But doesn't bother to take rest of chaufa with her!! I did not care for this place like at all. And it is always packed which is so illogical to me because the food is mediocre at best and the place is a bit dingy. Portions are quite large but if the taste isn't there it just seems like a waste. I order take out one night, noodles and chicken. It was huge, but the flavors were off and I couldn't eat it my Fiancé who can eat anything ate it, and he seemed to love it. I like Peruvian so I assumed I order the wrong thing. My fiancé has eaten here a few times and he generally seems to like it though not after our dinning in experience. We decided to eat there over the weekend, it is down the road for us and we would have probably eaten here a bit, however not after our dinning in experience. We were seated quickly, as always the place was packed. The decor was dark but everything seemed clean the lights were just too low. Eating in the dark always bothers me. It was a bit loud but not unbearably loud. The waitress was ok. I understand she was super busy bc the place was packed but we did get stuck waiting for water and asking multiple times for things. I ordered a coke, they gave me a can it was 2.50$ for a can of coke... I find that outrageous. Also the prices in the menu all went up. I know this because they scratched out the previous price and wrote the new price next to it, so crazy. Everything on the menu was increased about 2$. I ordered the bread chicken... they fried it, wasn't expecting that. It tasted ok was a bit bland as in no seasoning, not even salt and pepper. It was a huge letdown. It had no sauce nothing, just rice and a simple salad yes with peas'... BUT NO SAUCES. That to me is cray cray. I then ordered heveria (sp) sauce the cheesy sauce... it tasted like the nacho cheese processed sauce you get a movie theaters... not the Peruvian spicy cheese sauce... oh and it was 4 $.... for a tablespoon I am not exageration Honest truth a tablespoon! My fiancé ordered the octopus it is his favorite thing (I think its gross) He gets it at every Peruvian place we go to and devours it. He took one bit and sent it back. He said it wasn't cooked well. Too fishy, chewy, and not cooked. He looked shocked and so sad about it. Oh and they still charged us half price for that, 7$ even though it was inedible we found that out after when we paid the bill, that to me is just a horrible business decision. He then ordered whole fried snapper. It was fine how can you mess that up? He seasoned it himself salt, pepper, lemon. He did comment that it was not cut well, and the man knows his fish, he pointed it out to me expecting me to know what was not great about it. But I do not eat fish so I can't describe why it wasn't great to you. Something about how it was cut effected the evenness of the cooking... fish people will know what he is talking about I'm sure. It was not a pleasant experience and one that will not be repeated by either of us. Literally up the block is another Su Vichie place and down the road Ceviche 105 cannot be beat. Super slow service. We weren't even seated. The server saw us sit down and didn't bring the menus until I started walking to the front. After deciding what to order, 5+ mins passed by unnoticed. I had to go to the counter to get the attention of a different server to order the food During the order we placed a to go order which took 20+ minutes after we finished our meal. The food here is really good. The meat is of high quality, excellently trimmed, and cooked to perfection. The sides are what you'd expect at a Peruvian place--variations on rice, potatoes, corn--and satisfying. Portions are enormous and great for sharing. The menu is large and has a little something for everyone, and the prices are okay. The staff are friendly and accommodating, even if they speak little or no English. Parking is difficult but I can live with that because I don't go to restaurants for the parking experience. I have to give Sabor a Peru the full five stars because it's an unexpectedly great little restaurant in a kind of gross neighborhood. The papa a la huancaina that is a potato with like a cheese sauce it's delicious, the ceviche amazing, also the seafood rice and the lomo saltado were so yummy!! In attempts to try as many restaurants from my country as possible - I gave this little restaurant the green light last weekend. The restaurant is quite small and quaint. Very casual but had a friendly feel to it. Ordered a Jalea and Tiradito. The Jalea doesn't merit much of a review. You could tell they use the frozen seafood packs for everything except the fish. I should have known given the price was $13 or so. I rather pay $18-25 for a jalea and get real fresh seafood. It wasn't horrible, but you can't fool a native. I give them most of the credit just for the Tiradito alone. The Aji Amarillo sauce was very flavorful and the portions were good for the price. I would go back just for ceviche or tiradito if I was in the area and had a craving. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to go eat there again. It's been several months since I moved from Miami, but I will still drool involuntarily at the mention of Sabor's lomo saltado dish. It's that good. Somehow even the rice is exceptional. I don't know what the secret is, but if you find out, please let me know! This little place is always busy, and the customer service is amazing. As a manager of one of Miami Beach's standout eateries, my entire 10 hour days and 6 hour work weeks are devoted to making sure guests not only receive a fulfilling meal...that's easy (so you would think, sometimes), but also a valued customer experience. But, part of the dining experience is also the fashion in which guests are treated, no matter who they are, a first-timer, regular, a suited up dude or a beach bum. Hell, the diner is the person who provides the service with their incomes and livelihood. So I've been to this spot on at least one occasion. Food is great, that I can attest. But the service is substandard. No one seems too enthusiastic taking an order. I see a lot of enthusiasm amongst staff closing out checks, racking dish ware, closing out checks, which is great but can anyone throw me a smile? An, "I'll be right with you." Or at the least, if you're going to pretend to not see me, can you not make the ever too popular Miami service rule of looking directly at me and quickly flinching your eyes in the opposite direction in the assumption of, "Someone else will come around and take care of him." No thank you when I submit the payment, no have a good day come again when I leave. If you come here, come solely for the food which is great. Peruvian is quickly become a favorite cuisine of mine. A friend and I hit up Sabor a Peru for lunch recently, and we were the first customers in the lunch rush. The menu is decently large - lots of ceviche and other seafood choices, and even a meat dish or two for those who don't do fish. They also offer a daily special for $6.99, and while I don't recall what it was the day we went, it wasn't intriguing to me. I ended up going with the chicharron de pescado, which turned out to be a huge plate loaded up with small pieces of fish, breaded and fried to perfection. Served with a simply dressed red onion salad, those awesome Peruvian corn kernels, and plenty of lime and tartar sauce, this is a steal for $13.99!! I barely made a dent in the plate, and there were at least 2 more meals to be had from there! I'm not a tartar sauce fan, so I opted to make liberal use of the spicy green sauce on the table for my fish. Yum! My friend ordered the fried filet of fish, which came with a side, and it too was huge! Awesome food, huge portions, good service, and free parking around the back. What's not to love?! read more

Absolutely memorable. I come here for my mother like chicken soup. It heals like no other... No Really I tell everyone to get their homemade chicken soup, it's filled with the love only mothers give to soup... But today I didn't go for soup, I was craving some Peruvian and decided to bring my whole family to try it out. Once we sat inside, it started pouring like it only pours in Miami, a homeless lady entered the restaurant, ashamed, wet, and cold. She approached the bar and requested to order food, the kind waitress realizing the situation said: "you don't need to pay us, we'll give you a meal. If you could just kindly wait out under the roof... I'll bring you something out." I was stunned by the kind gesture and just her whole humble approach to it. The lady sat outside like any regular guest, the waitress brought her a coke and even asked her what her choice of meal was. Considerate, humble and kind. I watched the whole thing without her even noticing. I thanked her for her kindness and inspired me to be as kind when I own my own business. Homelessness at times isn't a choice, it's a consequence we know nothing of, and if one tiny gesture like a meal can make the difference... Well why shouldn't we help each other. Sabor a Peru has always been a favorite, but now has earned an extra point for admiration and respect. 100 points for you guys! Very good Peruvian food. You have to try their Jalea platter which is a bunch of seafood fried. It included fish, octopus, shrimp, scallops, and clams. I've tried at other Peruvian restaurants and it's just fried and tasted meh. Their jalea is wonderful, not breaded too much, not very oily, and they season it so the fish and other seafood is very tasty. They compliment this with some sauce and offer other spicy sauces for dipping. I was not a fan of jalea but definitely go back with friends to share this platter. They offer Peruvian beer (la cusquena) so good and malty tasting. If you like natural juices they offer those as well, the mango one is very thick and not too sweet! A perfect smoothie if you're not hungry but joining your friend while they eat. All in all, I would recommended this place. It's always packed, always. My first time having a Peruvian food. Came with my friend as we're having visiting Miami. The food was spectacular. We both ordered the Bisteca a lo pobre. It comes with marinated steak, rice, beans, and plantains. The steak was amazingly marinated and the plantains super sweet. Unfortunately service was not great. Waiter only brought one of our orders out, because she thought we ordered one dish to share. Had to wait extra time for our food. Days later and I'm still drooling over this meal. We wandered in on a Sunday night after getting back from a long trip to Chicago, and it was fairly packed, but there was a table for us and we were seated right away. The Ceviche mixto was out of this world. Traditionally presented with sweet potato chunk and Peruvian corn, this was a full on meal. Not a tiny little "ceviche spoon" or a delicate appetizer. They don't serve it like that. It was about $15, and we also ordered another beef entree that was amazing. The two plates were both left cleaned, and we were quite full. But it was one of those delicious moments where you feel like leaving even a spec behind is disrespectful to the glory of the food. This place is fan-f*in-tastic. The food is spot on. I order the fish. Sauces are flavorful and not too greasy. The staff is helpful, friendly, and pretty quick. Best peruvian I've had. Like the rest of the biscayne-wynwood peruvian places it has a big menu. Sabor a Peru is a bit cheaper, and seems to have fresher fish. The ceviche comes in a copious quantity and isn't all creamy (or the one I got anyway). The soups are herby and aromatic, perfect. Don't get me wrong - the food here is great. If I could split my review I would absolutely give the food four stars and the service zero stars. Reason being is the service is nonexistant. I used to go here fairly regularly - up until recently I lived within walking distance. You'd walk in and sit down wherever, and sometimes a waitress would come up and ask for your drink order, but most of the time you'd be looking around after five minutes wondering how in this tiny space she could have avoided you for that long. You'd repeat this process as you waited for your drinks, food, check, etc. I don't think it would be so bad if they were genuinely that busy once or twice, but the service is consistently awful and the real reason is apathy. The wait staff try not to look at you, they don't care if your food is late or something is wrong or you need a refill. They sometimes bring bread to your table, but when they don't and you ask for some they look at you like you have two heads. If you don't care about awful service here are things I've had and highly recommended - Lomo (and Pollo) Saltado, Tallarin Verde con Bistec, and the classic Ceviche Mixto. Just traditional Peruvian dishes executed really well. BE AWARE!! they added tip to your bill and on the credit card they suggested more tip on top of total plus with the previous tip sum up. We order a plate and asked if we can replace one item, the waitress confirmed was fine. Then when the food arrived the item haven't been changed and when i asked why she told me, the kitchen refused to change. WTF!!! She should told me maybe i would exchange my order but my guess is ( i waited tables for a while and i know how business work) because she forgot to add on the computer when she sent the order. After hearing numerous praises for this place, my sister and I decided to check it out. Being Peruvian, and years of venturing Miami for authentic Peruvian food that can compare to our mom's cooking, allows us to differentiate between good Peruvian food and weird imitations of traditional dishes. This place resembles the latter. Upon walking in, we noticed decorations not uncommon in other Peruvian restaurants such as the indigenous textiles and "Te amo Peru" sign, but something didn't click... Yet, we didn't pay much attention to that and looked over the menu, instead. My sister ordered the chaufa de pollo (the Peruvian version of chicken fried rice), while I opted for a simpler steak with salad and rice. After waiting for about 15-20 minutes, the food came out and the first thing I noticed was my sister's reaction to the enormous mount of dark rice in front of her. Depending on the restaurant, there are multiple versions of chaufa de pollo, which can sometimes vary in color due to the amount of soy sauce used. The rice my sister ordered, however, seemed too dark, and it also lacked the color that's supposed to come with the plate in the form of chopped peppers and Chinese onion. She took a bite, and I could tell she didn't like it; but my sister's also a picky eater, so I had to try it to see if she was overreacting or not. She wasn't. The piece of chicken I got from her plate had a strange after taste to it, and I noticed a grayish color on another piece of chicken that she had half bitten. She couldn't finish it (who would?!), and ended up eating the remnants of my steak and rice. From my end, my food was average, which is why I gave the restaurant a two-star rating, instead of a one. The steak did not wow us in taste, and the salad came with sprinkled peas on it (why?), but I did like the accompanying rice that had a somewhat stick consistency to it that I enjoy. Needless to say, we will not be going back, but we also admit that it may have been one of those "I-ordered-the-wrong-thing-on-the-menu" instances. However, for those seeking tastier, authentic Peruvian food, make the extra drive to Ceviche 105 in Downtown Miami, especially since the prices are almost the same, just smaller portions at 105. read more

Peruvian food is one of those things that you just CRAVE. Decided to get carry-out at Sabor de Peru one night, hoping to stuff my face in the privacy of my home where no one would see me rabidly munch on ceviche and lomo salteado. This was already a mistake - after ordering to take-out at the restaurant, I drove to Target nearby, did a little shopping, and I still waited over 20 minutes when I came back to pick up my food. The lomo salteado (steak+fries+rice) was delicious as expected. The fries were drenched in sauce by the time I got home and yet they were not soggy at all which was nice. The seafood ceviche on the other hand... ehhh. We ordered it "spicy", and take note... they are not kidding when they say spicy. Halfway through it we had to stop eating it altogether. So be prepared if you order it this way. Overall, not the best Peruvian restaurant and the wait is a bit slow. However, they are open fairly late (11pm on weekdays for Downtown is pretty great) and parking is ample. If you eat inside, be prepared to be met by some very cool photography from Peru next to a TV displaying some hilariously bad merengue music videos. Sabor a Peru is not by any means a bad choice. There is better out there, but I can see myself coming back when the cravings hit again. read more

It's just my type of place. Clean, small, hole-in-the-wall type place that you'd pass if no one told you about it, with reasonable prices for OH MY GOD THE PLATE IS THE SIZE OF TEXAS servings. Food itself? Great. The date had a seafood soup thing and the bowl coulda served as a swimming pool for a family of ducks. In fact, I sorta wished he would have drowned in it. I picked vegetarian fried rice 'cause I didn't know what else to get. Never woulda thought a Peruvian place would make better Chinese food then...well...a Chinese restaurant. But the yellow rice just make it (no, I'm not Latina. But arroz amarillo ALWAYS trumps the plain white stuff). Service? Considering that this tiny place was stuffed to the doorjambs with hungry Latin folks (I may have a tan, but I'm pretty sure I was the whitest person there), the waitstaff did an amazing job. This is my favorite Peruvian restaurant in Miami. The food is always amazing and a lot of volume. I always get a mixed ceviche and a lomo saltado and for the price that you get, I really feel satisfied with the amount of food they give. If you order from them on Postmates, be sure to text the driver to be careful with the food as the food is juicy and can spill if your driver is not careful. One time I got my food spilled and called the restaurant to complain. The gentleman on the phone took his time to explain that this is an issue with postmate drivers and not them. I have been a few times as I live close by and each time I have been I have had poor customer service. It took forever to get drinks once we had ordered. Then once she had come back to take our final order, she stopped me half way through ordering walked away and started taking somebody else's order. It was a further 10 minutes until she came back to finish the order. The various times I've been I have had ceviche and Lomo Saltado. I know I am going to hear it after this review. But I just don't seem to be as in Love as everyone is about this place. All my friends rave about it. They even call it the one of the best Peruvian restaurants in Miami. Sorry, my friends I do not buy that! The place is so tiny, that one is trapped in there, they always have 2 waitresses for 15 + tables, therefore the service is slow, disoriented and forgetful. The people are really nice, but they have too many tables to serve that they forget your drink orders, or to check back on you. Well, to start they forget you are even there... The food is good, the portions are too Big. With one order of "Chaufa" 3 people can eat. Their ceviche is pretty good and their Lomo Saltado ranks high on my list. I find their menu items a bit expensive, but the portion makes up for the price I guess? I just cannot understand why they don't offer "Aji de Gallina" or "Causa" these two are must on the Menu of any Peruvian restaurant. My fiancee works close by this place and has been suggesting i try it. So i decided to join her there for lunch. I must say i was surprised of how good the food was considering i never heard of the place. I tried the ceviche, which was delicious. Comparing it to the one in Ceviche 105, i think this one takes the victory. We also shared a Chufa (pretty much peruvian fried rice with meat) and it was also really good. If your a fan of Peruvian it's a must try and if you're not, I would still try it. I was introduced to Peruvian by fiancee since i never thought they had anything to my liking. Outstanding Ceviche and Papa a la Huancaina. Those 2 with a Peruvian Beer came up to 24 bucks with tax. So for Under 30 bucks I had a huge lunch and enough to take home for dinner. The locale is nice, not too big, with enough waitresses, attention was quick and food came out quick too. Nice presentation of the food and quite tasty. Parking is behind the building, it took me 3 times to find it. There are several restaurants around so parking could be an issue, specially at lunch. Overall great experience, fresh and tasty seafood. I may have to upgrade this to 5 stars once I tried more plates. read more

Decided to go to sabor a Peru for lunch today. It was the best decision I made. I had the shrimp cocktail for appetizer. It was fresh and cold and delicious. For entree I had the sopas (aquadito de pollo), a cilantro rice chicken peas carrot soup which is packed with flavor and taste. It is a very hearty dish and now one of my favorites on the menu. While I enjoy their cerviches, nothing can come close to their sopas. This place is a Miami local favorite. A must stop for anyone out of town. read more
