I've been going for many years and anything I ever try on the menu, I absolutely love. It's definitely Hispanic comfort food. All the staff at the restaurant are always very nice to me whether it be for a sit down meal or just pick up. Rest assure that you're going to have a great meal just don't expect some fancy restaurant. This is a very local spot and I'm pretty sure most of the people that come here are regulars. Very cute, small restaurant. Service was very friendly and nice. My Spanish isn't the best and our waitress didn't speak much English, but ordering was still very simple. The menu has both English and Spanish. The restaurant was very clean, service was fast, and our food came out very quickly. We ordered the carne asada combo (#2) and the whole fried fish (#11); both came with 2 sides. While the fish was very good, my boyfriend's carne asada was amazing!!! It was so tender and had so much flavor! I would go back just for that again and again. We did just take the standard sides with both (his came with red beans and white rice and mine with white rice and French fries). The portions were very large and we had plenty to take with us. My only complaint was that it seemed somewhat expensive (both of those combos plus 2 coronas was about $54 before tip). So something I don't think I'd spend all of the time...but still very, very good! read more

Dinner was great here. We were driving home from an appointment and were starved and I noticed this restaurant. Thing is I've heard good things from.other locations so we thought why not. Entering it's small and has a little bit of a diner feel with the counter right in the middle. It's not a very big space but the place was comfortably crowded. They have pictures of the menu food items on the wall to help you choose while.you drool, lol. Everything looked delicious so we chose quickly. Hubby went with the pork chops with rice and red beans and it came with tortillas and like a pico de gallo and selweet banana. I ordered the grilled chicken, rice and red beans and tostones. We also order fried calamari as our appetizer and asked for their spicy onions as a "hot sauce". OMG, this place was amaze!! Im.not a rice person but even the rice was delicious. The beans I could've eaten with a spoon as it's own dish and my chicken was grilled to perfection. I topped everything with that spicy onion topping and crunched away on every tostones. Hubby devoured his pork chop but still saved some for the following day. The portions are big so trust me you will definitely take something home. Our calamari was great to and not greasy. While in Miami I wanted to get some pupusas, so I Yelp and came across this restaurant that had excellent reviews. Yelp once again didn't disappoint. I ordered 1 cheese pupusa with a order of sweet plantains, and omg it was one of the best tasting pupas that I've ever had, definitely authentic and tasty. The carrot slaw that comes with the pupas was thinly sliced with a tangy taste not to wet, perfect in my opinion, layered on top of the warm pupas ooooozzzzzzing with melted cheese sooo good. I've been coming to El Atlakat since I moved to the US from Honduras and I was just a child. This location holds a special place in my heart as well as memories. When I'm having a breakfast like craving and want some good ethnic food I know I can count on them for yummy food. Loved the pupusas of loroco but didn't like their tamales de gallina and elote they came out lukewarm. When my aunt addressed the issue, they said that they would reheat it in the microwave that that's how they reheat things in this restaurant. The waitress was very clear that they prepare it in the morning and then afterwards they they just re-warm it in a microwave. I will not be returning as my favorite Atlakat is the one on Taft Street in Pembroke Pines and let's just say their clients are a sight to be seen! read more

It was a busy Saturday night so I won't hold it against them and I will definitely come back. If you don't speak Spanish, it may be challenging to order. It's much more of a hole-in-the-wall than the others but everyone that works here is so nice & friendly & the food is consistently delicious! My boyfriend lives in Toronto & is as much a foodie as I am. My dad invited him to eat here & although we had visited some VERY expensive dining establishments in the days before, he says it's one of the BEST meals he's had in Miami! At my dad's behest, he chose the Atlakat Special (Meat, chicken and shrimp), my dad had the Bistec De Riñonada Servido Con Cuajada, Hueves, Frijoles Y Salsa De La Casa (New York Strip Steak Server With Cheese, Beans And House Sauce) and I had the Camarones A La Plancha (Grilled shrimp). Its a fairly small restaurant and from what I hear it gets really busy both for breakfast and at lunch time so If you want to experience their food I suggest you go early. If you are looking for a good place to eat this is it. The food is 10/10. The service is amazing.

This El Atlakat restaurant is a much smaller rendition of this company's Salvadorian eatery on 8th Street. The first thing that struck me was how small this restaurant's dining area is. Most of the interior is taken up by a horseshoe-shaped bar/counter with stools around it. Aside from that, you'll find tables for 2 or 4 squeezed in wherever there's space. When we first arrived, every seat in the place was taken, aside from 2 empty stools at the counter, which we grabbed. That said, within about 15 minutes after our arrival, the place was 1/2 empty, so I guess the lesson is that if you arrive and there's nothing open, stick around for a bit as something is bound to open up. Aside from their menus which list everything they serve, there's a large backlit sign with photos of about a dozen featured dishes on one of the walls of this place. We both chose our meals from that sign, along with a glass of fresh squeezed juice. Our meals were both good and as ordered, and food here seems to come out of the kitchen faster than the El Atlakat location on 8th street. With each of us getting a meal, glass of juice and one of us getting a cafe con leche, the total bill came to just over $30 before gratuity. Only real downside of this place (aside from the slightly cramped seating around the bar/counter via stools that are bolted in place and can't be shifted around), was that the A/C seemed to be broken on the day we were here. It wasn't hot outside, but was definitely warm inside the restaurant with little air movement. read more

Let me start off by saying that the food here is amazing and the reason for the three stars has nothing to do with the cuisine. I was craving huevos rancheros (ranch style eggs) and this was a close spot, so I decided to try it out. I walked inside the Latin restaurant, which although rather small, made good use of the space by setting up the tables and chairs in a way that made you feel like it was bigger than it was. The place was also very airy and let in a lot of light through the windows, which made it a nice place for Saturday brunch. I took a seat at one of the tables near the window and here's where the not so fun part begins. No waiter passed by the table for almost fifteen minutes. To make matters worse, after dropping the menus on the table, the waitress walked away and told us to let her know when we were ready. Well, five minutes later, we were ready but she was nowhere to be found. After finally being able to signal her she got our order. The food didn't take that long to come out and we enjoyed it immensely. Huevos rancheros with crema, black beans, rice, and tortillas... Delicious! So, we munched hard and we were ready to go. We waited around for a few minutes but the waitress never came out so we went to another waitress and asked for the check. She told our waitress who took about 20 minutes to print the check. We have the check and the card back and to no surprise it took about another 20 minutes to get the card that we paid with back and to add insult to injury, she didn't even give it back to us because she was in the back, she had someone else do it. I don't speak Spanish but it didn't matter, the staff was super friendly and assisted me nicely. Menu has pictures which helped out a lot, lol. I had the Tuesday special Sopa de Gallina (hen soup). Large portion of homemade chicken soup with large breast piece and a dark meat leg filled with yuca, onions, carrots and zucchini. It was delicious, it comes with side of rice and large tortilla. This would have been a five star review because the food is amazing and I'm really picky with food! But the food is very delicious! I eat here all the time but this specific location gets really packed, there's not enough tables, or space. Last time we went we were a group of 3. There was 2 tables available that fit only 2 people. And their was a couple sitting in a table that fit a family. We literally had to eat separate so we can eat at a table. My dad was in a table alone and my mom and I were at another table together. I totally understand how this could be out of the waitress hands. But a great suggestion would be to have someone host or be vigilant to accommodate and sit customers. But because it gets crowded the waitresses are less likely to pay attention to that type of stuff. I've had my ordered wrong so many times when I eat at the restaurant or order take out. The waitress are always rushing. If they get your order wrong they don't ever suggest to change it even if it's their fault. And if it's take out, you're screwed! read more

Me & my friend were craving for Salvadorian Food, so we found El Atlakat at Google search Map:) stayed in Sunny Island Beach but driving for 25min from the beach to the El Atlakat was Worth it. Once we got into this cozy restaurant( Wish it was little bigger) it was pack with Hungry Customers. Loved the Atmosphere and the Servers were on the Move. The staffs were Amazing and what a Fast Service. The Prices were lower in some case but believe me every penny you spend there is worth it. I know I almost spend $100 but it was worth it and I also take it to go also for late night craving. Definitely will be back there again. Was left very Happy. read more

Worse service ever! I've been waiting for more then 2 HOURS for my food! The customer service on the phone is the WORST! Very rude, gave me extreme attitude. Was yelling at me for asking where my food was after 2 hours! I asked to speak to the manager and she kept hanging up the phone 3 times! I asked to speak to someone above her and she hung up on me.
