Well, kind of a buzz kill to be ripped off by a place you've been wanting to try. They posted on their Instagram about a Cinco de Mayo Calzone as part of their Tuesday special, buy one, get one for $5. Great, can't wait to try this. My husband and I ordered two to go, and he swiped his card before I caught the $60 charge. I'm trying to do the math here. If the second one is $5, what is the first one, $50? No clue how this math is mathing, so I ask. The guy at the register tells me calzones aren't included, that the special refers to pies. Okay, except nothing on their Instagram says or implies that. I pull out the actual Instagram post from that same day, advertising this special, and he pulls someone from the kitchen who backs him up. Again, not what their Instagram implies at all, and the only reason I walked in for the first time. After going back and forth with the staff, I finally give up and just say let me know when it's ready, since we already paid $60 for two calzones. And honestly, even setting the special aside, in what world is a calzone $30? We took the food home. It had already lost all appeal after feeling ripped off, but we ate it anyway. I mean, we spent $60 on this, might as well try to enjoy it. Unfortunately. As a calzone, it wasn't great. It was basically a pizza folded in half. And as a pizza, also not great. The dough was doughing, and not in a good way, way too soft, no crispness whatsoever. It frankly sucked. If you're going to rip someone off, the least you could do is make the food taste bomb. Oh well.

At any rate, the pizzas were great fresh out of the oven. Dough super chewy. Beautiful blistering. Toppings were top notch quality. We got the namesake salsa pizza (spicy) and funghi. Salsa wasn't very spicy at all, but still super flavorful. My wife liked this one more. I preferred the funghi. The saltiness from the prosciutto with the umami of the mushrooms just made for a flavor bomb with each bite. I will say it got less enjoyable as it cooled down, so definitely don't let it sit around for too long! Either way, a really good pizza though. Probably one of the best neapolitan pizzas I've had. As far as service and ambiance goes, it's a pay at the counter and pick it up when ready situation. Space is pretty casual. Good for a weekday meal to catch up with friends or a laid back date.

I'd give this a 3.5 out of 5. The dough was very soft and wood fired pizza is always delicious. The ingredients were fresh and sauce was the perfect tangy flavor. I think I would have liked it a little bit thicker of a slice since the sauce and cheese very much slid off. We got the Salsa & the Hipsteroni - both were good and loved the hot honey with pep. I also thought the basil was a very light and nice touch to the Salsa. Overall great ambiance, quick service and tasty pizza but would still give it a strong 3.5/5- thank you!!

Unique pizzeria in Greenpoint serving traditional Neapolitan pies with a side of cultural confusion. It's not quite fusion, but there's randomly a (somewhat bland) cacio e pepe pie with salsa verde and guacamole on the menu. I tend to think they should have embraced the concept more wholeheartedly if that was their intent, which the name arguably hints at. The classic Margherita pizza was definitely the better option of the two we ordered, but the crust did not achieve the ephemeral chewiness that I would think is the goal.

This unassuming spot does Neapolitan pizza right. Came here for dinner and ordered the napoletana pizza, ricotta bruschetta, and the pesto pasta. - the pizza (5/5): this was done right. The crust was perfectly cooked, the ingredients were well balanced (they did not skimp on anchovies like many other places), and overall it was a very good pizza. - the pesto pasta (4/5): perfectly cooked, the burrata added the extra umph. Overall a very solid dish. - ricotta bruschetta (4/5): it's hard to go wrong with ricotta and honey. This is more of an appetizer (or possibly a dessert tbh). I thought the bread could have been a bit warmer/bigger but at $6, don't miss this. The space is primarily for take out but there are a few tables nestled upstairs and outside. Would stick to parties less than 4. I saw they have Tuesday specials of buy 1 pizza get one for $5 so looks like I will be returning!

Came here on a break in between some Muay Thai fights up the street. We had a pretty large group and wanted to dine in so they put us upstairs on the take out side. They seemed pretty busy and we had a group of six people so it took a while (understandable). The pizza flavors were delicious I got the funghi but the dough/crust itself needed way more time in the oven, it was soft and floppy and without folding it and the support of my hand all the toppings would've all fallen off. Pizza was a little pricey but I know it's nyc/brooklyn so that's whatever, convenient location, and flavors are there..would probably eat again out of convenience but ask them to cook it a little longer.

so good!!! got a rec from a friend to check this place out because i told her i loveeee Neapolitan pizza and was on the hunt for a good one, and boy am i glad i tried this spot! also, greenpoint is such an underrated neighborhood. its adorable! reminds me of west village but WAY cooler with vintage stores, unique markets and so many great gems spanning all the cuisines. the staff here were so welcoming and sweet. we sat indoors and shared a basil pesto pizza, and they made us feel so comfortable and not rushed when it was just us two in the space. we stayed there for 2 full hours and caught up. i loved it so much i went back today to get a gift card for some friends who are moving to nyc soon! thanks salsa :)

The food, service and ambiance are fantastic in this Italian shop that serves pizza and pasta while using the meats from Taqueria Ramirez. The prices are also very affordable for Greenpoint. Will definitely come back.

Very good pizza margherita in Greenpoint! Everything was mostly spot on, the dough and sauce were great. Cheese was decent. It was regular mozz. I definitely prefer buffalo mozz over regular, so next time may try the "Regina" pie, which is their classic margherita with buffalo mozz. Wish I'd known about it before! The appetizer of mushroom bruschetta took this from 5 to 4 stars for me. It was not too flavorful and the mushrooms had a "canned mushroom" consistency iykyk... Will come back for the Regina and will report back!

i've been here twice and can confidently say that this is easily one of my favorite pizza places in all of nyc. while i typically prefer a stiff new york style pizza, salsa makes an EXCELLENT neapolitan style pizza. the crust is so soft and pillowy and still full of flavor -- this is important to note because i usually discard the crust, but i eat it all here!!!! i've tried the margarita, pepperoni, la ramirez, and la salsa, with the last 2 being my faves! the sauces on la salsa...chefs kiss! i think about it all the time and wish they delivered to my neighborhood so i could have it more often!! it's a very casual vibe where you grab your own water, utensils, etc. employees were kind and were happy to see us enjoying our meal. looking forward my next visit. read more

This such a great quaint summer spot. They have a few seating options outside which I'd highly recommend grabbing a few pizzas and some beer or wine. The pizza was baked to perfection and Neapolitan style. My favorite was the margaherita pizza but the cacio e Pepe with the salsa verde was also great. We were able to finish 3 pizzas between 4 people since the pizzas weren't too heavy. Definitely would come back! read more

I'd rate Salsa Pizzeria three and a half stars. We shared the salami pizza. Dough was chewy with not many visible air pockets. Undercarriage held up and center didn't need to be flipped up. Cornicione was the chewiest part. The pizza baker did a fantastic job of getting a char on the bottom and along the edge. Unfortunately, I didn't get much flavor from the char. Not sure if the was a result of what was used to heat the oven or if the oven was just on the younger side. I feel the char would have been phenomenal under other circumstances, so big kudos to the baker. Toppings wise, the salami stood out the most. Wasn't getting much from the sauce, cheese, or basil. There was one single occupancy restroom. Both indoor and outdoor seating. On the casual side with a couple families dining in. We had a nice experience, but I think Salsa Pizzeria is in a tough spot with some incredible competition nearby. read more

Before Salsa there was Bravo Ragazzi in Bed Stuy pushed out due to an uncompromising landlord. We cried tears of joy when we saw Salsa open up in Greenpoint. Their pizzas are yummy but their two pastas big enough to share , pack a cozy cravable punch of deliciousness! And if you check in they occasionally have pizza making classes that are always a good time. read more

I have wanted to try Salsa for a while and finally made that happen last Saturday. I placed an online order at 7pm for a pizza and a salad. I received a notice that said my order would be ready at 7:20pm. Great. I walked over and arrived at about 7:22pm. They were busy, so I told the hostess/server that I was there for a pick-up. She asked my name, I told her and she said something to the guys making the orders. Since she didn't say anything after that, I figured it wasn't ready and waited in front of the restaurant. Ten minutes passed and no word or communication from the woman who I spoke to. Twenty minutes passed and the same thing. Thirty minutes passed and still no communication. I'm still waiting in front of the restaurant watching the server I spoke to walk by me multiple times without saying a word. As I watch people who arrived after me and order well after me, get seated and served, I walked up to the woman and asked how much longer it would be since I had waited for 40 minutes and had placed the order an hour ago. She tried to tell me that she called my name a few times. I responded that she never called my name because I have been standing in front of the restaurant the entire time. She then tried to tell me that one of the guys must have called my name. Again, no because I have been standing in front of the restaurant for the entire 40 minutes. Then she hands me my food and tells me that it hasn't been ready long (pizza is cold and salad is warm). That's the third time she has lied to me in a matter of a couple of minutes. I don't care if the pizza was the greatest I've ever had (it wasn't), I will never again support this business based on what went down. There's no reason for this individual to lie to me other than to attempt to cover her mistake. If she would have at least apologized for the delay and no communication, I would have given this place another shot. read more

This place is easily one of my favorite neapolitan pizza I have had. Their pasta is fantastic too. Ingredients taste fresh, their dough is super soft, and the sauce is incredibly flavorful. You can't go wrong with any of their pizzas. I also love their pasta! The Ragu and orecchiette is delicious. Highly recommend checking this place out. Also, UberEats for the last like 3 months has been doing a BOGO of their neopolitan pizza best sellers, so you can get 2 pizzas for $25, which is crazy value (their offer it for their margherita, histeroni, and formaggi). Go and give it a try! read more

One of the best Neapolitan Pizza in NY. If you a true Neapolitan fan this is a must go location. The hydration and the crust is on point, the sauce + fresh basil + fresh mozzarella is perfect. the only con is the small indoor space to sit down. but highly recommend for the pizza. read more

This little spot is a true Greenpoint gem. Incredible pizza. The gluten free crust is easily one of the best that I've ever tasted (and I've tried a lot), and the ingredients are really fresh. I ate these delicious pies on one of their few outdoor tables without knowing this was a premier Neapolitan pizza place that would make it onto many "best of 2021" lists. It reminded me of the Neapolitan pies I've enjoyed in Italy, pies NY pizza hasn't quite lived up to. I started with an order of the potato croquettes which were wonderful for their simplicity. They were nicely crisp, full of flavor, and a great way to whet an appetite for the star of the show. The margherita is a must order, and if you're a fan of anchovies, olives, capera, tomato sauce, mozzarella and oregano, the Napoletana pizza will knock your socks off. Salsa pizzaria has great Napolian pizza at Greenpoint Brooklyn. I have tried vegana(vegitarian), Margaritas, Pere E Miele(white pizza) and loved them all. The crust was perfectly thin sauce were great and topping were layered out in perfect amount. Overall I really enjoyed it. If you are ever in Greenpint, Brooklyn and looking for a good pizza place, I highly recommend to try salsa pizza. read more

As a celiac, it can be challenging to find a great slice of pie. This is it! They make their dough in house (even the gf dough!) it was the perfect chewy but soft texture you would expect from a napoleon style pizza. They have a small kitchen but used a separate space to make the gf pizza -they do fill cannoli and a few other tasks in the space but not tons of flour flying around. They used separate utensils for the pizza as well. My non-gf dining mates also raved at the deliciousness of their pies. We will definitely be back! read more

You have to pass through this dark curtain and go to the middle of the bar where the host will greet you and bring you to your seats. We were seated promptly with no wait. The restaurant is VERY small. So much so that at our table, all I had to do was reach my hand out and I would have been touching the kitchen counter. It does get a little crammed/crowded, but not in an annoying or unbearable kind of way. The vibe is actually really cozy and rustic. Very dim lighting so either whip out the flashlight on your phone or hold up one of the real candles they have on the table to read the menu. The food menu is straightforward and simple. They have an extensive wine list. I love how on the food menu, next to each dish, they tell you the region of Italy that dish gets its roots from. They have lovely dinnerware here. They brought out a foccacia bread for the table with a tomato dipping sauce. Absolutely delicious foccacia. The sauce was a tad too salty for me. I started off with the mocktail Luisa. They have food and dessert vendors on the first floor and rooftop area on the 5th floor. There were dj's on both floors. We chilled on the rooftop area where there were tons of seating. They have a large dining area to sit and eat and drink. They had chairs and couches to chill and enjoy NYC water and Skyviews. The DJ (DJ Stretch) on the rooftop was amazing and played a lot of old school music from different genres. The venue was packed on Valentines day (2025). There was also an amazing violinist, (Judithviolinist on IG). This is definitely a place to check out and get your grub on or just sit and chill. If your headed over the bridge for a night, this place is worth checking out as it's also right nearby the instagram-able views!
