I've yet to find any rubies sparkling the sunshine, but with two visits under my belt I've enjoyed both and my belt buckle still fits into the same holes. Shazayum! Certainly somewhere in the neighborhood of brunch heaven, the place is cute, loud, and usually crowded. There's a hint of New Orleans where a good wink-wink, nudge-nudge helps you believe you're knee-deep in centuries of Southern charm. Nah. You're just ankle-deep near a curb on Main Street. Both window and outdoor seating are available for watching folk amble about the Squircle as you enjoy Ruby's menu offerings. (REALITY ALERT: as of this review the online menu is obsolete, out-of-date, a.k.a. different than the printed version you receive at the restaurant.) And be sure to ask about the specials.  Mimosas? Try the house pureed version. Migas (both full and skinny) están sabrosos. The Southern breakfast comforts like home. And the chicken sandwich, though crispy as one of Granny's Sunday fryers, is best tamed with a knife and fork. Your mileage will vary as the server count, crowd size, or the length of the wait list. Some tables may remain unoccupied while you wait in line wondering why you're not at one of those tables. Walk ups are welcome, but you might do better to join the waitlist early. read more

We came for Father's Day brunch and during the time COVID limitations. We started with the Bloody Mary which I guess I had higher hopes for. It was good but nothing spectacular. Then we ordered the candied bacon appetizer. Again not too impressed as it is served cold but it was still tasty. However when our meals arrived we were super impressed. I had the eggs cochon and it was truly amazing. My husband had the migas and the flavor was outstanding. Overall it was a good experience. Going for a birthday brunch and did not disappoint. Last time I ate there I wasn't impressed but so glad we gave it another try. Kids' pancake and slider meals were a lot of food and reasonably priced at $5. Biscuits and gravy, Fried chicken sandwich, "The Peacemaker" and fried green tomatoes were all great! But the signature Bloody Mary, NOLA Iced Coffee, and my favorite the French Trucker coffee were all the best! But what's makes the brunch service enjoyable was the stellar service by Christopher M (Chris) or "Slacker" as he likes to call himself and he is anything but that. The place isn't what it used to be unfortunately. It used to be somewhere I would recommend to folks but with the increased traffic of people and such, the quality has gone down. The place was packed with a typical Sunday crowd, we came in with a party of 8 and was stuffed in a booth with a small table attached which we had to wiggle our way into with one of our party members in a wheelchair. Our waitress was great, she tended to us and the rest of her section as she could which is why I gave 2 stars. We got our order in and addition to our 45 minute wait, we waited another 30-40 minutes before our food came out only to be presented with smaller portions of food than previous and at a noticeable cold temperature. Also, we didn't have any silverware before our food came out and they didn't have any at the ready that the waitress had to assemble silverware sets for us. For the cost of the meals here, I can honestly get bigger portions elsewhere and have leftovers for a better if not same price point. read more

Really enjoyed our brunch! Everything was very delicious! There was a wait but not terribly long. However the wait for food was a bit long, with that being said they have only been open 10 days and they were very busy. The staff was very friendly. When the waitress said the biscuits were huge, she wasn't lying. As musician Jimmy Hall would say, "they were as big as your fist and dripping with sweet creamy butter." (Actually I believe it was maple butter). YUM! They also were great!! So pleased to have a new place for brunch! Make sure to give this place a try! I have mixed feelings on this place. The first time my husband and I went here, it was AMAZING. I thought it was one of the best breakfasts I had had in the Nashville area but the second time we went here, it was a major letdown. The first time I came in here it was on a week day and the restaurant was not busy at all. I had an omelette, breakfast potatoes and the biscuit and cinnamon butter. The breakfast potatoes were cut in large pieces and tasted very fresh and were cooked perfectly. The biscuit and cinnamon butter were delicious. I could tell the omelette was cooked in a lot of butter but it was phenomenal as well and cooked perfectly. The second time we came in, it was a weekend morning and I ordered the croque madame sandwich. The waiter claimed it was his favorite and sadly, I found that the sandwich was pretty much inedible. The meat that was used was fatty and hard to eat. I could not eat it. It came with the same breakfast potatoes that I had last time but they were completely different than the first time we came in. They were tiny and overcooked and not nearly as favorable as they had been before. I was really disappointed in my meal and I really wish I had not listened to the waiter when he said it was his favorite. I should have just ordered the omelette again. I ended up eating my toddler's meal. He got the french toast sticks which were very tasty. My husband ordered the omelet again and he loved his meal. The service here was good but after my last visit here, I don't know that I will be racing back. read more

Everything about this place was excellent. The service was great (shoutout to our waitress Chyler) and so was the food. The Bayou Shrimp and Chicken St. Charles Benedicts were outstanding! I'm still thinking about them 12 hrs later. The grits were perfect, bacon was crisp and not too salty, excellent pancakes. The only thing I didn't like was the Boozy iced coffee. Great service, our server Kyle was friendly and fun. Bloody Mary's were delicious. Food was pretty good. Had the Beignets and those were great! We came with our team for birthday lunch. The food was mediocre. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken Benedict. By no means was this "hot chicken". The flavor was not there. When we got there we told the wait was 5-10 minutes, we waited over 30 minutes. Finally seated, we ordered and it took our food over 45 minutes to arrive. Our server did not refill our beverages, even after asking. When the food did arrive, it was cold. We had already been there an hour and half, and because we were on our lunchtime at work we had to eat and run. We explained we were on a time constraint. No apologies. I fell in love with the original restaurant Ruby Slipper while visiting New Orleans. I was thrilled when I found out that her sister store Ruby Sunshine was opening in Franklin! As a Nashville native, we often have friends/family asking us what restaurants to visit and I've always recommended this location. The biscuits were huge, fluffy - perfection. Everything was amazing. Flash forward to our family birthday celebration on Saturday. There were 6 adults and 3 children. We ordered the cheeseburgers for all 3 children, and 2 adults ordered the biscuits with eggs and fried chicken ($16). My sister and I split an order so we each had one chicken biscuit with half fries. The biscuits are NOT the same anymore. AT. ALL. Half the size - only now they're very dense. You almost have to dip them in water in order to choke them down. McDonalds has better biscuits. I'm sad. This place USED to be amazing, y'all. read more

I came in Sunday morning and I had the biscuits and gravy and my husband had the pineapple upside down pancakes. The biscuits and gravy were the best I ever had and my husband ate every bit of the pancakes! Visited on a Sat morning with friends and were told it'd be a 45 min wait but called after 15 minutes. Good for us but why exaggerate the wait time so much? Bizarre I ordered a Spanish omelette and the home fries were burnt. The biscuit was ok but almost too much. The omelette was good but I'd say small for the price. It was very pricey for a breakfast restaurant. I'm glad we tried the restaurant and I guess they'll keep busy with tourists to downtown Franklin. Wow, we were headed home from Nashville and decided to get breakfast off the freeway and are we glad we did. Sitting at the bar gave us a chance to talk to others around us and the bartender (highly recommended). So the atmosphere is a definite plus, on to the food. I got an omelette and I know how can you mess up an omelette right? It's hard to but this tasted like I made it at home without the mess and dirty dishes. My wife got the chicken and French toast bites. The chicken was crispy on the outside and still moist inside, the French toast bites were delicious with a lot of cinnamon. The honey drizzle was a sweet heat and went well with the dish. The only disappointment was the grits, too runny and not very hot. All in all we'll be back, if you're in the area and are hungry I highly recommend a stop. read more
