Placerville Natural Food Co-Op is a petite version of the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op--SWEET!!!!!
Shirley M. F.

1/10/2019: Alright, alright! "Ms. Bumbling Around London UK" wasn't advantageous at the very end of my trip due to the following reasons: 1. I contracted walking pneumonia from a Bloke riding Bus #205 to Paddington Station (The Bloke disembarked at Marylebone Hospital's ER-DOH!) on the way to Heathrow International Airport. 2. At the TSA FRISKING AREA located at Heathrow International Airport: My checked-in Fliek luggage, Tumi handcarry, and Pacsafe Metro Backpack were rifled, rummaged through by the TSA Agents! I searched for my shopping ID Cards in my wallet, backpack, and Tumi handcarry- - -GONE! Waaaah!!!!! I tried going back to the TSA BUT, the TSA Agents wouldn't allow me retrieving my ID Cards! As a result of losing my ID Cards, a chaotic fiasco ensued upon arriving home . . . I couldn't receive my Co-Op 10% Discount after I filled my shopping cart full of organic groceries due to two mishaps: 1. Losing my Co-Op Membership at LHR didn't help at all 2. My phone numbers were transposed incorrectly via Placerville Co-Op's database for their cash registers despite, paying $300.00 for my Co-Op Membership Fee DOH! Cashier, Sera relayed a message to Manager, Victoria who sent me an E-Mail message on 1/11/2019 stating she'd rectify my 10% discount conundrum and send me a replacement ID Card! Waaaah~Sera called me a couple of hours later stating the Co-Op authorized giving me a 10% refund so, stop by and pick up your refund . . . WHOA~So Awesome! WAAAAAH~Thank you so very much for rectifying my lost ID Card conundrum by refunding my 10% discount I should have received on 1/10/2019 and soon, mailing me a new Co-Op ID Card as well!

Out front

What a cool little store. I worked in a major supermarket all of my adult life and thoroughly enjoyed this gem. Produce kind of skimpy and some great prices, others not so much. The sandwiches were fantastic and a good deal. Will be great for those little day excursions for the ice chest. Nice little selection of craft beer cans I saw and some great cheese selections. Loved the variety of quick grab and go deli foods.

Entrance is facing the parking lot. The lot is shared with the self serve car wash.

Who would have thunk it that little ole Placerville has a food co-op? But they do and it is quite impressive. Well anyway, I was impressed on my first visit. I have been to the downtown Sacramento and Davis food co-ops. So on comparison to those...I was impressed. Right off the bat, I noticed that the parking lot has covered parking with solar panels. How green is that!? Plus the building itself has solar panels. Great! The inside footprint is compact but stocks quite a lot of inventory. They have a salad bar, deli area for made to order food item and fresh pressed juices, organic produce section, bulk foods-grains/nuts/legumes/herbs/spices/teas, snacks, bread, cereals, herbal supplements, homeopathic medicine, personal hygiene products, and makeup...and so much more. I was looking for a particular homeopathic product. The staff helped me search for the product on the shelf and in the back stock. They didn't find it. They even offered to call me back the following day after checking with their manager. Awesome customer service. Great follow through. Friendly bunch.

Love how small this place is, yet it had everything I needed. I think all stores should be this size. Everyone was very nice and helpful.

Our first stop was Boa Vista, where we headed straight to the pumpkin patch. There were so many pumpkins in different shapes and sizes! Prices ranged from about $8 to $20, depending on the size you choose. There are also little shops across the street and a BBQ spot right across from the pumpkin patch. From Boa Vista, we drove about a mile to High Hill. High Hill is bigger and has even more little vendors to explore. There's a pony ride for the kids, a pond where you can fish or simply sit back and relax, a fudge factory, and shops selling beer and cider. Of course, we couldn't leave without treating ourselves to some goodies! My husband got a slice of apple pie, and I got a cinnamon donut. Both were delicious! The entire area smelled like cinnamon and apples, which instantly reminded us that fall is finally here. The weather was absolutely perfect, with crisp air and everyone dressed in their favorite fall outfits. It was such a beautiful day to walk around, enjoy the scenery, and make memories with our corgi. We were lucky enough to find parking at both locations, but I highly recommend coming early! After 11 a.m., the traffic was terrible, and parking spots became hard to find. If you haven't visited Apple Hill, I definitely recommend adding Boa Vista and High Hill to your fall bucket list. Whether you're going for the pumpkins, delicious treats, little shops, or just to enjoy the fall atmosphere, there's something for everyone. And if you have a furry friend, it can be a fun outing for them, too!

My mom's here from out of town and she was so excited to pick out her own apples, pears, potatoes, etc. But when we got home and actually tried the apples and the pears, they were terrible. The texture is what I would describe as pithy. And two of the apples, even though they looked good on the outside when we cut them open, were totally rotten. What a bummer. The potatoes were fine, nothing super exciting. Not sure I would go back to this farm stand, although I would not be opposed to visiting the Orchard. Maybe a little bit earlier in the season would be better.

It is a simpler, smaller, compact farmers market compared to Sacramento Downtown or Midtown. It had a nice variety of vendors. The Saturday I dropped by, they were selling produce, frozen fish, flowers, plants, nuts, baked goods, breads, kettle corn, artisan soap, honey, and jewelry. Some of the vendors were... Thao Ranch of Galt, CA: This small family run farm sells fresh produce. Some of the offerings were fresh dill, sweet snap peas, carrots, red onions, squash, leeks, beets, chard... some other items I can not remember off hand. The produce looked all so beautiful and were vibrantly colored. The carrots, beets, and onions still had their green tops on. Fresh. Plus they sold flowers. Beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers $12-15. Huge full gorgeous bouquets. Professional looking. Grateful Bread of Fair Oaks, CA: I was ecstatic to see their booth. I use to live near the bakery (an actual bakery where they made the goods right in the shop). I would drive or bike on over, my faves were the muesli bread and olive n feta cheese loaf. They have some of the best bread I have ever eaten... mmm. They were selling baguette (sourdough and French), cinnamon raisin bread, jalapeño n cheese bread, muesli bread, slider rolls, dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, banana nut loaf, burger buns, ciabatta rolls, cookies (chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin) and a bunch more. These are all fresh made and not chuck full of preservatives like store shelf bread. I bought a bag of a dozen slider buns $5. Chick's Kettle Corn: Good stuff. Fresh made kettle corn straight from the kettle. He makes it earlier in the day and bags it. I bought a small bag $6. Nature's Nuts: The owner sources the nuts from Ripon and Modesto farms. I spoke to him for a bit. He is quite engaging and quite knowledgeable about nuts (nutritional value, storage, flavoring). No BSing. He sold walnuts, almonds, and pistachios in the shell sold unflavored or flavored. I bought a bag of 8 oz honey smoked almonds. Yum! I was able to sample. The walnuts were so fresh and had an excellent sweet earthy taste. Pat's Pastries: Home based business selling baked goods. Irish soda bread, whole grain bread, chive n cheese biscuits, zucchini pineapple bread, pumpkin ginger bread, gluten free pound cake and zucchini bread... were just some of her offerings. Malik Brothers: They sell various flavors of papadum, chips, rotis, and naan. Each come in a variety of flavors. Roti is a flatbread, made from stoneground whole wheat, originating from India. Ruby's Ranch: They are a farmstead selling all organic produce. Their booth sold a variety of lettuce. It looked all so fresh and vibrant. Safe to say, we had ourselves a blast!…read more We didn't stay long this specific Apple Hill Ranch was one that people posted most of. So of course, we had to check it out on our way to Delfino Farm. We don't have kids so that's not an experience I can provide any insight on. However, we did bring our dog and a fun fact is that all of the Apple Hill Farms are dog friendly! Parking wasn't too bad although a bit dusty. There's a small pumpkin patch where you can peruse, take pictures, and even purchase pumpkins. They have a cute backdrop in the front of the pumpkin patch and an even cuter one in the back. In the back of the farm, there is a small petting zoo with a highland cow which is the cutest. They also have a large grass area with lawn games. On the weekends, they open up a farmers market type area. It was open on the Friday we went, which was nice, but not all of the booths are open. Apart from the pumpkin patch and Photo Booth there wasn't much for us to do with our dog. Some of the other Apple Hill Farms have small trails, General store, bakery, etc...

Plus I gotta mention that they have no plumbed restrooms, they have porta toilets and portable handwashing stations. Not a deal breaker for me. Just letting y'all know.
