I've been coming here since the 1980s. This is my go to pizza spot when I'm in greenpoint on Manhattan Avenue. I always order the garlic knots with cheese!! Their broccoli & chicken pizza is always very good as well. This is the service with a smile type place. Everyone's always so nice. You order in the front and sit in the back while you get served. You can also take the food to go. All the ingredients are always fresh. The atmosphere here is always so chill. You never have to worry about it being too loud. Very good pizza & garlic bread. Readin for my 3 stars I thought the slices were a bit heavier (loaded with stuff...) than they should've been. They were quite good still. The garlic knots are good (lots of garlic, which I always LOVE & they're a great deal! 3 for a buck!) I was disappointed, only, I needed to addd salt. State of the bathroom is my Biggest gripe about this place. It could've been worse I suppose...i NEVER like seeing URINE ON BATHROOM FLOORS, though. (I'm all too aware many people are disgusting.) All the more reason to clean your public bathroom more. *AMERICAN folk just need to be cleaner. read more

Not only was there a hair in the pizza that measured at least half a foot long, but when I just called to give them a friendly heads up about it, the guy on the phone said, "what do you want me to do about it," and then hung up on me. I am incredibly disappointed since we order from Russ's at least a couple times a month. They're the only place we know that does gluten free pizza. Being hung up after I was calling, and calling not to complain, but to give a friendly heads up, feels awful. Especially considering this year has been shitty enough, and we ordered from Russ both last week on Christmas Eve and now tonight, on New Years Eve. Once home, I reheated the my pizza and knots in the oven. Now, a little background, I prob eat pizza like 2-3x A YEAR. So I had been craving it and the place I normally go to was miles away. Since I was walking by this place I decided to drop and satisfy my pizza tooth. Well, sadly I was NOT satisfied. The pizza had literally NO taste. I mean, the sauce..the chicken..the broccoli..nada. Nothing to tantalize my taste buds. I even had to double check my nose/sinuses, to make sure I did not have an occult cold I was unaware of (you now how your taste buds are warped when you are congested)...well congested I was not. Fine...I threw 70% of the pizza away more out of anger that I wasted my time and didn't get desired return. And eating it further won't make it taste any better. I turned to the garlic knots. Surely surely, they have to be good. NOPE. First bite, I was met with oil. Okay okay, yes garlic knots are oily we know that. But still, there is the dough, there is garlic and salt...soo there is still room for greatness. I did not get greatness, I got a mouth full of tasteless oily dough. Updated review because my roommate ordered a pizza from them today and it's the same thing with them, order arrived 3:30pm and it's leftover stale pizza from the day before, not a FRESH pie!!! They have a lot of nerve charging this much money for crappy old pizza!!! I already vowed not to order from them again. Had another issue with them after they sent the wrong pizza- they wanted it back but my roommate ate half of it before I was even off the phone when I called to tell them they sent the wrong pizza. I love this pizzeria! I've been coming to this pizzeria since I was a kid in the 90s. My mother would give me $5 to get something after school and I would spend it all at Russ. Hector and Freddy have been part of my childhood and adulthood. I now live in Florida and always make my way to Russ when I'm in town. These guys have known me since I was a little girl, and always knew my favorites. They were like family and took great care of the community. I never got to tell them thanks for all the times I would come after school and be short a $1, but they would still feed me. The was food was just OK but the manager & the delivery man are absolutely AWFUL. The delivery guy delivered the wrong order. Not a big deal, since he just delivered our food plus something extra. But he then waited 40 minutes to call and say he wanted to REDELIVER the extra food that we had in our apartment for 40 minutes. At this point the extra food had been eaten so we told them to go ahead and charge our card. Well the delivery guy shows back up at our apt, calling nonstop, yelling in the street, beeping his horn, ringing ours and our neighbor's bells to again try and REDELIVER old food that was sitting in our apartment. Is this normal??? We then called the restaurant to speak to the manager who then blames us for the other order never being delivered. Both the manager and the delivery guy were extremely aggressive, creepy and downright rude - and they were at fault! So if you want to get harassed and maybe have old cold food redelivered to your home from someone elses, definitely order from here!
