I came in about 12:30 today for the first time. The place was packed with people! Got through the line quickly, only took a few minutes. Reasonably priced food for what you're getting. The queso was outstanding with chips. Tacos came out quickly. I had the grilled shrimp which was my favorite, the Baja sauce was dynamite! After going to a Rusty Taco for the first time in Omaha a few months back and loving it, I was so excited to find out one was opening right down the street from me here in Gilbert! First dine-in experience a few weeks ago was awesome. Delicious tacos and churros. Everything was hot and fresh and yummy. Ordered to-go the other night and was a little disappointed, though. The to-go tacos were SO SKIMPY compared to the dine-in tacos! Definitely a bummer. Ordered chips and salsa AND chips and queso, but only got one order of chips despite paying for two, and got guac instead of queso. Luckily the guac ended up being delicious, but I would have preferred getting what I ordered and paid for. Opening day!! And it was great experience for us. It was delicious. I got the two different pork tacos and kid got the brisket and the Texmex. They were all delicious and stuffed with lots of meat. Kid says the sauce on the brisket is the ! We also got a Chip trio with queso, guac and salsa. The queso was nice and spicy. Guac was chunky and loaded with flavor. The salsa was a very good cantina style sauce, flavorful and a good medium heat. If you like your salsa hot, you might be disappointed. Not sure if they have "Hot". The Rajas Taco was embarrassing, the batter on the shrimp tacos was too thick and tasted like a Long John Silver's style taco. The cheese dip was rotel style. The chorizo taco barely had any chorizo, and didn't taste like chorizo. Rusty Taco is like a poor man's Wisconsin version of Backyard Taco with a seemingly authentic menu that fails to deliver. I don't mind Taco Bell tacos because I know what to expect, but Rusty Taco seems confused about what it is. This taco shop does not play in the same space as Backyard Taco. We've been to Rusty Taco a couple of times and have loved it! The staff is very friendly, including the managers. We've had a few different tacos and all have been great! This place has a lot of potential, however there are 2 major issues. First- there is only one line for ordering food, which is usually 20-30 minutes long. One single person, takes orders, prepares your chips/guac/queso and makes your margaritas. Why do they not have more than one person doing this? A line of only 4-5 people ahead of you could last up to 30 minutes. Then you wait another 20 min for your food! Second- the person who is handling your money and the register, is also handling your chips/guac/queso and drinks. Gross! Just another reason to have more than one person at the front. No matter how long the line is, they still only have 1 person taking orders. And...that person is always SLOW AF! I swear one guy I had was hung over, moving at about 2 mph, and no manager in sight. I give them 2 stars because I do like the food, great chips & queso, great veggie tacos. But- only go if you have an hour or more to kill for tacos. read more

I was honestly super surprised I enjoyed Rusty Taco as much as I did. There are so many great taco joints in the valley and this newbie did not disappoint. My hubs and I ordered a combination of Rusty Tacos, Beef Fajita Tacos, Black Bean Tacos, Grilled Fish Tacos, and Fried Fish Tacos. We also ordered a side of their seasonal street corn, chips and salsa, and a watermelon mango margarita. Our stand out faves were the vegetarian black bean taco, the beef fajita taco, the chips and salsa and the margarita. The flavors of all of those items were incredible! Their bottled salsas located in the cooler are also spot on. My one major gripe and the reason I didn't give Rusty Taco a full 5 stars was over the street corn. It was watery and lacked the same intense flavor of the rest of the things we tried. If I were to offer a tip, it would be to char the corn before combining it with the mayonnaise and cotija. This will reduce the moisture and give it the traditional smokey flavor of elote. Otherwise, this place is great and we will definitely be returning to try more menu items in the future. read more

My wife and I each ordered 3 different tacos, 6 total and we didn't feel like any of them were worth coming back for. Don't get me wrong, they weren't bad tacos, they were ok tacos. I feel like if your going to have a place called a taco shop you have to have great tacos. They do have a good assortment of different types of tacos I'll give them that. Also, when we got up to the counter to order, I asked the person at the cash register what was their favorite taco. "What are you eating for lunch today" kind of question. Well, she had a hard time giving us a recommendation, she just turned her head to the side looked at the menus and said they are all good without much enthusiasm. We actually had a great experience here. I wish I could rate this place 4.5 stars but it leans closer to 5. I liked the different variety of tacos and although some were better than others I didn't regret any of mine. The endless chips and salsa was a nice touch with delicious salsa for every taste. One complaint I have is they really need to label their tacos. Even with a sharpie on the paper that tells you what number it is would be great. We had a problem knowing what was what and I watched the same interaction happen at the finished order counter about a dozen times in the time we were sitting.
