Best biscuits I've had on this trip. We came here on a recommendation not knowing they are affiliated with Ruby Slipper in New Orleans. I had a hard time deciding what to get because it all looked and sounded good. I opted for the omelette since it came with a biscuit and grits. I also added a side of sausage gravy. Omelette and grits were good, but the biscuit and gravy were excellent. I wanted to devour it all but it was too much for me. I just don't get it. This place is always busy but it's absolutely terrible. We gave it a second chance after a horrible first experience which included highlights of 90 mins to get food, wrong orders, stale biscuits and just overall bad food and service. After seeing how busy this place is, we decided to give it one more try. Sat at the bar. Took 10 mins to get acknowledged by the bartender. 45 mins to get food (and we got there before the crowd so it wasn't even that busy). I had the breakfast tacos. The eggs were foamy and really odd tasting, the tortillas are chewy, hard and you could barely eat them. My order was wrong, again. I ordered chorizo and didn't get it. The cold brew coffee could take the paint off your walls. I took one sip of it and didn't drink the rest. You could use it to stain your fence. My grits were cold. Not even luke warm... cold. Rice pudding cold. My other half got an omelette with the driest chicken sausage I've ever seen. 1 hour and 15 mins later, we walked out annoyed and feeling like we completely wasted our calories and money.... Again. Does this place have some magic golden dish that we're just not getting? At this point I doubt it, but it's the only thing I can figure out other than it's just another tourist trap in downtown Franklin. Disappointing. We will never go back. read more

Downtown Franklin is a great location and right in the roundabout in the center of the Main Street. This is the second Ruby Tuesday we have tried and it's about the same. Nothing great but not bad. Chorizo omelette was good but small for the price. Biscuits are more dense than most. Not flaky... but biscuits here in Tennessee vary quite a bit. Potatoes were bland. Need some seasoning people! Wife had Strawberry French toast. Basic bread and had 2 strawberries cut in half on top. Asked if that was typical and the waiter said yes but brought out a little cup with a few more which was nice. I would rate this place a 3.5 rather than a 3. I ordered the Skinny Migas and thought it was just OK. Generally speaking, I tried the food that the rest of my party ordered, and thought the overall quality and creativity were average. The Skinny Migas that I ordered was almost difficult to eat because the bed of nachos that served as the base for the toppings was cut so thinly (think Fritos chips) that you couldn't just pick one up with your hand like a regular chip for risk of all the toppings falling off, but you also couldn't stick your fork into the chips or else they would break. We went on a weekend and the wait was 30ish minutes long. I recommend this place to try as I know it's popular around Franklin, but beyond that, I don't think I will return. read more

About a month ago, I decided to visit Ruby Sunshine with a friend. We were visiting from out of town and it was a highly recommended option for brunch. One of my favorite things about this experience was being able to join the waitlist from right here on yelp. From the beginning, it seemed like it would be a top notch experience. The hostess was very kind and the restaurant was very clean with cute decor. However, when we were seated it was clear that our waitress - that I won't name, was having a tough day or just ready to go home. We had never been to the restaurant before so as expected, we had a few questions before making our final decision on food. I was interested in the Seasonal Stuffed French toast but of course I needed to know what the seasonal filling was - our waitress literally had no idea. Thankfully, one of her associates must've overheard her struggle & stopped by to answer our questions which was perfect. Now to the food. I ended up ordering that Seasonal Stuffed French Toast along with a side of bacon but didn't imagine that it would be so "toasted." I didn't bother eating that slice because it would've ruined the flavor of the rest but for $13 I expected quality French toast not anything burnt. I was honestly thinking that the food to make up for the service but I can't say that it did, I won't be returning on my next trip to Tennessee. read more

I had the trifecta which consisted of a biscuit, poached egg, and three different meats (pulled pork, chicken, and some type of Cajun shrimp with a fried green tomato). The chicken was so tough that I had a hard time cutting it with a steak knife, so I gave up on that. The pulled pork was extremely bland and tasted like any pulled pork that you can get from anywhere. And I honestly don't know how to describe the shrimp, it just wasn't good. I did have the peach Bellini which was good (and honestly it's hard to mess those up). My girlfriend had the creamy vanilla spice latte which was actually really good. The nutmeg and whipped cream on top added just the right touch. She also had the smoked salmon omelette which was ok. She loved it and thought it tasted like something I could've made at home. The home style potatoes that came with her meal had a great crunch on the outside but lacked any real flavor. They were just plain chopped up potatoes that were flash fried with no seasoning at all. I'm so sad to even type this review, because I've truly looked forward to this restaurant opening for a long time. I missed out on going to their New Orleans brunch when I was there for New Years and had kicked myself for not going there, so when I found out they were opening a location in Franklin, I was so ecstatic because it's so much closer to me than all the great Nashville brunch places out there. I first tried to go on Mother's Day with my family and even followed other people's tips to check in on yelp ahead of time to join the waitlist. When we first arrived, there was a woman checking people in at the double doors leading into the restaurant. When I approached her and started to say I had checked in on Yelp, she kinda rudely cut me off and directed me to the host stand inside for anyone that had checked in on yelp and said that it would probably still be another 180 minutes. I chalked this up to it being Mothers Day and cut her some Slack for her rudeness. After checking in to the host stand, the 180 minutes was repeated and I realized that was 3 hours we would be waiting and we had a movie to catch. We quickly cancelled our spot and resolved to come back on another day. Yesterday, my friend and I decided to check it out and joined the wait list on our ride over from cool springs. When we arrived, I smiled to acknowledge her and then walked past the host checking people in at the double doors and headed straight to the host stand to check in from the yelp waitlist, since that same woman had told me to do exactly that previously on Mothers Day and I wasn't keen on wasting her time. Unbeknownst to me, that host at the double doors (pretty sure I heard someone call her Vanessa, but not certain as there are three or four hosts up there) was saying things like "where does she think SHE'S going?" In a really hateful tone right in front of my friend that was waiting for me at the door, and my friend quickly spoke up and told her I was checking us in at the host stand since we checked in on yelp first. She again said in a pretty hateful tone to my friend "well that's exactly where she needs to be then" and apparently made some other rude comments I won't repeat. I ended up sitting at the bar and getting a spot for my friend while she went to the bathroom, and we decided to eat there. Apparently this same host also felt the need to tell my friend we needed to cancel our yelp check in, but I had already done that from my phone the minute we sat at the bar. I'm not sure what I did to make this lady so mad, but it really put a damper on the whole experience as she is the first person you interact with when going to this restaurant and we encountered nothing but meanness. I'm not sure why someone that has the personality of "The Hound" in Game of Thrones would choose to be in customer service, but whatever. To top it all off, our food took almost an hour to come out and while I appreciated our bartender communicating with us and checking on it, it really was uncomfortable sitting at that bar for hours in eye and earshot of that rude person. Once the food did arrive, it was pretty good, but not super hot or anything just ridiculously delicious enough for all the trouble it took trying this place out. My friend enjoyed her salmon omelet, and I ordered the cinnamon sugar French toast sticks. The French toast sticks were tasty but a little under-done in the middle. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with the food by any means, but it's somewhat pricey for what you get and I can't justify it when the service here was so rude from the start and we had to wait so long for our food. Maybe things will turn around once they've worked all the kinks out for a new business opening, but there are so many other better brunch places in Nashville and the surrounding area, that I'm not sure I'll ever come back. I wanted so badly for this to be my new brunch spot, but it just didn't turn out that way unfortunately. read more

We normally defaulted to eating in the city because of the amazing choices, but we wanted to keep it local in Franklin for the morning. That's where Ruby Sunshine came into play. My favorite feature of theirs is I'm able to add myself to the wait list on Yelp while still at home! By the time we showed up we only had a 10-15 minute wait, but it would have been 30+ minutes without that feature. The longest wait we encountered was actually for our food - about 30 min. Luckily the food was worth it. My husband ordered 'The Peacemaker' which was any 2 Benedict's over a buttermilk biscuit. His choice of the fried chicken and corned beef were amazing. I ordered the 'Pancake Duo' of cinnamon swirl and bacon praline. I felt the bacon praline was the most innovative and it was really good. I ended up not adding maple syrup to any of my pancakes because they were already sweet enough. I'm really looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of their creations (chorizo, fried green tomato benedict, stuffed french toast). I was excited to see the restaurant in Franklin as I've been to the restaurant in New Orleans. The wait was over 1.5 hours and service was extremely slow. The pumpkin beignets were extremely small and fried to the point where it was hard to chew. Beignets are typically doughy and fluffy on the inside and this was not it. (I did too) Without me having to ask, they said they were getting it and at that point, I thought, "Meh, do I really need it? I can't even finish what I have. Not a big deal" Well they brought it and let me tell you, I needed it. You need it too. Your best friend probably does as well. This chicken was amazing! I loved the original Ruby Slipper on Cortez St. in NOLA and to see a menu with Shrimp, fried green tomatoes, crab meat and French Truck Coffee is just amazing. I'm a regular & the main reason I keep coming back is the great service I get from these two guys (Bourbon & OG). Whatever you're paying them it's not enough. ha! :). Try the stuffed French toast or pancake of the day if you want something sweet & get the combo of Benedict Medley called a "Peacemaker" with any two. My favorites are the Chicken St. Charles, Bayou Shrimp, & the Crawfish and grits. If you're into tradition Brunch Beverages Their creamy Vanilla Iced Coffee is amazing and they have fresh made mimosa's, Brandy Milk Punch and if you want the works Bloody Mary you have to ask for the one with bacon. You can't make reservations, but inside tip if you go on busy weekend mornings you can get on the wait list online before you arrive and receive updates on your place in line. So thrilled to see a delicious new brunch joint in downtown Franklin. I've always felt like our brunch scene was a little lacking, and Ruby Sunshine totally changes that! I recently stopped in for a late brunch with my mom. We were promptly seated and greeted by their super friendly staff. Their menu is very unique for the area since it isn't your typical Southern fare. They also have a lighter menu, which was great for my mom! There really is something for everyone here. I decided to try out their migas. I've never found migas in the area, and theirs were fantastic! I loved the freshness from the cilantro and avocado on top. Honestly some of the best migas I've had! Be sure to get a side of salsa for extra flavor. I was also impressed that they were able to help my mom with a healthier order. She was able to order a light omelet with side of fruit and whole grain toast. It was a great meal while still remaining relatively healthy They also have many more choices, healthy and indulgent.
