Honestly there's some bad reviews on here but this place is truly a delish, we had the jalea, and tacutacu de lomo saltado having had been too many Peruvian restaurants, this place blows them all out of the water highly recommended coming by here and trying out the food. I would give it five stars but this place has really bad service. The food is delicious!! I used to come here when it first opened. The food taste hasn't changed; superb! And the service hasn't changed either. It is slow and not so much in receiving your food. Delicious takes sometime. But it is the time you wait for someone to notice you to sit you down, then take your order plus checking up on if you need anything else or to get your check. Ready for this? MY FAVORITE PERUVIAN PLACE IN MIAMI. their food is so flavorful. *Keep in mind plates are a little over sized. My favorite of all time is the Jalea. It's a mixture of sea food but FRIED and served with tartar sauce and a small salad on top. It is always freshly made you can't even taste the oil (like other places they sell fried food and the oil drips). You can't leave without trying their ceviche. Any of the ones they have is delicious. Arroz chaufa is also extremely good. It's a big portion too so make sure you get some help ;) In conclusion it's the best PERUVIAN place in miami , that's my opinion. Price are decent. This used to be a nice eatery, but not anymore. The service is so bad that ruins whatever good the food might be. I noticed they added an extra room. I guess they can't handle growth in a professional way. We waited a long time to be seated and after we sat they mentioned that the food would take 50 minutes to arrive!! The agaudito de pollo is basically the antidote to the common cold - chicken chunks, rice, veggies and cilantro sauce in a soup bowl is the size of a small apartment. This place is SO GOOD. I highly recommend the Jalea - it was a huuuge plate of fried fish, calamari, shrimp, scallops, clams, and French fries. It all tasted very fresh and came with a little red onion salad with tomatoes and lime and cilantro and it was surprisingly so amazing and balanced out all the fried food really well. I have been going here for years and it is my go-to place for Peruvian food. The Ceviche is exquisite, portions are large. The quality of the fish is great; and the Octopus Ceviche as well. Be careful because the mixed ceviche (fish and octopus) doesn't have the same quality octopus as the one with only octopus (which is baby pulpo). The Chaufa is a huge plate of rice that feeds over 4 people for about $13.00, and the quality of their meat and ingredients is fantastic. Another dish that we love is the Jalea. Huge plate of fried seafood and fish topped with pickled onions. To die for!! I would not change this place for anything. The only downside is that it's always packed and sometimes there is a bit of a wait to sit down with no inside place to wait. But it's worth the wait and it's usually not a long wait. read more

I went to Sabor a Perú after hearing my sister rant about the lace and I'm sure happy I did. For starters, I ordered the Yule fries with their sauce and the fish ceviche. Both were really good! The fish seemed fresh and not the type that seems to be frozen for a while. For my main entree I ordered the bistec empanizado which was ok. As for aides I got rice and beans, but the beans were not great. The rest of my family ordered arroz chaufa and lomo saltado which looked really good but I didn't try any. They all said it was good. As for the service, they are so attentive. I spilled some juice by mistake and immediately several waiters came to the table to clean it up. If you're looking for Perúvian food worth your money then this is definitely a good place to read more

It's comical this place does not have a 5 star 1000+ type trail of reviews. You can not sit down, order ahead or pick up food without a wait on any given night. This was my first time coming here with a big group. It was about 7 of us and a baby. Our waitress was clueless about pretty much everything. She wasn't able to explain dishes, let us know what they had and what they were out of. We ordered a Tiger Blood dish and she "forgot to tell us they didn't have lime" so we only found out once everyone's main courses were brought out. Thankfully the food we did get was delicious and the sangria we ordered( white, because they didn't have any red wine) was pretty good as well. I will give this place a second chance because of the promise of good food. Will try to come with a smaller group and sit inside where there no scooters, bikes, and half naked people walking by us. This was the worst experience I had at a Peruvian restaurant, first the food took for ever (45mns) and then once I received my dish it was cold and asked the server if there's a way to make me another one, she agreed, they were gone for like 15mns, she came back picked up the plate from the table and I mentioned that I don't want them to just toss it in the pan and give it back to me, so she assured me that they are in process of making me a fresh one but little that she knows; I seperated a shrimp from its tail and dug it there to mark the food...but guess what they did exactly what I asked him not to...I still payed for the food in spite of what happened, but as someone that owns a restaurant and in the industry for the last 20 years, those cooks are not to be trusted and should be fired, if they're capable of no integrity and lie, God knows what else they do on a regular basis for other people's food...the server probably wasn't aware of it but better management and food safety control is mandatory, thank God I didn't eat it. We went on a Sunday afternoon, party of 7. Place was busy, but the wait was okay for no reservations. The dining experience was honestly close to horrible, it started off okay up until we placed our order and had to wait a good 20-25 min to get our food. To make matters worse they brought out everything at different times, so some one would get their main dish but the rice was never brought.. The waitress was never around so we had to ask more than twice to remind her to bring us what we were missing (and because she wasn't around this meant we also had to ask different employees for stuff and still had to wait a fairly long time to get it, mind you this restaurant is VERY small). Once we were served the waitress told us she was leaving and another employee would be taking over, when she walked away wee were agin left alone, no one checking to see if we were missing stuff (we still were). Finally when it was time to pay apparently she ended up staying until we were done and when she dropped the check she stood there waiting for us to pay - pretty much saying i am waiting for you guys to finish so i can get paid and go home. Food wise: At the table we ordered the Pollo saltado, it was okay, i wouldn't order it again, the Lomo saltado was very good and the other plate i tried on the table was the red snapper, very good. I would recommend this place for a take out event, but definitely not for a sit down dinner/ lunch - unless you are not thats hungry and in NO rush. The family, and I came here while I we were vacationing in Miami. The parking for this restaurant is a bit challenging...but, don't let it deter you from visiting this restaurant. Let me start by stating this since I'm from Dallas, Texas....and I thought that everything was bigger in Texas. Well, to my surprise, this restaurant serves BIG portions...and I mean BIG. When I was there to get my second ceviche I asked for an order of fried sweet plantain too. I really didn't mind to pay for that, but I truly believe that since you messed up with my last order and made me go one more time, some courtesy wouldn't hurt. Had a horrible experience! The chicken chafa rice was nothing but dark chicken pieces w/ greasy rice ! The Lomo Saltiado was just okay ... also served w/ greasy white rice . So disappointed with this place. Ordered lunch from here today. First issue, the person misunderstood the order and added an order of "leche de tigre" instead of extra juice in my ceviche order. This is the initial reason for my call. Until I find a hair! I am splitting the meal with a co worker when we find a hair mixed in with the potatoes. GROSS. I called and the person on the phone told me to bring the items back. So after work I made the trip to talk to this person who I had communicated with. My fault for not asking for a name because when I got to the restaurant no one knew what I was talking about. So I re-explain to the lady the situation and she then proceeds to tell the man next to her my issue. Bazaar that he is sitting there claiming to be a manager yet he is sending her back to tell me that he can't do anything for me. I PROFESSONAL would have came and addressed the issue directly instead of sending the subordinate to go the first work. After standing there for 20 minutes, I am given a choice: choose a refund for either the item that I did not order or the item with the hair in it. Really? After I didn't eat lunch because I was grossed out by the lack of sanitation. I didn't eat anything and brought it back to them yet they didn't want to refund the order. I proceeded to explain to him that it is way worst to have a negative review then to just give me my $30 but I am learning negative reviews are this restaurants forte. Killed it. KILT.it. Let this be known: I am a fruit juice freak. Set some fresh juice in front of me and you get points. If it's a tropical fruit, you're sure to get the red light special. If it's tropical juice I've never heard of... take me; I'm yours!! As soon as i saw the juice menu, I knew I was in for a treat. By the time I left, I was dead sexy, bloated belly, fried food on face and in hair... and i could still get it... cuz I have sexy like that. Trust. Wait. What? Oh yeah. Sabor a Peru. My friend and i rolled up on this unassuming mom & pop because I was in the mood for good food without pretension. I wanted to eat... no, I wanted to GRUB and I wanted seafood and I wanted some heat. Elements accounted for, my friend knew where to take me. Since moving to Miami, I know that it's essential that I improve my Spanish. Not because it's an ubiquitous language here but so many of my friends are latin that when we go out somewhere and they start speaking, other folks look at me, squint and think, "Oh. He's Dominican or Boricua or something," and then they start speaking to me in Spanish and I reply in a HORRIBLE accent with fourth grade-level words. Sometimes I get a laugh for my efforts. Sometimes a side-eye. This time, the waitress smiled nicely and replied in English. She recounted the juice options for me and I glazed over. So.many.fresh.choices. Even though I had a choice of Mora (!), Lucuma (!!) and Chirimoya (!!!) juices, I chose the Jugo Especial: a special mix of juice!! OMG!!!1!!111!!! Special juice! Made from fruits I'd never heard of! Mixed up!! I almost flatlined but my friend warned me not to embarrass her. Juice on table, we then proceeded to order nearly everything on the menu. I'm not kidding. Ever since I saw pictures of the Andes and some serious hotties who live in that land, I knew a trip to Peru was in my future. Now that I've had the food, I might have to put the sight seeing and booty on the back burner while I eat my way through the land. Wow. Delicious. Of course, we started with ocopa. I appreciated the salt and heat but it just warmed my jaw up for the main courses: Salchipapa (reminded me of a Filipino dish; gotta be the hot dogs); Chaufa de Carne (for my friend; Trick may loves the kids but he hates the beef); Chicharron de Mariscos (slap somebody if you haven't eaten this; fried squid, shrimp and assorted fish make everything better); plates of rice (heavily doused with rooster sauce); Ceviche de Pulpo (who doesn't like saying 'Pulpo'?); Cancha; Maduros; and Cuatro Leches. I wasn't kidding. We ate everything. Seriously. We had to move from our two-top to a four-top to accommodate all the food. And, guess what? I had no shame and no one cared. Our waitress was happy with our grubbing. Every other table was filled with families who were grubbing. No one was paying attention to who was there or what they were wearing. Whenever my husband and I come we often share, usually a papa a la huancaina and a lomo saltado. Last time I came to dinner with him I asked for a a grilled fish that was just delicious and very juicy. I recently came for lunch with great company who were far more adventurous than I'd ever been ordering Peruvian food, so I had the opportunity to taste three new and amazing dishes that will now certainly become part of my "usuals". Adventurous food: - We started with Ceviche - that was good, but pretty normal when compared to others; wish it came with more sweet potatoes. - The second plate that was brought out was Jalea (note sure if I'm speling it right, so just pronounce it in Spanish and you got it). I guess you can say this is like ceviche, it had all the ingredients Ceviche has, the only difference is that everything except the onions was fried - oh my god! Why would anyone ever eat fried chicken when they can have Peruvian Jalea - yum! - That was followed by Choros a la Chalaca, a recommendation from the waitress, right on! Pretty much like the ceviche, but it came with mussels, onions, corn and the expected lemon juice, all served in the shell. - We finished our extended lunch with Picarones - three big and skinny doughnuts, drenched in melted brown sugar, the perfect ending to a great meal. The service is hit or miss here. Not always the great, and for the most part rather slow. But the food is good, so when in great company the service is easy to overlook. A plus - it's open pretty late. We've walked in at times just before 10 p.m. and they're still serving. It's usually fairly empty, although during lunch it gets pretty packed. I was meeting a friend for dinner last night and he chose the restaurant and I'm happy he did because even with its perfect location Sabor a Peru is the kind of place that could easily get lost in the shuffle, as it is small and unassuming. We shared ceviche and I really liked it, especially because I like acidity. My dining companion with his attention to detail picked up on the color of the shells which were by the way much more colorful than usual and very pretty. In fact the entire plate was presented well which might be a little surprising as the rest of the restaurant has an almost Latin kitschy feel complete with arena rock music videos in english and spanish. Yes, double the thrills. So you get to enjoy your ceviche whilst quietly singing along to Poison's Every Rose Has It's Thorn. This might be the kind of place where a large group of friends gathers on a Sunday night, orders some cold brews and good Peruvian eats and has an impromptu sing along session to Roxeanne or Foreigner. After all I do wanna know what love is, if every cowboy does in fact sing a sad, sad song, and what do they add to the ceviche to give it that subtle spicy flavor. read more

I'm writing this quick review not because of the food, but because of a situation. The food is fantastic, no complaints there... Service was OK, it could be improved but it was Ok. I recently got married and have received a number of Visa gift cards, so I wanted to pay with one of then. The server took the card to the back and came back with, "I'm sorry. We are not taking these right now". So we paid with a regular Visa and 3 hours later, we received an alert from Visa that our card was compromised and they were trying to use it in NY and in an on-line store. Sure, the ambiance is very chill and nothing to write home about, but at Sabor a Peru, it's all about the food. We ordered a Ceviche, and a Lomo Saltado, and both were made to perfection. Perfect level of salt and sauce. Perfect touch of lemon zest. Beautiful display of colorful foods with levels and levels of flavor. If all you care about is the food, then this place gets five solid stars. If ambiance and environment account for a star, then it's worthy of 4 stars, since tables are cheap, the space has bad photoshopped images on the walls and the parking spots in the back are limited (and because this restaurant is so popular--the parking spots are almost always full unless you get lucky). But it's actually refreshing to find a place that is so confident about its' food, it doesn't need to show off, or oversell itself on decor. I personally think some people are suckers for decor, and environment, a true hole in the wall is all about the flavors, and this one certainly has food made to perfection. Prices are low for the quantity and quality of what you get. The service is ok. They have Inca Cola and Diet Inca Cola (for those pretending to watch their weight like me). Always crowded but never a wait for a table. The turnaround is fast and the food is fresh and served almost instantaneously. I can't wait to come back to Miami and eat here again. The un-popped fried choclo pieces they offer complimentary to every table are a nice appetizing beginning to a wonderful meal. visited the venue today and well...is OK. I have to really compliment the service because the ladies working there are very nice and attentive. Now regarding the food....hmmm...We ordered the ceviche mixto, papa huancaina and today's special :vegetable soup and escabeche de pescado. The portions were good but the flavor was a bit lacking. The ceviche had way too many onions which overpowered the seafood taste and the huancaina sauce needed more thickness. Overall, it was a nice experience but you can't fool a true peruvian. Ahhh, ceviche. Your delicious acidity, supple texture, clean freshness, and spicy edge. I love you like no other. The magicians at Sabor a Peru have your number, ceviche. Unfortunately, the other aspects of our dining experience didn't quite live up to that of the delectable ceviche. The full rundown: Papa A La Huancaina - tasty, but then again, how can you mess up cold potatoes and cheese sauce? Still, the presentation was lovely and mild flavors started our meal off on the right note. I would have enjoyed more of the red bell pepper pieces to add some textural intrigue. Ceviche De Pescado - obviously, delicious. We requested spicy but it was mild-medium, so next time I'll ensure my desires are clearly communicated. The portion was quite large. Pescado A La Chorrillana - Perfectly cooked rice, yummy roasted tomatoes. The fish was very overcooked, unfortunately. The texture of the breading was analogous to that of a rubber duckie. Frozen peas and carrots added nothing to the dish. My cusqueña beer was nice and cold but the sangria missed the mark for me. There was a thin layer of froth that remained throughout the meal and it was overly sweet for my taste. Service was friendly but the tangible language barrier presented challenges to communication. Hole-in-the-wall atmosphere and some other issues gave us reason to be uncertain about cleanliness, but not enough so to stop us from chowing down.
