Raleys used to have a reputation as a higher end grocery store. Well seems the placerville store is dragging down that reputation. Been going there for several years and I keep hoping it will improve but it seems to get worse. Prices are higher on most items. On Sale items are never in stock (especially eggs and meat products) Mens bathroom is always filthy Self checkout terminals are useless Checkout lines are long Fresh veggies are old and stale Stupid Digital Savings program worthless and usually inaccurate. I have to double check my receipts every time and often find errors. Register systems are impossible to read to verify advertised discounts. I heard that they changed managers but I see no improvement and I don't think I have ever seen a manager. Would think that managing this type of store would require walking around once in a while and checking on departments, bathrooms, etc but I have never seen a manager here and it shows. Too bad...a good way to go out of business. The new Grocery Outlet store up the street may wake you up. Not as fancy but I get most of my grocery's there now and I walk out feeling like I haven't been taken advantage of. read more

I wanted a $16.99 foot long. This is the normal price at any Raley's and it's the advertised price on the giant sign above the deli. Placerville Raley's refused to sell me a sandwich for the advertised price and instead said that I had to buy two 6 inch sandwiches for $9.99 each! I complained and was told that the new manger was "making some changes". I'm making some changes as well, I'll never shop here again! read more

This review is actually for Peet's coffee within the Raley's supermarket. Although, a bit of Raley's is thrown in, too. Looking for coffee, I found this location on Google maps, and although i would have preferred an independent coffee shop, this sufficed and satisfied the need. Located right off the entrance, I scanned the board and ordered a medium 'The Black Tie' iced drink. The barista was very helpful and explained in detail the nuances of the Peet's drink menu. The drink was well made, rich, and quite refreshing. There's adequate seating, but the place can be a bit cleaner. What's interesting about the store is that it's the very first Raley's from the 1930s, and there's a mural in the coffee area commemorating it. How cool is that? So, not a bad stop for a quick coffee. read more

Was traveling from out of town and needed something to eat when fast food wasn't an option. Nice and clean, this supermarket had a lot of pre-made sandwiches and items ready-to-eat. I'm not talking about those instant salads. They have custom sandwiches and salads that can suit any taste. The choices had me satisfied! read more

I was told by one of my residents (apartment) about her experience. She is elderly and was shopping at raileys in Placerville Ca.with the assistance of a care provider who had collapsed at the store and had to be transported to the hospital. This left her without the ability to get home. One of the employees ( i wish i knew her name) took her lunch time and drove her home.....WOW...talk about customer service. read more

Bathrooms are filthy every time I use them. The urinal stinks and the actual toilet area is disgusting. On one occasion I had to say something to cashier as there was excrement all over the toilet itself. Graffiti on the door and the sink is so dirty I feel Im actually making my hands dirtier using it. I have been in cleaner gas station toilets and what makes this even more repulsive is that this is a food store. I know you have issues with homeless but that is no excuse - you can tell noone is even bothering to keep it clean...makes you think about how other parts of the store are cleaned. read more

I haven't been here in years! I don't know when they did it, but the remodel is beautiful! We came in late for snacks, to stay awake for the rest of the drive. I had no knowledge of the remodel they did. As soon as we walked in, I just said, "Wow! This is nothing like I remember!" They did a great job! It was late when we came in, despite that, the cashiers were still very friendly! To be honest, the only reason we decided to stop by, was because In-N-Out had 22 cars in line.... They were easy to find they were open and friendly and priced reasonable. Deli Ordered two sandwiches, each with a different type of meat, both avocado (not really avocado) both of the sandwiches presented well but darn it that day old tasting spread ruined them both. The employees don't appear to be happy or very friendly. The bakery is helpful to a degree but not pleasant. The meat counter guys no longer go above and beyond. Julie at the register is down right rude. I needed help on the self check out, but before she could help me she finished cleaning two additional self check out stands. When she decided to help me she was extremely dismissive. Hmmm...are the employees the reflection of their management??? Disappointing! SMH! read more

Raley's refuses to enforce the mask mandate. They don't want to upset their non-mask wearing shoppers who may cause a scene. I will spend my money with Safeway's (feee) eCart OR at Costco where they ensure the safety of all their shoppers. read more

The lines at this location are outrageous. When the cashiers open new lanes, they don't take people from the next line over. They let customers who haven't been waiting, cut in line in front of everyone, who's been waiting ten or more minutes. Really frustrating when you have to wait another ten minutes in line, meanwhile the short cutters go straight to the front of the line of the next available cashier. read more

I bounce back and forth between the Raley's in Placerville and the Bel Air in Cameron Park. Both have great staff and good selections. But the Raley's is definitely my "go to" store. I have become addicted to the e-cart service, and the staff who help me are always helpful and polite, and always friendly. The few times (and I emphasize "few") there has been any problem with my order, the employees have never questioned my concern and have gone above and beyond to make it right. One time, one of the staff members even gave me a small container of ice cream, free, just to thank me for my loyalty! (The Bel Air is also great at e-service, but the Raley's staff have them beaten, hands down, on speed when I call and tell them I am outside.) On the occasions when I do wander the aisles, I rarely leave without what I was looking for (and usually with quite a bit more). I especially like the large selection of local goods. I also try to buy organic when I can, and I usually find what I am looking for, or something similar, when I walk through those doors. read more

Love Raley's. I come here every week, sometimes more than once a week, and it is SO MUCH BETTER than Safeway, or Savemart, or the other options in Pville. This store looks new, it is always clean, and most of the time the employees are also very friendly, which is so appreciated. I do find that they run out of things pretty frequently, especially in the produce section, but I'd be willing to bet that this is because their items are fresh and they have quick turnover. Their produce and meat are definitely superior in quality compared to the Placerville and Pollock Pines Safeway stores, but just be aware that the prices here reflect that. I hope they continue to expand their organic section, I love knowing that a lot of what I eat comes from/near where I live, and I am happy to pay a little more at a store that supports our community. read more

I've been a Raley's shopper for decades. Love the people that work there!! I went there yesterday, first time out in two weeks because of the quarantine. When I reached the check stand the woman checker was very apologetic when she told me I couldn't use my own bags because of the virus. I completely understood. She told me I could bag my groceries at my car if I wanted to use my bags or I could purchase either paper or plastic Raley's bags. The bags were .10 cents apiece. REALLY...?? SoI had to buy 5 bags. Not a huge expense, but in theses times of layoffs and furloughs Raley's is charging their customers for bags??? I went to Safeway this morning, expecting to have to buy bags again. I was delighted to discover that they are not charging their customers for bags!! After this experience I'll be shopping at Safeway more often. read more

When we first moved to Placerville we would go to Raley's after work almost daily, the Frontend Manager would always stop and talk and say good night which was nice, we felt like a part of the community, now with the new staff they don't interact with customers, they don't smile, and they spend more time talking with each other so when you need help you have to literally go up and say can you please acknowledge whatever your self checkout is doing. I know Customer service is a thankless job but you get what you put into it. I don't think the service justifies the prices anymore. read more

I am continually amazed by the long - and ever expanding - list of items I cannot find at this store! Many of those items, however, can often be found at the tiny little co-op down the street! Some examples of what I would expect to find here include Forager Cashewgurt (a cashew-based yogurt), Vega Protein Yogurt, Edensoy Soy Milk, Pocono's Cream of Buckwheat, French Green Lentils (I was initially looking for these in the bulk section, but then couldn't even find them pre-packaged), buckwheat groats (bulk or pre-packaged), millet, amaranth, teff, King Arthur's Gluten-free all-purpose flour, organic dried blueberries, Pacifica Low Sodium Vegetable Broth (another brand would have been fine, as long as it was organic, or at the very least, non-GMO verified - I believe they normally carry this, but were out of it when I was shopping yesterday), Lundberg Tamari with Seaweed Brown Rice Cakes (I couldn't even find a space for this one, and in my opinion, it's the only flavor worth carrying - it's fabulous with hummus!), and many, many others. And if I make a special request for them to start carrying an item, I can pretty much expect to be ignored. Nothing like spending half of my weekend running all over the Placerville area shopping for the items I need, often to the point where I have no time left for actually cooking anything. Grrrrr! As for what they do carry, I can expect the items to be randomly strewn throughout the store, rather than alongside similar items - guaranteeing that I will be spending even more of my already limited time hunting for things! Raley's - please get your act together and stop being average! I expect so much better from you! read more

We have been shopping at the Placerville Raley's for nearly 15 years and not only are their meats the best and freshest around, if they don't have what you're looking for, they will make every effort to get it for you! I bought a rotisserie turkey breast today for dinner something quick as we had to take our lil dog to the vet as he has bn sick all day. Anyway I put this in the oven to warm up I always pour the natural juices in tge container over the roast to keep it moist while warming. When I retreived it from the oven it had a 3" length somewhat curly dark hair strand in the bottom! Now I have long blonde hair n my husband who was no where near the kitchen has short silver hair so being it isnt ours what employee is working without a hair net when preparing food for the public- this is so disgusting!! read more

Their deli department are rockstars, I have gluten and dairy sensitivities and they are always so patient with all of my sandwhich customizations, and the older guy is HILARIOUS. The Rubicon trip tip sandwhich is bomb, and it's the only place around here I can get in and out without paying a few dollars extra for gluten free bread, $7.99 isn't a bad price at all nowadays. Some of the apples and oranges I regularly purchase are cheaper than Safeway, and they have a fantastic kombucha and juice selection, with deals to be found. Still just a 3, unfortunately. Most staff are wearing masks now, but please, managers, instruct your staff that masks have to cover their noses, too. I have never been treated so awful as I had Saturday night March 2nd, 2019!!! Had a very long work day, arrived around 10:30 pm, the only checker was a short, dark haired young man who yelled at me "Closing in 5 minutes!" Following me through out the store, deep sighs, throwing hands in the air. I ran through aisles desperately trying to be quick. Upon checkout both checker and bagger were very rude, eye rolling, deep sighs and throwing my groceries around. I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN!!! read more

We have been faithful customers of Raley's since 1976. We like there home delivery but are very disappointed with the in store shopping. Today we were there to buy a sale item listed in add. They were out and refused to give us a rain check. Though they say they are enforcing a mask policy the checker's mask only covered her mouth which she removed to talk. There was no indication the carts were being cleaned and hand sanitizer was non-existent. Though is may cost more, and is further to drive, I am taking my shopping business to Nugget market in EDH where the service and protection is their priority. read more

First lets talk about the remodel. They have pretty much blocked one the main entries to the store. So if someone is exiting the store with a cart the person coming in with a cart has to wait. This should be a fire code violation. Who ever is in charge of stocking the shelves, when there is a sale on a item it will probably have to be restocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE Raleys! I am always amazed by the hometown feel I always get when I come here. The checkers are always so nice! I love the guy in the meat department!! He is always telling me how to cook things just right! What's on sale and how to marinade. The produce is always fresh. (When I go to the other big chain in town I always get gnats) Today, being Christmas Eve, I was amazed to see the store manager working too! We camped at a festival at the El Dorado Fairgrounds and were so happy to have Raley's next door! The staff was so nice and the store immaculate. Each morning, the line of people at the in-store coffee shop was entertaining. The staff was so friendly. Thanks for your hospitality and all the time your staff put in to the awesome displays.
