I am not sure what happened here, maybe I was burnt out on good pizza, but when I came to Macoletta, I was expecting something of great quality, considering the reviews. The service was really good, we sat down immediately, and we were offered drinks. The space was nice, somewhat quiet for a Saturday afternoon. We ordered a custom pizza, Kalamata olives and mushrooms, and even though the ingredients were good, the pizza itself was not amazing. Yum, yum, yum! Macoletta knows how to make delicious pizza!!! We ordered a large half-in-half pizza with margherita on one side and bresaola stracciatella on the other side. The margherita side was very good - the tomato sauce is simply lovely. The bresaola side was packed with flavor - the bresaola was smothered in stracciatella and sat on top of the argulua and light tomato sauce. Decided to stop by this place for pizza. The pizza didn't taste bad. However, on my second slice there was a long piece of what was either hair or fabric fiber. My drink had fruit flies in it. I did get a new one after speaking up but I never said anything about the pizza because I was exhausted about complaining . Hands down the best gluten free pizza I have ever had! The crust actually had some fluff to it and the texture was very similar to flour crust. The service was also great! Originally ordered a gelato but they didn't have gelato so they substituted with the cannoli. Since this was a pickup order, it would have been nice if the restaurant had handles on their bags. Went here for a pizza making class for my sister's birthday. The owner is so kind and passionate about what he does. He is also very knowledgeable. Before the pizza class started, he gave us a good informative presentation about the history of pizza, the origin of Macoletta, and the important ingredients! The drink was DELICIOUS as well. What a gem! My boyfriend took me here for a pizza-making class to celebrate our one year anniversary and we had a blast! The owner, Walid, is super nice and super passionate about pizza. He started the class with a small presentation which showed how knowledgeable and genuine he is about what he does. I definitely will consider this as a birthday party idea with friends. For the class, we made a Margherita pizza. Although we did not make the dough from scratch, you are able to shape it and toss it out into about a 10in circle. Walid was very informational and took his time when going through each step. When we tasted it, it was some of the best pizza I've had. It has the perfect amount of chewiness and crunch to it. The taste was balanced equally and no ingredient was overpowering the other. Was definitely impressed by how fun, educational, and delicious this class was! The class also comes with two drinks so I got "Where's Walid-o" and a glass of their newest Cabernet and both were excellent and not too strong. At the end of the class, Walid made us a Nutella pizza which was delicious - not too sweet, not too much bread or Nutella, and just the right amount of crispy crunch to it. The spicy pepperoni was, Calabrian chili, honey, and tomatoes were the perfect combination that I've never actually had on a pizza before. We started with the Caesar which was a normal Caesar. This is a charming place to be. We ordered beet salad with arugula and goat cheese, which was very fresh and tasty. We also ordered the cheese and mushroom pizza, which melts in the mouth. This is a white pizza and is not soggy or oily. The crudo pizza, a tomato-based pizza, was terrific, the prosciutto was fresh, and the presentation was incredible. The center of the pizza had a flower made with the prosciutto. The mini cannoli is also delicious. We loved the service and the atmosphere of the place.
