Went to breakfast because food is usually pretty good. Ordered the veggie omelette and my friend ordered pancakes. Waiter was very efficient and polite. Then came the nightmare. A family with three small children came in and they were seated two booths away. The children began screaming and standing and jumping on the seats and banging the silverware. Do the parents do or say anything as all of the other customers stared at the debacle taking place as we're all trying to enjoy a peaceful breakfast? Nope, not a darn thing. So, I ask our waiter to please bring over his Manager. Still, the small children are continuing to scream and jump up and down on the seats. Now it's been going on for about 15-20 minutes. The Manager comes over and asked me if everything is OK. My response is that the food and service are terrific but I thought the sign outside said Ruby's, not Chuck E Cheese. I asked him to please ask the parents to ask their children to stop jumping up and down on the seats, stop banging the silverware on the table and to stop screaming which had been going on now for 20 minutes. Are you ready for this? The Managers response to me is, "I cannot do that because we are a family restaurant." I explained to him that there are about 30 booths here and only 3 of them had children and that there are plenty of couples here trying to enjoy their breakfast but cannot because of the clueless, selfish and immature parents. I pointed over to another table with two small children the same age as the out of control children and stated that there is an example of how children should act in a restaurant because, obviously, he thought it is normal and acceptable to allow children to jump up and down on the seats, bang silverware on the table and scream non stop. The Manager again shrugs his shoulders and says sorry there is nothing he can do and glares at me as if to say how dare I ask him to ask the parents to control their children. I guess Ruby Managers do not have to go through Customer Service training nor be apprised of how to handle situations like this. Not to mention, what would happen if one or more of the children slipped and got hurt. Trust me, these type of parents would sue Ruby's so fast. My response to him was, "OK, there is something I or other customers can do. We can choose to politely ask the parents to control their kids which would most likely cause a fight or a ruckus or we can all just choose to never come back. Which one do you think most are going to choose?" Again, the Manager shrugs his shoulders so I respond with, "Trust me it will be the latter since Ruby's does not care about couples without children, only families with children." Worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant I've ever been in. Goodbye Ruby's!! read more
