Finally went to Ruby Sunshine...great location and was stoked about this trip. The food was average at best and nothing at all to be stoked about. The service was the greater concern. The young lady that delivered our food was rude and the table waitress was uninterested in how the food met our expectations. It was 45-minutes from when our drinks were delivered until our waitress stopped by to check-in. Far too much competition in this beautiful little town to survive with this combination of mediocre food and poor service. We have been to Ruby Sunshine 4 times in last 6 months. We have never been disappointed. They do practice lagniappe! Their bacon is some of the best I have ever had. The new check in procedure through works great! The coffee tastes great, just maybe a little strong for some. They do provide cream in a small pitcher which is way better than those small individual servings. read more

First time here. Excellent!! Ordered an omelette with chorizo, fantastic!!! The omelette came with a biscuit, which was the star of the meal. They serve the biscuit with sugar cane and molasses butter - outrageously delicious. Mimosas were excellent, recommend the The Ruby Sunshine mimosa with OJ and Pomegranate. I'm giving this location a 1 because it was my first time here and the food and coffee was rough . I ordered the bam bam biscuit or should I say bam bam rock. The food was barely warm and yes the coffee is bitter. If they can't get a biscuit right I'm not going to give them any more money. Will not be going back. read more

I was really excited to try this restaurant after an enthusiastic endorsement from our Airbnb host. I have to say I was deeply disappointed after spending almost $50 on two adult breakfasts and a small plate for my toddler. First, we didn't even get so much as a hello from our waitress or a cursory "I'll be right with you". I had to go up and ask the hostess if someone forgot where we were sitting because it had been so long and no one had asked us if we wanted a beverage. Next, we ordered the standard 2 egg breakfast over medium with with meat and biscuit. Wow. I don't expect everyone to be able to know how to cook fried eggs but what we got was not even close. It was rubberized egg, almost like it had been microwaved on the plate. And our waitress, after dropping off our food, never came back to ask us how everything was. So we had to flag her down and ask for some new eggs. Our toddler got the kids meal with one egg, bacon slice and toast. We asked for one pancake instead of toast. I was surprised to find they charged us an additional $2.50 on the bill for that substitution. If our waitress had told me that I would have just said forget it. But she never mentioned there would be a substitution fee. All in all, it was not a great experience. I didn't particularly care for the food, although my husband and I agreed the bacon/sausage was good. And my husband really loved the coffee although it was too acidic for my taste. I've been a waitress for years, and a "breakfast place" waitress, so I am very understanding when it comes to busy mornings in that setting. This was not a busy morning. It was Monday morning and maybe a quarter of the tables were filled. It makes me a little sick to think of the amount of money we spent on that meal, especially since we were only in town visiting for a few days and likely will never be back to Franklin. read more

I wanted to love this place because of the location and how the menu read, but I can't. While the Hostess was super and our Waiter good, I did ask about wines and what kind and he had no clue but he thought they had a red or white. Also asked price and he said $7 per glass (check at the end of the meal indicated $10 per glass). I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, on a Brioche bun with Cajun slaw and breakfast potatoes. Chicken was edible but the slaw had no cajun spice whatsoever and was lackluster. Breakfast potatoes were over cooked and served room temperature. Brioche bun was actualy a yeast bun (still ok though). I'm not seeing a great value for the money here. Another person in my group had the BLT and the bacon tasted as if it was cooked several days prior and was chewy - not crisp. I'm hoping you guys take a moment to review this note with your staff. I want to vist again and comment that "It was the best meal I ever had in Franklin". read more

We've been to Ruby Sunshine three times since they opened. As locals, we were glad to have another brunch option in town. I had the Migas the first time and it was very good. The next two times I ordered the salmon and avocado toast. It's delicious and on the lighter side. Good service, a nice atmosphere and a great location! read more

My family had the worse experience this morning, 5/27/19 at Ruby Sunshine which was only compounded by the lack of quality in the way the staffed handled the situation. My family of four arrived and hour after opening at 8am and were promptly seated. I ordered the peacemaker which is any two of their Benedict options and my family ordered two kid meals and my wife ordered just some simple eggs and toast. After a reasonable wait their food arrived but not mine to which I was told it was just coming. 5-7 min later I was told their was trouble in the kitchen and 5-7 min later I was told it was because they ran out of biscuits. By this time, my family is done but what is most interesting is I could see into the kitchen and saw a large order preparing to go out with Benedicts by my own server followed by another serving taking a side of biscuits out to another table. However no regard for the fact I had been waiting while my family had their meal. The only response I got from my server was a sorry and hasty return to the kitchen to process my bill for the food we were served! I guess it is my lesson learned because we had heard this was the experience but felt we would see for ourselves. I cannot believe with as much staff as I saw that this would be the experience and even moreover how they would treat me after the issue happened. We definitely will not be back as their are too many great options in downtown Franklin to pay for that kind of service! read more

Was looking forward to trying Ruby Sunshine, not sure that I would hurry back. I frequently dine out with my family and by myself - I went to Ruby Sunshine alone. Hostess seemed overwhelmed. Not a long wait to sit, but I was put at a single booth by the kitchen. In the booth next to me staff left their drinks and jackets; they stopped by to grab a sip as they were serving. Food was OK; eggs benedict and a latte; both were luke warm. Server met standards and did her job. Overall, Ruby Sunshine needs focus, better processes and probably more staff. And, do not sit patrons in the staff area. read more

As a guy going to Ruby Sunshine, I got to admit the name and the logo really through me off... but when your girlfriend wants a cute brunch spot, you got to do what you got to do... And I am so glad that I did! The food was fantastic. We split the Costa Rican breakfast (savory), the banana pecan pancakes (sweet), and had a buttermilk biscuit with cane syrup butter. Way too much food for us (and I'm a big guy 6'1" 215lbs). Been here twice already and we are going again today. read more

Restaurant was adorable. Staff was friendly. Food was really mediocre. We live a block and a half away so I really wanted it to be great. Both my husband and I ordered omelets; mine was "build your own" (spinach, bacon and Swiss cheese) and he had the "Three Little Pigs". Both were a bit 'liquidy' and lacking flavor. I thought perhaps the lack of flavor might indicate that they were eggs from a carton but we were told they were actual eggs-- perhaps lower quality? Or perhaps it was the fat source; perhaps no butter? Not sure but were both disappointed. We both try to limit our sugar and bread intake, so much of the rest of the menu was off limits to us. We had a good meal at Ruby Sunshine. I had the salad with fried goat cheese. I highly recommend not eating the fried goat cheese ball in one bite, mistaking it for a hush puppy! Second chances. I just finished breakfast here this morning and the wait staff, in particular Don, were simply outstanding. The poached eggs were cooked with firm whites and creamy yolks spilling into a hollandaise sauce that turned my biscuit into a dream. I had eaten here about five weeks-ago and the service-was so appalling and the food such a jumble we were completely turned off. But they have worked through their wobbles and I encourage everyone to come back or come soon. read more

Terribly disappointing. Despite the fact that I have a friend who has dined here at least 3 times and always comes away with something negative, I like to give the benefit of the doubt and to base opinions on my own experience. Went for breakfast around 10 a.m, it was not busy at all (perhaps word is spreading that it is subpar). While 10 a.m. may have been on the later side for breakfast, (but not really when you are only a breakfast/lunch restaurant), I would expect that your menu items be in supply. We had to change orders because they were out of crucial ingredients. The food was okay. It definitely had more of a diner feel than a fresh kitchen. For instance, First Watch has a similar feel in environment and is also a chain restaurant but the quality of food at FW far exceeds Ruby Sunshine. To be fair I feel like RS may do the sugary and indulgent breakfast items well but that's not what we came for so I can't say. If you're looking for fresh, light, healthy, well-seasoned or flavorful, I would go elsewhere. The staff was kind (I had heard otherwise) but disorganized. The atmosphere is on the cold side in the way of decor and seating and noise. also VERY important to note, especially if you are going with little ones, the restroom is not actually IN The restaurant. You have to go through a heavy door and down a flight of stairs. That could be a game changer if you end up taking multiple potty breaks or changing a diaper. Just would have expected and hoped for better, especially for the prime location, which incidentally is why it even got 2 stars. There is definitely room for improvement and I hope that they are able to work on it and make this a more enjoyable place. read more

Waitress (waitress never told us her name) never checked on us once after taking food & drink order, drink order was wrong and food took extremely long time (over 45 minutes from time we placed our order). The waitress passed our table once or twice in that 45 minutes and walked quickly by, never once making eye contact, no apology for the long wait, no asking if we needed anything. read more

After 40 minutes the table next to us who were seated later than us (by about 10 minutes) received their meal. At this point we walked out, won't be back. read more
