We were looking for the best place to buy a new pair of running shoes for Mr. Picky and decided to try this place. What a great experience! We had a very knowledgeable salesperson who didn't try to sell us up, but rather focused on the best correction and fit for the circumstance. We went a little upscale but would have paid more just in an effort to get the perfect shoes, but we left feeling we had bought the best running shoes for the circumstances based on everything he told us. Our salesperson was able to describe the pros and cons of the various models and answered all of our questions, so I would highly recommend going there. read more

I came in on a weekend to get some advice on shoes and other gear in preparation for a half marathon I'm training for. I got helped right away by an employee - I think his name was Pierre - who quickly measured my feet and talked to me about the kind of shoe that would work best for me. He then brought be a selection of three shoes and helped me select a few other items. In short, I was able to get my stuff quickly and have been having some fun putting miles in my new shoes. YES! Being frugal (and poor), i don't buy shoes often, and only when necessary. Knew it was time to go shopping when my 14 year old pair of New Balance 856s opened right up into two parts (delaminated). The shop where i'd bought them had moved fairly far away. They're still around and have good reviews, but Run With Us has at least as good reviews, is much closer to me, and has one less Yelp $ for pricing (mmmm good), so i went in. Given that my body and life circumstances have changed over 14 years, i didn't want to merely buy the same sort of shoe i already had online: i wanted a new professional fitting. The footwear expert whose name i fail to recall did an outstanding job. (I feel it's OK that i don't recall his name for this review because everyone there i saw helping other people were also doing excellent jobs.) I explained my situation and my needs and goals. He took some measurements both on the traditional foot measuring device (using it more precisely than i've seen people use these in the past), and on a high-tech foot pressure point measuring system. He also studied the wear patterns on my worn-out 856s, which i'd worn in to the store. In a few brief minutes he returned with a big stack of options (since i'd specified i didn't care about brand, etc.)--something like 8 pairs. He gave me plenty of time and space to try each of them on, answering my questions and helping other customers in between. All were really good shoes, and only one pair was obviously incompatible with my particular feet. Did A-B tests with one brand/model of shoe on the left foot and a different one on the right, to help me narrow the options down. With plenty of testing of standing, sitting, walking, and running (sprints in the store and just outside), i narrowed it down to two finalists. I asked the footwear expert to please tell me about the manufacturer's claims for why they thought their shoe was best, why he chose each of these particular pairs for me, and any related information. His explanation, especially why he chose these pairs, was very helpful to me and my final decision making process. Final round: asked about prices and colors, made my final choice, dropped my dead shoes in their shoe recycling bin, checked out, wore my wonderful new running/walking shoes home. They're still on my feet as i type this, seated in my comfy chair. To me, outstanding expertise and personal service like this is worth paying for, especially for something like running shoes which can have so many effects on health as well as comfort. I'd be OK making the longer trip to the new location of the store i used in the past--they did me well. Run With Us did me at LEAST as well if not BETTER, and they're closer! My feet have been SAVED from so much pain. I recently started working out much heavier with lots of running (OTF) and I noticed every time I'm done with a workout I'm limping home. I prioritize my health and I wanted to see what is the deal with my foot. After lots of googling I figured I was having issues with my posterior tibial (flat footed girl). My colleague recommended this place since he's native in Pasadena and I don't regret coming here. I was helped out by a super nice gentleman (forgot the name but they're all good!) he thoroughly explained why I had my pain, my stepping pattern, and brought out 5 pairs and let me take all the time narrowing it down. I landed on my New Balance and priced around $150. Higher prices yes but totally worth it. Since wearing these shoes I've had no after foot pain. He also recommended me insoles for my other sneakers that don't offer the same support and I could not be happier. Run With Us has an immense amount of knowledge for a small mom and pop shop. I was surprised when I came in and saw the amount of running products they had in their shop. When I walked in, I probably looked lost because I didn't know where to start. However, Victor asked me if I had any questions and I told him I wanted new shoes, but didn't know where to start. He measured my shoe size, used a electronic foot reader to see my pressure points, and then brought out a few pairs of shoes for me to try. He was patient and got each pair ready for me before I finished trying on the previous pair. After trying on each pair, he brought out more shoes until I tried on about 10 pairs. He made sure to ask how each of them were so he could improve his recommendations and change the lacing on the pairs where I had some difficulty. After finding an ideal pair of shoes, I asked him about insoles and he recommended me three different types based off of the shoe type I was going to use it for and also my arch. Lastly, I asked him for recommendations on knee compressions and he gave me two based off of what I requested. Overall, I came out satisfied with my purchase and will definitely come back for some more specialty gear in the future! read more

I cannot say enough great things about Michelle and the wonderful assistance she gave me at Run With Us!!! I have big awkward feet and poor posture and I just learned that I've been wearing the wrong size and types of shoes for years!! Michelle accurately predicted what issues I had with my feet which the state of the art computer sensors confirmed. I thought I was flat footed but it turns out I pronate inward. You learn something new every day. I've been wearing sizes 11.5/12 my whole adult life and thought I had wide feet that didn't fit most shoe brands. But it turns out I fit perfectly into the brands and sizes Michelle recommended: 12.5 for Brooks and 13 for the ASICS. Mind blowing to me how I was so oblivious to what my feet needed. Michelle set me up with a great pair of both the ASICS and Brooks that are world changing for me. I won't say "Good as it gets" because I have nothing to compare it to, but I really liked this place from my first experience. I am a new runner so I came in here to get a good pair of shoes after a recommendation from a friend. I went in and was greeted quickly and asked if I needed help. I explained to the guy who was helping me (my receipt says Mike) that I was going to start running and wanted some good shoes. He had me take off my shoes and walk to see how I walk. He quickly told me I overpronate (a lot apparently) and that my arches are flat, and went back to get some shoes. He came back with four pairs and explained to me that the best shoes for my feet would provide a lot of support on the arch and be really thick with padding around that area (I am paraphrasing here, LOL). He told me to just try them for which were more comfortable. I liked the pair of Asics he brought. I definitely could have spent a lot less on running shoes at a place like Target but they would not have known what shoes work best for me and which ones would compensate for the overpronation. I was fine spending the extra money for a good pair of shoes. I would definitely come back to this place. read more

Disclaimer: Never purchased anything here. However I've visited numerous times, bringing my friends to this very fine specialy running shoe store for their running/walking shoe needs. All of them left extremely satisfied. The staff are very knowledgeable about all their products and are very patient and friendly as well. Just like the Snail's Pace or the Road Runners, the prices aren't cheap (most products are sold at msrp), but you are supporting a great local business and getting a type of knowledgeable customer service/satisfaction you won't get out of Big5, Sports Chalet, Sports Authority, Foot Locker etc etc etc. Also they have weekly run club that meets at the Rosebowl which i used to go out to every week. But then they changed the days to weds? and I haven't been able to make it out since. It's a great group of ppl. I will never run with foot locker ever again. I got my Brooks running shoes from Run With Us. I was not sure what to expect since it was my first time in a store that specializes with running shoes. I also have a prior knee injury so I was hesitant to explain my condition to a random person. To my surprise, the guys and ladies that work here were professionals. If I remember the name correctly, Mike helped me pick the correct shoe for my bum feet by carefully observing my feet while I was walking. I started running with the running group of RWU on Mondays in January. I took a whole year off from running and decided the only way I'll get back to it is to surround myself with runners. When you're coming back from a year break of running, the store is a bit overwhelming and impressive at the same time. I realized I had been running with my Nike freerun and it was starting to cause a problem. So after I hit the 10th mark of running with another group (Dog Haus), I went straight to RWU and purchased running shoes that fits my running style and the miles I'm quickly accumulating, Hoka Clifton. Whenever I'm in the store, I would usually talk to one of the associates and ask them for their feedback on certain shoes and they gave me their honest opinions (based on experiences) and it helped since most of them are runners themselves. I am satisfied with my new running shoes and now getting ready for the LA Marathon. Well...If you plan to run, you should buy a good pair of running shoes. You should look for shoes that fit your specific type of feet. I think...it really depends on who you get to fit your shoes. The first time I went, the shoes that were recommended for me really hurt my feet. The soles of my feet were burning and I had pains in my knees. Turns out, the arch support in the Sauconys were not suitable for me. I ended up purchasing another pair at a different store that fit me better. HOWEVER, I will say that they have a fabulous return policy. If the shoes don't fit your feet, you can return them in 10 days EVEN IF you've worn them outside. This is very good...because we never know with running shoes until we run... But, make sure you get the right salesperson to fit your feet. I wish my experience was more positive...but...I have known several of my friends who've went and found perfect shoes....so....keep an open mind. read more

The doctor recommended this shoe store to help my runner's knee. This was my first visit and yes the parking was small. (Just like everyone said it would be). However, I went today at around 3pm and it wasn't bad, it wasn't crowded at all and we parked right in front of the back door. About the shoes.....well, my husband bought me a New Balance pair for $150 bucks. Yep (It's still stinging his wallet too). Anyway, the shoes fit incredible. I tried on about five to six different pairs. And yes, the shoes aren't cheap here. I seem to have a recurring pain in my knee that has spread all the way to my ankle. So, if this helps, i don't mind the cost. The staff is very knowledgeble about the shoes they suggest. The store carries workout attire as well. Although, it does look expensive, i'd probably shop somewhere else for that. All in all, i had a great experience. As long as this helps me, i would definetly return again for a new pair in a year. read more

The workers are runners and athletes themselves so they offer great insight on not just running shoes, but also the sport in general like recommending special socks and gels to take on long runs. Because of the numerous restaurants, bars and other eateries found here on Yelp, I had a little issue with pudginess... As a result, I had the brilliant (completely stupid) idea that I'd train for and run a marathon. Seeing how every great (terrible) idea needs a partner in crime, the GF decided she's hop on the running bandwagon to keep me company. Never having run distances before, there was a HUGE learning curve involved and Run With US played a very significant in me not killing myself, my body and my spirit. I was already pretty beaten-up and the GF was practically crippled when someone recommended checking out this place and I really don't think we could have made it more than a couple of weeks. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly guy and asked if we needed help with anything. When I said that we needed help with EVERYTHING, he pretty much started at the bottom (shoes) and worked his way up. It was clear that he was a very experienced runner and knew his way around the products that the store carried. Though some might consider the selection to be a little on the limited side, they carry what you need and save you the gimmicky crap that a lot of sports stores will try and push on you. If you're a serious runner, they've got the gear, supplies, clothes and supplements to get you through it, from 3 to 26.2 miles. The other nice element of the service they provide is that everyone takes on a little different "ritual" when doing their distance running and I've never felt like product or advice was pushed, merely offered when asked. They really push the philosophy of "What Works For You?" and cater the service around YOUR needs. Depending on what you're buying, this place can run a little pricey, but I've found the most frequent purchases are things like Nuun tabs (electrolyte thingys) and sports drink mixes, where their prices are very moderate. One thing to note is they've got a great selection of hydration packs and I had gone through a number before being pointed in the right direction for my personal needs by the staff. Bottom line, great place for beginners and experienced runners under one roof. Recommend it to your friends and keep a great local running shop open! read more

I have been buying my sneakers here for 14 years. I have very flat feet and have always struggled getting shoes that fit, are comfortable and can support my troubled feet. My son also has flat feet and I buy all his shoes there too. They have super knowledgeable staff who understand all feet types and what each foot needs. My son decided to get me a gift certificate with the intention of encouraging me to up my exercise game. Reluctantly I conceded. I'm not a runner. I, do however, walk very fast and for long distances on the treadmill at the gym. My old faithfuls died on me and I replaced them with trendy running shoes. My feet were slowly turning into hamburger and my shins were aching constantly. I walked into the store and was assisted by helpful, but not obsequious, sales associates who look like athletes and were very nice to the middle-aged schoolteacher. Run With Us a great store packed with employees who run themselves and know their stuff. I've purchased 3 pairs of shoes there after being horribly fit with shoes at chain sports store. Nothing against that store but their employees just to have the expertise of a boutique running shop like Run With Us. I have been in different stages of my running experience each time I've purchased shoes or products there. First I was a pretty heavy beginning runner who needed some shoes that would help me get to started without injury. I brought in my old pair of shoes so the folks at the store could see how the soles were being worn down an indication of how I was running I had read. They looked at the shoes and examined my arches and stride and right away said that although the shoes I were wear were from a reputable shoe maker it wasn't made for someone with my arches. I was then able to try on about 6 pairs of different brands and take them outside to run on a bit. The guy that helped me out was patient and answered all of my questions. It was educational shopping trip. I've gone back ever since and always had my questions answered whether buying shoes or not. Recently, I bought some reflective lights so that I could take my 5 am runs without getting hit by vehicle. Not a big purchase by any means but still the sales person took his time with me giving me the + and - of each product and allowing me to make the final well informed choice. Fantastic customer service. Came in wanting minimalist shoes and got fast, one-on-one help. I wound up with the Minimus Hi-Rez (an awesome shoe) and they even gave me a student discount. A week later, the rubber was ripping off the sole. They agreed it was a defect, and let me return them without any hassle, saving me $130.
