I have been using both the pharmacy and store for 11 years now. Absolutely stellar customer service every single time. Sadly, I am a huge customer of the pharmacy on so many meds keeping me alive. I've been through 2 very serious surgeries in the past couple of years and I cannot possibly recommend the entire pharmacy staff enough, especially the head pharmacist Maureen. they are all unbelievably understaffed and overworked, yet.....so amazingly find a way to be accomodating, efficient, and come thru for me when needed. I love being signed up for home delivery of both in-store items or prescriptions! Delivery convenience is such a luxury to have when you are not able to easily get around. And how do they all maintain such a positive friendly outlook when so slammed with work day in and day out unrelenting being short staffed and so overworked? Really heroic examples we could all emulate. Being frugal due to so many medical bills, I find the store prices very reasonable and shop their sales. Some items usually stay out of stock, like my 2% milk not being a grocery store, but there are so many groceries to choose from. There is a grocery store closeby to do a food shop but I seldom can't find what I need in all departments so well stocked while there. Everyone is extremely courteous and kind I wouldn't even consider shopping elsewhere. This review took 11 years in the making. read more

The women there are ALL RUDE! Can't be bothered to answer your questions over the phone and drop the ball on calling your Drs office to get your refills processed. 3 days later I call the Dr and they have not heard from the pharmacy?! For the lady with the short curly hair that finally came up to the front after we stood around waiting and seeing no other workers besides the pharmacy, I sure hope that with your lack of willingness to help that cvs will not continue to lose customers and go out of business. To stand there and argue with me over returning an item through ups which I have done plenty of times before at this location. This CVS, is like most others with layout, etc. however, dirty! Floors were dirty, and it smelled musky dank in the building. The restroom was dirty, no paper towels and bricks on floor to use to ensure door/locked stays shut...? But wait, you have to get a key from the registrar person, wherever that person may be at the given moment. (4) of us in line with a gal checking out a man with his soda 12 packs and miscalculating the sale... stood in line for 10 min, then another gal opened the next register for me (next in line) when an old guy came up, cut right in front of me-literally. The gal let him... no worries, I've got all day, and respect for old guys who have hearing aids. Finally after another 5+ min my turn! Yea, won't be going to that CVS again. I cannot believe the stores discrimination. I've shopped with the pollock pines CVS for 20 years now and they have been great. Over the past year their team members have been harassing me. One of the assistant day managers follows me around like I'm going to steal. It's beyond insulting and I cannot imagine the embarrassment she must feel every time she checks the camera and sees I've NEVER STOLEN! The pst couple of weeks they have refused to honor their coupons on my phone extra care account because "I've been saving too much money." Shame on these people. I want to give the Cashier: Deanna an A+ very helpful, personnel, always smiling this town needs more like her! She was the only cashier, there wasn't anyone on the floor! I walked the whole store looking for help I needed help ! Poor Deanna didn't stress she had a line but she took care of all the customers in a very timely matter if if we did have to wait it wasn't her fault she needed help!!!! We have had wonderful customer service from the pharmacy. My husband had a special tier 4 prescription from Caremark Specialty. We were having a hard time getting the prescription filled. I called the manager of the pharmacy and asked for her help. It took her awhile to get back to us as she had been transferred several times. When she did call back, she gave us a phone number to call. From there, it was very simple. We got a live person and they were very apologetic for their screw-ups. After the prescription was delivered to Pollock, the next day, they called us immediately. NOW, THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

Overall it's ok as a general store though the quality of merchandise isn't great. It's relatively clean but there is room for improvement. Prices are not competitive - most times you can get a better deal at Safeway across the parking lot or at RiteAid if you are willing to go down to Placerville. It's real strengths are a wide selection of products and the fact that it's product base is specialized to cater to the local needs (elder care, camping and fishing licenses are a few examples). The real problem I have with CVS is their pharmacy which is supposed to be their forte. They don't answer their phones, they aren't willing to coordinate with healthcare providers, their prices are the highest in the region and their automated refill phone system is unreliable. The worst issue of them all: their employees are unwilling to step even the slightest bit out of their way to help. Case in point: My daughter was very ill so I took her to her physician who wrote a prescription for an antibiotic. By the time we got to CVS the docs office was closed. One item on the scrip was illegible so the pharm tech (in a very bored and uninterested manner) handed it back to me and informed me that I'd have to take it back to the doc to have it clarified. I pointed out that the office was closed and that it was important for my child to start the medication right away; I asked if the Pharmacist could call the on-call physician and get the clarification over the phone. They just looked at me for a full minute then let out a big sigh and said 'I suppose we can ask her if you absolutely insist'. I couldn't believe it - they acted as though I was being unreasonable. Then she passed the story on to the Pharmacist who rolled her eyes at me and told me she would do it but that she had to finish some scrips she was working on and take her lunch first! I'm supposed to sit around with a sick four year-old for over an hour because these people weren't willing to put their (sick) customers first. That was the last straw for me. I relocated all of my families' prescription business to the mom 'n pop establishment in downtown Placerville. (I'm so glad I did - they are the best pharmacy ever!) I used to patronize CVS at least once per week, now I might go there once every six weeks. I'll go anywhere else if I possibly can. read more

I love this CVS and it's pharmacy. The pharmacy staff know me fairly well since my family and I have been going there for years. They are always very accommodating and try to speed up the process or fix problems that occur. The store itself is also very nice. It's clean, big, and organized nicer than other CVS stores I've been in. The staff is great, a lot of younger ones working the counter, they are very polite and overall have great customer service. It's just nice to be pleasant with people. :) Safeway is the alternative and that sounds terrible for multiple reasons... CVS is a few minutes from my house and it's my go to spot. read more

There was a TON of fraud during COVID. So now, apparently, when you try to return an item (which I rarely do) CVS and other stores return the money to your debit card, even with a receipt and the item you want to return. Well, it has been three days (a week end) and the money is still not returned to my card. It's another of many chores for me to check my on line account, and call CVS to find out what is going on due to the fraud committed by others (friendly fraud). But my complaint is that I have been unable to get accurate information from the employees. At first I was told the money would be returned immediately (this was about 3:30 on a Friday). By Saturday it was not returned to the card and I was told 24-48 hours. The employee said if it was not returned it was the bank's issue and her exact words were "it happens ALL the time." So, CVS is apparently aware this is an issue and a problem. They take the money off the card immediately and yet here it is three days later (Sunday- 48 hours later) and the money is still not returned. So I call CVS and I get a new story- "it's the week end so it may take longer." Well what exactly is the correct information??? So now I will wait until Monday and see if the funds are returned. All because of friendly fraud, and this is not the first incident unrelated to CVS that the burden is on me to get money back owed to me due to criminal fraud I have not committed. read more

Pros: Frequent good deals on alcohol and soft drinks. Cons: Pricing on every day items is 20-50% higher than Safeway. Check the expiration date on sale items (even non-sale items). Lots of expired and near expired items on their shelves. Be mindful of the marked sale prices of what you buy. Too often they ring up higher at checkout. Most non food/drug items are of wal-mart quality. Had an issue with their pharmacy one night just before closing. Had a real need, but they were rigid, and not very accommodating. Since then, I've been much happier with Safeway. So I pretty much just come here to stock the bar, but not if I need ice as theirs is usually old, and mostly frost. read more

Stopped here on our way to camping to try to find a kettle to boil water and make hot chocolate. They had the chocolate and a camping kettle/coffee pot. An entire section on the back wall is dedicated to camping. I loved it! Went recently to my local CVS and sad to find out they catered to the area and hence no camping products section. Next time I'm up at Pollock Pines I'm stopping by again and getting a few more camping items. Also customer service is great. They helped me find the kettle and section. read more

There is also a discount section down the middle of the store with all sorts of neat things...we found a plastic mini LED lantern to hang in our tent for just $3.
