker).. I'd like to point out that I regularly allow others to cut in front of me at the grocery store and am not often in a rush. But, this day I had a scheduled appointment and wasn't expecting what should have been a 10-minute grocery store stop to turn into 20+. The moral of this story, for me, is that the checker with the black hair and the blue eyeshadow should be retrained to spot when it's time to stop yacking with the locals, there's a time for chit-chat, but not when you have a line of people wanting to get on with their day. She also should be trained on bagging groceries AS she scans them, it's not a challenging task actually. Also, how about a couple more people on hand to bag or check during the times when, as they say in their store, "three's a crowd"? For me, this is the last time I am going to tolerate this type of behavior, save mart may be convenient, but there are 3 other larger grocery stores in this area, and I'm happy to drive a few extra minutes to be treated as if my time matters. read more

Wow! Sorry to be a pest to you Sidney! As a employee was coming out of the back I asked where the tampons could be. I think this is about my second or third time into the location. Instead as of just telling me the location or isle number she pointed over to the meat area and stated there is a button I could push to ring for a help from the meat department she was on break. Really?!? I understand going on a break but you could tell me all about this button in the meat area but not tell me what isle for a box of tampons?!? Such a disappoint. Thankfully Sherry was able to have someone grab me a box while I was in line. Thank you Sherry for your help. Unfortunately it's people like Sidney who make me not want to shop here. read more

Would somebody tell the clerk with the dark hair, glasses and all the eyeshadow to shut the heck up and do her job? She often has the only open register (another problem) and seems to have long conversations no matter how long the line is. Very inconsiderate of customers time! This store is long overdue for a remodel and expansion. It looks like a store from the 1950's and has very limited options. I usually drive several miles to the Save Mart on Missouri Flat Road for better service and selection. Seriously, that one clerk keeps me away. The people there working were very sociable, kind, and helpful right as you walk into the store doors. I was walking in to buy a quick snack of candy, and when I went to check out the lady asked how I was doing and we talked for a nice short time. She then informed me that a couple feet away there were still discounted Easter candy that I could get for a better price, so we walked and talked together while she showed me the candy that I was able to buy two bags for the price of one. So she saved me money and wished me the best of luck. Would recommend 10/10. read more
