Service good and friendly but the kind where they'll let you linger and won't bother you, but will get you something whenever you ask. I absolutely loved it, we had Pupusas de Frijol con queso y Revueltas, and they were delicious! i also got a chicken soup and was pretty tasty, Horchata and Jamaica were refreshing and the service was amazing. i had to chance to talk to the owner's daughter if i'm not mistaken and she gave a little trip to the past with the story of the origins of their parents back in El Salvador. and it allowed me enjoy the ambiance way more and feel the culture through my food. read more

We love finding authentic places to try good food. This hit the spot. Of course, we wanted to try multiple things on the menu. We started with the corn tamale. It was sweet and soft. By adding the sour cream, it softened the sweetness, which was very nice. We also had an empanada. It was perfectly crisp but not greasy. Came with a vinegar based slaw. For the main dishes, we order the special plate which had beef, chicken, pork chop, shrimp and sausage. All of it was really good. Came with two sides. We picked fried cheese and black beans with rice. All of the meat was cooked perfectly. Not overdone. And they all tasted different. For dessert, we ordered the flan. Our server asked if we wanted the 'cheese' one. I didn't know a cheese flan existed so we tried it. It had more of a cheesecake consistency with a flan taste. Very nice and not heavy. You can tell this is a local hangout. Lots of people laughing at the bar, many to go orders. We appreciated that the server and manager both checked on us, since we were definitely trying new things. I love this place. I'm a gringo from New York who owns a condo around the corner and, having visited this place before (alone and with my wife and son, 10), when checking on the apartment, I decided to move into the apartment so I'm not around for New York's collapse. In the past I've been happy with the pupusas, carne asada, and desserts. My son, I recall, loved his chicken Milanese with fries. Today I stopped in and had a flat-top grilled chicken breast from their early specials list, choosing mixed rice and beans and maduros as the two sides. Also, a Diet Coke and cafe con leche. All of it was great, just as you'd expect, with friendly service from Spanish-speaking ladies who are patient with non-Spanish speakers. I invested a lifetime in going to Latin American restaurants in the New York metro area and Texas and I enjoyed this place just fine. It's not fancy, but they have a happy hour and a gift shop so it's plenty of fun I'm sure. I'm coming back tomorrow and they'll think I'm nuts but for comida típica, I'll be here often. read more

The pupusas were greasy and they had very little filling inside however they were delicious! If I had no self control I could have easily eaten two or three more. They came with a cabbage slaw on the side that I believe you can either stuff the pupusas with it or you can put it on top along with a tomato based sauce that was also very good neither of which are spicy. I can say that ordering on a delivery app the food is a little more expensive, I think they're $3 if you pick up yourself. All I can say is that the food is amazing and the service was good not amazing. The tamal de elote with crema on the side is so good and not dry as other restaurants have. The pupusas were great and the curtido was perfect. They even have a little gift shop you can browse while you're waiting for your food to come out. It's a place to go for an experience not just to sit and wait for the food to come out and then gorge and complain because the food wasn't brought out in 30 seconds. This used to be my spot to get my traditional Salvadorean food,. Such as pupusas, tamales, horchata, nuegados, & amazing soups. Especially the res/beef, mondongo/tripe, & mariscada/seafood. Besides the inflation we are dealing with, the basic pupusas or tamales went up to $5 a pop! Ugh, so that's a bit Cray cray, but been dealing with it when I get my cravings, until I find my next to go to Salvi spot. Highly recommend Cabanas 2. They have great food and excellent customer service and reasonably priced. The owner/manager went out his way to go above and beyond. You don't have to pay for parking and they don't force you to pay mandatory gratuity like other places in Miami. Everything is authentic and freshly made. I went 2/11/24 with my family. It was my birthday and I was craving pupusas. Their pina colada was amazing!!! I had the bean and cheese and cheese. They had the best and most tastiest ones I have had. And their deserts are so delicious. We tried the tres and cuatro leches deserts! And they came out and brought my desert with a candle and decoration and sang happy birthday to me. I must say this place is the worst. We order 2 breakfast and a pupusa. Unfortunately, the beans didn't taste well, in fact they tasted burnt and bitter. We called the restaurant and advise of the situation. They told us to come back to the restand they will redo, well the owner was offended because she cooked the beans. She proceeded to elevate her voice and advise that she wasn't going to re-do anything. She said she doesn't need to please any customer. Therefore she refunded my money and left it ay the table. They are stuffed with cheese, beans, pork, and or a mixture. Bean and cheese pupusa was my favorite. I also ordered the Special Plate. This came with strip steak, pork steak, grilled chicken, chorizo, and shrimp served with two sides, I chose fried cheese and tostones. Everything had good flavor. My tasting included a bean and cheese papusa, beef empanada, mixed beans and rice not to be confused with Moro rice, and churros. The papusa was good and the empanada had great flavor but had a harder fry on it than I was used to. I'm not sure what I was expecting with the mixed rice and beans but it turned out to be okay. I've been coming here for a while and I'm disappointed at who the new chef is. I always get baleadas from here because they're my favorite and last night was terrible. Instead of mashing the beans, they just cooked them and dumped the liquid that comes with the beans into the tortilla while some of the whole beans fell in. The cheese was bland, pretty much tasteless and when I spoke up about it, they took the food and charged me for it anyways. I've been here enough for them to know me by name, and they still did that. High yield: Some friends and I decided to go exploring little Havana and stumbled upon this El Salvadoran jewel with extremely reasonable prices and authentic dishes. We ordered a beef sopa and a mondongo sopa (organs.. i think), a sample platter, fried cheese, and 2 plates of carne asada. Overall, all dishes were good. I thought the sopas were both soothing in flavor and the beef was stewed to perfection- tender but still had the bounce with the right amount of fat. The mondongo soup was a little difficult to appreciate b/c we didn't know it was organ soup but we figured out (med students) that it was hooves and tripe. The soup itself wasn't bad, just no one had the "guts" to eat the guts. The fried cheese looked like fried bean curd hahah. The carne was cooked to perfection- we had ordered medium well done and it was perfectly done without too much "juices" and not too tough. I highly recommend this cut if you're ordering. Carne Asada-- get the medium well done. You can find this in the same section as other meat dishes. It was extremely good here- I recommend a squeeze of lemon on top of your slices and the flavor is refreshing and still tasty. Platter- definitely a good one to get if you have a group and want to try all kinds of small bites like tamale, fried plaintains, tostones, etc. Sopas- the sopas have such a mild and comforting taste- not at all spicy and full of spices that most Latin/South American foods are famous for- a very comfortable soup with well cooked meats- not too tender stringy that a stew would do to meats after hours over stove and yet still maintain that bounce that a good meat soup should do to the beef. Highly recommend the beef sopa. The mondongo soup isn't bad, just order with discretion that you'll get some strange organs from a pig. overall, good prices and great tasting food- all the food was pretty fresh- no doubts on worries on gastritis or any food poisoning. My wife and I just happened to be in the Little Havana area and we searched Yelp for a close restaurant and found our way here. First off we just moved from Los Angeles and we have had years and years worth of good Mexican food. However we have never had El Salvadorian food so we were kind of excited to try it. The place is fairly small and its in a little strip mall so be warned there are only 15 or so parking spots which were all full so we circled the block a couple times to find parking. Once seated we were given menus that had tons of dishes to choose from all with pictures which is always a plus. My wife ordered a Carne Asada plate and I ordered the Caldo De Rez and we both really loved our meals. The Carne Asada was served fresh off the grill with steaming rice. The steak was huge and my wife couldn't finish it and my BIG bowl of Caldo was as good as any I've ever had. The beef was perfectly tender and not rubbery as you will get from time to time. Overall our first experience was absolutely perfect. Before we left we decided to order some chicken tamale's to take home since we've never had El Salvadorian tamale's. Now this was the game changer, the next morning we ate the tamale's and they were just incredible and by far the best we've ever had. They were very moist and not all dry and they were just stuffed with chicken and bursting with flavor. They were so good that we went back a few days later and ordered 30 more and took them to a party at the park where they went quick. Having lived in Los Angeles our entire lives we've eaten a million tamale's but these were hands down the best we've ever had. I might add the place is not expensive at all. read more

As half Salvadorean and Honduran, I occasionally give in to my inner-beaner, craving typical fare such as pupusas, baleadas, yuca con chicharron and tamales. I've gone to places like El Atlakat (many locations, but usually the one off of NW 7th St), La Pupusa Factory off Flagler and a handful of others. There's an amazing place in Oakland Park (Broward) called Taqueria y Antojitos El Guanaco, but that is much too far of a trek for me. So tonight, this craving hit me like a brick wall. Having moved to the area recently, Cabañas caught my eye as I'd drive toward I-95. I decided to try this place out. SO GLAD I DID. The waitress that assisted me was awesome. Very knowledgeable, laid back, great personality. Restaurant was very clean. It has a nice outdoor area and there's a little spot inside where you can buy music, clothes, etc. Ordered an horchata to drink, which was interestingly not gritty (not sure if that's good or bad yet lol), and received complimentary tortilla chips with a super fresh salsa and refried beans on the side. Had a baleada con carne, which was the size of my face... or bigger. I ate nearly the entire thing in 20 minutes. The spicy pickled veggies are perfect - I'm a sucker for the carrots in particular. It was exactly what my inner-beaner wanted, and I was very happy. Ordered two pupusas con loroco to go, and when I came home, was pleasantly surprised to see them separated by parchment paper so that they wouldn't get stuck together. Nibbled on a small piece and was happy - tortilla was not crazy thick and the cheese had that lovely loroco aroma to them. I will gladly eat them tomorrow for breakfast (don't judge me!). This is the kind of place I would bring a friend to try out Central American food for the first time. Coming from Brickell, I was looking for a place to eat on the outskirts of Little Havana. I had seen the sign for Cabanas several times and thought I'd finally come inside and try out their cuisine. I really like the outdoor patio along 8th street at the entrance of Cabanas. They serve Cuban coffee and various snacks through a window on the patio for those on-the-go. It's a wonderful, simple, affordable El Salvadorian diner. A quaint bar pocketed in the front corner offers a variety of beers and mixed drinks. I ordered take-out which took a long time, but it gave me the chance to explore the place. They have a neat gift shop in the back corner which has a glass display case of El Salvadorian souvenirs. I placed an order of two chicken enchiladas and only had to pay $8! The enchilada was just a light salad with grilled chicken and black beans placed on a crispy tostada, but it sure hit the spot!
