First drinks review !! Popped into Rumba on the edge of Capitol Hill on a late Thurs night . The location offers a snug ambience, is adorned with antique furniture, and boasts surf-bar themed decor . We first ordered a round of solo drinks on our own before delving into their recommended classic rum flights . Since we weren't rum connoisseurs, we decided to learn a lil from rum flight 101 . Pina Colada - cold & refreshing, my go-to, creamy, sweetness & alcohol well-balanced Rum Flight 101 - 3/4 oz pours of 4 rums: Appleton Reserve (Jamaica), Barrilito 3 Star (Puerto Rico), Plantation 5 Year (Barbados), Clément VSOP (Martinique); all very strong, favorite was the Appleton Reserve with a strong caramel sweetness and notes of baking spice While I may not be the most ardent enthusiast of rum, I still enjoyed the bartender's detailed explanation of the various rum flavors . She explained the rum origins & lightness differences and patiently answered all of our questions. They sure have an impressive selection of rums to choose from, just check out their wall ! They also serve food including plantain chips, guacamole, and empanadas that I'll order next time I'm back to pair with my rumba drinks . read more

Drinks are good with creative name. Price is fair for the quality we received. Our server is pretty cool she brought us to the bar on the other side to experience different vibe read more

I came here and enjoyed the experience. The service was good and we had a friendly server. The ambiance is cool, have a fish on the wall. I wish I caught a big feeeeeesh. The drinks were good but pretty pricey. Got deviled eggs which were extra devilish. Very yummy. Pricing is what you expect in Capital Hill. Got the Cuban sandwich and it was mediocre. Very dry, needs a sauce like more mustard and pickles. If they did that I would have gave them a 5 star. Parking sucks but that is not their fault. I will be back one day. read more

Mimicking another reviewer's 1-star review from a year ago, today's male server had no time for my party of 5 celebrating my sister's wedding. I'd use a name if it was stated, but there was no intro or cordial greeting by this employee. This was even our second visit to the restaurant since we thought highly of our first experience just a few days prior. That being said, this was the easiest way to spend over $100 in an hour. By the way, 20% gratuity is automatically added for all orders regardless of party size, but it only seems to remove any incentive for good service. We only intended to order one round of drinks each and an order of wings while seated at the closest table to the front, but the service was so slow there were multiple times our whole table had to flag the server down to get the first order in. It wasn't that busy around 6pm, and halfway through finally taking our order, he left the table without clearly saying anything to serve another party who had already been there - just bizarre. After everything was served, we didn't get the right number of plates and got no utensils so we had to flag him down again. When he was nowhere to be seen, we had to resort to asking the kind hostess for utensils. Subsequent check-ins were curt and if we didn't rush to answer then he'd turn around distractedly before we got a chance to finish our sentence. Besides the lack of service, most of the drinks and food were fine, although the Red Wedding barely had any mezcal included and the cocktails mainly consisted of ice. Wings were fine but not as good as the first time. The atmosphere of the whole place has chill oldies music and lots of Caribbean references to set the scene, so that's what we focused on enjoying. Maybe this was just an off evening for the Rumba as a whole, but we will not be coming back as long as anyone working for minimum 20% tips are still on 'island time'. read more

Fun tropical themed cocktail bar! I came here with a group of friends and we were able to make a reservation in advance. They had very interesting cocktails! I got the midnight snack which had peanut butter infused tequila and berries. I highly recommend this drink. We also did a rum flight which was super interesting. I was able to taste different rums which I've never done before. We also got some food which was good. The Cuban sandwich and the Jamaican beef empanada were okay but the star was the plantain chips and guac. We ended up getting 2 orders! read more

Cozy and friendly upscale neighborhood bar - I routinely visit Seattle for business and have been coming here for years. Impressively consistent quality and service - and an impressive collection of rums. read more

Great tiki atmosphere in the hidden lounge. Would like to see more reasonable prices though

Great vibes and delicious drinks! Recommend getting a reservation on weekends due to how many people were there. I love the tropical ambiance and the decor! Highly recommend the frozen pina colada - it was delightful and strong! Absolutely refreshing! I also got the Cuban sandwich which had a great variety of flavors and textures. Great bar to stop by! read more

Fantastic night! Went in intending to have a just a glass of wine, but stayed for a delicious daiquiri and pina colada courtesy of the irrepressibly enthusiastic bartender, Kai. The empanadas were delicious too. We'll be back! read more

The good: charming and hip - great vibes for date night! The meh: I realize this is primarily a rum bar, but I have my go-to drinks (dirty martini, mezcal diet - pretty simple right?) and they said they didn't have the stuff for either. This surprised me since we sat at the bar looking at wall of liquor beyond rum. Whatever - no big. So I mentioned I was open to a rum cocktail, but I hate sweet drinks, so asked for something simple without too much sugar. 3 minutes later the bartender hands me a very red, flowery, sweet punch-like drink in a tall tiki glass. Hated it. The other bartender was able to get me a tequila soda. Tip: be specific on what you want here. read more

First visit to Rumba and will definitely be back! Came in Friday night before seeing a show at the Paramount and wasn't disappointed. Super loud but I don't mind that. Great selection of food without being too much. Service is quick as is the kitchen. It was all so good that I just kept ordering more and more! Standouts for me were the Cuban sandwich, Jamaican beef empanada, and the plantain chips. Drinks were good...caipirinha was balanced and not too sweet as was the mezcal old fashioned. Very nice tiki atmosphere and the food is great. (Shhh...there's an even better speak-easy tiki bar attached).

First time visiting Seattle and this was walking distance and thought we'd pop in. It was a Monday so the speakeasy was closed. But still enjoyed our time without a reservation walked in and sat immediately. The host was friendly and also took our orders which was simple enough. The ambiance was fun and pirates decor was cool. It was guest bartender night and they gave her a round of applause which was kinda cool. We tried 2 drinks the Puerto Rican Pina colada and the Surf School Swizzle both were very good and very strong. They say "Rum forward" for a reason. The banana foster with coconut ice cream was a nice snack to kill the rum taste. But it tastes like fair fried food so if you like greasy fried banana go for it. read more

Found this place around 10 pm on a Tuesday. It has an island vibe. We started out with the tropical guacamole with plantain chips. We also got the Rumba burger and a brisket taco and a shrimp taco. The brisket taco was delicious. The meat just melted in your mouth. The shrimp taco had an interesting flavor but the spicy chili sauce saved the day. My husband got the burger and it was big. The flavor on the meat (yes, I tasted it) was ingrained all the way through the meat, it was as tasty. I am not an eater of hamburger so that is saying something. The waiter was really nice and seemed to keep up with the island theme. If you live your rum they have a 34 page rum list. Some very interesting cocktails as well read more

Go to this spot if you want delicious tacos, empanadas, and/or cocktails! I highly recommend the mushroom taco and the chorizo empanada. If you're willing to venture into the land of spicy cocktails the Sierra-Mix-A-Lot packed a deliciously spicy punch! Oh, and, if you're a guacamole person... just don't even think twice about trying the guacamole here! read more

This place is wonderful. A real hidden gem if you ask me. After seeing a show in the neighborhood, a friend and I stopped here for a bite to eat. Sam was our server and he was very friendly, informative, and attentive. I ordered the guac, an empanada, and a taco (I was in a peck ish mood). Everything we ordered was really flavorful, savory, and so very satisfying. I certainly would order more than one empanada next time around. You can expect to find the restaurant decor eclectic, clean, and inviting. There are a decent number of tables given this place looks super tiny from outside. I took note of several larger parties of 6 or more so keep that in mind if you're looking for a fun place that can accommodate a bigger group; I would just recommend calling ahead. I really look forward to come back with the wife in the very near future ;) cheers! read more

Average drinks, good vibe. Feel like the line is kinda chaotic. They had two people checking people in and because of the way they added names, the people that came in behind me got seated first which was annoying. Completely avoidable situation. This was the best meal I've had in a long time!!!! Everything was so flavorful and was sweet and savory at the same time. Guac was delicious and had mango in it. The chips they give are delicious too. Had the fried chicken sliders and they were perfect. Slaw gave it a great crunch. Sweet potato fries are good as well. MUST GO HERE!!! Had to order to go and it was still so delicious. read more

Must make reservations!!! It's always fully booked! So good luck:) Anyways, they have pretty good premium rum for cocktails. I personally love Pina colada the most because it's the sweetest and taste the alcohol least. Red wedding would be in the stronger side. The whale is super cute and mai tai is so refreshing! read more

Easily one of my favorite bars in Seattle -- the vibes are immaculate and, as the name implies, Rumba serves up lots of great rum drinks. It's a great spot for a smaller group and there tends to be a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it. The ambiance and decor is super fun -- they have a tropical theme and tiki bar vibe, a nod to their sister bar, Inside Passage. It's great to sit back and soak in the great vibes while sipping on their drinks. The servers were really fun and gave great suggestions, too. The drinks are truly SO. GOOD. Everything we tried was delicious and well-crafted -- my personal favorite is the piña colada (blended) but I also love the Mai Tai and Red Wedding! I plan on bringing all of my out-of-town visitors and friends here! read more

Great Rum bar (as it's name suggests) with a huge selection of rum. They offer lots of cocktails, but you're free to sip on their wide selection of rum as well. If I had more time here, that's definitely how my night would have progressed (or devolved). I only had time for one drink before I had to go to Inside Passage, so it was a decision between their rum-forward originals or The Smokin' Room. On the one hand, I wanted to enjoy rum drinks at a rum bar but on the other hand I have a really hard time turning down smokey cocktails. My desire for smokey drinks won out and I got The Smokin' Room. Definitely has a smokey taste to it! But you can taste the amaro and bitters too. I really liked Inside Passage for it's creativity but I think Rumba has the better drinks and I would love to spend another evening here sometime exploring more of their cocktails and diving into their rum selection. Definitely a rum-lovers paradise. read more

Most of the food was very good. The service was slow but they were very polite about it. The guacamole with plantains was a very good and very popular appetizer. Wife had the shrimp tacos. Said the shrimp were very good and very fresh. Son said the same thing. The beef taco was excellent. Smokey and tender. I had the Cuban. Not a fan. The bread was sweet. The ham was not. The bacon was so thin as was the ham. And the pork slices were tough and kinda gamie. Overall the tacos took the win. read more

The food was amazing we came up from Houston,TX and this was by far the best food we had out here all weekend. So much so that I am writing this review in the restaurant. We had the tacos and empanadas which were delectable. We tried the vegetarian option as well and all flavors were amazing. The drinks were well crafted. The dessert was top tier. We were ill prepared to how well this food would be. Very upset that they aren't in Houston but PLEASE MAKE SURE TO VISIT!! read more

Never been to a rum bar. Usually when I think of rum, I think of rum and Coke. Not here! They do delicious craft rum cocktails. After landing in Seattle and trying to look for a place to drink that was open past 9pm (due to Covid), we stumble upon Rumba. It was busy. We sat at the bar and got to enjoy normalization. We got the rum daiquiri, lychee thieves, rum mai tai and rum old fashion. It all tasted very good. Very Smokey. The cocktails were too sweet or sour, perfect balance. We also got a Cuban sandwich to share. It was good. Pretty different from what I'm used to, like never had it with bacon. It works though. Great place if you like rum or just good craft cocktails in general. read more

The non alcoholic drinks!! "Just for the Halabas" was SO GOOD. Maybe the best non alcoholic cocktail I've had ever. Coconut cream, canraloupe flavor, tasted like a bomb tropical beach drink. The food was decent. Nothing mind blowing, but not bad at all. We had multiple guac and plantain chips and I also had the Cuban sandwich which I enjoyed! The vibe and the drinks are what make it fun - I'd come again for the Halabas drink, but might skip the food next time (other than the guac!) read more

Service is super slow here. But the drinks & empanadas were SO GOOD. I would come back here just for their beef and chicken empanadas. Their Cubano was good, it was a bit oily overall. We came here on a whim with friends when we were in the area and highly recommend this place. The quality of the food and drinks was bomb, and we loved the vibes. The service could have been better, but it was a busy Saturday night, so it's understandable that the server may have been overwhelmed. We loved the decor, which went along with the Caribbean-Island vibes and music. FYI, if you come here, getting some drinks at Inside Passage next door is a must, you will not regret it! read more

Fun place and vibe - good assortment of tiki / rum inspired cocktails. The food wasn't as good as the drinks in my opinion. The guacamole was decent, but the ceviche was one of the worst I've ever had. The shrimp were so tiny (reminded me of bait) and hardly any citrus. The chicken sliders were decent but small. It wasn't too busy until after 6pm. We started with drinks and food here while waiting for a table at Inside Passage. I do find the cocktails here more balanced and nuanced and appreciate the large selection on the menu. I also ordered the pina colada, which was just okay. There is a lot of ice in these drinks but for me, that's no problem since I tend to want a lot of drinks at tiki bars. read more

My friend, and fellow cocktail aficionado and expert I might as, took charge of planning our dinner before our show at the Paramount. Just a couple blocks away so perfectly located. The drinks were AMAZING...first the Pina Colada, some food and well one of my staple phrases "Long Story Short". *chefs kiss* The corn dogs were yummy as well as the guacamole with plantain chips. Check he wasn't my cup of tea, tasted too fishy but they totally redeemed themselves with the Banana Foster which we gleefully shared. Yum! Service was very attentive, witty and even made a point to get us out in time like we asked. Will be back! read more

Very tasty drinks! Enjoyed those! They are definitely a busy place which is great! The only reason why I'm not giving a 5 stars is because the empanadas are very doughy and not enough filling. I also think they should dust more frequently. read more

Amazing cocktails! Great vibe! Quick service! What else do you need for a great cocktail bar? I have been to Rumba quite a few times and it never disappoints.
