Disappointing. I grew up going to Danny's pizzeria which was really decent New York pizza. We ordered an extra cheese pizza and it was not New York pizza. This place is what's up. It was always good, but the last few years it has only gotten better and better and is now on another level. It's my #1 spot not just for pizza but for parms, pastas, and even cheesecake. I'm lucky because I live right nearby, but if I didn't I'd still travel here to get slices. Truly exceptional stuff. Friday, February 24, 2023 around 5 p.m.ish. Had to grab a bite before an event down the block. Walked greeted by the lady and younger gentleman at the front. Ordered 2 Sicilian Slices and bottle of Pepsi. I grab a table toward the back which the young man came a wiped down for me. The lady brought over my pizza which she made sure was nice and hot for me. My boyfriend moved to Williamsburg recently and had randomly chosen this spot to Uber Eats to his apt. After our first mouthwatering experience with Chiara's we decided to order again for pickup. We happened to arrive early to pick up our pizzas and were met with the warmest greeting from the staff who allowed us to observe the cooking process, and even help out with the hot honey drizzle! It was evident how much love and care the chef puts into his pizzas, and how passionate he was about bringing over his skills and flavors from Naples, Italy. We ordered the ham and pineapple pizza (with no look of judgement from the staff!) and the arugula and prosciutto pizza that came with a complimentary garlic knot! Man, I love this place. Before the pandemic, it was a solid neighborhood no frills pizza joint. Then the owner closed for a few weeks to visit his family in Italy, and when he returned, the offerings had undergone a Cinderella-like transformation. The pizza toppings have gotten more varied, but never too weird. The pizza itself is even tastier and the grandma slice is no joke. (Try that one for sure.) There's a sopresata slice with hot honey that's to die for, if you're into meat. It's fun to go in and try whatever they have on hand. I recently discovered their pasta dishes. It's a struggle not to order the baked ziti every day. And the generous portions of that homemade meat sauce, damn. If you get there on a day when the owner makes his homemade cheesecake, get it! It's light, with just a hint of lemon and anise. Everyone who works there is sweet. When it's chilly outside, it's always cozy and warm inside, and despite still being no frills with a handful of tables, it's an extremely comfortable place to wait for your slice or to sit and eat. Went here last night to grab a quick slice because I was seeing a show at the venue across the street. Was completely blown away by the amazing Margarita slice. Apparently its a different sauce than the regular pizza - its a MUST try. One of the best I've ever had...the dough and crust were just delicious too. On my way home from work I decided I'd grab a pie and some garlic knots. Ordered on Uber eats at 7:30 pm i was updated through the app that my food was ready at 8:00. I went inside to check on it. My food was not ready So I sat and waited for another hour. Before the gentleman making the pizza even started preparing my order. To add insult to injury he managed to make 3 personal pies before getting to me, for customers who walked in around 8 when my food was supposed to already be ready. Total disregard and disrespect. BEST PIZZA IN NYC! I have tried loads of slices in the city, but nothing comes close to Chiara's, it's a small family run local spot with so much love and care put into the food.
