We've been coming here for a few years. It's my favorite go to spot for tacos and margaritas. Great for groups or nights when you feel like just taking yourself out! They have a nice variety of tacos as well as chips, nachos, and kids' meals. Their signature Rusty margarita is perfect but they have different flavors too. The staff is always really friendly and I especially appreciate the ones who have been there for awhile and know us. Erin makes us feel like family and is amazing. The black lady working at this location is a brat. She straight up lied to us about our tacos and was upset when they got it wrong and we called them on it. We took it back and they gave us a tiny piece of fish in our taco I brought it back and she said they all come like that. We also received the wrong nachos and when we brought it back we were told that they were correct and they wouldn't fix the problem. Dan, the Man! Very nice guy and seems to care about the place that he's running. His staff were slacking a little and it shows that some didn't care to be there! The Lady who started making my tacos placed 2 pics of chicken on the shell and left it sitting for 5 min before he, Dan came and finished it off(after he wiped down tables and was cleaning up) ! The employees were not organized nor the most helpful from what I was noticing. Dan was a 1 Man crew. I bet the employees run over him. Poor guy Give this Man a raise and a promotion I won't go on about what I really thought of the 2 employees behind this station because, Dan is the Manager and was doing a fantastic job. I do suggest speaking with the 2 employees who were hanging out when they could've been making orders, as well as, about cleaning up the station and being organized. So my wife and I went to Rusty Taco Monday evening. They were busy, always a good sign. My wife ordered the #1 and the Spicy Fried Chicken Taco, I ordered 2 of the Spicy Fried Taco's. I ordered a large order of Queso and Chips to go with our meal. Which was a mistake. The tacos are of a decent size 2 will fill you up. Mine were fantastic and Janna enjoyed hers as well. TL;DR tasty food, affordable drinks, louder atmosphere but sure to please everyone that loves a good taco. Would recommend! I have eaten at Rusty Taco plenty of times...let's not put a number on it I would probably be ashamed. Suffice it to say, I know my way around RT, Gilbert. You can't go wrong with any of the menu items at Rusty Taco, the Tres Grande is a must if you have a group as it's the perfect appetizer and with free chip refills you can keep snacking through the meal on the queso, quac, and salsa. I love all their tacos, I've had nearly all of them and I like anything with brisket, the texican is a classic, and for something a bit different the fried chicken is delicious, but definitely don't sleep on the shrimp taco, either. They also have some tasty margaritas and the beer is always cold. I think they have a happy hour but it may depend on location. The only real con in my book and the reason I didn't rate it five stars is because ultimately like any fast casual spot there are employees who are more attentive than others so I've had experiences where they got several of tacos in our order wrong or didn't pay close attention to amendments of the typical toppings and send it with everything. That being said, they are always very quick and kind to fix the order and make it right! Rusty taco is not the spot for the most authentic street tacos you've ever had. But they have an upbeat atmosphere and a great mix of unique and more typical taco creations with great seasonal specials and some great alcoholic beverages if that's your thing. Stopped by last night while visiting family in PHX area and saw that nachos have returned to the menu; the brisket nachos used to be a favorite a few years ago and were big enough to be a meal by themselves for at least 2 or 3 people. Unfortunately, quality and quantity didn't return with the nachos. My order was heavy on the chips, really heavy on the bbq sauce, light on cheese, and not much more than a sprinkle of brisket. Chips and queso would have been a more economical choice. The restaurant was also nearly empty at 7:15pm but tables weren't cleaned, and during our 30 minute visit we saw no attempts to clean them. Overall another disappointment from this restaurant that used to be almost a daily visit while we were in the area. Thankfully there's no lack of excellent taco places to discover as Rusty fades out. read more

My boyfriend and I came here a couple weeks ago. We got at least five different tacos off the menu, and we didn't really like any of them. The best out of all of them was the Philly taco. But there was a short black hair in my carne asada taco. The women's bathroom was gross. The customer service was very dry and the staff didn't seem fazed when I told him that there was a hair in my food. I enjoyed eating at the Rusty Taco at Scottsdale and I thought this place would be just as good. However I was wrong because my girlfriend got food poisoning a few hours after eating here. I ordered 3 original fried chicken tacos with flour tortillas. We also ordered some churros. They were good but I could care less at the moment. My girlfriend ordered the vegetarian bean taco and breakfast taco with potatoes. My girlfriend is vegetarian and because of that I never expected her to get food poisoning but after she got sick and queasy and starting barfing all night to the point that she could not get up and away from the toilet and do anything. We concluded that she has salmonella and it was because there was cross contamination with our orders and that the kitchens were not cleaned during the making of our orders. We understand that places can make mistakes and that is fine and normal. We are not the kind of people to jump to conclusions. However, all signs point to this place being the sole reason why my girlfriend has salmonella and because of how bad the food poisoning was for her, she has become scarred to go out to eat again and I don't blame her at all. Last 4 visits they did not get my order correct. Being vegan I asked for no cheese and every time it showed up with cheese. Staff was nice and remade my meal each time. Food is always good and highly recommended. Complaint is tables and floors are filthy. They are not cleaned properly and a simple repaint of the picnic tables would go a long way in appearance. Wash the floors and hose off the patio concrete daily. Also, turn the music down!! Older couple in line in front of us took over 10 mins to order because cashier was soft spoken, and they couldn't hear him because of the LOUD music. They were very frustrated. Gilbert isn't my scene, but they always get some new and exciting places to open up. I was looking forward to coming here after attending a school concert nearby. Normally there's another location that offers tacos, but I'm always game for trying something new. I have to admit when I walked in I was really excited (because they had alcohol as an option) as the menu gave us plenty of choices. On paper, the options looked great but I have to admit we were disappointed once the food arrived and started to make our way through them. In all, we ordered 10 tacos and mixed them up for us to gauge. The one we could agree was good was the Brisket taco... very good. We also did the Grilled Fish Taco (too much sauce and messy), Fried Chicken taco (don't waste your time, no seasoning), the Picadillo, Rusty, some chips n salsa, margarita, and beer. The one issue with most of the tacos was the lack of flavor. It seemed very bland. We found ourselves adding salsa to everything or it had to much sauce from the order that didn't really compliment profile. Got invited to a work HH at the Rusty Taco. We sat on the patio outside. It's an order at the counter go pick up your meal type of joint. The service was really good - the girls were attentive and checked in. I ordered the steak Fajita taco and the breakfast taco (eggs, bacon, taters, cheese). The breakfast taco was basic, it was totally edible, but easy to replicate or improve anywhere else. The steak taco was disappointing. The menu said it was skirt steak, however it looked and tasted more like balls of ground beef. On the plus side they have beer and margaritas.
