    When they have nutritional yeast in the pizza shop you KNOW its too gentrified... overall this is the type of place I would generally avoid due to all the hipsters, I was rushing to work and did not have much choice on Bedford Ave so figured I would try it... cannot hurt right?! Around $7 a slice and yes I did put nutritional yeast. It was decent. All staff is hipster and atmosphere very hipster.

    Absolutely yes. Just walk in don't then think about it. I came to visit a friend and they raved about his place and their specialty elote pizza. And wow. It was to die for. The crust, the toppings, I also got a buffalo chicken pizza. They have the cutest ninja turtles bench outside. Before I left back home to LA I ordered a whole elote pie and took it back home with me! I can't wait to go back.

    A Williamsburg staple. As the neighborhood changes it's always to come back to this spot and get a good slice after a night out. It's consistent, reliable and has seating. It's a fun spot to just hangout at alone or with friends. The staff is pretty cool, they called me by my name the last time I was there and that made the experience even greater. Highly recommend for a good slice.

    I stopped by here with a friend on a Saturday night around 7:15pm. There are only a few tables inside and none were available when we were there, so we ended up sitting on a bench outside. I had a meat lover's slice, which was good. The crust was especially sturdy.

    ABSOLUTE YUM!! If you love elote this pizza was perfect. It definitely can sell out but we got lucky as they were able to make it for us. It was so good and fresh like it hit the spot and was so cheap! It's a local joint so definitely people are going in and out. A must try if you are in Brooklyn and looking for a delicious warm slice of pizza. There's a few seats inside and it can get busy but usually can get in and out in a few minutes. It's a casual please so kind of perfect after a night out.

    I'm not really into Williamsburg's hipster aesthetic or bougie yuppie culture, but I was hungry for pizza and noticed Vinnie's Pizzeria standing out among the rest. Maybe my childhood fondness for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) prompted me to walk in, and I was glad to see they had pizzas you wouldn't ordinarily find elsewhere. I tried the Mexican corn pizza, which they nailed--it was as sweet and savory as the actual dish. For $6, it was a little pricey, but I shrugged it off because the slice was excellent. I'm still a TMNT fan, as much of the comic and media represents NYC's goofy and colorful culture with retro art. This pizzeria feels like an old-school spot with a new generation running it. Part of me felt like a teenager hanging out at a cozy hangout. It's clean, the music is a mix of '60s and '70s Motown, and the diversity of the clientele and staff is noticeable. This place definitely has Turtle Power!

    While I enjoy snazzy, overpriced thrift stores in New York as much as the next person -- walking around definitely made me hangry after a while, and to my delight, Vinnie's Pizzeria was just down the street (and was a restaurant I had added to our New York itinerary). It was almost like I was destined to try Vinnie's. Space was tight; I probably saw about three tables present, and it was around 2 pm, so it was not as busy. Overall, the vibes were cozy, and the worker taking my order had a bright, infectious energy, so the service was top-notch! I ordered an Elote pizza and KBBQ-inspired pizza, both unique flavors. Two large slices were $12, so I like to think I got my money's worth. - Elote Pizza: (4/5) While the pizza was delicious, I hoped for more of a "punch" in flavor. The Elote taste was rather subtle and, at times, tasted more like cheese pizza with corn on top. The addition of chili flakes helps, though! Regardless, I found the slice enjoyable, not too heavy/greasy, and I recommend that others try it. A safe but unique option. - KBBQ/Spicy Korean Pizza: (3.75/5): This was a brand new flavor, and where else am I going to find KBBQ-inspired pizza? So I bit the bullet and ordered it. Interestingly enough, this one had the opposite problem from the Elote pizza because it had a very STRONG flavor that was almost overwhelming. I don't remember the exact ingredients, but I recall a BBQ sauce drizzle and crispy onion flakes on top, which was a nice addition! There was a spicy kick as well. It was enjoyable for a bit, but I found the pizza to be borderline salty at times, so it's not something I'd order again. There was an evident KBBQ taste, however, which was fun! But a cup of complimentary water would have been greatly appreciated... Some of my friends had differing opinions, but I think Vinnie's Pizzeria is worth stopping by!

    My favorite pizza shop! Small inside but the pizza is worth the crowd. Staff is always so nice and has a great vibe. My go-to is the elote slice. Absolutely slaps. They have all the fixings on the side as well including hot sauce, barbecue sauce, Parmesan, etc. They are open late on weekends and give a discount if you pay in cash!

    My husband and I went borough/brewery hopping (not driving, of course) and knew we had to stop here before heading over to Brooklyn Brewery. He got the pepperoni, and because I used to live in the RGV and have a soft spot in my heart for elote, I went with that since I have never tried it on pizza before. First off, the crust was FANTASTIC. It was perfectly crispy (but not overdone or in a hella crunchy, "is this going to break my teeth out?" kind of way), and had a nice, doughy "chew", even though it wasn't chewy OR doughy, if that makes sense. Also had a GREAT fold to it. I usually hand the end crust over to my husband because most of the time it gives me the feeling of gnawing on a bone. This crust is the opposite - like a bread stick without the weird flip mode texture. The pizza itself -- Pepperoni was the better of the two, in our opinion. The Elote was overall good, but (and this is me being somewhat of a Mexican street corn priss) it would have been better if the corn was 'charred' in a pan first and/or if they added a drizzle of lime crema (or even just offered a lime wedge or a shake of Tajin with each slice to bring out the flavor a bit more) BUT again, that's just me being nitpicky. It definitely satisfied our pizza craving. The staff is suuuuuper friendly and they accept credit cards. One final thing to note - we also tried Joe's on Carmine when we hit up Manhattan a few hours later and both agreed hands down that Vinnie's was the better of the 2 (Sorry Joe's!)

    The elote slice is an elite slice that you can find at vinnies. This shop is a simple shop that does things really well. The workers are nice and welcoming and they heat your slice up in record time. The flavors of the elote are amazing, and it's a super sexy slice to take pics of. Well worth it to slide by and grab a slice or two when you're in the city.

    Yes we do sell pizza dough. $3 for small and $4 for large.

    They don't sell elote as a pie? I was looking at their menu on their website & they don't have elote as an option?

    They regularly change up their menu every few days. I know they had elote as one of their options on a day I visited. I would call to ask if they're making it on a day you want to go in.

    Do they do vegan slices?

    Yes they do as well as other vegan options

    Need help from some native New Yorkers? I'm native Brooklyn but haven't been back in years. So pizza is a religious experience. Looking for real deal from my roots. How's this place stack up? Otherwise, please advise.

    Not the best pizza I've ever had in brooklyn or NYC but they do have some more creative slices. Like they put Mac and cheese and BBQ chicken or nacho sauce on a slice. But they switch up their specials every few days. Worth trying at least once!

Their blunt comments maybe embarrassed the hostess because only then did the hostess look at me rather than past me, and ask "how many..." she was ready to tell us there was no availability when I answered that we were a party of four as she looked around the dining room and gestured as if to say 'no seats'. I added that we had a reservation for 10 minutes ago. She asked my name and checked her tablet, then said "ok" and sat us at the table by the door. Once we were seated and situated, my young daughter looked up from her menu and asked me why was everybody else helped before us? She honestly didn't know. For those not familiar with having these types of conversations, let's just say that they can make even the best tasting pasta and pizza unsavory if you dwell on it. It's bad when a 7 year old notices they were "othered". Your mileage may vary, I'm sure there is more than one hostess working. I don't think I would recommend Barbalu to everybody unless you're getting take out, or you don't mind a "fight" to get service, assuming you insisted on eating here.

Seems a bit out of place next to a deli on a residential block. You can kind of miss it if youre not paying attention. We were a party of 6 and had a 5 PM reservation. You have to pass through this dark curtain and go to the middle of the bar where the host will greet you and bring you to your seats. We were seated promptly with no wait. The restaurant is VERY small. So much so that at our table, all I had to do was reach my hand out and I would have been touching the kitchen counter. It does get a little crammed/crowded, but not in an annoying or unbearable kind of way. The vibe is actually really cozy and rustic. Very dim lighting so either whip out the flashlight on your phone or hold up one of the real candles they have on the table to read the menu. The food menu is straightforward and simple. They have an extensive wine list. I love how on the food menu, next to each dish, they tell you the region of Italy that dish gets its roots from. They have lovely dinnerware here. They brought out a foccacia bread for the table with a tomato dipping sauce. Absolutely delicious foccacia. The sauce was a tad too salty for me. I started off with the mocktail Luisa. It was passion fruit, lemon, agave, ginger beer, and mint. It was $10 and very fresh and mouthwatering! For my appetizer I had the Calamari alla griglia. Grilled calamari with guacamole and carasau bread. I've never had grilled calamari before. Only either marinara or fried. I also thought pairing it with guacamole was an interesting twist. I was so pleasantly surprised by this dish. The calamari were perfectly fork tender grilled. The guacamole went well with it. The carasau bread was more like a tortilla chip. They give you a decent amount for $24.95. That app slid down my throat effortlessly! For my entree I had the Maccheroncini alla Norma. Maccheroni with eggplant in tomato sauce with ricotta cheese. The pasta was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The sauce reminded me so much of my Calabrian grandmother's. The ricotta made it rich and creamy. Filling as well. So much so that, even though it wasn't a huge portion, I had to take home half of it because I was verging on being stuffed! My mother had the Cotoletta alla milanese. Keep in mind that if you get this chicken cutlet dish that it serves about four people, even though its for 1! HUGE portion. About 4 enormous cutlets that gave my mom 3 days of leftovers! All of the desserts were $12.95. A nice selection to choose from, but I had the classic Tiramisu. They make it here tableside. He made it with such care. Loved watching him put it all together. Let me tell you, that was the BEST Tiramisu that I've EVER had! Wow, just amazing. Very balanced, quality ingredients. The marscapone was so decadent, creamy and fresh. I could have easily taken down 2 of them! I tried some of my mother's chocolate cake. Delicious and decadent. Service throughout our dinner was above and beyond. Attentive, kind, concise and our waiter was such a cutie! Smooth sailing throughout the entire meal. We barely had to wait for anything. Amazing restaurant and staff. The tagliatelle was also delicious in a more ragu centric way, still offering a good balance of flavor. Both dishes were pretty filling and so neither of us could finish it. We ended the night with cannolis, which was a pleasant surprise to find 3 came in 1 order. One side is pistachio while the other had a coco dusting. These were again delicious but pretty filling and sweet so we could only eat one. The staff here was also very friendly and service was quick with food coming out much faster than I expected. Overall I would come back and try even more on their menu.

The service was great, and our server gave us great recommendations. Inside has lots of seating and it is moody, more of a date-night vibe. We ordered three pastas and two appetizers. All were overall great! They are known for their focaccia, and it was good! Definitely one of the focaccia I have had, most end up being too oily but this was perfect. We also got the mussels, and they were good as well, the butter sauce it is dosed in is not too heavy and pairs well with the bread. The Mafaldini was the biggest portion size, and it was also good, but we preferred the other pastas more. The best pasta was definitely the agnolotti!! Though the portion size was smaller, every bite was so delicious. Overall we had a great time here!

With today's social media heavy and influencer dominated marketing, this restaurant sits on a quiet street in Brooklyn just going about its business. Known as an Italian red sauce shop that served all walks of life, including possibly the mafia, this place has seen it all. If only the walls can talk, I could imagine all the stories it holds. Our friendly waiter has been there for 20+ years and shared some of his experiences and memories. It was a nice bonus to our meal for four. For appetizers, we had some Clams Oreganata (8/10), Fried Calamari (8/10), and Roasted Peppers w/ Anchovies (8/10). I would say that these three starters were the highlights of the meal. The entrees were not bad, just not as outstanding as their appetizer counterparts. My favorite of the bunch was the Eggplant Parmigiana (8/10), which was delicious and well made. The other three items, Pork Chop alla Bamonte's (6/10), Ravioli w/ Meat Sauce (7/10), and Rigatoni w/ Sausage & Broccoli Rabe (7/10), were all decent, but nothing special. By the end of the meal, four of us all agreed that it was a fun experience. With all the great options for Italian cuisine in NYC, it's not somewhere that stands out enough for regular visits. The veal was thin enough and with an equally thin layer of eggplant and mozzarella covering it and emerssed in a white wine sauce I couldn't decide what part was my favorite. I still can't decide but I will say I must go back and try it again. I thought that the dish looked small but I couldn't even finish half of it pan my own even though it was compelling me to devour the entire thing! Truly, don't even think of going without trying that dish for yourself. The staff was some of the most attentive I've ever come across. We had fresh plates and silverware after every course. We didn't need to look for a waiter at all for they were there seeing to our every need. And the patrons all looked like they were enjoying a special night out because this is truly a special place. Great food, great atmosphere and a wonderful night out!
